My cats are DEMANDING of food. 5:00am and 5:00pm - like clockwork. They drive me crazy. Not being able to sleep in a little on the weekends is frustrating. Coming home to unhappy cats when I get off work late from a shift at the hospital seems unfair. And, my cats are on a prescription diet; I can’t just leave a bowl of expensive food out all day for them to chow down on and become overweight. So, I bought the PetSafe automatic feeder. It’s programmed to go off at 5:00am and 5:00pm each day and once it does, I get a notification on my phone that my cats have received their exact measured portion of food. The notification on my phone is a really nice touch, because when I left the state for four days, I received the peace of mind that my cats were taken care of. And on the fourth day, coming home, my feeder alerted me that it was low on food and to refill it so the cats continue to receive their regular meals. The feeder holds much more than four days of food. I just didn’t fill it completely before I left AND I programmed it to give them a little snack in the middle of the day while I was gone to take the place of the dental treats they would typically get if I were home. I will never go back to life without my PetSafe feeder (if I can help it). It just makes my life so much easier. And it keeps my cats happy and healthy.

The petsafe scoop free litter box is really nice ! We got the unit that includes the hood and the tracker. I am not a fan of scooping out the litter box, so for me, this was a game changer. Our Sphynx kitten took to it instantly and uses it without hesitation. I like that the unit looks nice and pleasant as well. No one wants an eyesore. This is also my first experience with crystal litter and I will say I am a fan. The odor is mild (until the litter needs changed), which is a must for me. Stinky boxes are a no go. The set up was easy and did not take a lot of time either, so that is another plus. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the litter tray does not last a month like it states. It lasts my 1, 14 week old kitten maybe 2-2 1/2 weeks. I don’t really mind it, but it would be nice for them to be transparent about that.

I upgraded my cat setup. I got the scoop-free litter box and an automatic feeder and waterer (uses a different app than this one, but it will be my next review). This product is a LIFESAVER. Apollo only took only a day to make the change. He was scared of it at first but now he has chosen this over his old litter box. And I like it SO much more because it doesn’t clump and stick to his feet like my old clumping litter did. It would make a mess in my bathroom I had to clean up every few days. I put my mat under this one just in case but the litter has stayed completely in the box. I have smelled no smells either. The app hooks up perfectly so I can monitor when he uses it and how frequently. You can also do a manual scoop if the last scoop didn’t get everything (it usually does though). But now when I go out of town, I do not worry about my cat! Also set up a camera so I can check on him and his food levels and bathroom habits. Previously I had to ask one of my friends/neighbors to pop in and check on him if I had to go somewhere. Thankfully I do not have to do that anymore!

I bought the newest version of the Smart Scoop Free with the blue crystals. The box comes with a bag of crystals and a disposable tray. I used to have a clay litter box that was also self cleaning but too small. My cat took about a week of side by side litter boxes to make the transition. I like how the crystals don’t stick to her like the clumping litter did. And I like how there’s no overwhelming perfume from the litter. I can tell her pee spots because the crystals turn greenish. And her #2’s get pushed out of site and don’t smell for long. Like maybe 5 mins right after? But the debris under the catchment doesn’t smell the room up and it’s much better than the clay litter. The Ap on my smartphone (Apple I phone) works great and I can see how regular she is. And I think she likes the box also and has learned not to be fearful of the rake. She doesn’t leap and run out of it like the old one that was circular and always turning around. I will put the hood/cover on it soon for her privacy.

Old app was better but discontinued so I had to switch to this. Lowest setting of the feeder (1/8 cup) is the most my cat should be getting for breakfast and the old app was great to feed him early in the morning before I wanted to go physically scoop kibble. The new app dispenses a double feeding about 20% of the time (i.e. one feeding is given and then another immediately thereafter and I get two notifications that pet was fed within a minute). At first I thought maybe I was double clicking or something but now I am very careful to only click once and it still randomly double feeds. This is a real issue because I got this for portion control and now I need to run to the feeder to take out half the food when this error occurs. Old app I would give 5 stars. Not sure why they discontinued. New app is terrible. Will be really disappointed if I have to buy another expensive feeder from a different manufacturer. PLEASE FIX THE DOUBLE FEEDING BUG!!!

I like this. I've never had a problem with connectivity and the schedule is wonderful. The only issue is that when the food gets low I get a notification about the Dash ordering that I cannot read. When I open the notification it disappears and I have no idea what the instructions were. I've had my petsafe dispensers for a year and a half and it has auto ordered for me maybe 3 or 4 times and I wanted it to order probably 8 or more. I don't understand if opening that notification cancels it or what. It seems like interacting with the screen on my phone in any way banishes the Dash notification to the underworld. Really irritating.

First off, I would like to say this product has really helped my Labrador retriever. He has an esophageal problem that causes him to regurgitate food if he eats too fast or more than a cup at a time. Feeding him a cup four times a day has completely ended this problem. Thank you for such a wonderful product. Now, my question for the developers; since it takes 15 minutes to slow feed my dog waits by the feeder yet doesn’t know when it’s done. Would it be possible to have the feeder play some sort of auditory signal letting the dog know it’s done for that feeding session? This could be as simple as a single beep. We have 2 of these feeders. We originally bought them for our cats because we were going on vacation several years ago and didn’t want our pet sitter to have to deal with our cat’s early morning, and multiple feed schedules throughout the day. After vacation we decided to use them on a regular basis. Our cats no longer wake us early in the morning on weekends to feed them. They both love being on a schedule, and so do we. The feeders also have a battery backup system which has kicked in when we lost power. I did a lot of research before purchasing these. They’re great and I would highly recommend them!

My feeder has been on and off with each update. It disconnects from the wifi. I have uninstalled the app. I have reset the wifi on my app. I have refreshed my router/modem. I have removed the batteries and left my feeder disconnected from the power source for more than an hour and still the app refuses to connect correctly with my feeder. The app states it has feed my dog but I have stood there several times to see if it actually sends the signal and once I get a notification on my phone that the feed has fed my dog. The feeders light starts blinking like it lost internet connection. Everything in my house that uses wifi work great other than the feeders connection. That is why I removed 2 stars. Fix the problem and I will rate it 5 stars again.

First issue I had was the door was retired by the app before I even had it installed. However the company stood behind their products and replaced the door free of charge, so fantastic customer service there. That does not however excuse this abysmal app. Setting a schedule is easy, but using it is nearly impossible. The display when in “smart” just shows that it’s in smart mode. Is it locked, unlocked, or what? No idea, it’s just “smart”. As a human I’ve been unable to get the door to open with a tag when the schedule says it should be unlocked (but I can’t tell because it’s just “smart”). I’ve gone to just manually locking and unlocking the door because I can’t trust the app. Certainly not more convenient than just opening a door.

The product and the app are great. Our cat likes to eat small meals throughout the day, so the 1/8 cup portions are perfect. It helps when we are on vacation- the pet sitter doesn’t have to stop by multiple times a day and I can monitor the schedule. Two additions I’d like to see: the option to skip a meal without having to change the schedule and re-add it later. Also to have a lock feature on the snack/power button - somehow our cat learned how to press it and has turned it off on occasion.

There seem to be so many glitches with the app that I couldn’t trust my pet would get fed so I deleted it and reloaded the old app which is fantastic and very trustworthy. The old app has the ability to prime the feeder snd give a snack to my pet when I’m not home. The new app doesn’t save the correct times, doesn’t put the feeding times in order on the schedule, skips feeding times, and doesn’t do push notifications despite having that feature turned on. Your app needs a lot of work! Also, among the other things that I discovered, the new app doesn’t show the back up battery percentage of power remaining which is essential. Overall, it seems the new app is not well though out at all, and in my opinion, the focus is mainly on esthetics and is very poorly executed for function.

I had problems when I was forced to switch from the old app to this one and it hasn’t been fixed since. I do not get any notifications, despite the fact that they are all turned on. This includes notifications for low food level. I received notifications with the old app, but none with this one. I’ve sent several emails and get no help. My animals have missed feedings because I didn’t know they were out of food. It was so much better before you guys “improved” it. I have to do everything myself rather than being able to trust that I’ll be notified when my pets are fed or especially when the food gets low. Now there’s no point even having the app, it’s like every other feeder in the market. Save your money - just get a regular feeder that doesn’t depend on an app!

I have 4 of these feeders and have been using these products many years. 2 are currently in use to feed 4 cats and I use the pet safe bowl splitter to divide it up. They seem to be getting worse over time and that is why I switched to 2 feeders instead of using all at once. The feeders are both set for the exact same time and they go off 14 minutes apart!! This is a major issue when trying to feed multiple pets and keep a consistent schedule. It’s also annoying that the time increments and food amount settings are pretty basic and you cannot customize it. Also I get random notifications that the food is low or empty and when I check it’s not. These feeders are expensive at $179 each. Please fix these errors.

Really would love to see features like Siri commands (say to dispense food), or that tap and hold feature that other apps use to dispense an amount you set in the app somewhere.. but nope. Also I manually dispense food as I’m taking my dog out for the night. My issue in this case is it seems as soon as my phone goes off WiFi, shortly after getting the notification the pet was fed, that it can sometimes DISPENSE AGAIN. So I’m rushing back inside to make sure my pet wasn’t over fed. Not having the features I’m hoping for is fine but the bug I experience makes me want to sell the feeder and just do it by hand, at least then i won’t be over feeding my cat.

I’ve tried literally everything, down to doing the same routine minus Bluetooth being on when the SmartFeed is on, to having it on but not WiFi, to the auto join vs manually adding my WiFi info. No matter what, it says “oops there’s an error” when the blue light starts flashing fast. And I did try what some people said worked which is to try and do it on my phone’s data plan. This is the SECOND feeder we’ve tried to use, after being on the phone for an hour with someone who eventually sent us a free feeder to replace the other one that didn’t connect. I appreciate the sentiment but ultimately we’re talking over $100 for something that clearly works, but the app just won’t do it’s job in the beginning. VERY disappointed. GET ON THE APP AND FIX IT PETSAFE.

I like my feeder. It has really helped set a diet for my cats and they lost some weight. However the notifications leave a lot to be desired. It sends a notification that food is getting low a long time before it's really low, so I tend to ignore it. There is only an option for push notifications, and not email or text which would be better. So the feeder is close to empty, and I never saw a notification that it was empty until I went to the app. I'm forced to make a calendar reminder. Oh well.

Where are my 2 adorable fur babies at 11:50a on any day of the week? Why, sitting in front of the lunch robot of course, waiting for the noon slow-feed! Separating the portions out by 15 minutes gives my cats time to switch places, ensuring they each get some lunch. I’ve never had a problem with it and I receive an alert if for some reason a portion was not dropped. I’d definitely recommend this-especially for 9-5ers that want to give their felines a little midday treat!

I like to have a set schedule for my cats feeding time. But in the app when I set the time for 5:00am i confirm done then it changes to 4:00am. This makes the whole entire system counter productive considering have to feed them myself from the machine because the schedule section of the app doesn’t even work properly. I have tried updating it deleting the app I even hard reset my phone and it still doesn’t work properly. Please fix this app and this will be a 5 start product

The time is off by 1 hour when setting up a feed schedule. After selecting the hour on the thumb wheel, the actual scheduled time is displayed 1 hour behind. The WiFi settings are not retained after a power loss, even when on battery backup. Updating WiFi was not cooperating. I had to power down my modem and router. Powered down feeder. I had to set up a new feeder in the app and finally the feeder discovered my router address. These steps are quite annoying, especially for a small power interruption. This defeats the purpose of feeding your pets when you are not home.

This is exactly what I needed I originally bought it for when I was going to be away and that worked out awesome I didt have to worry about my cats at all even tough I had someone coming to feed and check on them this gave me the comfort to k ow I could feed them anytime of the day I set up a schedule with the time and the amount and it works out great. One of my cats pretty smart did figure out how to hit the trigger to get food to drop it’s pretty funny

Oreo is a 135lb cane Corso…We would let him out he would drag us around on his leash…We bought the pet smart collar and now we don’t have to have a leash on him he stays right next to us….I love the collar…We only had to use it 4-6 times on him…Now we put the collar on him take him out and he doesn’t leave the yard…Everyone told me it was a waste of money….It is the best investment we have made…I will definitely refer the collar to friends and family…

I have 3 dogs and have a set of e-collars for 2 of them but need this one for the 3rd. When walking 2 or 3 dogs it’s not super convenient to hold a phone, hold leashes and deal with dogs so this would be so much more convenient if this app was made for Apple Watch. That’s why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 4 or 5. Overall I like that I don’t have to keep Track of a collar and control.

My rating is for the app, not the product. The product reliably dispenses food at the displayed schedule. Updating the schedule on the app is infuriating. I have been trying for half an hour to update the schedule to keep the feedings on the same 24 hour cycle across the daylight/standard time change (which really the app should do anyway). It will not accept you the new time. It either reverts to the old time, or changes it to an hour later when I am trying to change to an hour earlier. Twice a year i have to go through this exercise in futility.

Inside, our dog stops unwanted behavior with the “call” button which is much better than her excited jumping. She goes out a night wearing the collar with my husband without issues. He says with it being dark, there isn’t as much to attract her attention. She does well and she doesn’t chase the bunnies that she does see. During the day, she has too much fun barking at bunnies, cats, & squirrels to not be tied.

I’ve been using my pet safe smart collar for a few years and we love the collar but the app is absolutely horrible, the old app was great, until they decided to transfer over to this one. For the last year I’ve tried to connect the collar and right as I’m finishing the set up process it tells me that it failed because it can’t connect to the server. So when I try to continue using the old app, I can’t use the controls for more than 10 seconds before a pop up tells me to switch to the new app, and I have to restart it. Just go with a different brand of collar because it’s not worth the frustration 👎🏻

The app is one of the most glitchy I’ve ever seen. HEALTH DANGER TO PETS. Should not be on the Apple Store. … Issues experienced in first 24 hrs: 1.) Double feeding from a November review is STILL an issue 4 months later. 2.) Slow feeding DOES NOT WORK. Instead, dispenses one fast meal THEN a second slow meal … double the portions. 3.) Settings toggles don’t save or undo themselves if done in the wrong order. We have a kitten with a psychogenic food disorder; she gorges too fast and then vomits. Thought this would be a perfect solution. She ate twice her portion this morning thanks to the above glitch and already committed. Hardware is dangerous toxic garbage with the app in the current state.

I previously connected a feeder and a litter box to the app and it worked fine for a while but over the past few months, the app keeps giving an error that something went wrong, connection to the server is unavailable, try again later. It never works later, and I can’t even add as a new feeder and litter box. I’ve tried signing out and back in my account - half the time it says it doesn’t recognize the account. Now they’ve stopped supporting the old feeder app so I’m stuck on the old scheduler for feeding without any notices. This is feeling like a giant waste of money to pay extra for the smart items.

The old app worked better, sent proper notifications, didn’t have connectivity issues, and had better portion options. I am very disappointed with the changes in this app “upgrade” because it is a downgrade in my opinion. I am an ICU nurse that lives alone and gone for more than 12 hours at a time and need to be able to feed my cats but this is so unreliable now. Thinking about purchasing another feeder to be quite honest, but I’d hate to have to spend the money when the previous app was working so well! If all of these issues were fixed, I would give this 5 stars.

I downloaded this version a week ago because it indicated that my current version would not be supported after a while. My feeder will not stay online even though I’ve done the process over and over. I again downloaded the old version went through the connection process and the feeder does stay online with no problem. I attempted to reach out to support when you click on the link you get page not found, any link that says email support but when you click on the link to email it doesn’t give you the email address to send to. Very disappointing support

My PetSafe feeder has been working reliably for over 1 year. Feeding amount has been accurate. My only “complaint” (or maybe puzzle is more accurate) has been that when the “low food level” warning comes on, it doesn’t go off for a long time after the feeder has been refilled (hours or even a day passes before the warning goes off).

I love this app and this feeder. I actually have two of these feeders connected to the same app. The app is super easy to navigate and I can easily set scheduled feeding times in addition to the ability to manually feed as needed. I love the feature that allows you to check that the food dispensed and I love that you can give the individual feeders profiles. It’s a great app and great company!

Super simple app! It’s been over 3 years since we bought the petsafe automatic feeder and we’ve never had any issues. It feeds our dog twice a day and everyday we’ve made sure it goes off and feeds the correct amount. The battery backup works great when the power goes out. It has never failed and it’s still working today! I absolutely love it!

I can’t update my WiFi and the feeder is useless. When you need to update your WiFi, the app tells you to hold a paperclip in your feeder to reset the WiFi and then it will walk you through the steps to connect to a new network after you hit “Continue.” Well, you can’t hit “Continue” in the app AND now you’ve reset your feeder so you definitely don’t have any wifi now. If your feeder is connected, do NOT update your WiFi, count your lucky stars that you’re not stuck with an expensive, electric bowl with a flashing yellow light that you have to fill at least twice a day.

I’ve spent several weeks troubleshooting this between the manufacturer and my ISP. Petsafe support was unable to provide even basic troubleshooting assistance and tried to blame my network. Ultimately they sent me a second feeder that ALSO won’t connect to my 2.4ghz (non-mesh) network. The app doesn’t connect to your feeder without this connectivity, so now I have two very expensive dog bowls with no automatic dispenser capability. My ISP says they’ve troubleshot all kinds of feeders and printers like this and never seen one so difficult to set up. Skip the app and anything from this company whatsoever.

We’ve had this feeder for several years. It’s always worked great, with the exception of a few months after an update. We originally bought it for when we go out of town on the weekends, so we didn’t have to worry about a pet sitter. We do enjoy the convenience it offers ensuring our dogs meal is always at the same times every day.

Good durability, size, food protection, and conveyer system. Program, app, and button interface are close to perfect, but one minor issue is the following: it can feed on a schedule and on command without disrupting the schedule via the unit itself (button) or the app, but I can’t rush a feed up - that would be a super helpful option. Great though!

Pleeeease fix the app. Great hardware product but the unreliable app messes it up. It creates glitches resulting in extra food or no food and the last version update removed the ability to feed at any chosen schedule (it’s now restricted to 15 minute time intervals). You’d have a fantastic product if your software can get it’s act together. Right now the lsoftware creates ambiguity and unreliability and no one wants their cat to be over or underfed especially when they are out of town. The app should be the easy part but it’s ruining your product!!

Poor developers. The app and PetSafe feeder are missing features that even the non-smart feeders have (skipping a scheduled meal without changing the schedule, manually advancing a scheduled meal without changing the schedule, pausing feeding for a period of time without turning off the schedule, setting the quantity of food for a scheduled time to zero or otherwise turning off individual times without deleting them from the schedule. The developers don’t listen to feedback, which is the most frustrating part. I could go on about the ridiculously sloppy UI, but that’s plenty for now.

The slow feeder is the bomb🔥🔥. I purchase a less expensive one prior to this one. It lasted about 6 months. I went through about 3 because it did what I wanted . Even though it didn’t last. I was hesitant to buy one that had to be connected to wi-fi. I purchased this one it has gone over and beyond my expectations. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Both the app and the feeder work great The app keeps in contact with the feeder all the time without intervention ( unless there is a power and or a network failure ). We are both notified every time our cats are feed at the scheduled times and if the feeder is low on food. You can also manually/remotely tell the feeder to perform a feeding. Well worth the money.

We have had such great luck with this collar system! We have open properties so there’s barely any tree coverage so the collar works great Took some time to get it started and figured out that works great for our livestock dog. We have 10 acres and it covers the whole property! Will definitely be buying more collars for our other dogs

Works seemlessly. Reliable. We use at our cottage to feed feral kitties in our covered porch. I Use a plastic tub with hole cut in bottom to put feeder in (so foods falls through hole) with weights on tub lid to keep raccoons out. Works fantastic. Use with blink camera so I can see when to give extra food. Have had for a year and zero issues.

I have the PetSafe Smart Feeder for my cat. I previously had the Smart Feed app which worked fine. PetSafe discontinued that app (I assume to streamline), but now this app is causing nonstop issues. I don’t get consistent notifications that my cat was fed, I can’t feed on demand because it constantly says server unavailable, and I can’t change WiFi because again, server unavailable. I got the feeder because I travel a lot and want to make sure my cat is fed when I’m not home, so the new app causing this to not happen is extremely stressful. Really disappointed.

I am not real sure yet how everything works but the end result so far has been great. One thing I can’t seem to figure out is how to change the time to put a new liner in. I thought it was set for 30 days but the notification was 20 days. Chester used it from the very first day and he likes it too.

I had the Smartfeed app for my smartfeeder, and that was fine. This new app pretty much functions exactly the same and supposedly encompasses many other PetSafe device management on top of just generally looking better :) Switched over from the old app about 4 days ago I think, and so far, I'm definitely happy with it and have no complaints!

Bottom line is it works well for our 2 house cats. We’ve had it in use for 1 year now and no issues. I use the APP to manage the feeder and it’s easy. Connecting it to WIFI is smooth as are all the functions. Notifications are accurate. I recommend the product.

The version I had before I was more or less made to update worked flawlessly. It connected quickly and never failed. Then they kept putting a warning that it was outdated. So I had to get this version. 3/4 of the time it disconnects. Then I cannot get it to reconnect without getting out of the app. My phone did not auto lock with the old version. This version auto locks. I would return this collar if I could. Please let me use the last version or I will just find another collar that is not associated with this developer.

I have had the same Petsafe feeder for the past five years. It has worked as expected. I set the schedules for feeding and the scheduled times work correctly I recently was informed that I had to upgrade to the latest app. I was extremely hesitant to do this after reading all of the negative reviews. One day i was unable to use the old app, so I decided to upgrade to the latest one To my happy surprise the new upgraded app is work just the same as the old one. I am providing this review for anyone that is planning to upgrade but might be hesitant Hope this helps you out

This app has some bugs that don’t inspire confidence that your pet is being fed the appropriate amounts. Menus get reset if you don’t hit “done”. Timezones are unclear in the app making checking on your pets’ food while travelling is a pain and stressful. Recently, the scheduled meals have even disappeared from the app making it so that I can’t edit or remove existing meals. The app lets me add new meals though. The app needs to be more stable so that I can be sure my pet’s being fed correctly.
