Wish video stabilization mode worked

Love this broadcaster but if there were two things I wish it had… video stabilization that worked. Lots of settings but none work. Also wish there was a feedback mechanism in app vs having to go write a review with feedback for an app I pay monthly for. :)

Getting worse and worse… Been using the app for over a year

UPDATE: I did update to your new version from 2 days ago, and the rotation bug is NOT fixed for overlays on PREVIEW, which I use extensively to read live chat and alerts! Its still upside down on preview and only right side up on the live end feed. Please test your product because its frustrating having to pay subscription for the product and be your QA as well. I use the software 5 days a week and this has been broken for 2 versions now, I can now only broadcast without live rotation mode until this is fixed… very frustrated. Had no problem with paying monthly fee except now there are more bugs than ever!! Latest bug makes overlays upside down when using live rotation mode, is there anyone even testing this app before releasing new versions? Not to mention it now crashes freq and does not support srtla … it was a good app I will give it one more week to fix the upside down overlays before deleting and cancel my monthly sub.

Was an amazing app until they decided to paywall free streaming and watermark your stream

Great features! Best live streaming app out there especially for twitch IRL from an iPhone. until recently you could go live as long as you wanted no issues. Now if you stream over 30 minutes they place an ugly watermark over your stream unless you pay them 9.99 a month. This is unacceptable especially with the lack of a manual and explanation of features. I googled “audio engine Larix” to see how this feature works and there is little or no information explaining most of the features in the app. They also offer ndi streaming for $20 and fail to explain what the feature provides. Do I no longer need a server to push my feed to OBS if I use NDI over cellular data? That’s the only way I can justify paying $20 a month since servers cost money. I am confused. Maybe work on some documentation for your software then start charging for basic features that were already free.

Fantastic Restream Integration & Wonderful App

Every once in a great while you stumble across an app that just comes out of the gate doing everything nearly perfectly, and this is one of those apps. After live-streaming music from a full desktop setup for a few months due to quarantines I was looking for a way to take my multi-platform streaming solution back out to live gigs with the same improved audio & video quality I was able to achieve in a studio setting. Many other apps and in-platform streaming solutions exist but provide limited functionality over video resolution, audio interface selection and encoding, etc. Larix allows me to do absolutely everything I did in the studio, including using a stereo external USB audio interface, customizing resolution and bitrate, recording locally, and streaming to multiple platforms. Literally the ONLY change is a step down to an iPhone camera from a full external DSLR, and that is absolutely incredible. I cannot say GOOD JOB loud enough with this one, and I can’t wait to see where the team goes from here! Thanks for making this. -Dave

Heading in the wrong direction

This app has constantly been my “go to” app for streaming RTMP from my phone. It has solid features, it is reliable, and easy to use. I have recommended this app to many people over the years, as I use this technology almost daily. Recently, I’ve been watching as each update takes away standard features and puts them behind a rather premium subscription - $9.99 a month or roughly $120 a year. Most recently, a limitation was added to free streaming to your own self-hosted endpoint. My streams are usually about two hours long and would be cut off. While I completely understand needing to make profit on one’s labor, I cannot justify spending that kind of money on this product when there are other capable apps that allow free streaming and pay-once-for-the-feature upgrades. Furthermore, slowly taking away features that were already part of the app’s free offerings and placing them behind a paywall, in my opinion, is not good. The app is great and functions well (5 stars). The pricing scheme has forced me to look elsewhere (-2 stars).

Audio issues with recent update

Long time user and huge fan of this excellent application. That said, with one of the recent updates, we are now experiencing audio anomalies that are not hardware related. We use Larix and Facebook live to stream our services and there is now a loud distortion/popping anomaly that occurs with increasing frequency the longer the stream runs. Not sure how to proceed in isolating the problem and was not able to locate a proper channel to reach support. Any advice would be appreciated.

Works but keep an eye on your stream

This app works great and has great customization features. Especially in regards to quality for low bandwidth environments. My only issue is the auto focus, the app will auto focus every other second and you can see it on the app and on the stream. If you change lenses, it’ll help a little but if you do it while transmitting then the audio encoder will crash and make everything sound like chipmunks. If these issues didn’t exist, I’d give 5 stars.

Eh… subscriptions

I loved the app when it was free now that it has subscriptions with bugs that have been there since the beginning it sorta is disappointing to see. The bug that I been running into is while swapping between cameras it sometimes causes the application to drop all audio. If that was fixed possibly maybe I’d consider getting the subscription but until then I’ll see myself out. All I can ask is to please reconsider I get it is better to get paid for your work but at least fix the bugs before you decide to make it a paid product.

Great App - Simple and Effective

Great app that we have relied on for a while now! The new update is fantastic that allows for use of the multiple cameras on my iPhone 11 Pro Max but I wish it would say the current zoom level so I know what camera it is using much like the built in camera app shows. Other than that we love this app and will continue using it!

This is the first time I have actually left a review for an app. I can only echo what Dave already said. This app is a beautiful gem within an ocean of not so great rtmp “irl” streaming apps. Also the fact you can send to multiple destinations from the phone!! Hands down this is the best app to send an rtmp feed from your iPhone, believe me I have gone through about 16 of them.

You just ruined a good thing

It would have been nice to have received an email notice that you were changing to a subscription based service. You offered something really great for churches, enabling those of us who are small, to go live and have a presence out there. But to only find out that you now charge and cut us off on the day we need you the most…really poor business practice. Your generosity was great while it lasted but if this is the way you do business we can’t be involved. Thanks for the NO heads-up.

The best in the game

If you want to live stream from a phone, this is by far the best option. I’ve been using it for 2+ years now and it’s constantly improving, and the developers are incredibly responsive. Thanks Larix team for making such a great app that everyone can enjoy!

The best

I tried pretty much EVERY iPhone app available for live streaming and Larix is far and away the best. After 4 months of use, never a dropped connection, great SRT AND H.265 connectivity, ability to switch portrait to landscape on the fly.........Larix covers all the bases. Larix Grove makes it a snap to communicate the correct settings to “naive” user in the field. FINALLY, something that just f’ing works!!

Unfortunate pricing tier

I’ve used this app for several years to broadcast softball games in the Gamechanger app because it allowed me to zoom in and out and add a team overlay. I broadcast a handful of games a month just for fun. $9.99 is a little much but for just using it 2-3 times a month for kids softball at 720p. Oh well. If you added a cheaper pricing tier at maybe $2.99 or $4.99 I’d be happy to support your work. Maybe lower pricing for limited use or lower quality?

Quiet but mighty!

Update July 2023: Instead of offering new, add on features behind a paywall, developers blanketed a $9.99 monthly charge on everything. Greedy and deceitful. 5 stars for functionality, 1 star for taking advantage of your customers. **** First for the developer: Can you add a switch to disable the iPhone’s image stabilization? I am streaming from a moving vehicle, and the smallest windshield vibration causes the stabilization to over correct resulting in jello. (It’s the phone not the app) I don’t know what else to say about this app, but it just does what it is supposed to. No gimmicks, no problems, just runs perfectly for hours on end. I used it with an iPhone 6 for 8hrs a day over 10 days to feed live storm chase video online. Flawless.

Hello Thanks guys for your huge effort i really like this app its like a masterpiece for the streaming community I have some suggestions.: 1.Can you please add. A way to set custom resolution and make the image adapt to that resolution like how OBS works you set a custom canvas size and you can resize your image and stretch it as much as you want. 2. Streaming with OBS

Just used the app on an iPad for a one hour live stream. Larix connected to an nginx rtmp server feeding OBS Studio, which added graphics and other content and then on to Facebook Live. It all worked flawlessly. It’s a nice way to use a quality IOS device in lieu of a cheap webcam.

Exactly what I needed

I've started streaming recently and have used this app 3 times for for up to 4 hours at a time with no issues. Pinch and zoom works well and I'm able to change the resolution through the app. Solid

Features that were free are getting locked behind subscriptions

Our production team is looking into alternative setups, losing HEVC was a bit of a challenge, but a 30 minute limit halts us completely. Reasonable cost if you’re able to afford it, but if you’re running really slim it’s a bit of an ask for multi-cam coverage.

Strange onboarding

App opens to black screen and immediately demands access to camera. If you decline, that’s it — no further controls / progress. Seems a little user-unfriendly. How about some sort of landing screen where we can see the app controls first. I know it needs camera access to work, but can’t we get a look at the app first, and then give the camera permissions? Feels too abrupt.

Terrible Separation of Features

I get that developers need to eat, but the separation of features between normal and pro is absurd. Especially the time limit. I’m already paying in time, electricity, and my own bandwidth to self host an SRT instance, so getting cut off at the 1 hour mark despite using my own infrastructure is absurd. There are ways to monetize while still building trust in your user base, but this ain’t it.

Over priced

Was looking to stream my kids ball games but $10/month for a couple games is way to much for how much I use it. Needs to be cheaper or have a lifetime license. There isn’t a lot of updates to the app so it’s just greed at this point.

Feature request - Multi cam support

App is great - probably the best no-frills live streaming app on IOS. Would be nice if the developers could add support for the multiple cameras found on the IPhone 11 and 11 Pro. Thanks.

Won’t show the camera on IPhone 7 Plus

Trying to use it on my iPhone 7 Plus and the camera won’t show up but I hit allow on everything and it still won’t work

Bring back the old simple version

The old version was better. It was red button with white letters that said Broadcast, Simple and Easy. The newer releases are disappointing. Red button is smaller, no screen adjust for 4:3 or 16:9 etc. would be great if a settings cog can be added to the app and adjust some settings during live broadcasting.

Used to Work

I use an iPhone 7 and ever since the last update I haven’t been able to setup a live stream. When I paste a URL in connections and then hit done it just goes away. We use the app every week to live stream our church meetings and I’m the only one with unlimited data. I had a friend try it on a newer iPhone and it worked fine. Please fix it.

Great app

I use this 2-4 times a week for my streaming site lyfstreams. It’s works amazingly. We use this broadcaster specially for our site. Multiple girls use it. User friendly.

Was great, but I think I’m done with it

Seemed to be reliable and fully featured. Then then started charging $10/m or $120/yr and even though I paid, I get a stupid red text warning overlaid on the video saying I need a subscription. How ridiculous. Need to get a refund then move on

Terrible

This used to be a very good app. Instead of creating new features and charging for those, they took features that we had already been used to for free and started charging for them. This is the opposite of the way apps should be.

Pricing is absurd

You could pay $10 a month for access to 80 million songs no matter where you go in the world You could pay under $10 a month to stream hundreds of thousands of hours of produced television shows and movies anywhere in the world You could pay $10 a month to have hundreds of games to literally own forever Or you could pay $10 a month to suddenly have to remove a watermark on a live-streaming app What a joke. Fix your pricing.

Great choice for live-streaming but with minor issue

Have been using Larix Broadcaster to livestream to Castr.io over cellular data. I love being able to adjust bitrate and resolution to keep data usage down. I appreciate the recent addition of the grid and the ability to fit the whole video on the screen rather than being stuck with fill. I have one relatively minor issue that is really frustrating. I use a PreSonus AudioBox iOne to bring sound from the sound mixer to my iPhone. Broadcaster recognizes the input just fine, but does not always correctly pick up the audio. The app tells me that it is using the iOne as the audio source, but there is no audio on the resulting video. I have to unplug the iOne and replug it 5-10 times before it will start using the audio correctly. This is not the case when I use the built in camera app for simple video recordings. I would love getting to the bottom of this problem so I don’t have to waste 5-10 minutes every time I want to steam to get the audio interface working properly. Edit: Post developer response. The iOne does not appear in the input device list. Only auto, internal mic, etc. When I am in the main view of the app, Broadcaster indicates that it switches to the iOne. It simply does not pick up on the actual audio feed. It is just silence. Only after replugging the lightning cable 6-10 times will it actually start using the audio from the iOne after recognizing it as the active input. The iOS camera app is 100% reliable. I’m willing to try whatever level of debugging that may be required except resetting my iPhone to factory.

Does what it says

Works perfectly with my private rtmp server using Nginx. I stream my son's travel hockey games. Only feature missing is the ability to copy saved videos over to the Camera Roll.

Amazingly simple and effective.

I agree with the previous review. Sometimes you run into hidden gems in the store. This is one. I was looking for a way to setup multiple cameras to RTSP servers. If you understand RTSP, RTMP and SRT protocols, even at a rudimentary level, this app is ridiculously easy to use, intuitive and effective. The ability to send links to people with Grove to instantly setup their connection or scan a QR code for config, such a great feature.

Excellent for Simple Church Services

We use Larix + RTMP (YouTube Live) on an old iPhone 6 as a push-button solution for our volunteer-run church service and it’s exactly what we need - set it and forget it.

Breaks stream every few seconds

I am not sure what changed but in the last few months Larix Broadcaster has become unusable from my iPhone the stream breaks Every few seconds pointed via RTMP to restrem.io.From my iPhone I can bring up re-stream live studio from the browser and I’m not losing any connectivity so it is definitely a problem with the Larix application.
