Why does version history say “added Apple Pay” but it’s not there?
No Apple Pay? And the version history says “added Apply Pay” even. C’mon… I will not give every random app my credit card information hoping they won’t be hacked. Especially not when there’s a very secure payment mechanism built right in to the phone. Downloaded last year and deleted because no Apple Pay. Downloaded again tonight after seeing “added Apple Pay” in the version history. I guess I’ll be deleting again. 😕 See you (maybe?) again in 2023.
The app just doesn’t work when you go to add a card making it worthless for processing a payment in restaurant. This would have been a fantastic idea and I gave it two solid tries before giving up and simply taking my receipt up to the cashier instead. Worse yet, the app doesn’t even support Apple Pay so I have to enter my card information manually. Bad developers. Stop forcing users to do this. It’s 2021. Apple should really be forcing developers to, by DEFAULT whenever requiring payment information, to integrate Apple Pay. Seems they wrangle the restaurants into this ecosystem, too, where the Point of Sale systems are also Heartland branded. I feel bad for the establishments that have invested in these systems as the support is clearly terrible. Reviews dating back a year with no resolution in sight. Looks like I’ll have to continue to pay the old way but that’s better than having a janky application try and handle my credit card information. Yikes. Steer clear of this one.
I have restaurants that switched to this App. BRILLIANT!! I also eat at least daily at my restaurants. I use this exclusively. Fast, efficient, minimal issues. Great product. Also ToGo orders can be done quickly on here. One issue I would like to see an improvement on is I have a lot of credit cards that are filed by last 4 digits. But that requires me to look up my credit cards. I wish I had the ability to list the name or significance of the credit cards. Great product. Thanks.
This app is a scam. It does not allow you to sign in, stating that password is incorrect, but when trying to change password the app runs you in circles, not allowing you to update your password and therefore making it impossible to login to your account. I have given them the benefit that problem would be resolved but problem remains after more than 2 years. So, they have no intention of correcting a basic login problem. Therefore, the rewards program that the restaurant offers is actually a scam since you can’t login to scan reward points. It seems I’m not the only person with problems as app only has 1 star on Apps store.
8 sep 20 - just applied the latest update. Still unable to login to my previously established account. App fails to recognize my email, gmail account. First it works then it changes to use email login, a great move. Although it does not include online access but that is a small issue. Then it stops recognizing gmail as a valid email. That went on for months earlier this year when the restaurant and the patrons could really use the exchange and loyalty. That gets fixed for a few weeks and once again it fails to recognize my gmail login that worked only weeks before. If this weren’t free it would be worthless. How can they screw the most basic functions every time they update.
I have tried on multiple occasions to use this app to pay my bill. When I get to the end it tells me it is unable to process payment. I have removed the app and reinstalled it. I have removed my card information and re-entered it. Nothing seems to work. If I use my camera app to scan it will accept my payment but I have to put my payment information and completely each time. What is wrong with this app do not accept payments after establishing an account. from these reviews it appears I am not the only person that has trouble with this app. It would be very convenient if it worked.
The app itself is “alright” but by that I mean you can order food but there are several things that don’t actually work in the app. 1) Has ApplePay as a payment option but never works. 2) You get rewards but you can’t actually apply them to your purchase. Can’t redeem within the app - but you’re using the app to order so you can’t really call the restaurant to then have them apply it. Sort of defeats the entire point of even having rewards to use? Overall the app seems half baked and like the people that designed it don’t actually use it.
This app is dumb even after you setup an account every time you use it you have to enter credit card info again to pay which kinda defeats the purpose of I have to pull out my credit card then I can just pay the waitress and don’t need it. Just pay with apple wallet most places. This app gets a…. Ur Dum
I just spent ten frustrating minutes in a busy restaurant trying to use the app to pay. This used to be a seamless process and I was a big fan. It took logging in and out several times before it would save my credit card info, which was no longer in my account. Then, when I tried to pay my bill, I had to enter my cc info AGAIN and I received a message that it couldn’t complete the transaction. Why? Who knows? I tried four times and finally gave up. I wish I could rate it zero stars. You took what used to be a great product and made it unusable.
Scanned my receipt at a restaurant and it asked me to download an app (instead of going to a website/web app) and then the app wanted location, Bluetooth and notification permissions. To pay, it wanted me to have an account or create a new account. Unnecessarily painful. Unsolicited advice for the developer from a fellow software person - remove all the barriers from the user flow. Use a web app. Make it easy to accomplish an objective like paying a bill. If you want to encourage people to create an account, do it after the bill has been paid with all the info they’d have just typed in anyways while paying.
A restaurant I frequent added this payment system and I downloaded it right away. It was a very quick and easy way to pay and my servers assured me they received 100% of the tips I left them. However, my credit card expired and the app will not accept a new payment method. I can’t add it to my current account, I can’t add it to my friend’s account, I can’t add it to a new account I tried to create. I have deleted and downloaded the app again. It is now completely useless because the app will not allow me to save a valid method of payment.
This app really is just a piece of junk. It looks promising at first because I’m a big fan of Parker Johns, and wanted to receive rewards for dollars spent. But when you go to scan for points, the app continually says there’s an error and won’t give you credit for your receipt. There’s no way to receive assistance because the app doesn’t give you a way to contact customer service, so the whole thing is useless. The restaurants associated with this app should really move to a different platform because this is not a way to reward routine customers.
With all that is going on in the world this app has brought a lot of ease to the new day to day norm. Sometimes the contactless forms of payment don’t work on all the payment terminals so this app took my by surprise putting all the power in my hands. I love how easy and simple it is, plus I’ve been a mobile wallet freak so never having to take out my cards is the best.
This is a really terrible app. I’m really surprised Zupas, which is awesome, is using this app. I have not yet been able to enter anything and get it to work. other restaurant reward apps are so straightforward, they could just copy how any of the other ones work because they work pretty well. I can’t imagine who is overseeing product management of this particular app. It’s very confusing that it exists like this with so many good examples out there that work great. Zupas, you should fire these guys and make your own app.
The app lets you save a credit card as a preferred payment, but when you try to pay your bill a message appears that says, “If you have a saved credit card on your account, please submit your card information again in order to authorize the payment.” What is the point of the app saving your credit card info if you’re required to re-enter it each time you pay? It doesn’t support Apple Pay either. This app is poorly designed from top to bottom.
I really appreciate when I can just pay my bill at the table with ApplePay (etc.), and Heartland’s new approach ruins that frictionless (ideal) experience. You now have to download an app (I was okay, if unhappy, about that) and then provide my personal information to register… presumably for marketing purposes. They’ve managed to exchange a simple web experience that made me like the restaurant more for a more difficult transaction process in which I also have to give up my privacy. No, thanks!
There is trick to it when I use it. You have to place the order first and choose pay with cash or in store. After the order has been placed, close the app and reopen it so your current pending order pops out from the app with the option to pay now. That is when you choose Apple Pay and it goes through. Discovered this bug when I ordered through the website of the diner and then open the app to see my order ready to be paid for. I do love the simple design for the app and it is fairly easy to use, but that bug with Apple Pay is annoying. I hope you get a chance to fix it.
We go to a local restaurant and they asked us to start using this new app to earn points i stead of the card we used to use. This would be great if there was an option to transfer points or link the account from the old system. Unfortunately the app is poorly designed and there is not an option for adding points from the other account. When trying to look up support phone number or contact it does not exist. We have 148 points to transfer. So unless this is fixed this app is worthless.
Didn’t save my password, and when I entered it, I was told the password was wrong. Trying to reset the password did not work - screen froze up each time I tried. From other reviews, I have seen other users have had the same sorts of problems. Very sad - app is intended to give small restaurants a chance to have the same sort of loyalty programs and scan-to-pay features as national chains, but the failure of this app only exacerbates the problems smaller restaurants are having during the draconian COVID restrictions.
Loaded this app because a restaurant I like uses it for their rewards program, but app simply doesn’t work. Tried to create an account, but when I get to the page where you enter an email address and create a password, the links don’t work. Can’t view the Terms of Service and clicking Continue does nothing. Can only go back to the previous page. Have tried starting over, deleting and reloading the app, but nothing works.
The app no longer works with the latest update. I tried to pay for my food a dozen times, and it says my payment is declined. But I paid in-store with the same card and it went through no problem. You can no longer save payment information, either. So therefore the app is completely useless. Add a “pay in-store” option at least so people can order and pickup in a timely manor. I would recommend just calling the restaurant and ordering your food over the phone.
I downloaded the application as recommended by Tea Home in Hawaii so that I may collect rewards points. First two visits it worked, after that it didn’t work as smoothly. Needed to delete the app several times and re-add. Now it doesn’t recognize my email, so I can’t log in. When I try to make a new account it will automatically say invalid email. Called customer service, spoke with 6 different people who could not help. I visit tea home weekly, sometimes twice a week, I am losing out on my rewards!!!!
I can scan to pay! No need to give my credit card to the server anymore. Just scan the barcode and it’s paid and i can leave a tip as well. I also love ordering from it. It saves all my previous orders and i can track my loyalty points.
Signed up when I visited my local restaurant and banked some points. Went back and decided to add the points, I apparently had to sign up for an account already as none of my emails had valid accounts and then when I went to verify my phone number it just says phone number already verified. Just terrible, and I’m pretty tech savvy, I don’t normally get locked out of accounts so this has just gotta be terrible for people who don’t know what their doing. Don’t waste your time.
Very angry at this app. Just to pay a check it asks you for everything like email address, phone number, name, credit card etc. I don’t want to create an account. Just to pay a check. Once I entered my data, impossible to finalize the payment because a button is missing in the app. To be avoided. I already paid with other similar apps like this and in 20 seconds it was done. This one is a disaster.
Unusable app. You have to register an account with Heatland Payment Systems. However in the registration process it sends both a verification email and a message to the phone number. While the email worked the text to the phone number never went thru. Lack of Feedback: There is no format or input verification of said phone number (apart from a length), so you don’t know if it was a data entry problem.
The app is simple to use and is a great tool to limit contact with restaurant servers. I was able to see the full menu, place an order for carry out and pay my bill quickly!
This app makes it so easy to pay, very quick and efficient. Also great during this time as it allows for contactless payments! Would highly recommend for any restaurant. Extremely user friendly!
What’s the point of having a default payment method when you have to physically enter the credit card info every time you check out? Seriously, who programmed this? It’s worthless and extremely time consuming compared to just handing the server a credit card? Pointless and will be deleting the app. No need to have an worthless app on my device of it creates more work.
I decided to get this app so I could pay with my phone at a restaurant. It took *way too many* steps to sign up. Ways it could be improved: signup via Google or apple, don’t require BOTH email and phone verification, allow Apple Pay. Or, even better (!!!) - don’t require an *app*. Just take me to a website like all the other pay by phone options I’ve ever used.
Neat idea, but it’s irritating to have to sign up with an account just to pay a bill. I gave up and just pulled out my card to pay instead. Why not have an option for a one off guest payment? If I do enough payments I’ll sign up - otherwise let me do it once and delete all my personal details.
It’s asinine to require me to download an app, create an account, verify my email, and verify my phone before I can pay my bill. This should be a web app with the option to just pay the bill without signing up. And it doesn’t even support Apple Pay. Very nearly worthless.
Saving credit card information is one of the most critical things to making this app worthwhile. Currently (late August 2021), I have to re-enter my credit card information every time I order. I rather just pay at the kiosk by tapping my card.
I just want to pay for my meal with Apple Pay. App asks for location, bluetooth, and requires you to make an account. Account creation requires both email and phone number verification. Jumping through these hurdles just to pay for dinner takes a lot of time and on top of that I do not feel this level of info should be requested
It’s pretty frustrating when you set up a whole order, enter a credit card number again (because the app doesn’t save it from previous orders) and then there is literally *no* button to “Send” or “Submit Order” or something like that. You’d think that would be an important feature. Submitting the order.
It is extremely irritating having to input my card information every time I would like to make an order. The ONLY reason I continue to use this app is because the coffee shop downstairs usually has a large line and I can skip the line if I order ahead. If the card issue was fixed, I would have no issues with this app whatsoever.
When I scan using my camera it opens ApplePay and pays the bill but it does not as to my history of purchases on the app. Apple Pay is not listed as a payment source in my account, only a credit card. Why does this happen?
I love ordering from restaurants that have this app, and love using the scan to pay function whenever it is available. The app is very convenient and user friendly.
I wish this app worked but it doesn’t. As others have commented, even if you enter CC info, it doesn’t save and you can’t use Apple Pay, so every time you order, you’re forced to take out your wallet and re-enter CC info. This makes the app more than useless and infinitely frustrating. I’ve considered not going to the restaurants this app serves PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
I shouldn’t have to download an app just to pay my check. Both Toast and Square take you to a webpage and you either use ApplePay or enter your card. With this monstrosity, I have to download an app (took 4 minutes), register an account (took 7 minutes) and then and only then can I pay.
Takes far longer to get setup than just paying the bill with a credit card. You get through setup and find that it doesn’t work with Apple Pay. Then finish the payment process and get an Unknown Error only to find out from the server that it did pay through the app. Awful, awful app.
Not only does the app not allow me to use the secure pay system built into iPhone, when it does let you save your credit card, it won’t let you use it. Terrible system. On the good side it’s user interface is fine. Just paying is arduous.
Been using it a lot to pay my tab instead of waiting in line. However, whenever I try to put my name in profile it crashes. Have tried restarting phone and even deleting app and reinstalling. No luck. Without my name the kitchen never knows who orders. Fix it and this app would be great.
I downloaded this app because I have a restaurant that I frequent a lot. This is the way that they have now started to do their points system. Since downloading this app I have not gotten any points because it will not except my phone number. It continues to tell me to try again.
It’s now been three months and the app still has not be updated to make the mobile payment option work on the latest phone. You can scan the receipt, but the UI doesn’t allow the payment button to fit on the screen so at that point you are just stuck.
I tried to use this app to scan and pay tonight. I opened the app and selected the option to scan QR, but the camera kept snapping whatever was in front of it. It took about 6 tries to get the camera to the place where it would hover over the QR. each time it would error out. Finally I handed over my credit card and paid old skool.
Skip the line is the feature a few locations are using to order beers at breweries. The staff mentioned it rarely works for iPhone users. Bluetooth is on and enabled for the app. Location set to always use for the app. Restarted the app several times, power cycled the phone, and let the app sit open over a long period of time. Won’t work.
It just doesn’t function well, I order from the restaurant that I like that uses less frequently than I might otherwise because of how much of a chore it is to reset my password for the app every single time I use it. Been a problem for years now
Used this app with ApplePay at least weekly at restaurant across street from my office. Last two tries I scanned check, my order/bill came up, but no way to pay! I even added a credit card to my profile and nothing. Not sure what happened but app is now useless to me.
Have tried to use at the Local pub many time has not work in 6 months and what is the point of using it when you have to put the cc number in twice and it still will not work fix it or please Local pin switch to an app that works
