I love the reward system for every 2,000 pts you get a $20 gift card. Instead of opening up the app to claim them, you have to filter the +500 emails before they expire after 3 months. I wish there was a way to access them through the app for convenience of adding to apple wallet or view a print out. Another issue with the app itself is if you don’t claim your rewards ($20 gift) they still display how much money you’ve earned but you still can’t claim them. Please fix the reward system.

I’ve had a zero balance on the card for a long time, years. I recently made a large purchase and paid of 2/3 of the price immediately and planned to pay off the rest later in the month before the balance was due. 3 days after the payment I made on the app a reoccurring payment that I had set up a couple of years ago also went through which gave me a credit on the account of several hundred dollars. No notification was sent to my email about this reoccurring payment before or after the payment went through. I just noticed when I checked my bank account balance a few days later. Why didn’t the app remind me of an out dated reoccurring payment and why didn’t it just take out enough to make the account a zero balance? This card and app is so outdated I will no longer use. I called and requested a refund and will now have to wait a couple of weeks (7-10 plus mail time) to get my money back which I didn’t even owe them. The lady helping from customer service was very nice but this credit card system and all is a mess. I ended up just cancelling the card on the same call because of the inconvenient situation the outdated system put me in.

I scheduled a payment for every two weeks because I need to ensure that this card is paid off. I am active duty, and MilStar will notify my actual chain of command if I miss a payment (thanks guys). The issue comes in when I get paid on the 1st and 15th, and don’t get charged on those days. Numerous times the payments have come out several days early. It becomes easy to lose track of when the payment was scheduled. The website has the option to change scheduled payments, but when I look for that option in the app, after a payment has gone through I get a message stating that only one payment can go through per week. I’m not trying to pay you again, I’m trying to reschedule my payments so that I can avoid overdraft fees in my checking account. This app seems like it’s making improvements but at this point it makes more sense to use the web browser as it somehow has more functionality.

This is easily the worst app I have ever used. As an iTunes app intended for use by Apple users, why would you make an app incompatible with Apple’s Keychain? First, it doesn’t recognize that Keychain has a user name and password for the Military Star. Then when you force it to utilize Keychain it still fails. Sometimes it won’t recognize that there is data entered despite displaying characters, other times it just does nothing when you select a Keychain to enter. Second,TouchID does not work and nothing shows up in settings that allows you to turn it on. I can’t even log on that way! While I don’t have FaceID, I can only assume it is the same from the number of complaints I see. I still have to log on via a web browser which defeats the purpose of actually having an app. Lastly, who creates an app that can’t be rotated and viewed in landscape mode? I am not surprised that it appears AAFES didn’t check the app they paid a developer to create, they aren’t really known for their customer service or attention to detail. You would think that when finally catching up to what nearly every other financial institution has been doing for the last 10-15 years, AAFES might want to get this one right. Come on folks, we were all really looking forward to this one! If it starts working I will absolutely change my ratings.

Most every-other credit card companies put the rewards where you can use them easily. Either by paying on the balance or through the app. Not this one, they send you an email that may or may not go into your spam filter because it is worded like most scam bot emails. The card they send you in the email is a 3 step process to even see it, that is IF the store you are in is able to get a signal for you to get the email. (Good luck OCONUS) Also, they say you have 3 months to use it, but when they issue it in the middle of the month, you only have 2 months to actually use it. This outdated “rewards” system only benefits them because so many people can’t use it and Military Star gets to keep that money. Based on the previous reviews, this will likely not do anything but make me feel better about getting the word out.

I would really believe no one or very few people use this app( if even possible to log on) to conduct business with the online exchange. Seems beneficiaries just login on internet because mobile app is broken and not a viable or convenient solution. Not hard to believe in this day in age that hard earned beneficiaries dollars are not being spent properly again or the product properly vetted or verified in good working order. What ever happened to quality control, I guess it would explain a lot of the problems in the headlines lately. And I guess no one really cares anymore. P.S. don’t attach any response to this review like the others unless it includes a list of all people responsible for this cluster called the military star app.

I saw somebody else mention it and I was going to as well at some point. If the developers could put in a extra section on the rewards tab for accumulated gift cards, I think that would be an excellent addition to the app. as well as an opting out slide for limiting the spam in emails with irrelevant notifications, and unwarranted/unasked for advertising - but I suppose if it’s in the terms and conditions…theeeen…. Chill out with all the emails. People only wanna know when they actually benefit.

I am able to log in with Touch ID on my iOS device, but wish I could have access to my card in Apple Wallet. I live in an area hundreds of miles from any exchange or commissary, so never cary the physical card on me. It would be nice to be able to pay with my Star Card when I randomly travel to an area that has them. Aside from that issue, I’m happy I can at least pay my bill from the app.

The complaint the user had on 6 January is fixed!! Yay, now can we get the card in Apple Wallet? Also can the rewards be loaded onto the app for use or just show up at the register so that the card owner can be asked if they want to use the rewards at that visit. I shouldn’t have to leave the register and go to customer service, if I forgot the card. For just general use, the app is good now that the TouchId debacle is fixed.

I have an iPhone 7 and I just downloaded the app. The challenge I’m having is whenever I go to enter my password, the Field for the password is blocked so I can’t see what I’m typing. When I login via the web it works perfectly but whenever I try to login with the app it is difficult because I can’t verify what is being typed on the screen.

I’ve been long awaiting the day Military Star Card came out with an app to make card payments by phone and I love that it’s finally happened. Only thing I’m confused about is are the rewards going to be strictly mobile from now on? Or are $20 rewards gift cards, for example, still going to be sent? If so, is there a plan to allow us to update our billing address in the app?

I love this app, it is easier to pay through the app then on the computer or in person. However, I wish there was a way that allows notifications via text or email about payment confirmation, due date and set a reminder of when to pay and when posted. Overall it is a great app and I have had very little issues with this app. Thanks

I’ve been locked out of my account for months. Everytime I call to get told my account is locked and that I need to make a payment which I tried to do. The account never got unlocked and I could not make my payments. I ended up EASing and I called to continue to try pay and get my account unlocked. Now to as well updat my address. I kept getting told there was nothing they could do till I made a payment. which I was trying to do. Now they sent my account to collections. Do not recommend!

Updated the app today because it had a message which prevented me from using the app unless I updated. So, I downloaded the update and now the app crashes back to home screen whenever I attempt to use it. Every. Single. Time. It’s dead to me and I’ve uninstalled it. Also, when the app still functioned for me, I would’ve enjoyed having the rewards gift cards somehow implemented through use of the app instead of being emailed.

Just started using the app recently, as a new cardholder. Logging in with Touch ID seems to be fixed from the last review I saw, but is there a plan in place to enable ApplePay using that same Touch ID feature? Personally would much rather see this be setup rather than having to put in my bank information.

Bought a firearm on sale and the same day I got the card, I got discount from having the card and was told that I would get a discount later or just call the customer service. I didn’t got the discount and the store doesn’t return firearms to sell again to apply the discount so the manager called the company and until this day they keep telling me to “check next week” and I never got the discount

It makes my financial management way more convenient. However, the Touch ID login option does not work properly. Please check on that and fix it, then I will update my review after the latest updated version. Thank you.

Face ID needs to work!!!! Sent several messages, called - no one seems to actually care Just updated -ALERT failed to connect back end services. What’s the point if this useless app & developers NEVER respond. UPDATE deleted app and reinstalled- Face ID working now !!!👍👍

Within a minute of downloading this app I was able to access my account, pay bills, and check on a number of other account information. Simple, easy to use and necessary for mobile banking.

Is anyone else having the issue on their iPhone where the App will not open? Just stays on the opening screen. Been like this for more than a month now.

The app worked great for a month. Recently I started receiving an unsafe site prompt from my Norton software. The app displayed an error saying network issues. I deleted the app , rebooted my phone and reinstalled the app but with no success. I know the Norton software is solid because all my other apps work fine! Please fix this issue as it was great paying quickly through the app!

Everything seems to work fine for me but being able to pay on your account. It keeps saying “sorry something went wrong” tried closing the app, deleting The app, restarting my phone and all but nothing.

I have spent the last hour trying to find the emails for the $80 in rewards they owe me, I can’t find it to open it to find this so-called barcode. How hard is it to put a button that says redeem rewards on your app to make it simple? Very disappointed in the administrators who have set up this app in such a inefficient manner.

I’ve been using a linked mobile site to manage my account for years. Finally there is an app and I’m excited 🤗. So far the app does everything I need. Very nice and simple design, but feature-rich!

This app far surpassed my expectations with the ability to quickly sign in with my fingerprint, check my balance and pay my bill, all within a responsive and intuitive design. Great work AAFES!

Your app is broken. I can’t even log into my account. I changed my password and everything but I still get, oops something went wrong and can’t log in. I haven’t touched my star card since I got out of the military but I still have to pay it off, NO WHERE on the website or this app can I find the option to make a payment and I’ve tried FOR A LONG TIME! I’m convinced you don’t want your money back smh

Why is my main debit card being randomly removed and restricted from being able to make payments? My main debit card is literally just fine. Thank goodness I had another debit card I could use in order to make payments. Please unblock my main debit card and let me make payments on that one!

Like many others, I have been waiting for such an app. Works like a charm thus far. Thank you for making it easy to use and bringing the info to us via app!

I really hate writing reviews but this app is horrible. I have changed my password 8 times this month because I think I forget my password. I add a new one and it was the one I was using. I just put in a new password save it and then try to relogin and it says information doesn’t match. I LITERALLY JUST UPDATED IT!!

I’ve had this app for about a year maybe two. In that time, I’ve had to uninstall it several times. Almost every time I go to open it, it just sits there trying to load. Can you guys seriously fix this? I like being able to pay through the app and have had to call in my payment.

The app was fine up until the last IOS update and now the app states that it's has issues accessing the server each time. So not sure if it's just an update needed for the app to be compatible with the new update or if there is a bigger issue and the server was hacked.

Myself and many others request that Apple Pay be added so when I go into the exchange I can tap my wrist and rack up debt faster than fellow my fellow airmen

I have about 10,000 points and I filtered all emails and received no notification on how to use my points. I don’t know why there isn’t an in-app option to use my points. I’ve reach out to military star to get this fixed and I have received no response.

Come on, an app that doesn't allow you to use a password manager like LastPass? I can't even copy and paste the password. And why can I not view my rewards cards? They force you to carry around a barcode that will inevitably be forgotten.

I have to delete the app after using it a couple times. On the third or fourth use it freezes. Very annoying. Most of the time it won’t even connect so it doesn’t open. Actually fast just to go to the website

Now can I really view and manage automatic payments? Let’s see!

This app requires you to delete your current account, and start all over. It does NOT work with an existing Star Card account. It rejected my log in after 32 tries. Absolutely rubbish and a waste of my time. Get this off the app store, now!!!

Love being able to access my account thru this app! Kudos to the Exchange for bringing this valuable tool to the invaluable customers they serve!

App was working fine but can’t take screenshots of any payments anymore. It just a black screenshot, please fix or have the ability to print/copy a confirmation page from the app.

I can login into my account online but the app says my credentials are wrong. This is crazy I can’t use the app at all and would prefer to so I don’t have to use the internet. Can you fix this issue or do I have create a separate login for the app?

I really like being able to scroll through the current MilStar promotions, nice feature.

Allow the app to work in landscape mode. Allow the app to work when using split screen. Fix the app so that it works with IOS password saving function.

Just downloaded the app so no issues so far. We shall see. I mainly got it so I can make payments and keep track of my account as I go.

I’ve been waiting literal years for a military star app, and I’m finally glad they released one.

I have had to call the number at least three times because it says I cannot log on and it does not recognize me. Each time they say I needed to register for the first time.

Makes checking my balance, looking at my txns and making payments a breeze!

I had the app for a few months. It was working great. All of a sudden I can login anymore. I have Norton antivirus/malware on my phone. Norton says the app is unsafe to use. Any help on this? Hard/software need reformatting and debugged? It won’t even let me login using the app.

I have to agree with the many other users who do not like iPhone apps on the iPad. That is the singularly most irritating thing in an app on the iPad, not being able to use the complete set of features and functions that come with the iPad over the iPhone.

I have had this app for at least a year probably much longer.. It has only worked twice. Every other time it just spins. I have to go and log into the browser website. What is the point of the app if it’s not going to work?
