In addition to adding shortcut keys, this does what I always wanted to do with the Mac sidebar but never could--create a list (drop down from the menu bar) of my favorites apps and folders WITH THEIR CUSTOM ICONS INTACT, so that you can distinguish between them at a glance. I've searched high and low for this simple, exceptional useful thing. Here it is at last, and for free. Thank you Mr. Vorwieger and team.
Works exactly as one would expect. Intuitive and easy to get set up. One feature I would really like is ability to be able to keep the order of my windows when switching to an app using a hotkey. Currently, if the active window and the desktop are seperated by a window, and I HotKey an app that opens in the desktop, the desktop will move to the immediate left of the previously active window, pushing the desktop's prior right window to it's left, forcing me to rearrange the windows back to how I want them. It's minor, but would be a good quality of life optional feature I think.
I’ve always used some app or another to make keyboard shortcuts to switch among my most-used apps. I needed a new one, found this FOR FREE!? and it works FLAWLESSLY. Can you add in-app purchases to allow tips from happy customers? Maybe the “feature” that it would unlock is a big smiley face in the preferences window. :) Perfect execution. Flawless app. Thank you!
I've always used complicated ways of adding shortcuts to the apps and it was a headache to manage them. This app is free and lightweighted. I cannot believe I am doing all the stuff that simple. The app doesn't even bother you in the menu-bar. That's a very helpful, still silent friend. :)
I use time machine a lot to jump back to previous versions of documents and stuff, and It is so nice being able to get into time machine with a key command. Really appreciate this. Super simple, slick, and didn't take 30 seconds to do what I needed, and it's free! Thanks!
Super simple and it just works! 30 seconds I had my issued solved
Love this little app! All I wanted to do was create a Keyboard shortcut to launch 1 app. Can’t do it with Mac OS (unbelievable!). This is where this app comes in. Apple should just buy and incorporate it. Tim Cook….really?!
I've been using this app for just over 2 years now and have never had anything but positive things to say about it. By far the best keyboard shortcut app I've used.
Yes! This is the type of thing that you could use a few built-in OS workarounds to implement yourself, so not charging for this simple and well made app is refreshing. A huge thank you to the dev!
Can't thank the developer enough for this app! Makes my life so much easier. I no longer have to keep my apps in the dock as opening them is just one keyboard stroke away. :)
A true lifesaver! Apple Support / Help provided little assistance in figuring out how to activate the function keys for app launching. HotKeys is beautifully simple to use.
I've tried then all -- and this one is the BEST. Quick, simple, easiest to setup and use. My biggest ask: Use a hotkey to OPEN and/or CLOSE an app -- totall timesaver! Plus, the developer was super responsive to emails. Bravo! Let us pay?
If you don’t need anything more, then this is great. But there’s really very little to it, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself looking for an app with more features. Also, for launching apps something like Alfred (or Spotlight) is probably a lot more convenient and useful. But it makes no sense to downgrade this for that reason—this is a very cleanly built app which does exactly what it promises, and does it nicely.
With HotKey You can define keyboard shortcuts to launch Applications or to open folders in Finder. Another way is to open the Apps by selecting them from the Status-Menu in Your Mac's menu bar. Another Feature: Show the content of the clipboard with one keyboard shortcut. Take a look at https://codenuts.de/en/posts/hotkey for further information and expandability.
