My original review is left below so you can see that they took the feedback, fixed the issues, and made the app absolutely perfect for my needs! Way to go IMSLP!! Upgraded to 5 stars! The functionality of browsing and saving scores from the IMSLP database is excellent. The potential and problems lie in importing one’s own files. First, if you dismiss the prompt that tells you to use the “Browse” button when importing, you lose the ability to access any of your cloud files. There simply is no way to get to them from inside the app once the prompt is permanently dismissed. The workaround is the true disaster. When reading a PDF in the stock Files app, there is an option to “Open in IMSLP.” This will import a PDF just fine. However, THE SOURCE FILE IS THEN AUTOMATICALLY DELETED WITH NO WAY TO RECOVER IT. These catastrophic functionality issues need repairing before I can use or recommend this app.
Wow! Hats off to IMSLP for a truly great app. Gone are the days of downloading PDFs from my laptop and sending them to a third party app on a tablet. Now it’s just the tablet and whatever piece of music I want to read next. Navigation is easy and straight forward, and the marking functions are far superior to any other app. It’s tailored with musicians in mind looking to make quick markings during rehearsals. And as a bonus, it happened to work great with my foot pedal page turner. A must have. Keep up the good work!
I love using imslp to keep all of my music, but the new updates have gone too far. First, you made it so you have to wait 15 seconds to search. I get that. But now you are literally removing the search function unless the user has a subscription. If you want to make money, I understand, but you have to keep in mind that the purpose of this is to benefit everyone, not just to make money. Edit: Thanks for clearing that up, I’m truly sorry. I realized that you could also search for the piece you want if you know the composer. Sorry again for the misunderstanding.
I love this app. I use IMSLP every day, practically, and I am not sure why I didn't subscribe years ago - $2.99 a month to have access to all my scores, across all my devices, and to be able to import PDFs that I scan of other scores, plus supporting a platform for music that I use all the time, is very very affordable in my book! Less than a cup of coffee, and it goes to support something that I rely on constantly.
App looks slick and delightful to use. Is there any chance you could incorporate a “donate” button in one of the menus. Making a handy way for people to express their gratitude could bring in some support. On iOS it’s usually not much more than a thumb scan to send a developer $5 or $10. Thank you guys for your devotion to this art.
I loved IMSLP very much and have been using it everyday. Today, a unexpected thing happened—when I log in that account with my other iPad, some of the pieces are missing, including one that I studied for a long time and had a lot of important notes—and all is gone!! I am very frustrated today and I hope this wonderful app could be better and I look forward for a response of how can I get it back, Thanks
It’s IMSLP in an app—what else is there to say? I’d give it the full five stars, but you have to pay a monthly $2.99 fee to access cloud storage. That is, if you want to sync your library between multiple devices, you’ll have to pay. That’s ridiculous, so I just export my modified (scribbled on) PDFs and reimport them on the other device. It’s a hassle for sure, but it works. Amazing app otherwise! Plus, it works with my Firefly pedal!
Self scanned scores or downloaded scores can disappear all of a sudden and won’t be able to be opened/download at all when they offload by themselves. Scores especially markings aren’t recovered till now. I’m utterly disappointed. Subscribed monthly subscriptions so that my scores don’t disappear but can’t log in on other devices and my scores disappeared when i was still using the same iPad. There is a help button but tough to get help so here I'm reviewing. Update: Managed to get response through emailing and am on the process on solving the problem. Will update when it’s resolved.
Amazing resource, if basic functions would work...
Undependable, I mainly still import PDFs from the IMSLP website. Was excited to see and occasionally still hopefully try it to see if major bugs are fixed, but no. Searches freeze, downloaded page freezes - always - then you have to close and swipe the app away and reopen to use. Really? Why do we think tech people are smart? Probably has great bells and whistles, just make the access part work first!
Excellent app for those who are continually looking for sheet music. Easy to use and navigate. Allows any musician to find plenty of interesting repertoire or etudes to practice. Basically a must for anyone serious about continually learning music of many varieties
This app is what I’ve always needed!! I can finally make my own library and save the versions I like without researching every time or “favoriting” the specific page. There are a few things that aren’t available in the US for whatever reason but overall I’m pleased!!!
Ever since iOS 15 update it has had many problems. When opening it it works for about three minutes and then I can’t open any scores. The tool bar has been glitchy as well. I’m just disappointed because it’s inconvenient for people who rely on this app and I hope the issues get fixed soon since the updates on ipad and iPhone are causing a lot of problems.
Two unexpected things when I first tried this app: - I type “Chopin” in Search, and the auto complete under composers says, “no results”? I hit enter, saw two chopins, chose Fredric, and all was good, but that was not expected. - I did not see a way to print sheet music. Maybe it’s under Export, but I didn’t explore. I would have expected Print right on the main search results. I’m really happy with IMSLP, and the website works fine (better than app) on my iPhone.
Update: I am changing my review from 1 to 5 stars. I am pleased that the developer is quick to respond to my app crash issue. All I did for the fix was delete the app completely from my iPad and then reinstall. So far, no more crashing issues whenever I would open a set list. Looking forward to more app improvements and developments in the future! ———————————————————— Every time I open up a set list and go through the pages, the app crashes. Very unreliable and I wouldn’t recommend this for study nor performing.
Always I wanted to have imslp app on my iPad. At last we got it. Only the thing, I can't go to the page that I want easily. I have to turn the pages one by one. Can't be an easy way?
I’m so glad to have an app for my digital scores. Recently, the app has become very slow, and page turns take up to 5-6 seconds to happen. Also, the eraser often doesn’t work, or after working, the erased things will reappear and then disappear 10 seconds later. Using an iPad Pro for this.
I downloaded the app and purchased a subscription after using IMSLP, but I wasn’t able to log in on both my iPhone and my iPad. I tried a few different things to reset my password, etc, but it wasn’t cooperating. I hope to figure it out, but I don’t know how to make it work.
There are only two things I wish this app had. 1. That it would remember where you were in a score every time you came back to it. 2. That the bookmarks I make are not separate from the score but that if I choose one I can still continue on through the score. These two things make using this app difficult in a rehearsal setting where you are jumping around a lot. Otherwise this app works very well and is easy to navigate. love the highlight feature.
I love to use this app. it makes everything about sheet music easier. i dont love the fact that you cant zoom in farther on the music. i would absolutely love if you guys would let us zoom in farther!
I’ve only used the app one other time and there have been a handful of updates since. The app just won’t load. I open it and get a half loaded page that won’t let me do anything. Not sure if this is just a me problem or if it’s common
I’m not sure whether I like the app or not since I can’t log in with my account that works fine on the website. I get “URLSessionTask failed with error: The request timed out”. The account shows as in good standing on the website, so not sure what the problem is.
The very first title I called up came back as not available in my country. Guess I’ll go back to using my web browser. The titles are available for download on the website but not the app. I see your response below but I’m wondering why titles that are available on the website are not also available on the app. Thanks.
I love the app but here are some suggestions that i think could make it a must-have for every musician: - Easy way to rename music files - different color folders options - more colors for pen and highlighters (to accomodate everyone, i recommend a color wheel and “save color” option similar to Goodnotes - make the pen more adaptable—it’s too hard to write small and neatly and the slightest tilt or pressure will smudge the virtual ink. Overall I think having better tools similar to Goodnotes and some general things would be better.
I use IMSLP almost every day, and I am also a happy subscriber since years. I encourage the IMSLP team to keep doing this great work for many, many more years!

I really enjoy using IMSLP! I would recommend it to my fellow musicians and colleagues who play an instrument. I wish I had a bigger screen though. But overall, the app layout and design is to me a 10/10.
This is the worst app I have ever downloaded. It is the most non-intuitive app I have ever downloaded. I support IMSLP and am a long time paid subscriber, however, after five minutes trying to do a simple download, I removed this app from my devices. I will stick to the on line version. Whoever came up with this over-thought, labyrinthine complex mess must not be a musician and must certainly have never used IMSLP.
It’s IMSLP, like, one of my most essential websites, now in an app. Y’all doing the lord’s work; I don’t have to haul 8 million scores with me around teaching because of you.

The way the app handles and formats sheet music is unwieldy and takes up a lot of space on the screen. It is much cleaner and easier to use a web browser to download the PDF and then use a program such as ForScore to view and make notations on the music.
Deleted all my scores and annotations when I deleted app
I paid for the subscription, thinking this thing was backing up all my downloads and annotations. I had to rebuild my phone and this thing had no recall of all my scores. Weren’t they supposed to be backed up on iCloud? Wasn’t that what I was paying for. You wasted my money and to wasted for more of my time. Get it together. DON’T GET THE SUBSCRIPTION YOULL GET RIPPED OFF
I have hundreds of downloads on my Ipad and I would like to see them on my phone. Do I need to re-download everything, or is there a way to sync my devices? I’ve logged in with the same account on both but my phone still shows an empty library. Thank you
Hello, When I open a score and try to go back and forth between pages, the app crashes. I’ve tried this on multiple scores and I get the same result each time.

I have no idea who designed this over complicated mess, but this app is a disaster. The search button doesn't work at all on the iPad and the search function on the phone is completely unintuitive. The website is great, but this could have been so much better.
I wrote down bowings and fingerings and after the update, all of them were either scattered throughout the page or somehow the pages where I wrote things got mixed up. Had to completely redo and think of new fingerings and bowings….
I pay a yearly membership fee to imslp. I don’t understand why I would have to pay a monthly fee using the app! I would like to use the app but not if I have to pay monthly especially, since I only use imslp once or twice in a year.
The app worked for a few weeks. Then it wouldn’t start. So I restarted the iPad. The app starts now, but all my music and annotation are gone. I’m so disappointed :( now I’m trying to figure out whether Forscore can do any better.
