Medal.tv - #1 Social Clipping

I love Medal TV. Since the latest update, it’s hard to upload clips because uploading clips on Medal TV mobile app is broken. When I select any clip and then press next, the app crashes. Hopefully the issue get fixed soon so I can upload my clips from the mobile app so I don’t have to use the Medal TV PC app every single time just to upload clips Update: My clip was the wrong file format, maybe that’s why the app crashed. I made my clip MP4 file format, which had no issue on uploading

Very recently, I have become interested in using medal for gaming clips as I was interested because of its high quality and general unique platform and setting. Since many of my other friends used this app, it seemed like a very efficient and easy way to share gaming clips to my other friends. However, the app is very confusing and has no tutorial or guidance of how to use the app whatsoever, and I specifically wanted to create clips on mobile, but it had no guidance to help me understand how to make videos/stream clips (if you even can) on a mobile device. It only recommended me clips of people that im not even interested in, when I was focusing on creating my own content. I looked for information everywhere to try to get an understanding on how to use medal in general but it also was only directed to computer and laptop users, and if I cant do anything but follow or watch clips from people I dont even know, then what is the point of me even downloading the app? The design is really nice and I know that medal is very efficient but it heavily lacks features for mobile users and I felt very frustrated and irritated when trying to figure out how to create my own content. I love medal and I look forward to it, but I feel like it needs more room for mobile users. Sorry for the inconvenience.

One of the big selling features of the app is being able to edit your drafts offline. It simply gives an error. I don't know if nobody is able to, but having contacted customer support, it seems to be a common issue they have no solution for. --- UPDATE: everything in parenthesis below regarding the desktop app has been resolved, and was a GPU settings issue separate from but affecting Medal. Upped from 1-star, but only to a 3-star, as editing drafts still doesn't work and I still feel that should be the mobile app's main purpose. --- (Instead, I use the mobile app because all videos play at half speed, then pause to buffer, then skip to catch up in 5sec intervals on comp. Purged, reinstalled, and went through GPU control panel settings. My own videos play fine in other video players, so I have to have them open side-by-side to edit, which defeats the purpose of the built-in editor simplifying the process. --- Sticking around in hopes things improve, but unsure why they're marketing either as main functions when they don't work as intended yet. )

Very good product and they offer a lot for free, but they need to hire some real developers because whatever they have going right now is not working. The mobile app, web app, and desktop app are a complete mess. Sorting does not work at all and does not provide you with what you’d expect. Deleting a clip freezes the application. About half the time sharing a clip to iMessage doesn’t work and you have to fully close and restart the app and try again. I also can’t believe there’s no support for bulk operations. I have nearly 6,000 clips and I would love to delete old ones and save some money for Medal on storage costs but the only way to do that right now would be clicking on them one by one! Here’s my advice: Spend less time on the “social” part of the app (I promise you the majority of your users do not care, there are much more popular platforms for sharing content), and focus on fixing the core functionality.

Only reason why i didn’t give it a five star is because unlike the computer version, i don’t see anywhere where i can search my own clips by game. I don’t want to have to scroll through all 100+ of my clips to get to a certain game I’ve been waiting forever now for them to add this feature. It’d be five stars for me if i was able to search through my own clips filtered by game instead of the mess it is. Hopefully we will see this feature added it’s my only gripe when using medal on the phone. I’ll open medal on the phone to show a clip to a friend and end up closing the app because it’s taking several minutes to scroll through all the clips without a clip search feature or a game filter just kills it’s use case for me. But for other uses it’s great just none that i use personally.

TL;DR: I don’t like the premium subscription added, others don’t either because they feel as if once free features are now behind a paywall and I think there’s better ways of making money from the platform other than subscriptions I really like this software! However, I am on the side of people that don’t like when companies later on add subscriptions to their products. I wouldn’t mind the premium subscription if it didn’t take away features such as higher quality video and no watermarks on videos. I feel others would be satisfied if the premium service didn’t take away what made the software special. I think keeping things like 3+ minute clips, the editing feature, and profile cosmetics for premium members would be fair rather than taking higher(or at least medium) quality video and watermark-free downloading on all platforms (pc, mobile) for free users. I know companies need money to stay afloat, it’s just a fact of life but I’m sure there’s more user oriented ways on doing this. Maybe adding ads to the for you page could solve this. I’m not sure.

I love this app , it is really good to show clips to friends and for looking at other people’s or your friends clips. I also like how easy it is to get to other places. I know it just came out but the Valorant stats aren’t accurate. It just released which is fine but a problem I see is that the teams aren’t right. For example I played with my friend snd uploaded the clip and it showed that we were on different teams which isn’t accurate. The scores are accurate though, but that’s the only problem. Thank you!

There is one issue preventing me from giving this app a 5 star rating, and it’s the issue of downloading clips via the mobile app. I am unable to download any of my clips without seeing a “something went wrong with the download. please try again” error message which results in the clip not being downloaded. It appears to only be resolved ONCE when I delete and reinstall the app. My ios and app are up to date so I do not see a reason why this issue has been persistent for months now. I’m hoping if enough people are having this same issue it will be fixed soon.

First of all, I can clip bots. Lol. Second I can connect with friends in a differ way and I can have fun doing so. I love this app and think it was well made because you can use it on all platforms.( My personal favorite is my pc.) I also like that you can filter the clips you want to watch and not have to keep scrolling to see one clip of what you want to view. I highly recommend it to all gamers or people who like to watch clips.

There are a few issues I’ve run into with Medal that have been consistent, even when having the app for around a year. One of the issues I found is that clips will randomly mute themselves in the middle of playing and you have to manually unmute each time. Another issue is when viewing your feed from creators, going into another menu (such as your profile and clips) will continue the audio from the feed clip playing. I still use it to share clips but playback has been annoying to deal with.

If I could give it less than one star I would. It’s a stupid forced app to use for uploading clips from your PC when the original uploading to Xbox Live worked just fine. No matter what I try, the clips that I upload to medal do not show up in the mobile app. Just a bunch of gray boxes. Not to mention the draft syncing situation that has yet to be fixed. This app is useless garbage until they finally decide to update it and MAYBE get it right. How did Microsoft not learn that we all hate having to use under developed third party apps when Mixer died? Long story short, fix the app and quit trying to make everything a subscription service. Pathetic.

So this app was working great on both my iPad and PC for 6+ months. But, all of the sudden, it doesn’t let me download any clips on the mobile app. I select all of the clips that I want to download, I press download 1080p clips, the loading bar comes up, then nothing happens. I’ve tried running repair mode on my PC, deleting and redownloading the app on mobile, making sure that medal has photo access, restarting my iPad, but nothing works. If any developer has any solution, that would be great!

I’ve been using Medal for a couple months and I love the way everything is organized! It’s easy to do pretty much everything on Medal. I would like it if you guys at Medal could add something where you type a key word(s) and clips that have to do with that key word(s) pop up. One song I found in a Medal clip was so cool I added it in my school presentation and my teachers and my class loved it! So yeah, great job Medal! 😄

Medal is a decent app to use if you’re not paying money for it. Once you pay for their premium features and expect them to work as suggested things start going wrong. Clips not recording daily, corrupted clips, clips being unable to edit. Worst part is their support requires you to send them all kinds of info on the recording and you most likely won’t even get the clip back, it’s gone forever. In short if you’re using it don’t actually give them money, only use the free version because the product is not worth it overall.

Hey I love the app, well designed and nice UI but was wondering if you were planning on adding a feature to iOS devices where you can take clips with (ex. records gameplay 30 seconds back)or something similar to how you take clips on Xbox, since it would make my life SO much easier. hope that’s something you can look into, thanks!

I just got the app cause I want to start posting more gaming clips on a variety of webs, apps and etc. I uploaded a video and it won’t pop up. I checked the website and it doesn’t show either but it says 2 clips. First upload failed & the second one said it uploaded but I still don’t see it. I closed and reopen it many times and nothing. The app is ok but I can tell it still needs a bunch of work. I’m gonna keep giving this app a try but it already has disappointed me. Keep working on it pls 🙏🏼

okay so i get great clips with medal, 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a easy to use application to get clips. medal has a feature where you can watch other peoples videos. my algorithm is so messed up. usually all of the videos I watch are minecraft and valorant but im seeing videos of people playing roblox, overwatch, apex, and scary games that I AM NOT INTERESTED IN. i refresh my page all the time and the same videos load. it's really annoying bc i used to use medal all the time literally instead of tik tok but now i cant watch videos i enjoy bc medal cant get the algorithm right.

I love using medal on my pc, especially because I’m able to watch them whenever, but when I downloaded the mobile app, I found out you have to pay to link your pc account. Why would I pay 8$ a month to watch 30 second clips that are on my pc already. I just think it’s stupid that you need to pay to link your account. It would be great if everyone could link it for free since it would save people the hassle. Again, great app, but dumb mechanics.

I love using Medal, but when I scroll through clips, I watch the video, my eye goes down to read the title, but instead, I read the latest comment… it confused me at first, and now it’s just too much effort as a user to be going from video, to the bottom of the screen to read the title, and then the comments. The hierarchy of information does not translate well with the current layout!

Since I got my PC, I’ve been using metal besides Stream labs stream buffer as far as feel like it’s better quality audio and the fact they have a social side to. It is pretty cool too. I forget to hit my buffer. I know I can hit my hot key I’ll have it on metal with my face cam or without if I prefer. This app helps a lot with content creation.

Every gamer needs this on their computer. The iOS Medal app however is missing a lot of settings options and the interface can definitely be bettered. Profile pages look weird on mobile, just make profiles look the same on computer and mobile. Also missing some features such as friends list, groups, and chats.

Logging onto a game can result in it leaking some of your log in information meaning if you have full session record on you can have your account details leaked if you forget to trim it out you either end the clip and start a new one, or end it and start a new clip. Also you cannot share clips without a paid subscription making it frustrating to use and just annoying. So overall i rate this app a 0/10 and pretty much useless not only that it was a pain to even delete this app off my laptop.

I downloaded and connected medal on my pc after friends told me it was free. I tried clipping a few things in Fortnite and could perfectly see and watch them on my pc. But when I went on my phone so I could save and watch them but when I saw the clip on my phone and I tried to click it but then it said I needed to start a free trial. I don’t know if it’s an update or something but I asked one of my friends and told him the problem he said he didn’t know because for him it was completely free. Any ideas?

I’ve been using medal for over a year now and don’t think I’ll use anything else BUT I would love to have a feature where you can categorize clips into folders? I have so many clips and think it would be a lot easier that way. And please bring back the old layout where I can easily see the titles of the clips instead of them just being icons on my profile :3

i love the app but all of my clips won’t fully load. As in I am capped at how many of my clips I can view. I don’t know how to explain it but if I want to see some clips from long ago, that i know i have, they won’t appear on the app. Only pc.

It’s good for pc. Don’t get me wrong. But the reason I don’t like it, is because on mobile when I try to clip something on my phone it wants me to have my pc on. Like huh? Mine as well just clip it on the pc instead of mobile. I thought it was js some connection issue and a one time thing so I did do as it said, and it said there was no pc to be found or smth similar like that even though I was using the same network.

I don’t know if this happened to everyone but, one day, when I tried to download one of my clips, the choice between downloading the clip with my name and URL on the bottom left and NOT having all those stuff on the bottom left (custom) just… vanished. Is this a bug? Or a permanent thing?

It works on pc but everytime I try to see my drafts on mobile it just shows the loading thing telling me to restart my pc and mobile syncing is allowed on my pc so idk what’s happening

Overall the app is good but a glaring issue is that the audio bugs out and mutes itself despite the recent update saying that they fixed the bug. I still have to close and open the app again to fix the audio. Please fix it properly.

Medal is great love it but idk if it’s just me but when I have medal and play valorant I get big FPS drops for some reason like I’m at 60 FPS and a few seconds later it’s like 2 FPS or 0 FPS where my whole screen just freezes so I deleted medal and my game was working just fine but I still wanna know if it’s just my potato pc or it’s medal?

I’m using the Xbox overlay on PC for most of my game clips and now Xbox is forcing me to upload to medal in order to edit or make my videos live. None of my uploads show up in the mobile app but show up on the website that I can’t edit the clips on. Not happy at all with the performance also I have to pay in order to download my clips with out the watermark. Not worth the time to even use the app or website.

I was a user of Medal for a year or so, however recently they have disappointed me by locking a previously free feature behind premium. How is it that I cannot watch PC clips that were uploaded already on mobile without paying? The reasoning behind the decision to paywall something like that eludes me! It was perhaps reasonable with clips that were not already uploaded, but now It’s simply absurd- Do better!

I’m not going to say anything crazy if you get this app to connect your PC clips to your phone. Don’t waste your time. It’s hard to connect them both, and if you edit on the PC, the clips won’t save when you try to post them, and if you go back, it will delete all of your progress. The app wants you to pay to save your clips and upload them to iCloud sync, but it won’t save your clips. Tell me how that works. Don’t waste your time.

I’ve been using medal for a couple years now. I’ve enjoyed my experience with medal until recently. I usually upload the clips from my computer and then download them off the app on my phone and usually this works really well. However recently every time I download a clip it puts it into slow motion. If you could help me out or fix this that would be great

Was loving medal on mobile, everything worked fine but now all my videos download in slow motion for some reason. It’s not even an option so I’m not sure how to fix it. Also all downloaded clips (pc and mobile) automatically add a watermark even with the option turned off.

is this app not really compatible with apple devices? when i use it on my galaxy s20 it opens and starts record recording my screen when i open certain apps (games) can’t seem to figure out how to do that on my iphone xs max. if anyone knows how to sweet that up please help greatly appreciated. star rating once this is solved!

I love this app, but after this recent update there’s no longer an option to remove watermarks while downloading your own clips (that i’ve found) it makes edits a lot less clean when you have a giant ugly watermark there :/

If you haven’t already, I would highly recommend using metal TV. The videos come out fantastic, and the community is growing every day.

The point of this app is to see your clips and share them, how are you suppose to share them from a diff device when you have to pay to js do that its kinda useless if you think about it you have to pay for an app that takes your clips…soo🤷‍♀️

After last update no video will save to my phone. So this service has became useless to me which is really sad cause I love medal. UPDATE*** Shoutout to ZitroLee. He helped me with my issues so I’m here to add on to my review. Love medal and I’m glad the developers are active on here and on discord so I got my problems solved asap

Ever since y’all bigger updates on the mobile device it’s harder to download clips that I specifically want because there is no filter game categories anymore so now I gotta SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN for clips I’m trying to get

This app would be five star if we were able to sync the videos without having to pay. I’m trying to post some on TikTok but I can’t because I don’t have medal premium

I actually really loved this software. Besides the little bugs here and there on not being able to download my clips I had no issues with it…. That is until they decided that it was a smart idea to make a “Medal Premium” to get rid of the watermark and change the quality of the download. Just another good program going to crap for a subscription.

I also forgot to mention, when I open the application on my pc before playing a game or warzone , it makes my game distorted and yes before you think maybe it’s my pc I have a high end gaming pc , brand new , not a pre build . It’s every time I open this app. Every single time. As well as if you use Xbox game bar and had opened medal before hand or while in a party your voice becomes distorted.

I like the app but the problem is I can’t upload videos like it won’t let me upload a video like it uploads and the it just cancels it

Great recording & editing program/app. It’s super user friendly & has great/simple features. Very easy for beginners & those with already prior experience editing.

Best Recording app I’ve used!!! With I didn’t have to pay just to see my clips from my pc on my phone but everything else is great!

I’ve been using Medal for a few weeks and it does what it’s supposed to. and I’ve not had any problems with it

When I play VALORANT, I like to use medal to capture my kills and my hotkey is the right button or the middle button on the mouse. When I went to the clips in medal, all of the clips was just a VALORANT loading screen. I lost the amazing clips I recorded today. But yesterday everything was working fine. Please fix this or tell me how to fix this. Or is this just happening to me.
