Works as designed
While have coded hundreds of iOS App over my 25 years of software development…mostly utility apps similar to the MM app… I have to say the interface is not intuitive and has several social problems to include it’s a resource hog… Initially I ran into several of the issues reported through the reviews.. When I called tech support the guy to me I'd have to setup a private network on my network router.. I actually said to guy “ are you out of your mind…” I know how to add a private network to a router, I’m the only person I know that can do that.. I also knew that there was no way that would resolve the problem…. After a little digging, I noticed through the tcp/ip traffic that the mm100 would bounce its connection constantly… I ended up moving the mm100 bridge out of the house end the eve of the house… it’s been a couple months, I rarely have an issue, when I do it’s it’s generally because the bridge does a handshake periodically which apparently has a very short timeout, which turns into a blue light… most of the time it requires no action.. Since the bridge in this mode is accessible to restart it… I put a smart plug attached the bridge and then I can cycle the bridge without have to get the ladder out…It would take much to make the app more robust, for the price it should wash your car as well… again make sure the bridge has a clear view of the opener… Good luck

Seem to be having similar story to other reviews on here. It worked great for a bit and then started having issues. At time the app won’t open, just stuck with the logging in and spinning circle. Then it became after it did take forever to log in picking the commands did nothing even from inside the garage, on the house WiFi, right under the motor. Was driving my wife to work at 0330 after being unable to use the appt to open it and driving down the toad 15 minutes from the house an alert comes up saying the door was just opened. Check our house cameras and sure enough door is wide open after with us away from home. The biggest complaint however is as soon as you set up the Appt any remotes you have programmed are immediately disabled. So sitting in the car, in the garage, with a remote that used to control the door and it won’t open solely because of the app.

Started off good like everyone else’s reviews
Started off good but then the servers issue like everyone else’s complaints started. Now it constantly blinks which the instructions say is an issue with MM servers....doesn’t keep a history of events, geo fencing features don’t work and functionality of the app is spotty at best. Called tech support and from the conversation it sounded like it was his first day. No answers to any of my questions and no idea how to fix what I was calling about. Concept is great but execution leaves a lot to be desired. As I type I’m watching the light blink green on the receiver. So far. Waste of money. Updated review: Still no change. In fact things have gotten worse. It currently says that “Radio has been disconnected” due to an obstruction and to operate the gate manually. Well. There is NO obstruction and after powering the unit off and back on it still doesn’t work even after cycling the gate several times with the fob and Gate keypad. After ALL OF THESE BAD REVIEWS I have seen no improvement in the app UI or overall response. If you’re not going to fix it please tell people so they can move on. If the mission here was to take people’s money and then abandon follow up support, you’ve accomplished that 100%. I would be one thing if there were just as many glowing reviews as there were bad but this doesn’t seem to be the case here at all. A little customer service would be nice MM. does that still exist?

Buyer beware
Just like all the other reviews above… this is the absolute worst app i have ever used in my lifetime. There are constant problems of various degree. Technology has clearly passed by the company & people who have created & operate this App. After reading this review, if you still choose to purchase the mighty mule w/ the intention of using this App on a daily basis, you get all the stress, headaches, and frustrations you deserve. That being said, the customer service is even worse than the App itself. If this was a brick & mortar building that customers could walk into and voice their issues, concerns, & frustrations.. it would have been burned to the ground by its own customers by now. I didnt give this App a star rating because negative stars isnt an option. As we speak right now i have animals on my property back home that cant get the food & water they need because my farm handlers cant get access to my property. They had to cut my fence to gain access and bring provisions to my animals. I would literally sue this company if i thought it was worthwhile of my time & money.

Is really bad
This app is terrible. I have contacted their customer service and they could care less. It is obvious they don’t care because it has been over a year since this app was updated. The issue i have is I can’t set up geofencing even though it has the option and i have no idea what timed events are but apparently i have some because the last time i was on vacation i was getting notifications at 2am and various other times when the gate had randomly opened. The software notification said i had opened it even though app wasn’t even open on my phone. Father and mother-in-law live with me and they were concerned because the gate kept opening in the middle of the night. I just told them to unplug the bridge and gave up on it. I tried reinstalling it today so we will see what happens. Contacted GTO with the specific issue and they replied with a canned email and didn’t even offer to help. Replied to customer service several times describing my problem and no answer after five emails.

Worst App Ever
Let me start by saying what an utter piece of absolute garbage this app is. I’ve had the Mighty Mule garage door opener for over a year and my main reason for purchasing were the “smart home” features. In reality, I’ve had to reset the wifi connection every couple of weeks for over a year, which gives me anxiety about one day not being able to get into the house if I go for a walk and only bring my phone (garage opener does not come with a keypad). Resetting has been just about the only consistent thing this app has provided me with. Luckily, now they fixed that issue... by not even letting me log in. Just get the error about servers not responding. This has lasted for days now. So, if by chance, you’re reading because you also want “smart” features in your garage door opener, just buy the Chamberlain universal adapter. I had that in my old house and never had any problems. The Mighty Mule opener itself is fine, but if this is what’s supposed to set it apart from the competition, they have a long way to go. Worst app ever!!!!!

No bueno
I bought this gate opener and WiFi add on to replace an old MM device I had. That opener (MM600) worked perfectly. Only complaint was short range. New opener MM751 was easy to install and works flawlessly with the gate openers and all of the old openers I have. Setup of the WiFi bridge and app was fidgety and frustrating. I ended up using my wife’s email because they did not send me a confirmation email. Once I had it set up it worked perfectly...... for a day. Now I can’t connect with the app. The app says no WiFi. I am connected to WiFi as I write this review. To MM give your engineers and product designers a raise and fire your programmers and app developers and start over. You have a great idea with poor execution.

Unable to create account -cant get past GO
We saw the poor reviews but thought “surely if product is still being marketed, it can not be so bad.” This is our second MM gate opener in 5 years. The circuit board went bad in the first. We replaced the MM600 with the MM371 specifically for the smart gate function. We paid $369 for the gate opener which comes with one manual remote control. We paid another $119 for the MM100 wireless connectivity system. Once installed and app downloaded, we could not get an account created using the app. We kept getting an error stating “unable to connect to Mighty Mule”. We downloaded the app on another IPhone and IPad thinking there has to be a workaround. We deleted the app several times and started over with no new results. We even attempted to log in late in the evening thinking (maybe!) the MM server was bogged down with unexpected after Christmas volume. Trying to contact Mighty Mule for technical assistance is another dead end. It is a wonderful concept which we and others bought into to only be “ripped” off. It is very discouraging and frustrating the time and money wasted for this product and the poor response for service and assistance. Mighty Mule social media sites (Twitter & IG) seem to be only for “advertising “ as you will find no comments or replies which suggests censorship. What a disappointment. 👎😠😡

A bit buggy
Sometimes the app doesn’t work, sometimes it does. Not sure if it’s the app, or the backend infrastructure. The worst problem though is the notifications. When the gate is opened with a remote, often notifications will come significantly delayed, sometimes by several hours. Also, notifications are often duplicated. Sometimes opening the gate once will result in several notifications. On a couple of occasions, I have got nearly 50 notifications within a two or three minute period. The number of notifications is multiple times more than the total number of times the gate has been opened according to the history. Please please please fix this.

Needs new technology
I use this app strictly to open 1 light weight aluminum gate. I always update the app when updates are available. However, every time I use it, I can’t use it again until I completely close out of the app and reopen. I have this app on an iPhone13 Pro and my spouse has an iPhone11. This app does it on BOTH phones. It’s very frustrating to have to completely close out of the app in order to reuse it again 10 minutes later. In addition, this app doesn’t support automatic events for gate openers. It would be great if the technology could be updated to resolve both of these issues! If I had known these drawbacks upfront I would have selected a different brand of opener.

Don’t Waste Your Money!!!
In theory, this concept is great. In practice, Mighty Mule has missed the mark BIG TIME. Completely unreliable. You’re barely ever able to connect to the GTO server. It’s offline more than it’s online. When you need it most, it won’t work. Guaranteed. The app will say the gate is open but it’s actually closed and vice versa. If you try to open or close it when it’s offline, it will randomly open or close whenever it finally gains connectivity which leaves your property unsecured. And better yet, it won’t even notify you. If I could give this negative stars, I would. I completely regret spending money on it. Worst investment ever. I would have rather put the money towards a security company that would actually stand by their products. BUYER BEWARE!!

please update this app, for the love of god
back story: i have been in my house for 4 years and only recently figured out that i could even connect my garage door to the wifi. occasionally, we will come out to the garage and find the door open partially or the whole way. decided this app would be helpful so we could know when it opens and close it remotely from inside or when we are away from the house. it worked perfectly for about a week. all of a sudden, in the middle of the day yesterday, it stopped sending me notifications altogether. it worked in the morning before i left for work. why?! nothing changed between then and about 3pm while i was still at work. i tried to sign out and sign back in, no good. i tried to delete and redownload the app, no good. this doesn’t make any sense! please update this app. these problems shouldn’t be happening.

If you want an opener that is unreliable and keeps you locked in/out of your place, this is it!
I wish I would’ve read the reviews too. The app is terrible, doesn’t keep up with the gate current position. I spent almost $1,000 on materials and installation, worked for a few weeks, and now I’ve just given up on it. It was a complete waste of time and money. Same as others, will send command to open gate, it never does. I leave and 10 minutes later I get an alert that the gate is open. I wish they wouldn’t market this app and it’s convenience, it’s not convenient at all. Can’t take it back either, not sure what the warranty is but vendor won’t take it back.

Ugh
Surely the company can see all these terrible reviews? Are they working on making it better? I’ve just spent all afternoon trying to connect my gate opener to the WiFi via the MMS100 bridge system. Even if I get the green light to be solid (everything working) then it doesn’t show up in the app, just says “no devices connected”. Ive tried multiple times. I’ll try and set it up to connect to my home WiFi and I get a message “you’ve connected to the wrong network”. So I reset and try again.. and again... and again... I’m just totally wasting my time. I’ve tried it with the bridge right next to the gate opener, I’ve tried it with the bridge next to my router inside, nothing works. Hopefully I can get my money back.

App won’t open and rarely works anymore
Going to have the husband call and request a refund, I waited several yrs to save up and have a wireless gate opener. The remotes don’t work unless I’m right up next to the control panel, the app won’t even get past the logging on screen anymore. This after having it randomly opening our gate at all times of the day and night, not safe for us or others as our cows could get out on the road and cause an accident. Then y’all would have a lawsuit on your hands. As much money as we spent on this complete setup it should work flawlessly. Haven’t had it less than 6 months. We do not recommend this to anyone!! Would give zero stars if able.

It’s not really smart.
Ok. Can you open and close your gate with it? Yes, sometimes. Didn’t have any major installation issues like some people, but it did seem a little confused when putting it in “pairing” mode. Took me 3-4 times to get it to link. My biggest gripe is the lack of reporting for gate activity. I can only see a very brief list of historical activity. Why even have such a thing if you can’t go back and get info(opener or codes used) for certain dates? We use the gate at a rental and knowing when certain codes were enters would be very useful.

Would be great if it worked like it’s supposed to
This is the glitchiest gate/app I have ever used. We constantly have issues with the gate being ‘offline’ when it’s not. Unless you want to just use the remote (which sometimes will only work RIGHT next to the box), this is very unreliable. Super inconvenient when you can’t get in or out of your own driveway because the gate will not open. And if it’s a windy day be prepared for countless errors, having to manually open because the gate app becomes useless at that point. Will come back and change my review if it ends up getting any better…

Works eventually but very flaky
Initially tried to find good spot for the radio box, took forever to pair, and every time I changed position to check for better signal - it lost the device and had to re-add it. The app has quite a delay of connection temporarily is lost and gate was operated in the meantime by a remote. The "auto-timing" feature on the app doesn't allow to add any time setting. Seems like some placeholder a developer left visible but not intended to actually enable it yet because it is not functioning. I really wanted to have a simple timer setting...

Useless now as a smart GDO
Initially enjoyed this functionality. I could easily open/close garage door remotely. Frustrating that with every app update, my login info disappeared and had to be re-entered. For the past few weeks, I can no longer get the app to see my garage door opener. Initially it said it couldn’t connect to the server. Tried to reset the wall opener, but still intermittent app connection. Tonight tried repeatedly to reset the wifi connection and while I could connect occasionally to the GDO Wi-Fi and could get the prompt to return to the app, now will not go any further. Finally tried to recreate the account and the server is down. Very, very disappointed.

App won’t reset after the beam is blocked
It would be a great app if it weren’t for two main problems. The geo location works so-so, and if the trip beam gets blocked (like when you drive into your garage) the app stops you from closing the door. Frustrating since I wanted this because of the smart features. Not so smart. Update After deleting the app and reinstalling, the ‘beam’ problem went away. Now I find my garage door randomly opening without anyone intending to do so. Again, delete and reinstall…

Basic functionality is excellent
If used as a standard opener everything is good. The app geofence feature is disappointing. Reliability closed when we leave but never opens even with the feature enabled. I get a notification on my phone but the door doesn’t open. I tried modifying settings but have decided to move on and just appreciate what it is. Being able to see if the door is open or closed is the most important connected feature to me and that works as advertised.

READ THIS FIX if Can’t use app since latest update
EDITED TO SAY: After update we couldn’t use the app (showing offline) we couldn’t reach tech support (ever) but we tried this and the app now works. Disconnect/unplug power at the bridge/wifi transmitter and at the gate transmitter. Leave the power off to both for a few minutes. Power them both up, it should give the system a good hard reset and hopefully will work for you like it did for us. Updated the app 2 days ago and now it will not work. So much for ‘bug fixes’. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

Works When It Wants To
The biggest issue is the lack of troubleshooting documentation. It only cares about the bridge. What about errors/warnings/no idea in the app. Icons that mean nothing. Information button that shows more unreadable or indecipherable icons. No in app troubleshooting or documentation. It has worked pretty well for the past few months except the past few weeks. Gate won’t open, no beeps, no info in app to say why. I’ve got the MM372W. The gate opener is a different story.

Avoid at all costs
This is hands down the worse investment we could’ve made to our property. If I could give this zero stars I would because one is too generous. We have spent I don’t know how much money & time trying to get the app and gate to work as it should. We have a hot spot & router and god only knows what else my husband has bought to make this work. Mighty Mule customer service is a complete joke as well. Honestly you’re better off physically getting out of your car to open & shut the gate. Tedious yes. But at least it would work every single time.

Awful app
What an awful app. It worked fine for a few weeks, and then started to backfire. Two nights in a row, the garage door opened by itself. I had not tinkered with auto settings. I reset the connection, but it would take several seconds, and then minutes, for the app to connect to the internet. I checked internet; every other app and gadget in the house was and is working fine. And then the most weird thing happened. It would show the door is close when the door would actually be open, and vice versa. I deleted and downloaded the app again. Same story. Any suggestions?

Don’t waste your time and money
The MMS100 internet bridge needed to use the wireless system and this app is a nightmare! After many hours of attempting to connect the bridges (returned the first one to see if the unit was faulty - same issues with the second unit), reviewing the Nice Technical Bulletin (the necessity for a troubleshooting tech bulletin is another indication of the common problems with the product), the purchase of a dedicated 2.4 GHz (that didn’t fix it either), and multiple calls to Mighty Mule’s Tech Support, I can authoritatively say “the app and internet bridge is a waste of time and money.”

Works Good
We use the WiFi adapter which is about 1200’ away, every once in a while it will loose connection but otherwise it works great. Only thing I would like to see is the ability to choose which users receive notifications, we have users that need access but I don’t like them to know every time we open and shut the gate.

Poor app
I am in agreement with most of the reviews. Most of the time it takes a while for the open/close button to become accessible. Many times it will say it is offline or there is no wifi when there is no issue with the wifi and the receiver is working properly. Sometimes it just won’t log in at all. Many times we have had to use our remote when we get to the gate. We will get multiple notifications or delayed notifications. When it works it is very helpful to have. Problem is, it doesn’t work way more than it does.

Pathetic app and device
Got it last year from Costco. Door opened at night while away on vaca. I came to know that the wall station is faulty and does that. Someone online mentioned about putting a thin layer of foam under the folding cover and that stopped it from activating the door by itself. This is app is bigger problem. Takes forever to Log in and then forever to load the device. Took forever to connect to wifi and loses wifi connectivity if router reboots for any reason say power outage. And guess how to reconnect? Delete and add devices from scratch!🙄Really? Pathetic app and device!

Garbage
I have spent the better part of my entire day trying to get this app to work. I spent 45 minutes waiting for customer service and they gave me bogus advice that changed nothing. At least 15 times I was able to get the device registered on the app...and the hit done to have the app go blank and then when I open the app up again it tells me there was an error and to send the error report. Spend the next 20 minutes trying to get the bridge to reset and reconnected to do the same thing again. Horrible. I am returning it to get my money back.

Completely broke app
First update in years and it makes the app unusable. My wife hasn’t updated the app and it at least functions most the time. I updated and it will not connect and says it’s offline. Have tried everything to get it to work and nothing works now. This app was already funky and was not reliable. Gate would open at random times, and not connect. Most the time we could reset or fix it. But since the update can’t even use it. Waste of money if not fixed

Which is worse?
I’m not sure which is worse, the app or the wireless gate system. Both are terrible. I was out trying to get the wireless driveway sensor working last week when the UPS driver showed up. I mentioned I was having trouble and he just laughed. “You and everyone else bro” was his reply. “These new systems are junk!” When my wireless keypad doesn’t work, which is about 60% of the time, I try the app but mostly I just get out of the car, pull the pin out off the gate arm and leave the gate open. Tech support is a joke.

Was awesome...then Sunday happened
I was super excited about being able to control this from afar, and it was working fine. I have my house surrounded by a gate on a dangerous street and my dogs help protect the house. It went haywire on Sun, causing the gate to open without me touching the Open circle, leaving my house COMPLETELY exposed at night while we were gone, my dogs ran out, and it took a while to get them back. You guys need to get to work ASAP. When this app is good, it’s good...when it’s bad, it’s HORRIBLE.

Great product
App works fine for me. It’s convenient to be able to operate the gate from anywhere. Installation instructions could use some work to be more clear. I am by no means an expert but I can see how the installation may be tricky for those who have no technical problem solving skills.

App quit working
Worked good for 6 months, then suddenly wouldn’t connect to gto server/ offline message is all I would get. Deleted app multiple times to try to reset, won’t do it, tells me the email address I have had for 15 years is invalid- call tech support, on hold multiple times for 30 minutes before hanging up in frustration, cannot find any way to email or otherwise contact the company. Would have rated 5 stars before this happened, now rate one since 0 isn’t an available option. Extremely disappointed.

Another piece of crap from mighty mule
Don’t waste your time. Any time you need to work with Mighty Mule they find an excuse why they can’t help. If they weren’t so in expensive I would not own any of their openers. Unfortunately they are about a fifth the price of the really good openers. So I will keep complaining about their crappy service and lack of warranty (or backing up their warranty). But they are cheap and if you are handy you can repair their poor workmanship easily when it does break. But this product completely blows even when it is not broken.

It just doesn’t work.
I’m kinda a gadget guy, and I wanted this app to work very badly. Alas, after hours trying to get the MMS100 to connect to my gate, to no avail, I gave up. Sometimes I was able to connect to my router, but not every time. I wish I’d read all the reviews before I purchased the MMS100 and saved myself the trouble. Save yourself some trouble, and don’t waste your time with the MMS100 or this app. Mighty Mule has terrific products, but this isn’t one of them. Highly disappointing and frustrating.

I previously reviewed this app as good but with issues, mostly regarding notifications that disappeared after an update. Since then, they’ve corrected the situation and my iPhone app is working 100%. I’m very happy with my gate opener and app and I’d recommend it to my friends.

Only good for live status
Seems to correctly report the current status of the gate and can open it from the app, the the history always says “Loading” and I never get notifications of events even if they happen to occasionally appear in the history. Even when the history works it only shows a couple events, not even a whole day.

Unreliable
This app is horrible. Constantly goes offline and I have to close the app and log back in every time i want to open the gate. I end up sitting at my gate for 3-5 minutes trying to get it to work before it finally does and for something that should be a simple push off a button. Mighty mule needs to correct this, I spent a great deal of money on your product and cannot take it back because it’s been installed. Now i am stuck with this garbage system.

Guests should not have the ability to change transmitter power.
Works mostly as advertised. Not the most reliable app. The largest problem is everyone with access has the ability to change the transmitter power to the station in the house which only the owner (admin) should have the ability to change.

Doesn’t work with Alexa!
I bought the extra WiFi set up specifically so we didn’t have to buy several remotes and to be controlled by Alexa. Worked well the first few months, then messed up and would t work at all. Finally reset up and the app is working again. However, it does not work with Alexa, at least, not with my gate. You might need to take this functionality out of the description. It’s false advertising.

Total waste of money! Complete crap!
This company talks a big game in the marketing department but the reality is this junk doesn’t work. Several times a month this app loses connectivity with the server. You cannot get support and after 30-45 minutes on hold, I give up. Eventually after a few hours or a few days the server will come back up and it will work again. I am now on day 4 of no server and fed up with this junk. My new lot in life is to share with everyone how crappy this mighty mule setup is.

Login Information Always Lost
Every time there is an update my TouchID information is lost. No other app does this upon updates. It completely erases the benefit of the network connection. Please fix this. Update - the company responded to my comment and blamed this behavior on me. They indicated that I was uninstalling the app before installing an update. This is false and insulting. The app auto-updates. All other apps do this and do not lose Touch-ID settings. Please fix this.

Latency issues
Add-on Getting frequent “Cannot connect to GTO servers at the moment” when trying to login in. Latency in app response continues, if and when it connects. I am a techie so ran the gamut and it appears to clearly be a GTO issue. Dropping to one star until they can resolve their server issues in regards to up time and responsiveness. In contrast, Chamberlain garage door opener spot on responsive to open/close and notifications. App is challenged with delayed notifications and not infrequently slow response time to commands. As others note got a notice gate was opened last evening half an hour or so after leaving and closing it by remote. MM100 is 12 feet from high end router and 30 feet from gate showing good connectivity. Other than this latency it seems to work fine.

It’s hard to believe they made something worse than their gate openers barely last a year. This app and the mms100 worked well for about a week all though set up was horrible. Now it gives be a message saying app disabled due to obstruction , but there is no obstruction and the gate has been cycled many tomes with the car remote since then. Now it says radio disconnected. I just need to replace everything from mighty mule with something else.

Just ok
The app could really use some updates. It doesn't keep you logged in, even though the option is selected to stay logged in. The option to not be notified when the light turned in or off doesn't work. It always sends a notification. I've used other garage door apps that allowed for receiving a message if the door has been open for X amount of time. This would be a great addition to the app.

GTO - Glitchy Turnstile Obstacle
What a piece of junk this MMS100 is. Do yourself a favor and save your money for a real gate opener. Mighty Mule is a sick animal that couldn’t pull a tick off a dog. I’ve had problems with MANY of their products and our property services company has now refused to install that brand for customers due to callbacks. The MMS100 is especially frustrating and may well represent a high water mark for GTO incompetence. Sorry for the bad news, but at least you have been warned…

Disappointed
I was hoping this would work as described, particularly the automatic events and geo triggers. I can’t even create an automatic event.??? The option is there but the app won’t let me do it. The option doesn’t even pop up for a geo trigger. This was pretty much why I bought this opener. Two gate opener came with a one gate control box…disappointing. Customer service sent a new one promptly. Correcting the mistake seems to be the only thing that has gone right.
