20 years and never dissatisfied with the customer service
I am most definitely not a rockstar. But I enjoy playing my guitars, acoustic and electric, to lap steel. And I love my amps, pedals, etc. And that’s not to say that every purchase arrived without problems. I have had to send back one guitar that was delivered damaged. And I have a bass that arrived scratched. But I love it regardless. And I was offered to have it replaced, get a partial credit. I chose the latter to use for the 2 year protection plan. And one boss effect pedal that doesn’t work properly. That needs to be addressed. But that’s a rare problem likely due to the manufacturing or shipping. They sent me a replacement for the resonator guitar that was faulty before I could ship the damaged one back. And didn’t give me any crap. That’s 3 things in 20+ purchases, over 20 years. To an Alaskan resident. And no AK is not Siberia. But my loyalty lies with musicians friend.

Love Musician’s Friend. App and web page need work
Musician’s Friend overall is much better than the GC retail stores. I’ve had excellent customer service most of the time I’ve called. Sometimes when they realize they’re not going to make a sale, they’ll lose interest, but this is to be expected. This is how they make their money. The discounts are good. The point system is great. The “Stupid Deal of the Day” can be amazing if you watch for good sales- with the exception that there are many repeats. They will work with the price on many items if you call. My only true complaint is the app which rarely works correctly regardless of how many times I’ve updated on my iPhone and the order tracking, even on the actual webpage sitting at my computer, can be frustrating. Sometimes you can find it, sometimes it won’t even load. So if you order, you just have to be patient. It will arrive when it arrives. Don’t order something if you have to have it for a gig in a week, bc it might not make it even though it says it will, even if you can find the stated delivery date. Don’t let this be a deterrent though. Most items do arrive on time.

The place to shop for music stuff
These folks are great!! Wide variety. Good prices and 8% back for future purchases. They are exceptional about customer service and returns. The “stupid deal of the day” items are true deals, not just pretend deals — and enough truly useful gear is sold that way that I do check it every day. Sometimes if you call you can get an even better deal than simply clicking “buy”. What a gift this business is!

Horrible app and shopping experience
So, first of all I have a credit card with this company. I have tried to order online through the app for several months. I kept getting a message that it can not be processed and that I have to call a 1 800 number. I was informed that they are having problems with the app or online orders. For like 2 months now? Really? When I called the number and talked to someone I could barely understand them since the connection was horrible. He began to tell me I could place my order over the phone. Umm..I don’t think so. I was not confident that since I couldn’t even make out what he was saying (not because of foreign accent). This is my 3rd time dealing with Musicians Friend and it has been bad. This is probably one of the reasons they are having to file for bankruptcy. So, I would not recommend this app or to shop with them. I will be canceling my credit card with them and look for another retailer to purchase from.

Two Overall Bugs:
I’m glad musicians friend has an app where I can browse their inventory, however, I have always run across two bugs which occurred on my older phone and now also on my brand new phone as follows: 1) there are many times where you cannot retrieve your order history and you get an error message and trying to do so, and, 2) The rewards points total is rarely updated. I usually see the same balance over a long period of time even though I may have used some of my rewards points. Question, recently inventory seems low and many items are “On Reserve” to purchase. Is this because imports are slow coming in, manufacturers have slowed production, or sales have been that good?

I’ve only had one experience with the “online” Musicians Friend. That turned into a phone call. That was a very cordial, pleasant, helpful, and overall, a very personable customer representative that I spoke with. Very few C.S.R.’s show an interest of a customer like Stephen Harrington did.! I can only hope he’s a reflection of the service that is a ‘given’ with the rest of the staff. He answered all of my questions and ultimately I placed an order which I received in 2 days! I’m not reviewing the product, (as I have not used it yet), only my experience with the representative. If my future encounters are the same, I have no hesitation in 5 stars!

Everythings fine until you have an issue!!
Good luck with a return or canceling!! Takes forever to get the funds credited back to your account! Great sales staff until the product is not what you expected, possibly damaged, or you have a shipping error. If you have an IT problem, missing rewards points etc, forget youre on your own!! They will however send you multiple links to reset your password. Do yourself a favor although its not much better go to a Guitar Center store, at least there you can speak to someone in the flesh, and get their actual name! Must easier to return, exchange or if youre really pleased theres management there to thanks and pass on the good/bad experience to.

Love MF but app needs work
Love buying from them, but will use website next time. This app seems to find every reason for a customer to abandon a purchase and we musicians aren’t known for our focus. It’s taken me 22 minutes to order a simple mid-boost mod kit for a strat. Shopping cart tech seems fine, but I’m having it shipped to my luthier, and it choked on the “℅” care of, as well as an apostrophe. I corrected this by removing both, but the shipping label still had crazy characters and red errors flagged. Only resolution was create a 3rd address with fewer than 22 characters. Hope this initial PITA isn’t indicative of this mod that I’m excited for. Ending on a very positive note, I was able to pay for it fully using backstage points!! Yet found another pair of products I’ve added to my want list to be bought later.

Love the app, but…..
I love looking at the Musician’s Friend app at all the great stuff, but what bothers me is that on Stupid Deal of the Hour, it doesn’t give hourly updates. In other words, I miss 90% of the deals because I can’t keep up with it during the day because I’m working and can’t check in every hour. But should I get an update I can quickly glance to see if I’m interested. MF always has great deals though.

New app leaves “stupid deal” out of picture
With the new app I no longer get notifications of the Stupid deal of the Day. So often I forget to check it. Which I imagine is the same for others. It was not unusual for me to go to the website from the SDOTD app and shop for other items. Not so much any more since I don’t se the deal of the day as often. I bet I miss it 3-4 times a week now. Whereas before it was a part of my daily ritual.

Reward points don’t update
Easy to use for looking at/researching products, But it never updates my Backstage Pass points (even after uninstalling/reinstalling) so I generally don’t use it to make purchases. I’m sure there are a lot of impulse buys in musical gear, and that one flaw gives people a reason to not buy on the spot and decide to get on the website later (or not).

Crashes when trying to log in
This app used to work brilliantly. Now, after update, it crashes on launching. I deleted the app and re-downloaded it. Now it crashes in the middle of typing my log in info. Hello, MF programmers!! You guys need to fix something! This is happening to more people than just one or two.

Bring back SDOTD app!!
I’ve had the OLD stupid deal of the day app on my phone for years. It was orange. It’s an app you open, and it has the stupid deal of the day right there on one page. No other options.. super simple and perfect. I just updated to iOS 17 and the app doesn’t work any more :’( The musicians friend app is okay. Nothing incredible but it works. I miss being able to tap an app and just be able to see that deal though. It was one of my creature comfort apps I guess.

Please Do Better
I love Musicians Friend, by far my favorite way to buy gear. The app just needs work. It is slow, and the worst feature is that when I click on the promotion deals and then filter to the category I want, if I click on any item, when I exit that item it clears the whole search and I have to start over again. The app also regularly freezes on me, including five minutes ago when I was looking at one of the promotional deals. I far prefer the website to the app, please make it slick because I’d love to use the app.

Works well
When I first installed this app, I gave it one star because it was dead slow. I uninstalled it and later gave it another try. Now it works well. Just as it should. But I don’t really see the advantage (to me) over using the web. But there’s probably an advantage for MF or they wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of making an app that pretty much is just like the website. Anyway, it works fine.

Decent app
Decent app for shopping quickly for deals. But my first attempt to purchase something through Musician’s Friend was on the app and was difficult. It kept giving me an error, telling me to choose a payment method, even though I had everything filled out. I logged in on the web and was immediately able to complete my purchase without any errors or difficulties.

Reward points always = 0
Although I have over 6700 points my total available is always zero. Over the months I have talked to various customer service reps, etc and submitted “complaints on line all to no avail. Using the browser, my rewards are accurate. Using this app, I can’t apply reward discounts unless I call or use the browser - defeats the purpose of using this app.

Good store bad app
This is such a broken app it’s barely usable. The business itself is great. They have a large selection and great deals. The app however is a buggy mess. Searches don’t work well. Anytime I try to view anything on my wishlist it say unavailable even though it is in stock. It crashes constantly. There are many other problems that I don’t want to take the time to list, but it’s a shame because they are a good company and I like to give them my business, just not through the app.

Love website itself but app doesn’t work
I’ve bought all my equipment from you guys, but this app will not open without crashing. I was excited when I found this app with such good ratings because the mobile website isn’t great and I’m looking to buy a digital piano and some other things. So I got the app but it crashes within one second. I wish you guys coulld make the site easier to use or modernize/simplify it. I love you guys but that website is straight out of the early 2000s. I’m gonna have to go on my laptop to get the piano lol

Disappointing experience
I just downloaded the app. It was easy to navigate and add items to my cart. I stepped away for one hour, and everything had cleared from my cart when I came back to finish my purchase. I added everything again, but my cart cleared again in less than one hour. I don’t have the time or interest in working this hard to spend money with this company. Other apps save your cart for at least a few hours, so I will be shopping with them.

It does the job.
Honestly, the look of the app is pretty ugly. Also, it’s a little more difficult to look up products than it is on the website. However, when all you’re trying to do is pick out a piece of gear that you already know you want to purchase it, the app is fine.

Great for finding items
I downloaded this app because I had used the website for years. But it seems that the website and app are having the same issue. They won’t let me remove items from my cart, and maybe it was my fault since I believe I’ve left things in my cart for a long time. However, at this time, I can not purchase anything with my account, because I can not update my cart.

Horrible app
I find this to be an incredibly laggy app. I tried to utilize it for approximately a year. The deal of the day is always two or more days old, my information is not saved, I get logged out in the middle of transactions, and the app just crashes. I have an iPhone 12pro so I’m pretty sure it’s not my phone. It’s a cursed app that has made me avoid the store altogether. There are other places that make the process of taking my money much easier so no worries but hoo boy, what a junky app.

Just not enough info
When you look at other sites and/or apps of other retailers, you find a ton mor info on the instruments. When you look at Musicians Friend/GC, you don’t see anything but decent pics at best and nothing about the guitar except for “comes with case”. It would be great to also include the neck shape, 1st and 12th fret measurements, pickup type/name, finish type, etc.,..

Simple and fast!
Musicians Friend is simple to use and the customer support is phenomenal. They refunded us on mics that turned out to be poor quality and let me keep them. Some of them still worked so I thought it was great customer service considering it was a hassle at first.

Musician Friends drop the ball :(
I started to order small stuff from MF and I received my stuff ... So my birthday was coming up so I decided to order bigger stuff like a Randall 35watt 1x8 speaker cabinet and Mooer King Chorus guitar pedal . When I ordered those items it was on “back ordered”. Later days on I seen my bank statements with MF charges for Randall speaker cabinet and no email tracking number or phone call mind you stating it’s on it’s way...Grrr!!!! Well I ask what’s going on with my stuff and email came back to me stating you already have your cabinet & chorus pedal :( MF has my cell number to call me instead of emails after emails and my freight is still missing and all I got for my birthday is shorted $150+ by Musician Friends Company ..What a rotten way to do business besides screwing up a old man 63rd birthday celebration...

Don't work at all
Page opens for a split second then disappears . Haven't been able to put items in my cart in months . Pictures and pages never fully load on the website at all anymore. I thought if I installed the app I might be able to actually buy something . Guess not . I guess they don't want my business anymore . Neither does Guitar Center or Music 123 or Woodwind and Brasswind . I can't get any of these sites to work anymore . Guess I'll need to start using Sweetwater .

So slow. Crashes frequently.
The layout is esthetically pleasing. But it takes 30 seconds to load the images for an item or to see the reviews. It is difficult to browse because their categories lack granularity (e.g. they batched amps and pedals. Granted, it got me looking at pedals too but took several sessions to find what I was looking for). And the app crashes frequently (approximately once every 10 minutes of use).

This is how an app should work! I’ve always liked how easy the Musicians Friend web site was to use. An earlier version of the app I had tried seemed clunky and not as intuitive as the web site, so I deleted it. This new version ROCKS!

I was looking to buy a Martin 00LX2E when you had 3X points but you guys didn’t have it yet so I waited a week still nothing contacted your online chat no help so I contacted Martin direct to see if you were getting them they said they were sent to Musicians Friend on February 28th I noticed you have the Martin 00X2E but the description is a Martin 00LX1AE. Now it’s March 28th still it’s not listed. I want to buy now but apparently someone doesn’t know how to work the website.

My son and wife have bought me MF Gift certificates for years. She also brought my 25th anniversary strat from you. Great gifts! Last year I used a gift card to buy a coil guitar cord and other small accessories. The cord did not work on one of my guitars and one end was bad. I have a strat, a Tele, and a PRS When I called, I was told that 2 of 3 isn’t bad. That didn’t seem like a good answer. I just decided to suggest that they use another retailer. They’ve grown with me.
Musician’s Friend has been my first choice for buying my music gear since I got my first job back in 2002. Now, I’m still trucking with this fine company and even have a fellow named Steven who helps me with my larger purchases. This is my favorite store.

App needs a Refresh button
The only way to see the current day’s Stupid Deal is to terminate the app, then restart it, which is a real pain. Seems like auto refresh or even a button that allowed you to refresh the stupid deal would make the app more usable.

Not bad
Works well, it responds fast compared to the old very limited app, I can do everything I need to do with the app on my phone. Using the web browser on my phone is very clunky. This app is well built.

Good Bach instruments
Overall, very good app for me as a trombonist. looking at Bach instruments, I really wish that they had more details for the Bach 42BO and the 42BOF I can’t decide on which one to buy. Overall five stars.

Pretty darn good
My favorite out of the big box music stores The only difference I can see between MF and their sister co. GC is a few different limited edition colors on some instruments and MF carries Musicians Gear strings which are $2.50 packs of cheap strings which I dig for casual play

They have good deals but I have had issues and problems with back order products, suggest you don’t order anything from this app or website unless it is in stock. You could end up paying for something you never will receive.

Just deleted app
I opened the app this morning to buy some great and the screen “asked” ID ID allow notifications. Only problem was that the only way to get past the screen and into the app was to press “Allow”. Not in to businesses that force you to allow them to intrude on your time at their whim. Used to be a decent on-line commerce app. Not on my phone.

This App Doesn’t Work Well
Let me preface this by saying I like the company and have ordered from them many times. I haven’t been able to place and order using the app on the 4 different occasions that I’ve tried. If you want to use the app to browse their inventory then it works just fine but don’t try to buy anything, it won’t let you.
