Update: developers added the online manuals, so now the app is much more useful. Increased rating as a result! Understand the need to consolidate various apps into one. But consolidating by discontinuing certain apps without porting the content is useless. I don’t need to see my car status in an app, but being able to look up a certain feature and how to use it - especially those not used often, e.g. how to program your garage door opener - was very convenient with the old “Good to Know” app. Which is now gone. Guess going back to the paper manuals - driving a car in 2023 with instructions like in the 80’s. Awesome!
New post- I have to keep deleting my app and now keep reinstalling it to connect to my first vehicle /2018 Cayenne- my Macan works fine. After just about 10 minutes my Cayenne will not go into standby mode and just spins and never connects until I delete the app and reinstall-come on Porsche! So frustrating- started since the newest update. I did bring my cayenne into the shop at the same time- did they do something to PCM maybe? How can I get this working again? I have a 2018 Cayenne and a 2018 Turbo Macan. For months now, ever since I got the new 5G sims upgraded in each Porsche, every Friday my Macan (I’ve done much trouble shooting) will stop connecting to the “My Porsche App” and will NOT ever connect again until I cycle the PCM phone on and off. This makes my options that I paid for worthless unless I do this cycling of my PCM phone every time it stops working, which is once a week. Why can’t Porsche fix my problem?? Not expected from Porsche and not sure I’d ever purchase another due to such an issue. Steve
Update: Porsche fixed remote park assist on Taycan
Updated review as of v11.0.6: the latest version has fixed the remote park assist feature. The app is improving and I’m glad Porsche was able to fix this issue. The main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the remote lock/unlock and remote heat/cool commands take 30-60 seconds to reach the vehicle. That feels like an eternity. Hopefully Porsche can figure out how to improve that response time. Porsche, you’re moving in the right direction. Original review: The app responds faster overall but v10 completely broke remote park assist on the Taycan. Come on Porsche, that is a major feature that has been broken for too long. Please fix it and do better with QA in the future.
I want to be able to initiate Precool/heat in my 2024 eHybrid Cayenne from the Home Screen Widget. This would reduce the amount of time and button presses required from 3+ to 1 for a very common action. Also, would hopefully reduce the amount of wall clock time required to go through the workflow. Other than that I love the app. I only wish that the 2024 eHybrid could run precool/heat for longer periods of time, so that it could be used to keep kenneled dogs comfortable.
As per Porsche website “If you charge your Porsche Taycan with direct current (DC), you must monitor the charging progress yourself via the display in the central display and/or via the My Porsche app on your mobile phone and end the charging process yourself before or when a charge of 80% is reached. A charging function via the central display is not available”. It would be great if My Porsche App could send notification when battery reaches X percentage. This is especially useful when charging with DC, else users need to be refreshing app continiously and monitor battery percentage manually to make sure it does not go above 80% which does not make sense
Happy to see Porsche has a dedicated digital team working on this. The improvements to the UI are noticeable. Thank you! Some adios feedback: The container styles are not consistent across the app. The home screen shows rounded containers whereas the map view containers don’t have a border-radius. The home screen also shows a static image of the vehicle (in my case the Taycan). Would it be possible to show a rotatable 360 degree 3D model of our vehicles? This additional layer of interaction would make the app feel more fun and modern. Additionally Porsches have beautiful design, and the online configurators for the Taycan and EV Macan already offer a 3D mode. Apple supports embedding 3D models in app, so it would be cool to have that. You can also make it more fun by introducing an AR screenshot mode and letting us open/close the doors on the 3D model and play with the lights. Some very unique opportunities to elevate the interaction design and level of craft.
Replaced my 2010 Cayenne GTS (with 246,000 miles) with a new 2023 Cayenne GTS Coupe with PDCC; Rear Wheel Steering; GTS Light-weight Sport Package and Sport Chrono. The 4.0litre V8 Twin-turbo is superb in both performance and drivability. GTS interior ergonomics, usability, fit and finish are outstanding. Great daily driving experience at a 911 Carrera level. Thanks Porsche for an outstanding vehicle that meets and exceeds my expectations daily. Regards, Roger K.
The vehicle status lags behind the real state of the car; this creates concern when checking car is locked/secure. Sometimes takes 2/3 refresh cycles to get correct status. With this version, remote park has stopped working on my Taycan and Cayenne; both for remote park and remote exit. Sometimes it says not available, other times it will fail to connect - even though stood nest to vehicle with key and phone in hand. First attempts it fails immediately; 2 or 3 attempt it’ll just hang waiting for the connection. Remote lock and light flash work - so the car is definitely communicating.
I ordered a 2024 Taycan 4S. I am able to see the car in the app, but when I click on the button to check its current status, I receive an error message that states, oops, something went wrong, please try again later. I’ve called Porsche CS twice and have sent them 3 emails. They have no update for me and don’t respond to emails even though they committed to reporting back to me within 7 business days. My car is on a boat on its way to the dealer. I have no way to track it in the app, and I assume I will not be able to use the app with the car after I take delivery. This app is useless to me. I expect better customer support from Porsche.
Porsche dealerships push owners to get this app. Use it to track your vehicle they say. Then tell owners about how someone’s vehicle was stolen and this app saved the day before the vehicle was shipped overseas. Fear is a great tool… So we jump through so many hoops to try and get this app working. Sign up for this Porsche account, the. Sign up for a different account, they consent to tracking and data collection, so on and so forth. After all of that is done then head back to the dealership so they can unlock and enable the vehicle to use these functions. The app finally works, but only until it doesn’t. I’m not sure if it was an update that killed the connection or something else. Tried the typical log out then log in routine but it didn’t work. Ensure the vehicle doesn’t have any firmware updates. It doesn’t. All the app does now is shows the “connecting” animation endlessly. Hopefully someday this app will work again.
Nice app, well laid out and easy to use. That being said, it’s basically a dud. Seldom actually communicates with the car, which is it’s whole basis for existing. “Server not available” or other messages of non functionality are more frequent than actual connection. Turn on heat or A/C remotely? Forget it, never been able to accomplish that. Suggest you actually pick a communications infrastructure partner that works. How about allowing customers to ise the LTE carrier that works in their location? AT&T is useless in Seattle area.
This is one of the rare misses from Porsche. I’m not sure if it’s the app, or the vehicle, but the data is never timely or accurate. It will sometimes show data accurate as of at most 5 minutes after I park, but never update after that. So, I cannot see if the battery is charging, or be able to lock/unlock the door, warm/cool the interior, or see any other stat such as fuel level. Porsche needs to accept that they have been outmatched by almost every other vehicle app. (They vehicles are still top of class however, absolutely zero mechanical complaints).
Porsche is sooo far from a software company as one can be
I have continuous problems with the Porsche software, the app, software in the car, functions run by the software etc, including getting appropriate help with it at the Porsche dealer. Sending instructions to the car, e.g. the charging profile, hooking up to the charge America chargers using the Porsche app, changing the charge profiles in the car, setting up the car and the app with the help of the dealer, you name it, it works sometimes but more often not. It is soo frustrating. The car works well, but the software is simply too “soft”.
Like the app and use it frequently. So nice to be able to check top/windows/locking status, fuel and oil levels, tire pressure, and miscellaneous trip info from my iPhone whenever I want. And to lock/unlock from my Watch when needed. The only issue is that the Watch app is squirrelly in that on one Watch it correctly uses miles, but on an identical Watch paired to the same iPhone it use kilometers.
This app is getting worse each time with the login
Every single time the Porsche app is updated, my login credentials are invalidated and I need to reenter them one more time. This is totally ridiculous and really painful. Apart from this recurring issue, the functionalities are pretty basic for my 992. I would expect more actually. Like being able to remotely start the AC and set a temperature or even do it at a specific time.
So I can now control some vehicle functions through the Porsche CarPlay app. Kind of cool, hopefully we’ll see more improvements. It feels half baked. One thing that seems to have broken is the stereo settings on my 992. Balance keeps being pushed all the way to the left. I set it to center in the “Bose” settings, go to CarPlay, back to Bose settings, and the balance is set all the way left. It should remain centered.
So I'm writing this review because I can't find a resolution for this issue. Today I went to an appointment and I was in there for about 1.5 hours I came back out and my tailgate was open with no notification to my phone. Luckily I live in a good city and was in a safe area with low crime. Am I missing something because I have notifications turned on, but my daughter Mercedes lets her know 3 minutes after she gets out of the car and it's still unlocked after that time?
It is a great app but GPS location doesn’t always work. I had the expectation it was going to be similar to an Apple AirPod that will provide real time location, for example when you ship it or something similar but not. Also, I trusted the app to close and open the car once and it failed for 45min to open the car remotely and it was a terrible experience.
The car is fantastic, but the app is far behind other companies for example, Tesla. Doing things quickly and on the fly the app is very complex and not intuitive. It’s not always correct in locating charging stations. Which could be a disaster. My particular app is not integrated very well with electrify America poor and electrify America. It adds another 20 to 40 minutes to any trip over 200 miles. Suggestion hire some developers from Tesla
The experience of purchasing my dream car has exceeded my expectations!
This is my first Porsche 911. It has been well worth the wait and I am super excited to see my dream car being built. I can’t wait for it arrive!!!!! Well done Porsche!!!
Porsche has always been behind the near-peer brands in terms of telematics. This replacement for the previous replacement for the mishmash of other Porsche apps is closer to expectations. Why did we drop Apple Watch support from the previous product? I’d like to be able to do basic status checks, get notifications, and lock/unlock the car from my watch.
My biggest issue is that it does not allow a user to set the maximum charge on our hybrid. We don’t want to charge the car to 100% every time so it would be nice to set a limit, like 88%, so that we don’t have to manually, wait until it gets there and unplug it.
I guess this app is only partially compatible with a 2021 Tycan4s(?). IF it connects at all, it takes multiple attempts and several minutes (3 to 5). And yes, that is several 3 to 5 minute attempts. Usually just fails. Also, I guess 2021 is too old for Porsche to support this app with CarPlay. Yes, the car has CarPlay but this app won’t work with it as it throws an error saying something like “your car is not supported”. Car reports it is fully updated and app is latest.
It would be nice if they showed you a few actual pictures of your custom car as it goes through the assembly line. Especially one at the end before they ship & transport.
Very frustrating to use. Not intuitive. Not crystal clear. Not consumer friendly as we would expect from Porsche. Simple things like setting up charging to 85% is more complicated than needed. Stopping charging from the app does not work. And other frustrations and non intuitive things
As of the most recent update, users who had the app installed on their phone prior are unable to connect to their vehicle for remote parking. No amount of reinstalling or restarts will help. The only solution is to totally wipe your phone, not restore from a backup, start from scratch, then install the app. That’s not acceptable and it needs to be fixed as this update has rendered a $2000 option useless.
I want to love this app but it constantly tells me my door is open, the boot is open and that the car itself is unlocked when it is not. Not sure if it’s a software problem. Would be nice to be able to turn on the air before entering the car when it’s hot out.
Love the Porsche hardware (car) but the software is straight boomer compared to Tesla and even recent Rivian updates. Waiting for the app to be able to at the least control pre heating and cooling in less than 3 minutes. it takes forever to simply connect to the car and submit commands.
I’ve transported my two Porsches across country. I’m frustrated with the My Porsche app. My cars show that they are still where the transporter loaded them(The street in front of my house). What’s the point of the subscription if it doesn’t work when you most need it? This is a very poor experience. So what it can tell me how much gas I have in the tank.
Takes forever to connect and send commands. That little swirl just keeps turning never finishes. If you switch app during that, only god knows what’s the result. Car Location doesn’t work anymore when car’s running. Trip history shows ev efficiency is 300+ miles per kWh. That’s 100x normal evs. God knows what that number means.
I recently got a 911 C4S 992.1 and the extended CarPlay function in the app stopped working. The app icon doesn’t even show up in CarPlay, and the options to rearrange the screens is gone. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling several times. Seems like it could be a new issue with iOS 18. Hopefully a new update comes out soon so I can update my review
Love everything about my car except the PCM connect and app, what an actual disaster. Porsche seriously needs to either go all in and invest in an actual usable interface and app or just throw the entire thing away because this is ridiculous for this caliber of vehicle I expect at the very least for the system to be usable jesus christ guys get it the frick together its literally embarrassing
I am excited about my purchase of my 2nd Porsche purchase. The app indicated I was at the “Change freeze point” then reverted back one step to initial purchase order date only. So timeline change was confusing. My salesperson stated I likely will take delivery of my beautiful 911 prior to the end of 2024. Not a big issue overall.
When the car is near or under any structure it will not connect. Product interactive functions are way too limited. Take a lesson from the Japanese manufacturers. Lots of function and always works for far less $.
The app is horrible. Called Porsche tech help which worked well however changes have yet to take place on the app. Had to sit in the vehicle to clear out maintenance alerts on the app that have been already completed at the dealership. Syncing maintenance that has been performed to the iPhone seems nonexistence. Pretty much a usless app unless you want to get PR stuff from Porsche
Mostly good, but annoyingly switches to private mode at random moments so I can no longer see location. It may be off private for a while when I'm not using car, and then it suddenly switches to private. Annoying.
I have been extremely disappointed with the technology that Porsche provides when you buy the car. The app only works 50% of the time and the dealership takes no responsibility. A very frustrating experience.
It is difficult to distinguish when the car is being charged and when it’s not being charged, at home. There should be different colors for the events.
This app is awful. Rarely connects successfully to my 2023 Macan. Always loading but never updating the status of the vehicle. Vehicle tracker is always showing the incorrect address. Unable to lock and unlock consistently. On the off chance it works, it takes 8 minutes +. Unbelievably disappointing app and subpar experience from Porsche.
Several weeks later and it still continues to show my right rear window down although I’ve checked the window and cycled both the app and window numerous times.
The app won’t stay logged in after last update. I have to sign in multiple times daily. It’s pretty annoying and frustrating. Please get this fixed asap! Thank you
I’ve been planning a roadtrip for the last few weeks and after the latest app update the rendering of a route appears to be MUCH faster. Keep these features coming.
All I did was download the app and it won’t load anything I just want to add my cayenne and the home page won’t load after reading the reviews it’s sad that Porsche has ignored their customers complaints I never had an issue with my Toyota app pretty disappointed when all I ever wanted was a Porsche and the app doesn’t even work
I have a '21 Cayenne and my renewal is coming up for my connect sub. I noticed that the app is just spinning and won't connect to my car even though the data function seems to be fine in my vehicle. I would like a refund for the service since it's been down for a few days now.
Been trying to track my Taycan for the last few weeks, but it’s either a step or so behind, or most recently, gives me an error and asks to try again. I know I can load the site in my browser, but why have this in the app if it doesn’t work
I have owned my Taycan 4S for over a month and downloaded the “My Taycan “ app as soon as I purchased it. I am still waiting for Porsche to finish reviewing all the documentation that was required before being allowed to benefit from the app. Very frustrating.
The software within the smart services and the IOS application is hit or miss at best. My 2023 Panamera was in the shop for three weeks trying to track an issue. The dealer has no ability to address any issues and the customer is left to wait as Porsche and their third part vendor try and work the issue.
