The 2022 calendar is gorgeous, with lots to do, some delightful surprises, and beautiful graphics. My sister and I have taken to screen snapping our creations and sharing with each other. This is a lovely way to welcome the winter holiday season. One request: please consider including some of the music from what I think was the first Jacquie Lawson advent calendar, the seaside one. I don’t think that music has ever been used again, and it was exquisite—Archangelo Corelli’s Christmas Concerto and Tchaikovsky’s December from The Seasons are now part of my permanent Christmas soundtrack. I would love it if they, and the other music from the Seaside Christmas were used again.
Nice artwork, enjoyable activities, and fun games. This is all great but still the app does not operate properly. Two minutes after launching the app, the villagers you see walking back and forth past the cottages and over the bridge disappear for good (but on computer they don’t). I informed the help line about this early in November and after receiving a number of contradictory responses I was told that the techs were working on a fix for this. Now it is a month later and the problem persists. Very poor responsiveness! This app is more expensive than it once was and is only relevant for a month or so. So it should function properly - or be fixed in a timely manner if it works erratically or a customer reports a bug. Customers pay for it to operate properly. * What ever happened to the cats and dogs that were part of the cozy “home” scene? They were a lovely part of the app in years gone by! * Decorating Christmas trees is fun but there is a glitch. You can click on an ornament to try and put it where you want it but it does not always appear. If it does, and then you try to drag it to a new location, it tends to disappear (this has not been a problem with past Advent calendars).
These advent adventures are always beautiful and well done. However, I am sad to see that there is no dog or cat in your living room this year. Furthermore, the fact that the elves are not on display once you find them is disappointing. I do like the gifts from the little fairy in your window. There’s not as much to change in your room: You can’t change the style of garland, for example. Outside, you cannot change as many lights and decorations as in previous years, nor can you choose to stop the snow. There are no factoids about the location (like with the London advent). The Nordic advent will always be #1. Nothing can compare to that. It’s incredibly unfortunate that it’s no longer available because I believe it would be a best seller. (Also, I miss mine very much. My laptop broke, and that was the year before the advents could be installed on something other than PC or accessed from multiple devices, so the beauty is all gone.) Keep up the great work, but fans will remain disappointed unless the next advent is Nordic-level amazing.
I have gotten every JL Advent calendar and love seeing the progression of the skills and creativity over the years to this absolutely amazing 2022 calendar. It’s the little extra surprise you find when you click on an area that make it so fun. I send these to family members every year and we text every day sharing what we have found and how cute and fun that day of the calendar is. The most important thing is that JL has not lost their sense of who they are as a card company and what sentiment they want to portray and that’s why I am such a devoted follower of their company and send their cards all year long. Great job staff! PS……one tiny regret this year is that the kitten is not in the home place. I always loved going into the room everyday and finding her in a different place and making her meow…..I did find her in the upper window of a shop which was a wonderful surprise!
So often I have looked at a beautiful winter scene and wished I knew somebody who lived there. I sometime feel cold and lonely because I don’t have any place to go in a scene like that. Thank you Jacqueline Lawson for giving me a beautiful warm room right in the middle of town to relax in as I enjoy the music and games around me. It means so much, more than words can describe, and is one reason why I love your Advent calendars so much. I also want to give you special thanks for the stained glass opportunity that included the Queen. I miss her so much and to find her remembered in the little chapel where I placed the stained glass gsve me a feeling of peace and comfort. This advent calendar is incredibly beautiful and so fun and relaxing. A joy to look forward to every day in December. The surprises are so fun to discover, such as discovering that the snowflakes you design for the window in your Sussex home appear as falling snowflakes outdoors. Finding the elf each day. Seeing the sky in the scene change with the time of day—from dawn to daylight to night. Being able to turn on lights and candles and change furniture and other items. Interesting stories, games, and recipes. A true gem of programming. I love the beautiful music. I give several as gifts each year and people love them. A bargain at $7.
They had a hard time making the transition to using an app instead of a website but it’s generally back to being good. A couple of concerns. On my download in the word game, Flora level medium, level 3 doesn’t work which means that I can’t do the rest of that level. Other one is always before when you found the gnome, he showed up in the room. Not doing it this year. Finally the daily surprise is just a video. Before it was a new thingie like decorating Christmas cookies.
I received my first JL advent calendar in 2006 as a gift, and I’ve gotten them almost every year since! First, my own boys LOVED opening their little videos each day and exploring the app. NOW, I teach 1st grade and I can project it onto my whiteboard...with my little magic pen, the kids can interact right at the whiteboard! I’ve gifted this calendar more times than I can remember!! Thank you to the JL team for creating such a sweet, charming, family-friendly advent calendar to enjoy each holiday season! I’m already looking forward to next year’s calendar!
I’ve purchased this for the last several years. It’s a little treat I give myself, no calories involved. I like having something just for me when I’ve been running around doing everything for everyone else during this busy season. I enjoy the activities, the games and the graphics. It may sound odd, but I miss having pets this year. I like to “visit” my apartment and it was nice to have a cat and a dog Curled up by the fire waiting for me. It made it feel more homelike
I’ve been gifted the JL advent calendar since it started (maybe?) and loved each year but sometimes found myself missing certain parts. This year the project team seems to have really incorporated previous years feedback and I am loving my Sussex advent. I love how each year is unique and this year seems to be a great mix of daily videos, games and activities. I know this project can’t be an easy task so thanks to the whole JL advent team for making my season merry and bright !
Having fun with this version but miss the dogs and kitties
I like this version better than last year. This is my third year, with the first being my favorite. I like there is more to do with interactive themes, new games, and puzzles. Hoping the dogs and cats will appear before the end of the advent. They bring some calmness to this hectic time of year. Hopefully next year they are there every day in the room to enjoy.
Beautiful scenery & fun activities. Beyond the readily apparent activities (some available from day 1, some become available as part of the advent activities), click around within the room & the town, as there are various things that light up, can be customized, etc. Be sure to notice the new packages that appear in the room every day. I do miss the cats & dogs that were in the room in past years; I’m still hopeful they’ll show up.
I so enjoyed this advent calendar ! I had downloaded a couple in the prior years and wanted to revisit and get the 2023! Loved so much about this one ! Thanks so much for all the details and making it so much fun and so beautiful! The snowball thrown at you was so fun! Thanks for all the hard work you put into making these. I did miss the doggie and kittens in main room ! I am still looking for one elf ! It still gives me an excuse to go back and enjoy !
I’ve been getting the Advent calendar for the last 4-5 years and each one is unique. I’ve already decorated my tree and made my snowflakes. I love that the clock is there again, making the winding noise when you touch it. Each year has been a different part of the country, and being American I like the little history lesson involved with each one. Can’t wait for Dec. 1st!
Combines the scenic beauty and interesting daily videos of the Nordic calendar which I loved - with daily activities and games for those who have missed those options. I look forward to opening each day. I also like that finding the daily elf is hard - keeps me on my toes. Then love the daily gift that appears in my home after finding the elf.
This is beautiful, and there are plenty of games to tide me over until December. The problem is the music keeps going away. Some days it is there and some days it isn’t. I have rebooted my i phone and uninstalled and reinstalled the app twice. It doesn’t make a difference. It’s frustrating because the music is lovely when it plays.
Always love and look forward to the calendars each year. Gnome elves are cute! Wish I could get past Flora medium #3 word puzzle but there is a glitch as another mentioned. Too bad because we can’t finish the rest of the puzzle. Also wish our furry friends could chill with us in the home setting as in years past. Thank you!
A friend gifted me with this calendar and I am looking at it today, on Christmas, since I was “too busy” to follow it each day. I’m enjoying it as a private Christmas movie. The artwork is astounding and the music is beautiful. I’m using an iPad Pro and no glitches so far; guessing you need strong WI-FI for this to run smoothly. Gentle, soothing and suitable for anyone who appreciates the Christmas spirit.

After 3 days, this app only partially works. I keep getting a window that says I must “ purchase the app” to use it, but I already did! Tried to do the help chat- never available. Emailed the help line- just got a response(8 days later!)that “ there’s no record of my purchase”, meanwhile I’m out $7.99 and they don’t care. I’ve used this Advent Calendar and the Country Cottage in prior years with no problems at all. This year is a HUGE disappointment. Won’t purchase their products again.
All the magic of the season with fun interactive activities each day, a find a gnome, and special present! So happy you have brought back the creative days ! We enjoy all the days with making snowmen, wreaths etc! We missed those the last few years and are so glad they have been added back❤️

This is my second Advent calendar, and I’m enjoying it overall. Beautiful artwork and features. But I really miss having the dog(s) and cats in “our” home in the village. As another reviewer wrote, they bring a calming presence, especially for those of us who can’t have pets of our own. I do love the little dog in the snow fort.
I purchased the Sussex calendar because I enjoyed last year’s London one. The artwork is lovely and each day I look forward to seeing what is new. I like the feature of the gifts in the apartment. I agree with another review that it would be great to have pets in the house. Lawson’s design is always gorgeous.
Lots of improvements from last year’s. This year has a better balance of videos to activities. I like that there is also a gift to open in the house everyday. Rolling out activities has been a good way to keep the novelty of the app.
Having a great experience with my iPad version. The only exception is the word game flora medium level three as it only has one tile with the letter I so there is no way to advance. Sure wish that could be fixed. Otherwise thanks once again for adding to our Christmas fun.
The app is beautiful. I’m such a Christmas lover, that even in June it’s nice to visit the Advent calendar to hear the gorgeous music and watch the snowfall. The activities are fun, the characters (especially the pups and kitties) are enjoyable to watch, and the decorations are wonderful. Looking forward to 2024 Christmas season.
I have tried multiple times to download the app, but it will not install on my phone. My wife was able to download it, and the advent calendar looks fantastic this year. However, we just tried using it on the first day of December and it wouldn’t open on her computer. She was able to open it on her iPhone, but the sound isn’t working. Very disappointing so far this year.
Someone spent actual money to send me this advent calendar and the app crashes as soon as I try to log in. It took 4 tries before I was able to access the calendar, which is comprised of glitchy flash animations with no sound despite having settings to control the music and volume (the only thing I’ve ever liked about Jacquie Lawson cards is that they’re calming scenes set to beautiful music). The app crashes often and the interface is outdated. Please save your money.
Love love love this year’s. So much more to discover. Love all the games and little surprises. You have really outdone yourselves. Thanks for changing the card design for solitaire, so much easier to see. Great combo of design-play (snowflakes etc etc) and other games. Thanks JL team!!! Can’t wait to see tomorrow’s :)
I love the calendar this year. It's been so much fun and it's only nine days in. I love the gifts each day and the train is wonderful. So many more opportunities to be creative. When your family is not close this helps brighten the holiday. Thank you for all the details!
I’ve loved the Christmas advent calendars for years now, and this year is no exception. I do wish some of the animations would be a little more updated year to year, but otherwise continuing to love it!
I look forward to seeing the advent calendar every year and have been getting them for a few years now. They are always wonderfully detailed and have beautiful music selections.
Love it but am frustrated by the word puzzle error
Level three of the medium hard flora puzzle only shows one letter for me (The I) so I cannot complete it or any others in the medium category Besides this, I love these calendars every time I get them. Would be nice with a few more carols though, as it gets pretty tedious with the same few playing in loop

This was my second year receiving one of these advents as a gift. While the animation and illustration in the events is beautiful, my app would not play any audible sound or music despite having all settings/permissions set correctly and volume up. :(

This was a great app for my grandsons and I to play before Christmas. The search for the elves and videos were fun. The game section was good to find a new package to open each day.
I bought the Advent calendar through the Apple App Store. It stopped working and locked me out on Day 4 saying I had to re-purchase it. Support doesn’t seem to be able to help me. Several other people I know are having the exact same problem. I have really enjoyed it in past years but not sure I will waste another $7.99 next year.
Love the Advent Calendar and games. Very creative app and makes for engaging experience. Can’t use it now though because of update. I don’t want to update. We paid for the old version and so now I didn’t even get to use the calendar because it won’t let me access anything.
I look forward to this calendar every year, and I think this is the best one yet. It is filled with fun games , beautiful scenery and wonderful music. Keep up the good work JL crew!
The cats and dogs are my four year olds favorite part but they were no where to be found in this year’s version. Sadly I feel the quality has declined each year we’ve purchased this.

Another lovely year of the advent calendar, however I have no sound. I've checked that other apps are able to play sound and it is just the advent calendar.
I enjoyed last years and was excited for this years but when I downloaded it this morning the sound doesn’t work. It’s beautiful but not the same without the sounds and music working
The calendar is very nice and the graphics are fantastic but I miss the kittens and dog. It was so nice seeing them in different parts of the room. It made the home feel so much more like a home. Please bring them back.
