Yes but the rating...
I do really really really (yes, in Chinese old scholars say that important thing should be told three times) like Medly and already have composed songs even better than my old composition Raining Roof (the improved compositions are Rainy Day, Rendezvous, and Change respectively). However I’d like the price to no longer be free but Member no longer required. You can say the price - $5.99 and even more people just will get past the MONEY barrier and you get profits better than just...before now. Say, do you know my second dream in my mind? I’d like a free, open-source Notes app replacing Medly (and free - but, people do make instruments as a donation.) And I looked at other reviews saying that a gifted teenager could make Medly. Just stop there, you could trust me for new Medly stuff. (Personally, I’d replace the Starter electronic pack with a better Electron, with the Aura (now named Electron) being the lead.) But I’d do the ripping out since my actual status is close to yours, just three years behind. The Notes ... it looks like Apple .... but maybe I would lead in the E-field later on. Oh, and the musics are not just a rip-off of Gallop. Just to make this rating appear as the most relevant of all, so people can get in the Compositionist school. Yes, the Compositionist Axis Rebellion of Music (opponents: Medly, Auxy, MusiQuest). And there are so much parentheses.

apologies
my apologies for trying to understand your business, although i still am saying i recommended 2$ not just 75c, i do not understand completely these things since i am a child ( I'm 13). i wont argue the price anymore but i still think you guys were very rude to me and others but my rating is going to be 4 stars still. thank you for responding to my previous reviews and i wish you guys good luck previous response : you see this app is really good, i don't write reviews unless i have something i really want to say so ill just get to the point. i truly love this app and making music is so easy, but i don't agree with a subscription. i understand that the app must be expensive to produce and i appreciate that but... i think that you should give us more than one pack, even two would be good? and make the rest of the packs purchaseable for around maybe 75c-2$?? that way people can choose what sounds they want to use without worrying about a charge every month. some people don't have the money to pay each month, so i really hope my idea is looked into at least a bit, since personally i am only interested in having a few packs anyways, so if i got the subscription i would be spending a ton of money for things i don't really need. thank you for your time but i still do really enjoy this app, just not the starter pack being extremely limited and there being a ton of other packs i have to pay each month for.

Sorry to bother I but I like this app but why do we have to pay to use loops I don’t think really like that many people may not like it too sir you created a great app but the only thing that you should only change is being able to get the loops for free to create some great songs many people would like and download this app it’s perfect just change it to the loops being free take that being a member thing there’s also people that don’t have credit cards or money like me but with this app I can make money I can create many great projects for my Tucson rappers please bro just do that one thing for 7 billion people all around the world think how many people with download this if you do if free just like the app music maker jam or garage band their competition if you just take off the member request many rappers and singers or producers will keep installing it that benifits you because you created something very useful why take money for it if it can be useful so your next invention will be liked because of the first application made was so good know people trust your great creations that benifits you well

Sound focused, not development focused.
I use Medley more than anything else. It’s easy to build melodies and bass lines without hassle, pretty accurately, and it’s easy to get these files onto my phone to send them away so I can use them in a bigger song. That’s what Medley is: A small app where you can create little music samples to send off to your bigger projects on your laptop or so on (or that’s how I see it). However, that’s not what Medley could be. There is so much potential here.. more ways to mix audio, built in vocaloid plugins (better than the current ‘Vox’ or whatever it’s called). Packs of instruments that can go together, better tutorials for beginners, so on. Trust me, this is a great app, but I think it’s too focused on simplicity.. which I know that sounds like a good thing, but simplicity really affects professionalism, especially in this circumstance. If Medley was able to integrate more types of mixing, more realistic instrument sounds rather than just a bunch of random synth and electric sounds that can kinds sound the same and nothing fits, and other little things that make it more professional, the community as well as Medley would benefit from that. Also, prices are fine. And there’s little bugs and freezes here and there and sometimes recordings of songs come out quiet but overall, so good.

Great, Except...
Hey! This is an amazing app. Well designed, clean, professional. But the only thing I dislike about it is that it is expensive. Hear me out, because I am not recommending that it be free. As a hobbyist I don’t have the money to buy a membership, but having the extra samples are kind of a must if you want to make songs with variety. What if in the free version it played an ad every time you added a premium instrument to a song. It would be like renting the instrument with an ad. You wouldn’t unlock the instrument universally, only for that song. It would keep the free version restricted while allowing hobbyists to make more with the app. It would generate income from all users instead of the few that buy a Membership. It would still give plenty of incentive to buy the pro version. This is a brilliant app and I want it to keep progressing. I think it would be beneficial to both users and developer. Just an idea, Cheers! P.S It would also be cool if deleted songs went to a temporary trash. This is a relatively standard feature in many media creation applications. (Or you could just put a couple extra messages telling people not to be idiots, like me, and delete songs they want :D)

Medly, thank u👍🏽
I just got Medly not too long ago, looking for a new music maker and I found Medly, and I gave it a shot. This is probably the BEST music maker I ever used. I love how the controls are so easy, most packs are cheap, and that more sounds are available in the free pack, making easier to make a song without buying everything. Even if i did buy the Future Bass pack, it’s worth it and so cheap. Im probably soon gonna buy the master pack. Out of all the music apps I’ve used, especially Auxy studio, this is the best one. Keep up the good work plz🔥 Edit: Ok, the new update is ok, but a problem. The Master and Band packs used to cost about $9.99 (or around $9) and now, I can’t buy a pack individually anymore because you apparently gotta buy some sort of trial. It was better and easier for me when I could just buy a pack on its own and have it forever instead of buying a trial including ALL instruments for a LIMITED amount of time. Im just suggesting that maybe instead of having just the option of a trial, you can get the packs by themselves OR get the trial. Overall still a good app 😆

I’m not entirely sure what to say!
I was looking for music apps so I can make my own music and every other app has gotten deleted not too long after I’ve gotten it, except for Medly. I went from making random note pattern that made no sense to actually making detailed songs. This app has made it easy for me to understand what I was doing and all the options are amazing! Instruments, Tempo, Keys/Scales, but all in a simple, organized style! The logos of the instruments also add fun to it. Making music has just felt like a fun game thanks to Medly’s developers. I can’t stop listening to all the songs I’ve made and the ones I’m working on. If I could change something, it’d be the ability to make your own instruments, but I’m not too eager for it since there’s already so much to do! When a new pack is released, it feels equivalent to waking up on Christmas and getting presents! 🎄🎁 Also, I think a Eurobeat, Happy Hardcore or any exotic genre of music would be a good pack to add next.

Medley please read!!!!
I have been using Medley to make my music for more than a year now and i can say that I am thoroughly impressed, the packs of instruments you can use are all wonderful, I love the drag and drop style of it, but there’s just a few things I wish were a little bit better. I wish there were more rap/trap/hip hop style packs or sounds, me personally I make beats and a wider variety of high hats, bass, and sound effects would be amazing. The other thing I wish was slightly better is the ability to input your own sounds/music/samples into the track you’re working on straight from your phone, it already works pretty well, but I’ve discovered that if you are trying to use this app to make a remix of something it doesn’t quite work as well, when you input a sample 30 seconds long And expand it across the track, there will be a slight audio glitch whenever the line passes into a different bar, this makes it difficult and tedious, I have to alter how my sample sounds just to cover up the glitch, if you could please fix this I will love you forever

Lovely, but a Bug and some Suggestions
This app is nice. The new update is alright, though I particularly preferred new packs as in-app purchases over membership (of course, I understand that’s how you guys make money). But recently the app’s been doing something weird: when I play something and turn my phone off, the parts come out all choppy, some not playing at all. Sometimes this leads to the app crashing. If it’s important, I do use Low Power Mode often. I’d appreciate if this were patched. Other than that, Medly is great for beginning musicians; after warming up to it, it’s relatively easy to create tunes. A question I’d like to ask is if new packs as outside of membership will be released, but I’d assume not if you’re plan is to release one membership pack a month. If you could, I’d love for the rock pack to have a dirtier guitar, or have the guitars play for an extended period of time at a consistent intensity. It would also be nice to have a “note” function that you can attach to bars if you want to fix/edit something in the future. It could also be different kinds of stamps. Overall, great app, love to use it :)

10/10 UI & general app but new genres packs are lacking
I love this app! Making music was a passion I set aside ever since my explosive break up with GarageBand. Thanks to Medly, I can start mixing tunes no matter where I am, easily and efficiently. As a developer, It’s rare for me to come across a REAL public use app (rather than design mock ups or $$$$ apps I don’t need) that’s UI/UX is inspirational. I myself aim to create applications that are as clean cut, easy to use and that actually runs smoothly! #devboss #killedit With that said, my only and I really mean only wish is that new genre packs would be available soon!!! The ones we have now are hella rad and I can use all of them for some decent tunes. Yet! The available packs can only go so far since I mostly listens to future bass, trap, dubstep, bass and many electronic dance styles that are, in four words, face melting musical carnage. I weep about the fact there’s not a lot of options for me to play with. I’m sure your working on it! I will wait patiently with eager hope for some new packs that are more my style. Otherwise, keep up the spectacular work and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next!

Superb App
I love this app! I’m a piano composer, but I travel quite a bit, and I can’t lug my piano around everywhere. That’s why I use this app. I can log down different notation patterns I like the sound of on the app, and then try them out on my piano when I get home. I love how real the piano sounds are! I had a bit of trouble understanding the app design and how to log in notes at first, but they give handy step-by-steps for how to use many parts of the app, which is spectacular. I still very much prefer physical instruments to this, but I think that’s because I’ve never been an ace with technology—😂. The friend of mine who recommended this app to me uses it to make beats, which just goes to show it is easy to be used for many different people. I could only possibly think of one thing to complain about—which is just that it would be cool if you could lower the cost of a membership. I did try it for a month and loved that I could mess around with violin and saxophone sounds, but I really just would like if it could be a tad cheaper for a yearly subscription. I won’t be ungrateful, though, this is much more of a steal than most apps offer for premium—and just flat out better, too. Thanks for the great app! You guys rock! 😊👍

Medly got me into music
I got medly at the start of COVID because i was bored and my mom just gave me her Ipad. I didn’t know anything about music, i didn’t even know what the word “melody” meant. But i figured out how the app works very quickly and i used it to write down melodies in my head, and i had a lot of them! In the unpaid version of medly i mostly used the piano sounds and the chiptune. In fact, i used them so much that for weeks of using medly didn’t even notice that there were drum sounds! People say that the unpaid version of medly has too little sounds to pick from, but i didn’t feel that way at all. As a kid that’s never made music before, I just saw soo many posibilities you can do with just the unpaid version. Medly got me extremely intrested into music theory, i just saw music theory as this massive rabbit hole of things to learn that never ends and because of that i wanted to buy an instrument to express what I learned and to be a better musician. Great app.

Great for any level of experience
The app is really intuitive and easy to learn regardless of your experience with digital audio interfaces. It’s great for beginners to get started with simple music production, and for the more advanced people out there you can still put together some really great sounding stuff in a variety of genres. It’s amazing when I have an idea on the go and I only have a few minutes to quickly get down some chords, a melody, and even record some lyrics. If you’re new to the app, it’s definitely worth looking into the yearly membership. If you’re like me though and you’ve already purchased the packs and you only want one new one, it’s up to you to decide if that’s worth a subscription. I think I speak for lot of dedicated Medly fans when I say that I would love to still be able to purchase individual packs separately from the membership subscription, but either way it definitely won’t stop me from continuing to use my favorite app.

Amazing app
I got Medly about 7-8 months ago and I loved this app ever since. It really helped me create music like I always wanted too. It fits all my needs to make a song just perfect. I even got my friends to download this app as well and they also love it as much as I do. I don’t have any complaints about it and I love that you can still have access to many things without member. I’d wish I had a little bit more access to other instruments instead of just starter and sapphire pack but it’s honestly ok. I make it work. You do a fantastic job working with this app. However, some glitches to occur… I have to refresh the app sometimes because it mutes some instruments that I didn’t even turn the volume off on. And it also freezes my entire phone sometimes. That could just be a me problem but I thought I’d let you know. Also the glitches don’t happen too often so it’s all good. Have a nice day!

Fantastic app, some suggestions
To get it out of the way, I love this app. I have no problem paying the yearly subscription because honestly, the content given is worth the cost. As someone who has used medly since 2016, I have some ideas that I would love to see. First, the ability to have ritardandos and accelerandos being stuck at one tempo severely hampers the more advanced level of song writers. Second, the ability to change the time signature. This would be great because not all songs are in 4/4, and even just adding 3/4 would open avenues to much more dynamic music. Finally, revamp of some of the older sounds. Such as the jazz and classical, their sound fonts are kind of… well trash. As someone who develops sound fonts for websites such as MuseScore, they aren’t terribly difficult. Thank you for reading this, and I can’t wait till the next pack comes out. Sincerely, Isaiah

🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️🙅‍♂️ NOT A CHANCE I WILL RENT THIS
This app seems like it is cool, and well made, BUT I will NEVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER be ok with a subscription model for anything that exists in the realm of virtual commodities. I rent tangible items, begrudgingly, but renting software and features of software is absolutely ridiculous, and I think it is absolutely criminal to hide your app’s entire desired feature set behind a NEVER ENDING paywall. I’ll take my business elsewhere. Thanks anyway! P.S. For a look at a better app with a better model, check out Loopy Pro. Buy once, keep the year’s worth of updates and bug fixes. If you don’t want to pay for the following year, you keep what you have already paid for. Pay for another year and get another year of the fixes and features to KEEP. It’s very much more fair to the consumer and without the developer(s) feeling like they are losing their shirt, just like nearly any commercially available ( or PC based) DAW (Reason, Bitwig Studio, Ableton Live, etc.) and it is the furthest I am willing to dive into the idea of renting a virtual commodity. Everyone else can pound sand.

Aight I just wanna say sorry, compared to a lot of people your not greedy at all. I made that review a while ago and just now thought about what I painted myself out to be. I’ve also upped my rating to a 4. I haven’t reinstalled the app yet but I have a feeling it will be better than last time. I also have the original review below. So yeah, I’m sorry, everyone needs to make cash somehow. (Also I kinda sound like a Karen in the last review, heck’s nah.) Original review: I like the game. I would legit rate it 5 if it wasn’t so greedy. All mobile games have this “premium” thing I’ve seen it everywhere mobile games are getting worse. I can’t afford premium I’ve got other things to do and I don’t know how to spend my money yet. So I was pretty disappointed when I found out my favorite genre, dubstep, was premium only. So yeah legit most of the things in this are premium. I would recommend only if u like wasting cash.

There’s a problem with the new update
So, the new way to swipe to different bars of your song is to use the dots at the top of the screen. This is pretty useful if you don’t want to manually swipe and swipe to get to the part you want to edit. However, I wish I still had the option to manually swipe. If I do that now, it goes all the way to four bars later. I don’t have access to edit certain notes and it feels really annoying and clunky. Wish I could visually show you what I’m talking about, but I don’t think there’s a way to do that on here. As of right now, I can’t use your app the same anymore. Hope this gets resolved soon ✌️ Edit: Ok, I don’t know if you guys did anything or not, but I’m not having that issue anymore. I was going to send a video to you guys explaining everything, but there wouldn’t be anything to show. All I can say is thanks!!

Dissatisfied
I have purchased the Jazz pack, and I am disappointed. I wanted to purchase the pack because I wanted to write out some of the pieces from my previous year in my schools band. The reason I am dissatisfied is because the range for the instruments doesn’t change at all. I was hoping for there to be an option for me to change the octave of the instruments, as I played the Baritone Saxophone. But there wasn’t. I had used the Low A (two ledger lines below the staff) numerous amounts of times and was sad that I couldn’t change it. I don’t want to just move up my music an octave because I’m lazy.... lol. This paragraph has basically just been a persuasive ‘essay’ for you to add an option to lower the octave range. Another hint I would like to mention is that the Gb and G for the Baritone Saxophone sound weird when put on the octave above the lowest F. Thank you for seeing this if you ever do, because I love this app and want to see it succeed.

Really Good
I’ve been reading some of the reviews about how “this should be free” or “why do you have to be member to get that”, but the response is plain and simple, Medly is a small company that needs funding to continue future operations. Now that that’s out of the way, here’s why I gave this app 4 stars. I get that you do need money, but I feel like at least one instrument pack should be free, I completely understand the reasoning if you are not able to, I just feel limited. The free trials of packs is a really good idea and I feel that listening to what is possible makes me want to be a member, but I just like to make little tracks so I’m not looking to purchase anything. In conclusion, I know I kinda sound like a choosing beggar but I feel there should be two starting packs. Now, I don’t know what all goes into making the instrument sounds, or how much it costs, so that also might be a factor in why the member option is important, but I hope you see where I’m coming from.

This app is great, don’t question it.
I was expecting more instruments, of course (the ones there have been out for a long time), but I was not expecting a monthly subscription. I’ve been using this app for a long time because it didn’t have a subscription, I could just buy it and make songs on the go easily. I love the app always but this is not what I expected nor wanted and I’d think a lot of people using this app agree on this. Please take this into consideration. Also, there have been some things that have ticked me of before this. The overlay feature where you could see the notes of other instruments while editing was so useful back then so could you ever consider bringing it back? If you can’t I can understand. Edit: For people who have bought the packs before the update, you will not have to have a subscription for it. It will be kept. For the newcomers and new packs however, you will have to subscribe fir that. Hope that clears the air.

incredible app, even for free
this app has turned me from a high school violinist into an EDM producer at 15 years old- it’s the only program i understand well enough to use, and i love it for that. it’s allowed me to pursue my passion for music beyond anything i ever could’ve imagined three years ago when i downloaded this. i recently paid for a yearly subscription cause i just had to have all the sound packs, and it’s paid off tremendously! i just finished the best song i’ve ever made, using all those new sounds i just unlocked. thanks so much, medly team! the only additional thing i could ever ask for would be the ability to add a glissando effect between notes, as the pitch bend tool isn’t quite accurate enough to do this quickly and easily. i think this ability would be the cherry on top of the awesome cake that is the app :) thanks so much y’all!!

Almost loving it, almost
I really like it, I do! It’s just that… when your a much younger user, the “free” sapphire instruments becomes less free and more unavailable in general. I suppose I would love it more if I had just one more instrumental. Just one more. But I can’t have it and I’m kinda just stuck making the same noises over and over and over and over and- It’s… boring, and tiering. I like how simple the app is and how easy to understand it is, I just don’t like how restricted I feel with just one type of instrumental. That’s kinda why this app has been wasting away in my phone. Totally forgot I even have it til now after listening to Toby fox music, 1 in the morning, and thinking “Ayo don’t I got a app for this?” Lol I get it, y’all need money n what not. I just wish I had one more. Just one. I’m not asking for the ENTIRE ost to be free cuz that’s just plain stupid and that stuff don’t pay the rent. I just would like one that doesn’t require a subscription, a week trial, or locked behind a paywall. I just want something that’s there, like the starter pack. It doesn’t even need to sound that great! I just want something different, ya know? But hey, I ain’t no musician, I’m just some random kid. Cant really force y’all to do anything lol. I’ve just been thinking about this for the past year, thought I’d at least give my two cents on this app, even if they are small, cheap cents.

Amazing app but membership isn’t necessary
This app is the greatest things of my life. I love all of it. Every single piece of it. The way the app works easy and simple to learn and use. And the amount of sound bites to use is plenty and they all sound amazing. My favorite pack is Master! But, sadly I can’t not use it. See, ones you download the app, the pack you start with is the starter and to get any more packs, you have to pay money. Now I would be fine with this if you could retrieve these packs by being given an option to buy as an in-app purchase or as an add-on in the App Store, but nope. I have to pay for a membership. Let’s just list some possible Scenarios that could happen: “1. I’m too young and I don’t have a credit card. 2. I don’t want to add my credit card to my phone cause someone could hack it. 3. I can’t pay for that.” Can guys please change the way I got to pay. Thxs!

Almost perfect
This app I stumbled upon quite a while ago (think December), and almost immediately upgraded to member. For a price such as almost 25 dollars a YEAR (more or less, I don’t remember exactly), you can get amazing, quality instruments to make music as you wish. But as I continue to make music, one thing keeps nagging me: the inability to change the time signature. All songs and beats you make are required to stick to the common 4/4 time. But sometimes, I might want to make a song that feels Waltz-ier, and want to go for a 3/4 signature, or maybe I want to just go crazy and challenge myself with a 5/4 time signature. I see how implementing this COULD be difficult, but I don’t see why it couldn’t be done. I’ll definitely keep using this amazing program, but if it were to add time signature changes, I would give it a full 5 stars.

Great way to get people inspired to create
First I want to say that the complaints about wanting free or much cheaper add ons are ignorant at best. The app didn’t just plop out of the sky without any investment or work done by the developer. Who do they think spends time making the loops, or coding the app, independently wealthy altruists with nothing but free time on their hands? No of course not. Real living humans do all the work and deserve to be compensated for their efforts. Asking them to work for free is just silly and a little insulting. Try walking into a burger joint and asking them for free food because you can’t or don’t want to pay for it. Same silly thing. Anyway, great looping app that reminds me a bit of Looptastic from iOS past. This is a well thought out app that is excellent for those who are new to music production to explore some creative avenues at a super low cost. I think even some vets with more experience may find this useful as well or at least a bit fun.

Very nice, but...
This app seemed confusing at first but eventually you get used to how to use it. I like all of the different options there are (changing how loud a note is, being able to hear a note before placing it, being able to change the key of the piece, etc.) However, these are some things I’d like added: 1.) Crescendos and diminuendos. Being able to change the note’s loudness is helpful, but being able to have more steady dynamics where it’s very gradual is better. It’d be cool if we could just place this feature under the group of notes we want the crescendo or diminuendo to affect. 2.) The way we have to pay monthly or yearly for other features. I dislike having to pay in that way; I’d rather pay a base fee instead of each month or year having expenses for the app. So please add a bass fee option where we can just flat out pay the expenses for other features and get the payment over and done with.

Love the app but one suggestion
I’ve been using this app for quite a while and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ^~^ I’ve recreated music from Mario Galaxy, Hamilton, and some of the music from orchestra but I have a suggestion, is there any way in a future update an option can be added to change the time signature? Since this app can be used basically anywhere with ease I put in the notes for some of my music so I can listen to only my part since I mostly play by ear but a few pieces are a different time signature or some of the other music I transpose are a different time signature and this app only has 4/4 “^~^ or even to change the time signatures in an individual measure, I’m not really in a hurry or anything for it, it’s just a suggestion ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Anyways, this is my favorite music app to use; it’s fun to use and I love showing people the stuff I make on here and they love listening to it! ^~^👍🏼❤️

Not the best tool, but probably the best app.
There are certainly better programs in terms of composition if you have a computer, but this is an excellent choice if you’re limited to an iPhone. The app has some interesting options packed in, but the fact that you have to pay such an expensive, monthly fee really holds it back. The instruments offered for free are way too limiting and are only barely serviceable. However, the paid instruments, while a bit of a mixed bag at times, lean more towards a rich and varied sound palette. Overall, it will help you as a beginner in finding interesting harmonies and crafting unique melodies, and it will also help in providing a very intuitive interface, but it will limit you in the long run if you get too comfortable with it. Make it a supplement, rather than your primary means of composition.

An AMAZING APP!!!!!!!!!
I’ve tried almost every single music making app on the App Store and nothing comes CLOSE to Medly. I play the piano and the violin and have experience with making music of my own, however making music that way is very time consuming and not very efficient, and not many people who want to make music can play instruments I have several friends like this, BUT with Medly, anyone can! Plus, buying all the different sound packs (like I did) is well worth the money you would spend buying them. Its simple and easy to make music with and I’ve created entire 2-4 minuet songs (that includes all the re editing and even re doing the entire song itself) in a matter of minutes. So I guess the easiest thing to say about Medly is that it’s PERFECT for any kind of person and you shouldn’t waist your time searching for a better music making app. -Tristan Garrison

AMAZING!!
I LOVE THIS APP! I have been using this app since the for at least 2+ years, and I've recieved nothing but excellent quality per every update. However this app lacks a lot of common instruments as well as a suggestion box where one could suggest new instruments and features. I would love to see more basic instruments including a vibraphone, tube bells, more acoustic guitars, more pianos (with more range), a standard drum set, a brush drum set, and more. Some of us love modern music, but at the same time, some of us would like to use common instruments. I'm sure people have improvised but that doesn't have the same feel as a classic instrument. I hope this comment can be heard (or read). Overall this is an amazing app and is very easy to understand. The UI is easy to understand after trial and errors. I'd recommend this app to all.

MEDLY IS THE BEST!!! But I have a question
I love medly to death!! It’s the best music making app I have ever came across!! The amount of different sounds and artists to choose from, the diversity of styles of music genres to choose from…. All of that is just breathtaking to me! However, I have a very very big question. So I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am about to get the iPhone 14 PRO MAX… I am so happy for this opportunity I’ve been waiting for almost a year of! But here’s the thing. I’ve made so much really good music on this app that I don’t want to lose… but I am getting a new phone and I need to switch all my data and stuff to the new phone as soon as I get it… my question is.. will all of the music pieces I’ve created on this app transfer to the new Phone automatically? or do I need to do something to make that happen?

Pretty Awesome...but...why?
Look, I get that with the new subscription variable, you can receive a whole new pack monthly (which is pretty cool) but AT LEAST give us the arcade and Christmas packs WITHOUT THE SUBSCRIPTION. I’ve been using this app for, a very long time. Loved it, and I still do. But never in my mind did I think that you guys would throw this in our faces. I mean CMON! You seriously can’t get the best out of EVEN YOUR FAVORITE APPS without some kind of purchase. And it had to be my favorite type of sounds, arcade. I’m super disappointed and dissatisfied, but I still have hope in this app as long as you guys stop bribing us to get a subscription with ARCADE SOUNDS. Couldn’t have been anything else huh? Oh well, I hope this gets resolved and I will Continue to stick with this awesome app (as long as they don’t chuck a “SUPER DELUXE EXTRA AMZING SPECTACULAR” subscription at us.) Thank you.

Please Read
Hey Medlylabs! I just want to say that this app is amazing and I pretty much use it everyday. For the price, the amount of content you have is fantastic and I couldn't ask for more. There's just a few questions I have about some instruments. Firstly, the guitars. The guitars in the rock pack are pretty cool, but they seem to only last as long as a single pluck. Like, you can't extend the sound for more than one beat or so. Why is that? It used to be different some years ago but you guys changed it before I could buy it. I'd really love to use the guitar instruments (because a lot of the songs I cover are pop rock and need guitars) but I can't use them the way they are now. Is there any way you can change them or make a new pack? Secondly, the violin, cello, and bass instruments lag by half a beat. Could you remove the lag? It’s sort of irritating because it doesn’t flow. Thank for reading this!

Love this app, here’s my suggestions.
I use this app regularly and love it. There’s a few things I’ve noticed that I’d like to suggest in case the devs read and consider these reviews. 1. I’d love a wider variety of “darker” sounds, particularly for the guitars. Everything is really upbeat and happy sounding, which isn’t bad (it suits most of the EDM stuff this was designed for pretty well) but I feel as if it could benefit from a broader emotional spectrum. A “metal” and/or a “blues” setting that’s similar to the “rock” setting might be appropriate there. 2. IMHO the pizzicato violin is the worst sound in the sets, I’ve been trying to use it but it’s kind of cringe which is unfortunate since I’ve liked the rest of the classical set. 3. A way to do glissando would be really nice and might not clutter up the UI too much if done well, such as with a tap and hold setting on a series of notes. Similarly, a way to do really short notes such as grace notes or ornamentals would also add a lot to the app. I was imagining this might work with a UI if you tap and hold a short note that precedes another note. 4. More time signature options wouldn’t hurt, although you can always just force them by writing it in manually, it wouldn’t hurt to have more coded options.

Love The App, just one thing missing
I’ve been using medley for two years now, and used Member for one year, and made some amazing songs with the app! Great place to start out with music, especially if you don’t have money. The one thing I wish could be added was a way to make your own sounds, like a wavetable inspired by the serum plugin for computer programs or something, while keeping the existing sounds, some as presets, some as member exclusive sounds not possible with the sound designer, to keep making money through to keep updating the app, and keeping people in music. I’m not completely freaking out over it since I have no idea how hard that is, andirons can live without it, but if it’s at all possible for a small company, at least try. Thanks! Keep up the great work!

For Those Who Love Making The Music
Okay, I want to start out by saying you do NOT need to buy any of the in app purchases in order to make awesome tunes. Everything you need to start with is already there, but if you want to go advance or fine tune your music, I would suggest getting the band pack. Second, the app is EXTREMELY easy to get the hang of, even if you buy the band pack. I’m usually slow in “getting to know” apps, but this came as easy for me. Third, I have no problems with the app in terms of glitching or crashing, other than the times where I make everything extremely loud, which causes the app to either make it staticky or crash, but this is only due to the fact that I tried making it INCREDIBLY loud. This app is simple, easy, but the things you can make on it is incredible.

Wonderful
Now before you roll your eyes hear me out. Some may find Medly annoying because you only have one pack without a membership but to me it’s worth it. The membership is a bit pricy (I’m not rich duh) but It’s worth it if you know what you’re doing (Unlike me 😂). You can create wonderful pieces or just simple ring tones. From Intros to background music the possibilities are endless. I would compare this to Minecraft. Pretty good if you are creative and will keep trying to find a solution. If you like me are un experienced the free version is great just to see where you can go with it. I do feel the one moth price is expensive and I think 3.99 or 2.99 would be much more decent, but I understand that the developers need money for the addition of new packs. TL:DR: Free version is great for beginners experimenting and paid is pretty good for intermediate music makers.

Absolutely LOVE this app but just one thing...
I’ve played around with garage band for a while now and it never provided me with the SOUND I was looking for. I don’t know how but I came across this app and I am SOOO glad I did. I was looking for something to make raw examples of tracks with but that sounded decent enough that wouldn’t embarrass me when I show my examples to producers. A way to get the songs in my head out of my head. But garage band wasn’t cutting it for me. I love this app! I went ahead and unlocked everything cuz I love it so much. My ONLY ONLY thing I don’t like is not being able to just record myself in one go over the beats I make. Nor being able to hear the song play while recording at the same time so I know where I’m at in the song. Please please add that feature and this app will be PHENOMENAL. Or at least make so it you don’t have to record by each bar! Anyway GREAT JOB!

Crashes way too much!
I would like to give this app 5 stars but I can’t. I get Auxy is similar and as much as I wish that app would allow vocals in there, you can’t add any. It is why I tried to find a similar app to Auxy and when I stumbled across this app, I thought great. Another app similar to Auxy but better since this app allows you to add vocals, right? Wrong. This app is worse. Despite being able to add vocals every time I try and work on a song and I get into a minute into the song the app begins to crash. Every time I try and re-open my project it just crashes. I really hope this app can get a major stability fix. Keep in mind I am using this app on an iPhone 11 so my phone should be able to support and run this app without a problem. Hope the developers read this and instead of working on more instrument packs work on getting this app fixed first. Then maybe I’ll re consider my review and download this app again.

Very great app. A few bugs though.
The “Done” button gets blocked mostly by my phones clock display which makes it so i can’t exit out of screens unless i press it a specific way which takes 20 tries. Also if you hold a section to drag it or move it and let go a little too early (which happens a lot) the whole screen will freeze and not let me do anything) Another thing is that lowering the pitch to with the pitch slider for most instruments makes the whole pattern off beat. so i can’t have low bass or low notes without it sounding very out of place. One very last thing which isn’t relevant anymore but i never said this: I’m still mad that the medly creators had me buy music packs to keep… i bought like 10 music packs.. then all of a sudden then changed their minds and i don’t own any of the music packs i bought… and i can only access them if i have the membership subscription which really made me mad lol. also the fact that it deleted all of my old projects with that same update like 3-4 years ago. it was tough times for me. Other than those things the app is amazing though. Literally the best phone music app i’ve ever used.

New Medly sounds grating and annoying, please fix.
Everything sounds different with the new update and not in a good way. It sounds so grating and sharp and it’s really annoying. I attempted to fix it by messing with the HiLo option but wasn’t happy with the results. The drums have this effect where everything else gets quiet when one plays. This is something I notice in a lot of modern edm and I kind of hate it!! I herd a a setting called ducker being mentioned but I can still here this effect clearly when ducker is turned all the way down on all the instruments. The bass is also different it sounds deeper which is ok but it’s also kind of muffled, this is a problem because I like to use a bass sound called overdrive as a lead by turning the pitch all the way up and now it sounds kind of muffled. I regret not saving my songs before this update because now they sound weird. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all the new stuff in Medly but I want my songs to sound like they did before and for new songs I make to not sound too harsh.

Best app ever. (Almost)
I love this app because there’s a game I like called FNF. With your squeak sound from the essentials pack, I can create songs for it. Now, here’s why I wrote almost. I love the different variety but it’s missing the feature to add your own sounds. That’s all, I’m just saying that in a future update, it would be nice to have the feature of your own sounds. Edit: Why did you make it so there’s a SUBSCRIPTION? Seriously, For new people, (like me who got a new iPad recently but no way to save my data) you should make it a one time purchase like it was before, and add a data saving service. Edit 2: You are literally the best music making app for mobile ever. I love how when you answer replies you dont just copy and paste things. - Oreo.

It’s good for beginners and casuals! Get Auxy Studio too.
This app is just not a great app for me. It’s not my main DAW but I use it every once in a while for fun. The method of viewing scenes is restricting: You can’t easily have the same loops in multiple scenes, because the copy-paste can become tiresome. Medly features 10 or so instruments for free, and honestly, the selection is decent but the sample quality is a little lacking for professional use. If you are serious about music making, try Auxy in addition to Medly. It has customizable high pass and low pass settings, reverb, flexible delay settings, customizable drum kits, equalizer, and attack/release controls. These features would greatly improve Medly. Thats why I’m only rating this app 3 stars, because it’s not really for me. For now, Auxy is my choice for professional mobile music making. While Medly is not something I use often, it’s worth a try if you’re a casual user.

Amazing, but this is a suggestion.
I love it! All the different sounds, all the different ways you can make music, all the combos you can make with the music, it’s just amazing... but there is only one problem with me, and it’s something I want content-wise. I want something like the “8-bit plugin.” Something like the “8-bit plugin” is essential for the music I want to make. I am an Undertale nerd, so I want it. Also, people should be able to upload sounds to use and there is an in-app currency you can buy or earn to get things from the store. This would be marvelous, but these are only suggestions. I think this would make you a tremendous amount more money, and us, as users of the app, would love it. Oh and we should be able to download FLPs, too. This would be awesome.

Fantastic Platform
Love medley, been a user for a few years. I pay annually for the membership and it is always worth it to me. They started adding on packs sometime through my time with them, so you’re always getting more and more variety. Only issue I have had recently is that audio clips intermittently just will not upload. I get past the screen where you choose your BPM, Key, Major/Minor etc.. and hit import, and nothing will show up in the slot. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. It says that it works for samples up to 30 seconds and all of mine I have this issue with are 5-25 seconds. Otherwise, it’s a pretty in depth music software in the palm of your hand, I recommend to anyone who is interested in creating as a fun hobby, but not want to spend a fortune on DAW, MIDI, etc ..

Amazing app. Just some suggestions.
Hey Medly creators. Just writing this review to give some ideas for future updates. This app is amazing for people to use, it’s simple, useful, and runs fantastically. The ideas I had for newer updates was for integration of different time signatures. So far we have 4/4 and 3/4 with triplets. But in the future I want to be able to have it so I can make a 5/4 song with ease. As well as keys using /8 like 7/8 and 6/8. Another feature is tempo changes. I want to be able to change the tempo so I can have a beginning of a song be 90 bpm but then later I want it to be 120 bpm. These would be tremendous upgrades to an already phenomenal app and I hope to hear some feedback/see these features added in the future.

I loved the app before the 6.0 update
The app is amazing but with the new update changed some things that were already fine, and it wont even let anyone change how thing are. The app should have an option to change certain things things in the app like: how many fingers to scroll (max 3), the way the notes work, note options, ability to change the speed of certain parts of the song, adding your own instruments (im not talking about audio or recording a video), or even just choosing what version you could be on for the bare minimum, etc. its a great app don't get me wrong here i bought the membership its just that version 6.0 kinda ruined it for me. You should at-least be able to change what version you are on.

Newest updates
The newest update made it harder to control the interface. Every time I tried sliding to the right to add patterns for the 2/4 of the loop it just took me to the next 1/4 loop without letting me go back to the one I was working on. I needed to manually exit that loop just to go back to the previous one. And although I could press the top to switch sections of the same loop segment it’s much comfortable being able to slide within it. Until the newest update made it a little frustrating. Sometimes when I think I was able to slide it I just ended up grabbing one of the patterns I placed and moving it on accident. so now I have to make sure not to grab them when I want to slide. so if I use to many patterns on the 1/4 it’ll be me trying to grab between them just to slide slightly onto the 2/4 of it. In all honestly I preferred the old interface than the new one.

Great app! Slightly upset... Please change this!
Don’t get me wrong. I love this app and make loads of tracks on it that I enjoy. It is easy to pick up and learn, and once you become good, you can make seemingly professional tracks. My only issue is that I used to love the fact that you can purchase different sound packs separately. With the new membership program makes it feel like a license to keep the instruments that you pay for rather than actually owning them if you get what I mean. Hopefully there can be a way to add both ways of obtaining a pack of sounds for users who don’t want to jump right into the membership. Me and many others are really looking for a change to revert back to the old ways of obtaining new sounds. I hope you understand where I’m coming from with this, and that something can be done soon! Thanks for reading!!
