These are great lights that work with Ole Girl Alexa but it’s just so shocking that after all these years and so so very many other brands of these “space”or “galaxy” lamps, that absolutely!NO ONE! can seem to get them right! It’s hilarious bc even the really expensive “planetarium” (supposed) style ones aren’t what they are priced up to be! Like the stars or laser on these you cannot set it to be completely off for whatever reason from the slider (inside this app)that brightens and dims the stars or laser, so therefore I keep it turned off bc it’s just too bright and too many overpowering “patterned”stars (looks like those Xmas ones shining on the front of houses or trailers in the trailer park!otherwise it’s TACKY! Stop it! Also why not update these with new functions or affects? That’s why I say all these brands out there and they’re all the SAME tacky galaxy lamp lol. With all the different companies and instead of designing something better, most are the same or better yet, well… worse
Since I bought this lamp it has been everything I could have imagined and more. I use it almost every night and had it set up beside my bed. It’s well worth the price, which I originally worried it wasn’t. But if you want a beautiful galaxy in your room, this is the product. My main complaint though is the app is awful to use. When I first connected my device, I was able to use the app to change the color, using a color wheel I haven’t been able to find since. It was a great feature - while I was able to find it. It also doesn’t always turn on/off through the app, and requires to be turned on/off manually. On top of that you can create ‘scenes’, but it’s hard to understand what a lot of the options mean. What does ‘music’, ‘color’, ‘laser’ or ‘scene’ change? How do you change the color, again? For a while there were some procreated automated scenes which I loved using, but those disappeared too! Redownloading the app, reconnecting the device, and resetting my wifi hasn’t fixed any of these issues - so all I can hope for is a better app to be created, or perhaps a remote? Again, excellent product, not so great app. Only good to turn it on/off non-manually and even that doesn’t work half the time.
I purchased two smaller Moon Lamps that indicated on the box that they work w Google Assistant and when I opened this app it also picked up the Large Moon Lamp in my Living Room I purchased last year that never claimed it was compatible w Google Assistant! The two smaller Moon Lamps have worked PERFECTLY with G.A. On my Bose 700 Soundbar and have never lost connection The Large Moon disconnects from time to time but since it was never advertised to work with my Smart Phone (came only with a remote) I just consider it a bonus.
I have redownloaded this app multiple times and it is completely useless. The app stays stuck on one screen and one screen only. When attempting to switch between “Laser”, “Colour” and “Scene”, there is no change between the three and this did not happen when I first downloaded the app, so I don’t understand why it’s happening out of nowhere. I also no longer have control over how fast I want to stars to rotate. That option completely disappeared. The “on/off” button now only works for turning *off* the device, but I can’t turn it back on. I have to do that manually. Also, the tab on the top right corner no longer works so I can’t switch between the stars and colour anymore. I have to do that manually as well. It actually doesn’t even move back and forth anymore. It’s just stuck to the right. I will happily give a better review if these bugs are fixed somehow. But until then, I’m sorry, this app is not doing it for me.
I tried to connect to the app, but it doesn’t connect. The time it takes for them to connect us too fast to the point where you missed it if you’re not perfect and the timing. This is very frustrating.
The app used to work fine when I first got the projector (2019). It would let me change the lamp colors, lasers, etc. Now I can only access the color OR the laser (having to close and completely reopen the app in order to switch between the two)….and the ENTIRE reason I bought the projector was because it had a rotate feature…doesn’t work and hasn’t worked since about a month after I bought it. I attempted to contact customer service but they keep telling me it’s an issue with the app and that there’s an update coming soon but…it’s been like a year and a half since I last tried contacting them and have since given up on trying to get it to work. Honestly a shame because it was beautiful that first month. 🥲
The app was pretty good, if not, a little buggy when I first got my lamp about a few months ago. I had a few instances where it just wouldn’t connect to the lamp. Then, I stopped using the lamp for a bit, and now when I try to use it, the app just doesn’t seem to work at all. When I first open the app, it takes about 30 seconds for the app to realize my lamp is in fact on and in range, the section that controls the lasers controls the colors, I can’t switch the colors on and off, etc. I gave it another star because it at least does the bare minimum without hassle, which is change the color.
The only reason why it's not a 1 star is because I like the projector, but the app is horrible in detecting the projector and every time I go into town, I take my phone with me, I have to reset and connect the blasted thing again which is a nightmare to do. Even connecting through Bluetooth requires connection to WiFi which defeats the purpose of Bluetooth! The app is nice when it works , but it rarely works. I would suggest putting an interface on the projector with the app already installed on it so all you have to do is plug it in, it shouldn't require internet to customize it
Have the Galaxy Projector. Connectivity was extremely simple, more so than the manual implied it would be. I didn’t have to isolate the network GHz band at all; it all auto-sensed and connected. The functionality is basic but well-done and provides good options for customizing the functions. Room to grow though for sure. My only comment on the projector is I wish they had randomized the star pattern a bit more. Overall quite satisfied.
The app has worked fine with the lamp for awhile now and we’ve had it for a couple years now but all of a sudden the app is really glitched out for me and I’m not able to turn the laser brightness down. I checked to make sure there wasn’t an update and there wasn’t so I tried deleting and reinstalling. It gave me the option finally for the laser but it wouldn’t actually change, switched it to the color and back, and it stayed on the color never went to the laser setting.
This light worked great for the last 8 months and now is a complete let down. The app is now absolutely useless. It does not allow the color to change or the brightness level to change, says the light is offline when it is on, color tab only adjusts the stars brightness, scene tab is broken and half the time no tabs show up. We bought this for our toddlers bedtime and would put the stars at a dim lighting without color which is now not possible. The light isn’t worth it without a properly functioning app. One of the worst, if not the worst app I’ve ever used.
I had no actual issues connecting the app to wifi and getting it to connect to the 2.4Ghz network. I haven’t tried the 5Ghz network or Bluetooth or cellular connection yet. The app itself does have some room for improvement. 1. The ability to save custom color settings so you can quickly change to your favorite colors 2. The ability to work with Siri voice control / HomeKit. Not sure if this is an actual app update that is needed or maybe we need to wait for 3.0 hardware build. 3. More scene options 4. Ability to change connection type Right now I see no easy way to connect device to a different network, or to verify if I can connect over Bluetooth. The setup assistant mentioned it could be done later as it advised I need to connect to wifi first, but not finding a quick way to manage the connection method.
Love this light, I do wish they had more options in app though!
I absolutely love this light, it’s beautiful and I love that there are color options. I do wish there were programmable settings for the scenes and that we could choose more than one color when doing a custom color. These are just improvements of course, I love this light and app otherwise!!
App does everything that’s needed. One critique is that you should be able to edit the brightness and settings of the lamp prior to turning it on. If you last left it off at 100% and it’s being used as a nightlight, you’re going to blast the room with light before you can adjust it back down.
I love my Galaxy Lamps! I got the Galaxy projector and Moon lamp and they make my hangout room and bedroom feel like a planetarium. I love how they're not battery powered and you can control setting from the app! The app is so easy to use and functional. The lamps give my rooms such a relaxing cool vibe, highly recommend!
At first I was gonna give up on the app because I didn’t want to do the 2.4 thingy with my WiFi. But what I didn’t realize was that you could just set it up manually by holding your phone next to the lamp. So know internet changing was needed. Just good ol Bluetooth.
Very nice! Seems to be good quality and it’s easy to use. I ordered 2 more as gifts after using mine. BONUS if you have old school popcorn ceilings as it makes the “stars” twinkle. I’m really impressed and satisfied with this projector
Like others here the WiFi setup didn’t work no matter what I tried, super frustrating. BUT when I used Bluetooth it worked right away. Strange. Control is great, I wish it would fade out instead of shutting off at the end of the timer but other than that it’s great!
Developers please fix this. I am very glad to have received my galaxy projector and it works off of it’s default settings but I was also looking forward to customizing it’s colors with my phone. No matter which option of connection I choose, it always times out and simply won’t connect. I’ve retried many times and even though it’s detectable through pairing, it just refuses to connect. Please fix this
The app is outdated and no longer works. UI items (like the color wheel) no longer appear in the app, so you can’t control the color. Toggle switches no longer respond to taps. The laser comes on but doesn’t turn off. Turning the whole lamp off via the app works, but then you can’t turn it back on without unplugging and plugging it back in. In short, the app is useless, so you will need the remote.
I have had this for about a year now and have no complaints ! I purchased one for a friend! If you want a good product l, I recommend l. Thank you for a reliable projector that work!
I was out of the box and connected in like two minutes. No issues; it is odd that it asks for location and what not; works fine even when I refused that.
Very pleased with the customization options for changing colors on both the projector and the lamp. Also the easy to use timer/scheduling. Only complaint is I can't find a dark mode for the app. C'mon I hate staring at white backgrounds hehe
Can’t toggle between menus. It doesn’t turn on or off. Trying to submit feedback over and over and the submit button never turns on, yes every field was filled out, it’s such a bad functioning app and the device is annoying because you have to use the app to turn it on or off. It was a gift given to my kids and I DO NOT recommend it.
It is 2022. Routers perform auto switching between bandwidths depending on distance. This device requires you to create 2 networks for each bandwidth. That will mess up my clean network automation. App is useless now. Should be Bluetooth so we can use it outside away from WiFi.
i got this galaxy light projector for christmas and it’s been my favorite thing! it truly helps living in the midwest and it being dark majority of the time. however i do not like the app what’s so ever. the laser dial for the stars doesn’t even show the green stars until the dial is half way over then they’re super bright. i feel like they should gradually get brighter not work half way through. hopefully that makes sense!
I was very misled when I purchased some Galaxy Lamp products for my family. I thought they were supposed to be smart devices that would connect with my Google Home but they do not. The only way they work is through this app or Luminary. Even after linking those apps to Google Home the Galaxy Lamp devices don’t show up in the Google Home app.
This lamp and app have worked great for a year but now the lasers do not rotate. I can control everything through the app as before but when I adjust the speed of the lasers nothing happens they are just stationary now which does not give the Galaxy effect
Was decent but now it wants an account number and information I simply don’t have. I’ve had this lamp for several years and paired this to my Alexa but now I can’t even change the timer on it or turn it off on the app without signing my life away. What utter garbage. Bet it was right as my warranty was expiring. Won’t be buying from them again.
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I really enjoy this projector. My only suggestion would be to have a mode with the colors shifting together slower. But great job guys.
I love the product, but I tried using the app and whenever I tried using one of the scenes it never gave me any of the colors I made, and whenever I switched it it would just go to a solid color. The product is nice but I don't like the "scene" option, it's a waste of time.
For some reason I was logged out and now after sign in I cannot connect my lamp with the app to adjust brightness? Any suggestions on how I can solve this problem?
I don’t understand why it says “unlimited color options” when i try to shift colors or just takes the red, green or blue from dim to bright…. Maybe mine is messed up??? Kinda disappointed in this tbh. Can’t get any other colors but RGB….
The UI between my two devices is different (projector and galaxy lamp) the lamp seems to have all the functionality and responsiveness you’d expect but the projector UI is slow and often unresponsive I also don’t seem to be able to create my own scenes only modify the four existing scenes.
The app takes waay too much work to get it connected. I spent 2 hours reconfiguring my internet so I could use this device. Massive thumbs down for that alone. On top of that I get it working and now the app keeps getting frozen. Hire new people to redesign this from the ground up. Could be an amazing product if the app was not trash.
The app doesn’t work at all, for the price you pay it should be an A tier. Sadly, the app only works for a few seconds, you can’t really do nothing. They should fix the app asap because this really makes the product itself an expensive trash.
I’m so bummed. I’ve been struggling for an hour trying to pair this thing up with the application on my iPhone (another reviewer said they held their phone next to the projector?) - because I can’t mess with my WiFi. I am admittedly a bit of a Luddite, but this is really frustrating🤬
This lamp feels like there is so much potential absolutely lost by how crappy the app is in terms of being able to customize or save anything. Every evening when I use this I have to redo the settings…why? Any edits you makes to scenes are lost. Utterly useless.
i love this light and the coded features it comes with, but after about a year the app only allows me to do ONE action before it completely stops responding. then i restart the app and get another action. extremely tedious, and nothing seems to help
When it works, it’s great but I often can only access the scenes when it works and even then, it won’t let me switch them which is infuriating!!! I love my galaxy lamp but I wish this app was better

I’ve tried all of the different settings, read all of the faqs and have wasted hours trying to connect this app to the device and it times out every single time!! It’s infuriating!!
Have to reset Bluetooth or exit out off app to change between sections (laser, color, scene). Sometimes app just freezes and takes forever to acknowledge that lamp is turned on.
I’ve had it for about a month and it looks amazing. But now I can’t connect the projector to the app no matter what I do. It blinks and as soon as I begin to sync it stops and fails every time. Paid $100 for technical difficulties?? Come on now :/
The device itself works fine, but the Alexa and Siri integration they boast is completely non-functional. The app itself is a mess, and it’s evident that this company outsourced the development to the lowest bidder.
