KSAT 12 Weather Authority

That's right. The latest update ruined a wonderful app. I no longer use it. I've gone to using WeatherBug. KSAT radar now seems to continuously place my location at their downtown offices in San Antonio though I'm outside the city. Even though I continually change this in settings, they override my input to place radar back downtown. I could care less what's happening in downtown San Antonio. However I'd love to view radar where I'm located. Also you can't get today's weather for more 3 hours. Big Whoop! I'm interested in the changes throughout the afternoon and evening. What a waste! Yet it will give me an hourly review if tomorrow, just not today. Horrible App!!!! Switch to WeatherBug. It's too cluttered and radar is a pain but it's 1000% percent better than KSAT's failed and disappointing update.

Love the app, but what does a person want to see as soon as they open the app? I want to know “What is the high and the low going to be today”? On the new version for the iphone, there’s no place to see this on the opening screen. You can read it in the narrative (kind of) but it doesn’t show up on the top section which shows the current temp... nor does it show up in the second section which has a snapshot for the day including UV index, dew point and visibility. The SEVENTH section shows the NEXT five days but not today. The only way to see today’s high and low is to go to the FIFTH section and click on the “next 10 days”. There you can see today’s high and low. Can you please add it to one of the top two sections?

I like the numerous updates to the weather conditions and predictions throughout the day. The predictions are reliable, so that I can plan my day, plus it’s very interesting to see the updates that lightning was detected, say, 4 miles away, and then one mile away, and then nearby, and to feel the thunder as those strikes occurred. The same with notifications about rainfall, or snow, or whatever precipitation is in the air, and wind gust alerts. Having the various radar maps available is quite handy, as well as getting notifications of current conditions, and of the pollen counts when available. This is a very useful app!

Love the KSAT weather team, but I’ve had a LOT of problems with this app. Best Feature: updates from the local meteorologists. Problems: —The app defaults on opening to the map. I don’t want the map first. I want the forecast first. Always. There doesn’t appear to be any way to make the app open with the forecast. Every other app opens with the forecast, which is, of course, the whole reason you have a weather app. —“Current Location” option on the app does not always update, so it will give you the wrong forecast. —It’s often buggy trying to add cities/locations and won’t add them if you select what it thinks is the wrong location option for a city. —Right now it will not add Houston, TX as a location. I have to choose one of the airports (the only 2 options it gives) and it will not let me generically select “Houston” when it has allowed that in the past. Same problem for other cities. —It will only save about 4-5 locations. If you go beyond that, it deletes previously saved cities. I travel and need many locations. Other apps let you have as many locations as you want. As much as I really, really love the KSAT team, for the time being, I’ll probably have to use a different weather app as my go-to. 😢

The app was easy to read and navigate before. I definitely do NOT like the fact that I now have to scroll horizontally to see the weather for the day! It needs to go back to the vertical on this. I also have issues now with it not scrolling smoothly. It keeps catching for a few seconds as I'm trying to scroll which, when combined with the horizontal scroll where I have to scroll a lot more to see the days forecast, makes it extremely annoying! It looks pretty but I'm assuming that to get this update paid for you had to add all the excessive pop up ads. Overall, I'm thinking about deleting this app. It is no longer as user friendly and convenient! Update on review: I finally deleted this app! I really used it a lot until everything changed! I miss the ease of seeing the daily forecast and temperature. It is not as easy to read. When you change it back, I'll download it again. Until then, I'm done with it! I

Overall the app is a great asset. Pretty easy to use. I would love to have a separate section for live broadcast. I know you put a link on the “home” tab but it gets lost in other text and pre recorded video forecasts. The thing that distinguishes reporting for me is the live component so I can hear from moment to moment what I need to know. My other suggestion is to think critically of keeping ads on live videos. This is weather and a few minutes could save someones life. We shouldnt have to sit through an ad if we need immediately to hear this news. Please continue to help us to stay safe by eliminating ads and allowing us to directly access the live content. Thank you!

Thank you KSAT Weather Team, for always being consistent! Each weather cast member is equipped with excellent knowledge and skill sets. However, neither one ever contradicts the other, (trust me I look for that). All members are on the same page, which only proves Teamwork and consistency. I can only hope your Team STAYS TOGETHER as a family, as you are already FAMILY to my Family and everyone one who watches you in South Texas.

Horrible upgrade from previously great, simple to use & view KSAT weather app. This one is just the opposite. A horribly laid out, use-unfriendly app that puts advertising for bucks ahead of user experience. Who wants to scroll up and down to view hourly and daily synopsis? Not me, and I’m sure not tons of others. The same with what was an almost perfect weather radar that was front and foremost the best festure on the app. Now the radar is just as worthless and user-unfriendly as the rest of the app. In fact, even worse. It’s huge and they’ve incorporated a scroll and enlarge Apple app feature that make it incredibly hard to use and view. And the rest of the app is just as useless. What the hell were you thinking KSAT weather-meister? I don’t know but Its not working. This app needs to be replaced and KSAT needs a new weather-meister!

Weather is ever hanging, and being informed is critical at times of crisis. I live the way the KSAT Team work past typical working hours during storms to assist the public. They take their job seriously, and I like the way they forecast the “next 48 hours” option of Weather hour by hour. As a Caregiver it is important for medical equipment & issues to stay informed.

Prefer the app prior to this overhaul. To many clicks to see what used to be one click. They tried to hard. It’s cumbersome. Bloated. The UI is not friendly. Also there is no estimated wind speeds showing for the future cast. Only place I see wind speeds is at the current time. For someone who does road cycling I like to know what the wind speeds will be for a day or 2 ahead. The have this when they report on air so don’t see why it can’t be incorporated into the app. The app overhaul really leaves much to be desired. The old version had more info and was easier to navigate. The whole “next 48 hours” is lame. Hour by hour is annoying to read and should be given as an option. I hate to go back to weatherbug but at this point it definitely does a better job then this version of ksat’s weather app. It has its own issues but overall is better. I’ll have to check back after a few more version updates to this app.

Whether We are at home or traveling, this app keeps us up-to-date. My husband travels three days a week and it doesn't matter what city he is in he can always keep up with the latest weather in that area. At home it keeps us up-to-date on upcoming storms and warnings. We have deleted all other weather apps and rely on this one alone. This app beats out the national weather app by a country mile. Thanks !!!!!!

Every time I use the app it sits there forever with a little circle going around and around right in the middle where I live and I have a hard time really seeing anything. The page won’t move or do anything. I have removed it and added the app again and for one or two cycles it is fine then it happens again. I have to go to Kens after that. KSAT has always been my favorite station but this is getting me down.

Good in Christ! Edmundo Ramon Losoya; everything looks fine with the weather station in San Antonio. The weather crew there is excellent. I look forward to watch at KSAT12 for many years to come. I hope I will be old and wise someday and I will still be able to watch this station to the fullest. I hope I am writing sufficient words to write a good review. The KSAT weather team does way more than report weather. They actually explain the “why” of weather. Weather reports are like mini meteorology lessons. Viewers are being educated about all aspects of weather and climate. The team is very knowledgeable and professional in their reporting with lots of personality as an added plus. You all are the BEST.

This is my first time writing a review for an app and I had to go to AppStore and search. I really like having the daily notifications and the personalization from your staff and the funny/unique San Antonio commentary around the weather. I love getting the notifications to with what’s approaching weather wise and advisories. Tbh best weather app out there for my city.

It’s not as good as it was before. I am out in Bandera and I need to know what the weather forecast is mostly in case it freezes. But I cannot change locations all I can get is San Antonio. It use to be When I click San Antonio I was able to choose another location but now it just stays SanAntonio. They recently sent another satellite up into outer space maybe a year ago that was supposed to improve weather forecasts but I haven’t seen anything better. Make this more “user friendly” remember that old 90’s term? Yeah, ... it’s more like this is what you get from us enjoy it ... or not.

This has been my only iPad weather app. I've been able to use it even out of town or out of state for San Antonio weather as well as for my current location. It doesn't work for me now. My usual daily and 10-day forecasts appear very different, radar is a quarter screen now, and I tried the earthquake map as well as others: nothing works like it used to. Don't know what happened but I may as well turn on The Weather Channel; it shows at least as much as I'm seeing now on my KSAT 12 Weather Authority App.

As an elderly , knowing what to expect weather wise is very important because our body temperature regulating system is not working up to par and we need to try to dress appropriately so we do not become hyper or hypothermic and your weather reports have been very accurate and reported with enough heads up time to be prepared so yes thank you .

You really should review how you send out alerts, or at least let me turn some off. While I understand it is bad weather right now, I don’t think I should have gotten 30 alerts overnight for 8 hours of sleep. I have gotten at least 10 more in the last 4 hours. Most are redundant information. You only give the option to get alerts or not get alerts. So I am going to delete the app because why have it if I have alerts turned off.

I don’t mind advertisements on the bottom or side or have a top banner showing this but to use an advertisement that blocks your entire view of the weather is aggravating. I would think that weather new is a priority rather than a full page advertisement.

I love the immediate information received on my KSAT Weather app. I found out the hard way a few years ago right before a bad hail storm. I could’ve put my son’s car in garage and was watching cable. No local news to warn me. Now i have both the weather and news apps to update me all day. I know what’s going on before i get a chance to watch the news!

Weather channel app was too often incorrect. KSAT was my go to for allergy reports. I decided to try the weather app. It’s good. I even like the little commentary text messages that I get about the weather or upcoming weather events. I will try to silence those, however, I don’t need the disruption. I do like the info.

I thoroughly enjoy Sarah and Katie and even Shorty. They are professional and very intelligent weather people their attitudes and how they work together make it a pleasure to watch. Now I know that they all are truly caring folks including Mike Osterhage. You all Make my day. Thank you for making my life a little brighter each day. GOD BLESS you all at KSAT

Thank you for all you do, with all that y’all do it’s great to see y’all going in and keeping us informed of the weather. KSAT link is so people friendly. I too have to go into work for Northside ISD as a school secretary, so knowing the weather is always a positive way I start my day. Love you all and thank you again.

I LOVE THIS APP OH MA GAWD! I love watching the news and I LOVVE checking up on accurate weather sources and this source is THE BEST. KSAT is always accurate with their weather and i love that I have a little news weather app on my phone 💁🏻‍♀️. I also love how they add videos explains the weather and how it will be for the week!!!!

Pop ups slow app down tremendously and cause you to “accidentally” tap on them. On Home Screen ads are just as enraging as the pop ups. They’re so sensitive that when you try to scroll they click instead and take you to some spam website on safari. Overall ok app and horrible abuse of pop up/wallpaper ad links. I’ll be using another local weather app instead.

Adam, love to watch your forecast, your smooth and to the point. You make weather forecasting look so easy. I watch the video daily for my weather updates, but lately the video ad is almost 2 minutes long!! This is ridiculously long and beats a record for longest required ad to watch. Come on ksat, let’s be realistic. Also, I am getting really disgusted by the multiple and large ear wax ads (with photos of large dirty ear wax) too. It’s disgusting and makes me not want to use your app, even though I love your meteorologists.

Tha app is amazing! I love how it has multiple functions with radar and weather news content that allows for tracking of the weather in whatever location I am in.

The app tells you the weather but most of the time is wrong it drive me crazy but it like 40% right and 50%right!!!!!!! It feels like they are guessing even though they kind of are any way if you want this app then you will not always get the Wright answer!. And really bad new update it ruined the app wish it was to the way it was

I love the personality that shows through with the updates. I rely on this app over Weather Channel app. I also appreciate the pollen count in numbers not just high, low but actual numbers.

Very accurate and clear report. I like the most is the teaching included in the weather report. The reporters have sparkling personalities and show truly concerns about the community during imminent weather. Thank you for been there for the city of San Antonio and our beloved lone star state.

So glad I finally got this app. If I get busy and miss the news(which I hate to do), I can read the updates throughout the day. I’m a Houston transplant. Humidity finally got to us! We are retired and LOVE the hill country beauty. Keep up the great work.

The best local weather app, and the only one I use. ...easy to navigate, always current. It’s especially nice to be able to get to the radar so easily and toggle back and forth between options.

I had to disable the alerts because they would send 8-10 alerts a day to let you know it’s going to rain. One alert would have sufficed. I don’t remember if it was this app or their regular news app but one of them would even send you an alert to watch Good Morning America. If they can get these alerts under control I would rate them higher.

Do not like this new version. Harder to navigate. Was able to actually see our ranch in Karnes County and the stock pond and see the weather and see the rain going through. Following the county roads are harder to navigate. It will show farm roads at one starting point only and not periodically if it is long. Do not know who developed it but the previous one was a lot better. Also think you need to only do a five day out forecast and not 10days out. Y’all can never get it right even 3days out.

Although I considered your app the best weather app (free or paid), I was pleasantly surprised to see this glorious update. It’s so much more user friendly that I may forgo using my other weather apps to get all the information I need quickly. Congrats!

I’m like the live updates especially during late or early mornings hours about the severe weather Adam is awesome at explaining everything about why this is happening and what is gonna happen.

I haven’t been using KSAT 12 weather app very long,but I like it very much. I have tried (and have)3-4 weather apps. This weather app seems to be very accurate. I have been comparing it with others including NOAA and Meteo from Europe and it stands the test. It also seems to be accurate with my favorites. Very pleased and I plan on keeping it!

I am obsessed with this app. I turned on my notifications and I love them. It lets me know when rain is detected near my location and updates you on any and all weather throughout the day!

Finally a weather channel that thinks like us weather geeks/aficionados. It doesn’t get any better! From personalized forecasts to long range forecasts and let’s not forget those juicy tidbits of weather history both local and national. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! ......Ray Flores

Better than the weather channel that seemed to have too much hype. I’m glad it covers other cities too not just San Antonio. A friend told me about it and I intend to pass it on!

The weather team at KSAT 12 gives out up to date weather reports and keeps their audience informed. Love it and thank you for always keeping San Antonio and the surrounding areas informed and ready for weather changes on the horizon.

Love the app so much for a long time now. However, not liking the new pop ups every single time u use it. I live in the hill country and use it a lot. Occasionally not an issue but every time :( Boo! Love KSAT!♥️

I loved this app until the ads recently started. Each time I change a screen another ad pops up. I believe I will just delete your app and use another of the many free apps.

I use this weather channel exclusively because to me it is the most reliable. And I love how I can receive alerts from locations that I follow or that I am planning to visit.

Features on the site cover every aspect of local weather, long range forecasts and national/world issues at hand. One-stop weather 24/7.

Love, love, love our meteorologists! We are so lucky to have such knowledgeable and friendly people working here! Everyone is articulate and easy to understand! Love the app too, easy to use, the Doppler is pretty accurate and timely! Love getting the little pop up notices!

I love the Ksat App , it has literally helped me a lot recently with the ever changing weather . I have respect and admiration for all the Meteorologist @ Ksat . The latest version of the app is not as good an experience as before. Sliding through hours and days (forecast) is clunky. The in app advertising reminds me of the cheap game apps. I hope you can find a single sponsor like before.
