The best mobile release for an all platform game that I’ve played
It runs immaculately on my iPhone 12 ProMax, fantastic balance of an addictive gameplay loop with deep synergies and play styles and tons of new things to unlock. It could use more variety in its level design, it’s not very unpredictable for a roguelite but that’s just an afterthought that you’ll never think about when you’re in a fight focusing on maximizing your damage efficiency without taking excess damage. In my 10ish hours so far I’ve been glued to it and if they keep updating and releasing content it could easily go down as one of the greatest roguelites ever. Side not it looks most similar to Risk of Rain 2 at first glance but it really feels like if someone streamlined the Borderlands 2 combat system and enriched it with Hades’s meta progression and weapon synergies. Awesome game.
I’m rating this a 1 star because they for some reason don’t see fit to add keyboard and mouse support for this game despite already having it on steam and knowing how to do so. The game is great but I bought it on mobile with the intent to be able to utilize my keyboard and mouse to improve my mobile gaming experience. There are quite a few games with keyboard and mouse support that are much more in depth and complicated than gunfire. It is a good game but it’s brought down by the fact that they limit the available options to play it with. There is also no way to play offline despite paying $15 for the game it’s not even like you need to play with others for the game to function. No way to restore purchases on IOS means that if you ever have to re login or an update cause problems you have to buy everything all over again and you are out whatever you paid before. Even a game that is free has this function and it speaks volumes about the game itself I’d say depending on your situation you may just end up losing everything at the cost of everything.
I love this game so much! I played over 200 hours on console, but I am extremely frustrated that the console edition has not been updated. Since I don’t have a PC I had to buy it on the phone. While the mobile version is great in every aspect, I just wish you guys would update console edition as well, or at least have 505 keep the console version up to date. Great mobile port, wish I could play it on console with my friends with the up to date version but the mobile version will have to do! Keep up the good work, I will continue to support since this game is legitimately one of the best games ever made!
Update: This game is so much fun! Plays like Doom meets Hades/Dead Cells. Great for short breaks, as the game saves after each area-level (just make sure you get to the leading screen, then it’s safe to exit). The controller set-up could definitely be a bit easier, and it would be nice to turn off more of the on-screen controls. Original review: Took a while, but I was able to figure out how to get the set-up going for Backbone. You need to select controller (either xbox or PS) and then configure mapping. It was kind of complicated to figure out. The game looks great though and I’m excited to dive in.
Gunfire Reborn was one of those games that really came out of nowhere. I found it on steam a couple years back and without understanding roguelites or being a shooter fan, I took a shot for 10 bucks. Well fast forward two years and I have purchased eleven (E L E V E N) copies on steam for my friends so I they can experience the fun and join in co-op. The transition to IOS scared me, but I was right to trust these developers. The same incredible single player game is there. The same great co-op game is there. I play with a controller but the touch screen controls are a clever way to jam in all the mechanics. Overall, this game was, is, and continues to be a masterclass in the genre and the epitome of early-access indie development success. Only thing even close that comes to mind is Hades (but I dont see them dropping on iOS). Great job devs. I hope everybody reading this buys a copy because these are the dedicated game designers that the world deserves to celebrate.
Really works even with touchscreen comtrols (and 8bitdo)
Haven’t played this game previously and I’m seriously enjoying it. Works well with 8bitdo controller (without touching any options or setup - it just works) but this is like the only fps I have played where I’m really enjoying the touchscreen controls as well. I think the game is fun and the amount of options (tip: switch fov to 90!) show that the developers really put effort into the port. I don’t have a bad thing to say and so it gets 5 stars.
Lots of fun and I want to keep playing to unlock everything but now after a couple days of playing without a problem, I crash at in game lobby or just starting a new run. I crashed after submitting a report about the crashes. So idk if it even know if it was sent. Nothing has changed since playing with no issues but all of a sudden I can’t play now. Stuff like this that isn’t fixed soon I’ll probably lose interest in and I’ll request a refund. Paid for an app that is not something new and still has huge bugs like this idk, doesn’t seem worth time or money so far.
I’m an avid fan of this game. I’ve spent many hours on console playing this. The PS5 is the way to go. But I went to go and buy one of the 1.99 characters. And the total came out to be like 9.63. This game is ripping people off. So please kindly fix this issue and reimburse the people with what you owe them. Y’all had enough money to get it to mobile after already available everywhere else. Fix this problem before it becomes a bigger problem (Now after this comment. I’m left with another 7.50 being taken out of my account I don’t have the money for. So now I can’t download anything. I’m being charged a second time for a game I already purchased.)
I have always loved this game on pc, and now I can play it anywhere. This version is really well polished and very easy to get the hang of, even for being an fps on mobile. My only complaint is that it drains your battery but that’s to be expected since it’s almost an entire pc game ported to mobile. Really good job! And as always, I will never get over how unbelievably cute the Crown Prince is. Thank you all so much for this wonderful game.
Absolutely great gameplay but there’s a misunderstanding
I’ve been playing the game for a couple of days and I’ve been enjoying it a lot and while I was playing I wanted to buy a new hero because I see that the price is $1.99 per hero, we’ll I buy three new hero’s thinking I’m it’s only going to be $6-8 dollars in total they charged me $7 per hero almost cost me $25 in total. I want a refund but I want this problem to be fix so no one has the same problems because this is such a great game.
Love this game, played it 100+ hours back on pc an as far as mobile ports go has great on screen controls an looks/runs great but my only issue is not having any offline support an unless I skipped over that in the game info it’s not specified. Having it on the mobile is honestly amazing but the whole idea of portability is being able to play it anytime an anywhere and the idea of having to worry about a steady internet connection is a definite turn off so anyone looking into the game just know that out of the gate.
I really love this game typically I don’t ever play games that I have to buy but after playing this game on my friends phone I had to buy it there’s truly no other game on the App Store like this. One thing I would like to see is A co-op 3V3 Or free-for-all where you get battle other people online I hope they continue to expand the game and keep adding more definitely worth the purchase
So I gave this a 3 star review hoping to fix the issue with my Kenshi , but there wasn’t one. Though it only says XBox and PlayStation based on it it’s XBox. Then you have to calibrate each button and control before you can use it. IT DOESNT AUTOMATICALLY CALIBRATE THE CONTROLLER. But also nobody knew that so the directional part was missing and if you mess up calibrating you gotta start over. Over all it’s a good game after the little set up.
Game itself should be a 4 star. However, this game has issue with connecting to the server. Half of the time, I have issue with connecting to server when game starts, while other apps work fine (not my internet issue). I’ve been reporting this issue for countless times in the game. There seems to be no other way to fix it. Just have to try refreshing or restarting the game. It is truly a game of luck. With the connection issue, I rate this game 2 stars. It significantly affects your gaming experience.
Definitely worth the price! Fun fast and clean with a good variety of skills/power ups and heroes. I have only unlocked 2 characters and 2 areas so far and it’s already worth the price of admission. The different skills each character uses adds even more replay value. Support games like this and get it! You won’t be disappointed.
Been waiting for this one. Bought it as soon as it released early. So far no issues. The game runs great and has a LOT of replay value. If you like games like Dead Cells or Enter the Gungeon, this is in the same vain except as a FPS. I really enjoy the concept and take on the roguelike genre and am looking forward to continued updates.
Great game especially for mobile as of the time of writing… (a day after release) controller support (backbone) would be really nice. The touch controls are really good. A little slow wonky depending but that’s to be expected. It’s definitely worth the price tag to be honest. Fun and fast paced and every floor is different with the loot which is nice. More levels would be great but we shall see what time brings….
It’s like a lighter borderlands, endless fun. I wasn’t sure I would enjoy not being able to keep my weapon drops because rare loot is one of my favorite game aspects, but honestly that not being the case took nothing away from this game’s enjoyment. Huge props to the creators.
The home button and record screen button on the Razer Kishi are not mappable in this game. I cannot use my controller because there are not enough buttons to get all the way through the button mapping process. This game and probably the Kishi firmware have bricked my controller for Gunfire Reborn. I’ve tried to “calibrate all mappings” and I’ve tried to map the buttons individually neither work. When I enter the game none of the buttons or sticks function. I would rather not play this game without a controller.
I have zero qualms with this game. It’s very fun and worth the price. The only downside to this game is that you need internet to access the game. The devs keep telling people you only need internet to login and then you’re good. What that essentially means is No internet = No game so I don’t understand why they keep saying that. Aside from that though it’s perfect.
Just started the game and notice when I use a controller that hiding the on-screen buttons through settings doesn’t actually hide them. Frame rate is excellent at 60 and the action is fast and fluid.
What an incredibly good port! Such a fun game and I’m so glad I can play it on mobile! I only want an offline feature so I can play while away from internet or service so that would be an incredible addition!
Accidentally pressed a button on the loading screen and it signed me out. When I signed back in all my progress reset and all my dlc characters were gone. No way to restore purchases either. Also forced online is really weird and unnecessary if you go solo. The game itself is an amazing port but those 2 issues are sadly very glaring.
Why does this game have to connect to the internet to run (or cell data)? I game in the morning while I wait for court to start. However, since there’s no reception in the courthouse, I can’t play this. I bought it at launch and have only been able to play twice. Please update this game so I can play while not connected to the internet or cell data. If not, unfortunately, I’m gonna have to request a refund. Thank you.
One question tho? it says that there are characters I can purchase I’m seeing no characters that I can purchase just ones I can unlock. I would love to have more character options.
Edit: literally cannot download the patch or update or whatever. fails between 50-60%. I know it’s not my internet. it’s 130mb and I downloaded the 1.6gb game in like 45 seconds. PLEASE REMOVE THIS FROM THE APP STORE. You need online connection to login even for solo play after paying $6.99. Devs should feel bad. I want my money back lol. Edit: just tracked analytics, this game literally reports everything about you and your device to a Chinese company. if you are okay with this app forcing online for data collection then go ahead. At this point this app should be reported and Apple should be ashamed for allowing the level of data collection. Please do not give this app permissions. It tracks everything you do on your phone.
I read the description and didn’t see anything about needing to be connected to the internet to play even single player. Had I known this I probably wouldn’t have pre-ordered the game since I am often in areas that have no connectivity. Dev, if you’re reading this, please update your description to include this information for future prospective buyers. It *does* make a difference to some of us.
After the recent patch I can’t connect and play the game. Last time I played a few days ago the game crashed mid match (which is infrequent) so I’m not sure if that played a part
My only complaint is the matchmaking, it can’t be helped in, the game is older so I’m assuming a low player count. But the solo is still great the randomness of the game keeps it interesting and the game gets to be challenging.
Why can’t we play offline we paid for this? Doesn’t necessarily seem fair… outside of that major downside it’s a relatively fun game. Sounds is great and so is the action, character design, and combat. Works fine with my Bluetooth controller.
Games a lot of fun on my iPad and plays decent on the touch screen. I don’t like how I have to connect to the internet to play, last few times I’ve tried to play I’ve been getting network error and haven’t been able to play at all. Please add an offline mode, it’s very annoying not being able to play a game I paid for when I just want to play single player.
I love this game. It is so fun and i can’t stop playing it. The only problem I have with it is that I WANT IT TO BE OFFLINE. It makes me so mad to think I can’t play this on a plane or something because it is really fun. Please make it offline.
Lost my save out of nowhere one day, and all my character purchases were gone with it. Worst part is there isn’t an option to restore purchases, so you have to buy the characters again because of this (They still charge repeat purchases). I’d appreciate if a restore purchase option was finally added to mobile.
It’s a very light application (not demanding on phones), super fun and engaging gameplay mechanics, excellent talents to choose from, a variety of heroes to unlock, and infinite replay value. Doesn’t get much better than that.
The game is amazing and plays amazing. Just want to see a bigger variety of controller support options. The App Store says it can use MFi controllers, but after attempting with my BackBone, no success. Still, amazing game!

I was level 45 and upon resetting my phone was greeted with my characters that I paid for removed and all my progress reset. I have created multiple tickets in game and the automated system has failed to resolve this. I’ve even included screenshots of the purchase and necessary account info.
Got this game to play on the airplane. There was no mention anywhere in the description that an internet connection is required, but you can’t play without it. I love gunfire reborn and have played it a ton on steam. Shame they require internet for a game that should be playable offline.
This is a good game but I believe the full potential of this game could be released if it could be playable offline. Plus I don’t want to pay 7 dollars for a game that restricts where I play only to places with Wi-Fi.
Honestly it’s a really good port that really looks good just hope they add achievements to it and I hope they add the rest of the charecters I want mr lion man I have him in the pc game
I love this game, but this new update erased my saved data and also is making me pay for all the characters I’ve already payed for in the App Store! What the heck is going on!? This is not cool and I want a refund for all the characters I had to purchase AGAIN. Not happy about this!!!!
