Good as Gold

Thank you for creating a way to save regardless of the quantity purchased to buy gold. I buy different quantities often and am slowly building a solid savings. Maybe you could look into adding an option of silver or create a sister account Slint to purchase and save silver the same way. That would expand your services and increase your customer base. The silver would allow for more people that feel they can’t afford gold. When figuring the fee’s, I would guess it’s less overall that the devaluation of the fiat currency. As solid investment over storing or saving in a bank especially with the high inflation known as the dollar devaluation!

Don’t Open an Account Here

These guys have been nothing but hard to work with ever since I opened my account with them. Even though I had originally opened an account which I could use in Europe with Euros or Pounds they insisted I get a USA account (though I am a dual national and have and Irish passport). They made me transfer my account to the USA and I had to have it sent to a USA address even though I live overseas. Then when I went to use the card no one accepts it so it’s been virtually useless to me as a MasterCard. Next I tried to withdraw money to my bank ccount and they held up the withdrawal asking for a bank statement and did not sent me any notification of that even though they said they sent an email to me informing me of that. I thought this would be an easy, seemless way to trade in gold and for that part I guess it’s okay; but it has beeen far from seemless and your funds are not liquid as they have so many freaking rules and regulations and contrary advice from England to the USA; it’s simply a pain in the tush (posterior). So caveat emptor. Finally, this morning one of their people was helpful and responsive and assured me that my withdrawal is on its way to my bank. An update: if you have any spending discrepancies re. Price paid while overseas their staff is very responsive and will follow up on it.

Good for saving, not for spending

Quick warning for anyone planning on using this card: they do not accept direct deposit from your employer (despite having a routing number) and only accept money from a ‘main bank account’ (despite being advertised as being usable as a main account). What this means is that every time you want money on this account, you have to manually wire it from a separate account. Every. Single. Time. That doesn’t sound very convenient now, does it? Unless you want to use it to save money (which still wouldn’t make the process any less inconvenient) this aspect makes using it to make everyday purchases a massive, pointless pain. After all, if you have a main bank account, why bother transferring the funds just to spend them? The only redeeming qualities of this service are the gold/bill exchange (aka the cornerstone of the service) and the design. These two things are the only reason that this review has two stars instead of one. However, if you want gold, you’re better off buying a gold coin, as it would have much more straightforward then this confused mess of an app.

My view of the gold card

Suggested by the Digital asset investor who I listen, I went to the glint website, where there was a link to the app download it in no time and follow directions to deposit some funds in order to buy the gold. This took about five minutes altogether. Then ordered my card to come in the mail another 60 seconds, then went back and bought gold with most of my funds. The whole process took less than 12 minutes. Very happy on the easeOf signing up for this card and since signing up my account has increased as the price of gold has gone up slightly

Unable to access -Many bugs/ glitches

I have tried multiple times to register under an account I already created an email pass and pin under but keeps saying that the email and password is invalid or incorrect. Attempted several times to do a forgot password but did not receive an email. I tried multiple times to register again but app would not let me past creating a 4 digit pin. I am glad I do not have money in this account as this company does not seem like a reliable platform that holds your money. Could you imagine needing access to your money and not being able to log in; doesn’t sound good? This is why digital currency is all about control. They can shut you out and say “ there is a glitch that we are working on resolving” , “this account is currently undergoing maintenance”. Your money should be readily available at ALL times.

Low fees, easy to use

So far this service has been a great experience for me. Ordered my card and topped up my account seamlessly and was able to get started buying gold. The fees are reasonable and all clearly marked out in the FAQs. Purchases with the card work as expected and Apple Pay works too. My only gripe is the quality of the card. Card is sturdy, however It’s the old style with raised numbers. Mine came with half of the gold paint rubbed off the numbers. Not the end of the world but a bit annoying. If they made the numbers printed and added tap support it would be… golden.

Great Service

I have been following GLINT since I heard of it years ago & the US government was trying to get there hands all in it when the company was just trying to get started here. I don’t think it worked at that point in time, but they finally found a good partner here in the US which I am thankful for. It finally came to the US & it used to have a several hiccups back in the day. But as time goes on, it has & I hope will get better with age. So after watching & waiting for the hiccups to fully leave. I then got my card. I have been promoting Glint since I got my card. Thus far, I have gotten my cousin, then my sister & I finally got my brother onto Glint. You can say I am Glint’s unofficial, mobile rep. Ha! Ha! Ha! I am happy that they now have direct deposit, which is awesome. And I have a few ideas for promoting this company on T-shirts & I am still waiting for the polo shirt. I got to get me a green G. G! Really wanted this to work

I was really excited at the idea of having a gold backed debit card to diversify from mainly having savings in bitcoin and USD. Unfortunately, I was only able to load funds from my debit card. I attempted to transfer funds from my Schwab account only to have them returned. After I decided to try to transfer from my Strike account which I use as my primary account, the test transfers went through but once Glint discovered that it was from Strike I was told future transactions would be returned as they do not deal with institutions associated with Bitcoin. Great idea, just not very practical. I will just go back to using PHYS to hold gold in my brokerage account in a liquid form.

Great Functionality - Low Cost

I setup my Glint account a few weeks ago. I find buying gold to be straight forward and the premium very low. Gold is allocated and stored in Swiss vaults. I have interacted with support staff on 2 or three occasions and have found their staff to be well informed and highly motivated to provide fast responses. The APP is simple and straight forward. My desire was to protect my current bank fiat funds from debasement by transferring them into gold and paying out current debts/purchases with a “gold backed currency”. I have most of my account in gold and keep a small amount in USD. This keeps my card more secure from internet theft because my risk is only on the USD side since my card is set to make purchases out of only cash, not gold. It will be an added bonus when they provide a bill paying option in the future.

Fees, Fees and MORE Fees

Don’t be fooled! I get it that businesses need to charge fees or a percentage of transactions to make money, but GLINT appears to take you to the cleaners. While it’s understandable and reasonable for them to charge a percentage of transactions for buying gold, where things get excessive is they charge a fee to to fund/“top up” your account (which is necessary to transact in any way on their platform) using a debit card and then they have the audacity to also want to charge a ridiculous $10 fee to have a GLINT Mastercard debit card mailed to you, (which the use thereof ultimately benefits them!) I’ve never heard of a financial institution charging users to have cards mailed to them, unless it’s a replacement/lost card. I think they should change their name from GLINT …. to GREED.

Better with physical gold!!

I have money on my account gold and fiat.. glint has decided to decline all my purchases as of late.( may be trouble in the company) now they have their people giving them glowing reviews. This should be so simple, just hate not having access to my money with no reason and it takes days to get a response on email or call and get told it’s a 4 minute wait and it’s 27 minutes before you hang up, imagine that your only money and they won’t let you spend it and it’ll takes days to find out why… I’ve started my close account sequence but they have to physically talk to you and that takes days… if you want gold just buy it , it you want liquidity buy gold, it’s just like cash

Security without Storage

The app is a very simple interface connecting you to your gold holdings. No need to keep the gold secure, they do it for you. I have piece of mind knowing I have gold holdings, physical equivalent in a European vault, if I ever need access to emergency currency. And if I need the funds now, an easy transfer from gold to usd is loaded on my card ready to spend. A basic app makes this a must for anyone who wants some extra financial security in these chaotic and woke days.

No Luck with Top Up

I have had an account since August 2019, but have not been able to add funds to the account yet. I have tried 3 different bank cards, but always get an error message. I contacted customer support and was advised “the fastest way to top-up while this is being investigated is via bank transfer”. Guess what? I am extremely reluctant to fund my account via bank transfer, if they cannot resolve problems with their app in a timely manner. Well, months later it is apparently still being investigated! Every so often, I attempt a top-up vía card, but never with success. If they ever resolve this problem, I might attempt to use my account, but after such a long wait — I doubt it! Too bad, I do like the concept of investing in gold through an app.

Hidden step

Completed all of the steps listed to do a bank transfer and then received an email saying Congratulations my account is now open and fully registered. So I then initiated a transfer through my bank that got processed. Four days later when the money still hasn’t shown up in my Glint account I receive a broken English email stating “This is friendly reminder that we are waiting for your bank statement to establish ownership on your bank account.” Nowhere on Glints website or app is this final step ever mentioned or let alone how to complete it. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional and needless to say I was forced to cancel the transfer and sadly reconsider using Glint’s services at all.

Beware!!!

Customer service is horrible, I went on vacation and there were holds placed on my Glint card. After I returned, the holds were never released and it’s 3 weeks later and my funds are still on hold after the hotel and cruise line sent Glint the authorization letter to release my money! Glintpay team don’t have a clue as to what they’re going. Only to send me pacifying emails stating their working on it smh!! Stay far away and just buy physical buillion/coin!!!

EXPENSIVE

So I decided to do some math. I took the weight “of the gold it said I had” times it times the price of the gold ”it says it’s worth”. And it was about $12 off. So my total value of my gold it said I had was valued 12 dollars less. Not to mention they take gold from you every month for “vault fees”. Charged me $10 to deliver my card. And charge me .5% of transaction fee’s. They can’t even give you the right price of you hold that they “say it’s worth”. Very disappointed because I excited to use this for my savings” So my dollars won’t keep getting inflated. Do not recommend unless the problem is fixed.

Very poor Customer Service and treatment

They have very poor customer service, and have never been treated so poorly by a bank or a pay service of any type before in my life. After having an account open for several months, they froze my account to ask for more documents, which I had provided on day one when the account was open, but they apparently lost them. Very frustrating to deal with them and get my account unfrozen! Tone deaf. I close my account and I am moving on and I recommend no one do business with Glint if this is the way they are going to treat their customers.

Sound Money FTW

I’m a big fan of sound money because I believe that fiat currencies are trash. Glint gives me an easy way to save my money in gold until I’m ready to spend it. It’s an additional 0.5% per transaction, but I feel it’s well worth it since my wealth is stored in a safe haven until use. Highly recommend this app for someone who’s interested in learning about gold and how it can preserve your buying power.

I have read a few of your reviews & yes just like some I to had a little bit of a problem in the beginning! But with patients & reaching out, when I had the time I got everything resolved! I do like that this is on mobile, & possibly tablet but I don’t have one, but I wished it was also on computer apps as well! Gold Buying Made Easier

I opened a Glint account in the U.S. over a year ago, and I have been slowly purchasing gold thru Glint ever since. Opening an account was really easy, and I really like their App which makes it convenient to check my holdings with ease. I also appreciate the news articles that are provided within their App. Very informative.

Connection Error.

I’ve been trying to create an account for a few days now and every time I set up all my information and go to confirm my account and never loads. Then when I close out the app and re-launch it it says that there’s a connection error and the app can’t connect to the server. This is very disappointing and discouraging.

Over-all great concept and app

Had a hiccup at first, but wasn’t app related. Customer service solved my issue which was nice. They were quick to respond so 👌🏼. Love the concept and the app/card are all well made and nice on the eyes haha definitely see allot of potential, especially with all the QE the ECB and Fed are messing with. Best debit card anyone could have to make money with

The idea that you can buy and sell gold with a debit card keep cash in reserve to use as a debit card, but potentially make a fortune, buying gold low and then selling it back high is very desirable. I wish they added a silver feature and a platinum teacher as well.

App Review

This has got to be the coolest app I’ve experienced. So simple to use. I just ordered my debit card. I sent the team a feature I would love to see that makes buying gold easier and that reoccurring purchases and it’s already on their roadmap. Debit Card Fee

Was excited to download and start right away, only to find out the quickest way to top-off the account was a debit card, with a large fee. In process of ACH bank transfer, so hope when transfer is completed, smooth sailing from there….slowly moving my crypto funds over to gold. Crypto trying to be gold, so why not get gold instead…

Glint is an awesome platform to invest in the precious metal gold. Very easy to buy, use, or liquidate assets with the app and the debit card. I also noticed the app supports multiple currencies like GBP and EUR. This is a very cool concept and I think the glint team will do more things that no one else has before. I encourage them to keep developing their product.

Have only had the app for two weeks, but great so far. Also reached out to customer service and they were very prompt in getting back to me and helping. Love having this as an option as the Federal Reserve Note dies. Looking forward to getting my card in the mail!

Amazing company!

Glint makes it so simple to transfer dollars to actually owning gold! And they safely store it for me. My dollars increase when gold value increases, AND I have a debit card to make purchases anywhere! The value of the dollar will continue to decrease, gold will always be a valuable commodity.

Multiple Missing Direct Deposits

I have received 2 direct deposits from locations I worked at an in both instances I didn’t receive the deposit until repeatedly asking and contacting the app and the company which is virtually impossible and The last deposit I never received which I need right now yet it’s still not there you can’t be a money service and play with my money thats ridiculous and won’t work for me or anyone else

Crappy already

have received my card, trying to activate it through the app yet it seems impossible to do so. I actually regret dealing with you company already. The camera function won't scan the card and typing in the card number doesn't do anything. What good is your service if it's this hard to activate a card. Tried sending an email and that couldn't go through. If my emails can't reach your customer service why should I trust you people with my money.

Hardly any mark up.

It’s nice to buy gold at spot value rather than spending extra to sellers online. I like that I can cash out when I see the price of gold dropping. I typically put in between $20 to $80 depending on my budget. It’s always nice to see my money growing.

Love the concept

The app is simple. I would like to see some charts. Adding money to the account isn’t super intuitive. Why is it called Top Up? Once you use it however it makes sense. Also, an automatic reoccurring buying option would be a sweet feature to add as well.

Nice and easy

I got a fast response from customer service that answered my question. Use the ACH option if in the U.S., banks are flagging as international and adding a fee. The app works great for what I need.

Great idea... if it worked

I was so excited to try this out and as soon as I went to “top up” with my card it gave me an error. Four. Times. In. A. row. The scan feature to scan your card is as worthless as the app and doesn’t work either. So basically I now have a useless app that serves no function or purpose. Not a good look for an investing app when you can’t even invest in it to start with.

Waste of time...

The initial “verification” was still verifying my information 3 days later... What a joke. Banks do all of this instantly. (Week and a half later)... Finally got approved. Added a debit card to test things out. Tried to add money to my account and got an error message and no money into my account.
