FiiO Music - For Audiophiles

I’m using this with a Q5 mark II and Bluetooth headphones. When ever I open the button in the middle, the app crashes. Additionally, the files in the folders section are not listed alphabetically. All my files are numbered by track number first, and when I open them from the folders section they are all mixed up. After spending over 300 bucks on the amp, I was hoping the software would have been better. Quite disappointing.

I honestly wish I could give this... Thing zero stars because to give it even just one star means it did something. I guess I could give it one star because it downloaded, opened, and let me press about half the buttons that were in the app while the other half did seemingly nothing at all. It wanted permission to access my iTunes so it could “retrieve my music” so I thought yeah sure why not? I mean I didn't expect a dac app to have it's own music sourcing magical powers. Big easy obvious button that told me it would scan for songs on my iTunes to put in the a- thing.. Can't call it an app it's not an app. Anyway pressed the scan button and as soon as I let my finger off it it said in big beautiful letters “complete.” right above it it said “0 songs”. Now granted I would be worried about it snorfing up all my precious iTunes and iCloud data but I don't believe it's capable of doing even that. No, I don't believe this app is capable of doing anything at all. I'm so glad it has a car mode feature and the wonderful dark mode I've come to know and love (aside from whenever I have to use snap chat) but if a DAC app cannot even scan music to play, or play the one song that it keeps telling me at the bottom of the screen it has on it... What a wonderfully complex-looking paperweight. I just really hope my appless DAC I have coming actually does something so that way I never have to try and rely on something this abysmally useless ever again.

First, the “scan” or read of iTunes is the worst representation of what has been painstakingly cleaned up tags of my music - under albums I get hundreds of individual songs - due to Album Artist vs. Artist no doubt. If you are reading iTunes then represent EXACTLY as iTunes. iTunes uses Album Artist to group the albums, NOT by Artist (that’s at the track level). Second, I do not believe you get hi definition playback UNLESS you use the FiiOMusic software. iTunes is programmed to use internal Apple hardware DAC/ADC. I asked this series of related questions before purchase and never got a valid answer, nor does your site explain either way what is necessary for HD playback (software reqs). The KA-3 should be a completely hardware solution and software should not be required to accomplish the task of conversion/decoding - unless, as stated earlier, you device needs your software, regardless of the misinformation presented. With iTunes playing to the KA-3 on my iPhone X max with iOS 14.x +, a HD (24 bit, 192k, lossless Apple) only shows playing low def (blue light). Update 1: the unit does amplify sound output from any playback software.

I don’t know why there are so many bad reviews because many of the issues they bring up I don’t have. I really like the quick file transfer feature so I can get music from my pc to my phone. One thing though is the touch feedback, especially on the equalizer, it’s hard to drag the sliders. Other than that I like the app a lot. To be honest the only reason I use the app is for the WiFi file transfer and to play files from my pc.

So this is a pretty good music player app. I honestly thought it synced all of my Apple Music stuff since I subscribe to it. But it doesn’t and that my biggest complaint. And I think FIIO should spend some time making the app function better, like when your scrolling through songs, it scrolls instead of playing then when you go over them.

The app does not work with the files app in IOS. Does not support DoP with DSD on the iPhone 15. Apparently Apple does not support a communication with devices and the USB iPhone. A workaround might be to optionally force higher bitrate output. Right now my Q3-MQA does not support DSD over DoP with IOS 17.2. It used to work fine with lightning iPhones

I don’t know if the app supports SACD-ISO files, I have to try and see. It does however support DSD files (meaning you or someone else ripped a SACD) the problem is the app doesn’t support the meta data, so the tracks come in out of order under an unknown album. Other then that the app is nice, it’s got support for the iPhone X, good job Fiio, keep the updates coming!!!

No matter how many times I try to configure one of my FiiO Bluetooth devices, it returns back to the main menu after clicking my device thumbnail following with the Disconnected status. It actually worked like a charm few months back, but nowadays it has gone completely useless. FiiO should upgrade to a newer version with dramatic improvements ASAP!! Period!

I’ve tried multiple times to delete and re-download music from my MacBook using the drag and drop feature in finder. The app will crash every time it gets past 200 songs. I have about 3000 songs, some high res and some not. Looking forward to getting this working so I can properly enjoy my Q5S.

When trying to play the next song, the app freezes and crashes. Also, it would be nice to have a lettered scroll bar on the right that will let you skip to titles that start with a specific letter or number.

I was excited about this app but once I have installed it and every time I do a search the app would crash. I only have about 400 songs on my IPad so there should be no reason for this app to crash due to an artist search.

Love the App, please updated to support iPads and larger displays. App also requires better file editing/organising and file browsing Support.

The FIIO BT Control for Q5s had to “forget” the device then use the app to connect. So far seems fine. Also I had to then go back to iOS blue tooth and click on the device to connect for music

DLNA connectivity now is broken. I can’t see my server after the update. Somethings were fixed, somethings gets broken!!!!!

Having to type the IP of my Fiio M15 every time I want to use Fiio Link makes it basically useless. Please make it auto detect the player’s IP. Or better yet, support Bluetooth on iOS.

I stream my music DLNA to my iPod and have no problems with VLC or Foobar2000 apps with raw DSD files or hi-res flac. FiiO app either won’t play them and crashes with audio files higher than 16-bit. Needs much work to fix these issues before I use it again.

No matter how many times i try, it doesn’t connect with my btr3 and 5. This is a very bad app. fiio Should work on this app for iPhone instead of paying Zeos for fake reviews for their crap products.

There’s a option to sync your iTunes playlist to the app, although it hasn’t worked yet :(

It worked before. Not now. It has lost the most important/useful feature. Should I use this app?

App was a little buggy before but would at least play DSD fairly well. Now it isn’t at all.

Awesome DSD support. Won't connect to my btr3 or Q5s no matter how I connect it. Mixes files even in my iTunes library.

BT Control usually doesn’t list BTR3, even while BTR3 is connected and playing music from FiiO Music.

It converts dsf and DSD to PCM. On both dacs I tried it has DoP toggle so you would think it does native but it don’t work. I saw other reviews say daf works but they probably not realizing it is converting to pcm.

It keeps going back to main screen after a few seconds.

Nothing else to say really. It’s unfortunate that Fiio is not interested in getting the bugs out of this remote app!

It also doesn’t allow you to edit favorites or even playlists on the linked device. Pointless!

Was hoping this app would work with BTR5. BT Control is a blank screen. EQ has no effect on music as far as I can tell. Using on iPhone 8+. BTR5 sounds really good but was wanting to be able to adjust balance and EQ.

Don’t get it. Even if you delete this app from your iPhone, it’s back on your screen a day later. Apple needs to delete this apps from the store.

As above. Don’t buy anything FiiO until they can fix their app. Much better products out there. Get the EarStudio ES100.

Very basic functionality. Where is the EQ?

Need iOS File integration for easy hi-res files manage/ organization. And display file format/ sample rates in now playing card. It is least audiophile need. Thanks.

The app is pretty useless, gets tagging data all wrong. I use Poweramp on my FiiO devices. Just skip this.

This app really needs a modern update! There are no really good players for iPhone besides the stock music app or some other ok ones like foobar 2000, ok to gr player, and VOX. The Fiio app for android is amazing and my favorite app for android besides usb audio player pro. This app would be a hide win for iphone users who don’t want to use the music app and dont want to rely on streaming. Please make a modern update to this app!

The app works perfectly if library is properly organized, I use mp3tag to edit the info. When I connect my Q1 Mkll it will show at the bottom of the song that it’s playing thru the Q1, so it’s nice that it can detect what’s connected. I haven’t had any problems with Bluetooth using btr5 but I don’t use it with the iPhone since it can only use aac codec. A feature that I really like is the WiFi transfer from computer browser, it’s very easy fast and way better than the android version because you can choose the destination file to upload. The only thing I hate is that for some reason when the iPhone tries to back up to the icloud, it tries to backup all the songs. So it always gives insufficient space error and won’t backup.
