myColorado™

Something has changed since I put my ID in my wallet on my Colorado. I tried to help my wife do hers and it has failed three times. I quit. I am a photographer and I know how to get a good image. The ones we submitted were far better than the one I used, but it fails every time. One problem is that the app does not allow you to use the zoom, giving a distorted face, then the facial recognition software can’t / won’t find a match. How do you make this work? Another thing is that it cuts off the voice memo, so I have to type this by hand. I couldn’t find a zero star setting to rate this app. I think it was better two months ago, then the IT people must have “fixed” it.

The 5.2 update broke the app on IPhone. When you launch the app and Face ID tries to log you in, it starts a loop where the app logs you in for a split second and then reverts to the app log in screen prompting Face ID to activate again. This happens seven or eight times and then the log in screen is displayed. Ostensibly you could then sign in manually but that is if you happen to remember your user name and password which I do not because I used the strong password feature when I originally set up my account on this app which was not saved in my phones password list due to the app blocking this feature. So until there is a fix for this issue this app has been rendered useless. Clearly the people who coded the new Colorado unemployment website were also tapped to make this app inoperable as well. Why do government entities still not understand how to make intuitive and functional net mediums? The answer is a lack of beta testing and a lowest bid gets the contract mentality. Do better, we are not in the early days of the internet anymore, these types of coding errors are a direct result of incompetent creators fostered by governmental entities who have neither the knowledge nor the technical aptitude required to make informed decisions about technological viability as it relates to important government operations.

I think the MyColorado app is a good app if you need important paperwork with you and you don't want to have the hastle of carrying it around with you, however, when it came down to upgrading my permit to a license, i had the hardest time with it. I had a friend that did the exact same thing as I did and it worked for her but I don't know why it's not working for me. it's been almost two weeks that i've dealt with this issue. Contacting them however wasn't very helpful because they would continue to give me the same solutions that I had previously stated don't work. One person in particular has been a little more helpful in trying to get things sorted out but this has taken so long and it's still not working. Plus the response times to my emails/replies to them are sometimes a day or two which is really inconvenient because I want this sorted out as soon as possible. Overall, the app is pretty good but customer support for me has been a pain.

This app uses a facial recognition identity verification system that requires you to take a selfie for facial ID purposes that must match up with the photo on your drivers license before you can access any records. Unfortunately, at least in my case, the system failed to recognize and match up my facial features with my drivers license, and as a result I cannot access any of my documents. I tried about 18 times with different lighting and different facial expressions to get the verification system to work, all with no success. There is no alternate means of identity verification provided, so if you run into the same issue you are out of luck and the app is worthless. Customer support for this app is essentially nonexistent — they are far too busy to answer any calls, and that is probably because this app is highly imperfect and they are very busy dealing with people who can’t get it to work. I suggest you don’t get too excited about this app and try and get your information through the CIIS public portal.

Literally the only time I’ve ever tried using the app for my ID and the reset password function just straight up doesn’t work. Consistently breaks on at least 1 of the steps with the least useful error message ever created- “Something went wrong. Please try again.” How helpful…. Not only that, but they seem to have override the default popups for text somehow and if you click any of the options the app immediately crashes no matter what you’re doing. Lastly, for some reason they decided you could “use” the app without signing in or creating an account, only your prompted to sign in/create an account if you try and do anything in the app. What is the point? Simply not worth using in its current state. Edit in response to dev response: The funny part is I DID try and contact through the proper channels first, but it was all entirely unhelpful and the bug submission just didn’t work after I spent the time to try to submit the bug. Not giving any more of my time to do your jobs for you.

Just like most things put out by the State this app doesn’t work. Unloaded, loaded for 2 days now, can’t count how many times. Trying to set up an account, new phone follow instructions to. T. Just keeps saying - move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close move left…. Move right… too far… too close - &&&&& on & on. For two freaking days. Also had 6 other people try because I thought maybe I was doing it wrong. Nope - my daughter tried for 27 minutes. - yes we timed it.

i think this may be more of my phone issue, so i hate to leave such a low rating. i have the iPhone 12 Pro (3 cameras) and the app defaults to using the main camera (standard wide angle). most apps do, the main is usually the best to use overall, so i get it. only problem is the main camera has a limited focus distance, and won’t focus on the barcode of my card because it has to be so close to the camera in order to fit into the rectangle graphic. i’ve tried this is the regular camera app too (same distance from lens) so i know it’s at least an Apple issue. it would work if the app allowed me to use the telephoto lens but it doesn’t do unfortunately this app is useless for me at the moment. maybe if the rectangle graphic could be made smaller for certain phone models? that way i can have my barcode far enough for the camera to focus on it while still fitting the rectangle graphic fully.

For most purposes, this app has perfected triggering the fatal Apple spinning wheel which indicates nothing works. And, if you try to set up your Covid vaccine information, after you have scanned your Driver’s License, you will never be able to pull up your vaccine information if that license data doesn’t match what was entered originally into the state’s vaccine database, which it likely won’t. You see, the inquiry by this app will not allow you to edit the data for name etc. to try to search the vaccine data for your information, rendering this function completely worthless. Didn’t anyone working for the Developer even think to test their product to see if it is properly functional? Additionally, this app is painfully slow to respond using the latest IOS. How could this be rated so highly when it barely functions at all? Perhaps the State instructed employees to falsely give it five stars?

I had my electronic vaccination card already on myColorado app with the info of my first 2 vaccinations. Then I decided to upgrade my iPhone and when I was checking if my booster vaccination info was added on the app, myColorado app deleted/removed my electronic vaccination card completely after upgrading my iPhone. I tried everything I could to retrieve it and even filled out an electronic form to investigate the issue. I also chatted with customer service and they told me, out of nowhere, that suddenly there was a name mismatch. Apparently they fixed the name mismatch issue and told me that in 48 hours, I’d be able to see my vaccination card again. After 3 days, I’m still waiting for my vaccination card to be posted electronically with my 3 vaccinations. Is management looking into this? I’m going to travel soon and I need my electronic vaccination card on the app ASAP.

I was enjoying the app and how well developed it was. I bragged about it to my friends from other states. All of a sudden, it started to say my identity needed to be verified. After the process of verification, it would take me to the app again and keep asking for verification again. I have logged out, deleted and reinstalled the app and the problem continues. I just talked to a neighbor who said she is having the same problem. An app is going if maintenance is continuous and updates are frequent. Otherwise, the become a problem.

I love the my Colorado app. It’s useful if you forget your wallet at the house because it stores car registration, and drivers license or state issues ID card. I have a question tho for CO State. Is there a way that you can implement the way to store Handicap Placard Registration cards? I am disabled and I have handicap plates on one of my cars so it’s shows on the back of that registration in the app but I think that it would be a fantastic idea to allow us to keep our handicap placard registration cards in the app. Placards are available for 3 years at a time for permanently disabled people like my self but and it’s hard to keep that sheet of paper in my wallet every day for three years with out it getting trashed. Just wondering if that something that is possible. Daniel

This app appeared to be something useful, especially the vaccine card addition. I was excited to use it. I linked my vaccination info and checked a few times to make sure that it worked, even in airplane mode. All is well. Next time I use the app is when I have to present my information to a venue. Open the app, am logged out. Ok… inconvenient having to step out of line to log back in. What’s the point of Touch ID if the app logs you out anyways. Once I was logged back in I discover that the app no longer has my vaccination information and won’t let me access it again. The whole purpose of this app is that you always have your id and vaccine card when you have your phone with you… really disappointed

It’s great that the state provides this app. Fantastic to have vaccination records from the state in the smart health card format, rather than trying to aggregate from different providers. However, there doesn’t seem to be any way to add the smart card to Apple wallet yet. The share sheet that pops up when attempting to download the smart health card does not appear to be entirely standard, and its last choice, “Print“, overlaps the slide up bar at the bottom of the screen. Also, I am visually impaired and use dark mode, because I cannot read dark text on a white background. It would be nice if the app would respect the choice and provide a dark mode friendly design option.

Everything worked well until I tried to take a picture of the front and back of my DL. Each time I’ve tried to take a picture of the back of my license and submit it, it just takes me to a blank white screen. I don’t know if it’s loading or processing because there’s nothing to indicate that so I’m just left staring at a blank white screen that I can’t move past. I have to go back, resign in, retake the picture of the front, and retake the picture of the back, and then I’m back at the white screen where I was before. Either there’s a glitch or I need to be more patient while the app processes my photo—but if that’s the case, a loading indicator or spinning dial of some sort would be helpful. :)

I am frustrated that I have taken (and re-taken) my driver license and photo several times without success. When I add the picture it may or may not work. If it doesn’t work and I select the back arrow I am returned to the login screen and all prior info/photos are lost. Can’t Colorado provide the digital image of my license? I can see value here if it works better. Colorado provides a digital image of my Medical Marijuana Card so I would think a drivers license would also be available. I’m keeping the app and waiting for improvements. Great idea, Colorado.

A lot of fishing,etc takes place e we when you have no cell connection tendering the app useless! Especially when asked for a fishing license by an ambitious wildlife officer! Received a response from developer that app needs to be logged in every so often, or you have to log in again, maybe you could add a property that makes the app offline all the time, this might help people who only have Wi-Fi access occasionally, and no cell service, thinking of homeless, etc, extended backpacking trips, etc

No matter what every other month my app erases my login and password and I’m once again unable to show anything, last time I used the app was to show my vaccine status was three weeks ago and now everything is blank again. And now it will not scan my drivers license to help me get back in the account. I tried a maybe back door by removing the app restarting my iPhone and reinstalled the app and still doesn’t scan my drivers license.

This app glitches a lot, resets you entire account at times and when it updates it’ll make you create a new account that won’t work. The ping security is a worthless addition that doesn’t relay you to the main interface after you verify the device. This app should be incredibly simple, stop adding unrelated document sections people don’t want and will not use. It’s an ID app, keep it simple.

I pull this application out once a month or so, only to find that face ID has failed, and that I have to log it in again. And then the login fails because the password is not recognized, so I have to do a PW reset. I use a password storage system, so I am definitely using the right password. There is no information on this application about how often the PW must be changed. I assume that someone put a stupid rule in there that requires a change every month. Whatever the case, this is the most unusable app I have on my phone, and my ID is almost never available on the phone when I actually need it.

Although I originally posted a review about authentication bugs I experienced with early versions, those issues seem to be fixed. The app now functions smoothly for me and does a good job of pulling updated information automatically, such as when I have gotten another vaccine dose. I don’t have experience with offering it in place of a physical ID, and I wish the app offered more specific information about that, as my teenager is prone to forgetting their physical license and blithely saying, “It’s ok; I’ve got the app.”

So you really hurt me today. It’s practically impossible to get a replacement license now that do offices are so limited. They just want you to renew online rather than just sell you a new copy. But I had to save up for an eye appointment first. Same nothing changed but it cost me a hundred dollars just so I can say to you I checked. When you could have just checked. So anyway no license yet and now the app I have really needed doesn’t work at all. New software update on apple maybe. Just to let people know. Don’t ever trust state apps to to a point you count on them. And in this case since all it does is provide very important docs. Make other plans. Colorado doesn’t give a you know what.

After going through the full app setup, loading all my insurance cards, fishing license, Covid vaccine card, etc. - it will often fail to load my ID when I attempt to retrieve it. It lost/disassociated my Vax card on the second login after linking it, and now it fails to find it and throws an error, even though I searched and linked it through the app the first time successfully. Today it logged me out and when I loges back in it shows my wallet but then when I try to access anything it routes me back to the login page. Honestly this app is more a PITA than it’s worth. Great idea, poor implementation.

It could be so great…. If you didn’t have to change your password every time you used it. This is not an every day app, but when you need it, prepare to update it, go through the forgot my password steps, log back in… what the heck is the point? Simple review: if you’re in your 20’s and need to show your ID all the time, this app is great. If you only use it once in a while, like pretty much everyone, prepare to stand there like an idiot for 15 minutes either updating the app or trying to log in every single time you have to use it, and passwords and logins aren’t stored. Great security, I guess, not really any more useful than paper though.

I updated to the latest version and, as warned, the face id on my iPhone no longer worked for sign in. Because I’m old and lazy, i never wrote down my user id. The app doesn’t give me a way get my user id or update my password without a user id. I called user support three times and was on hold for more than 45 minutes each time before I gave up. I sent at least two messages to the support system and, other than an automated “We received your email” I haven’t heard anything back from them. (They really deserve a 0 star rating)

Try to “load” vehicle registration but it does nothing after entering all fields - no error messages, just stays on the same screen and does nothing. Tried to load fishing license but comes back with error stating I need to contact CPW. Frustrating and near worthless as states outside won’t accept the digital drivers license. Deleted my account and the app. The “Developer Response” is false. These issues where happing days before the global IT outage occur. How can they even attempt to blame this on the outage?! I doubt any actual research was performed on the issue. The State should be ashamed of this product and the team working on it. A waste of taxpayer funds.

I’ve had the app since its inception and was excited to have the ability to carry my important information (ID, insurance, car title) on my phone but because the app is SO hinky I’ve had to delete the app 4 times over time in order to re-register so it will work. For lack of a better term it continually kicks me off and does not recognize my log in. I just deleted the app AGAIN to re-register but the camera function cannot scan the back of my license. How is this the only app approved by the State?! Surely there are developers out there that can make this concept work consistently!! Bottom line: when it works, it’s great but it OFTEN does not work.

I’ll login to the app frequently and no problems. Seemingly out of nowhere, I’ll be prompted to log in again and it rejects my password (which is in a password manager, so I’m not mistyping or forgetting), eventually leading me to reset. I have to go through at least twice because every. single. time. I get “A problem has occurred. Please try again.” Doesn’t tell me what I did wrong but I just have to go through the process again. Once you’re in the app, it’s very handy but the login process is random and inconsistent in terms of UX.

When this app works it’s great and it is really useful, the problem is that it has a lot of issues. One of the issues that appears is that it will randomly not accept the Face ID scan and constantly log in and log you out and the only way to stop this is to uninstall the app. Once uninstalled the app either does not accept your original user name or will, this appears to be random. I really would like for this app to be more reliable so I don’t have carry my vaccination card especially because more places will require it to get in. Please make this app more stable

I really love this app it comes in handy so much because I always lose my ID and everywhere in Colorado basically accepts this form of Identification although lately the past three days my app has not worked I’ve had my cousin and my brother tried to download the app and it didn’t work for them either so I would really hope this is gettingFixed soon because this is really a problem solver

This app is constantly causing me to re-login and resubmit all of my IDs and fishing license every week. The point of this app and see you have your IDs on you and it could be used as an identifier but if it’s not reliable to keep them on the phone then why use it. My fear as a fisherman is to be fishing asked for my fishing license in the app doesn’t have it on there this time. That causes a lot of problems and headaches that no one needs. Suggestion keep your IDs with you your fishing license with you this app does not work. I have use this app since it’s inception and it has not worked once longer than a day or two.

I have had this app for several years, and once you’re logged into the app, it has a lot of opportunity and great things. The asinine aspect is logging in. Approximately every two months, when you need to go onto the app, your login is never remembered, there is no option for a Google/Apple/etc. login, and there is no option for Face ID. This turns into a cycle of trying to re-create a password, ping verification, apple suggested password fails, and ability to tap into any of the password boxes, text verifications, and the loop just continues and continues. This destroys the ability to actually use the product. Truly awful UX.

Renewed my license on Jan 1st in the app and received a text the same day stating my renewal was accepted. It’s now Feb 3rd and still no license received. I looked on the Colorado DMV website and it says my license was processed but was never mailed. I contacted the DMV and they told me the license may have been lost in the mail. Here’s a question for you, how can a license be lost in the mail if the state is saying it was never mailed in the first place. I followed the instructions in the app to open a ticket and also sent an email to the address listed in the app, and guess what, no response has been received. Maybe my expectations are too high for a government service.

It literally took me months. I was so exhausted after my initial failures that I put it aside for a long time. Then, I decided to give it another try. Hours later, after tears of rage, the app finally accepted a password. Now that I can login, the app seems to be fine. However, I can never forgive it for the many hours of my life that are gone forever and unpleasantly. I have created accounts dozens if not, hundreds of times. Usually the process is painless. I’d like to know why it is so hard for this app.

After getting my CO ID, I was excited to get the app. Had issues getting it started and support was hard to find. After going through text verification many many times, restarting my phone, deleting the app and reinstalling it, going through the photo verification steps several times in different lighting situations… I finally got it. Great. Did it have to be this hard though? Well, nevertheless, I’m glad I have it. It’s a little clunky, but for a government developed app, not bad.

I would not recommend downloading this app if your DMV picture is older than 5 years. I contacted support after not being able to verify my account and they said trying to verify your account can take up to 25 times of taking a picture to compare to your license or it’s just not going to work. I think it’s a good idea, but if these problems are known and they are using tax dollars to develop this solution they need an alternative way to verify identity to make use of the app open to everyone paying for it. If they came up with a secondary way to verify identity then this might be a better app.

No issues with my iPhone camera capturing the barcode on the back of the drivers license or setting up an account. The facial verification is to only verify that you’re a human and not a bot. So much smarter than making you choose photos with stoplights etc. I uploaded my covid vaccine card and a couple of insurance cards. I don’t have any hunting licenses so I can’t speak to that. App worked perfectly

Having your ID on hand is super easy and convenient if you’re someone like me who cannot help to spend money that’s nice to be able to keep all your personal belongings at home and not have to worry about it unless you lose your phone lol most stores take the virtual ID as long as it’s on the app and the brightness turns up so that the stores can clearly see your ID super convenient

I have tried to install this app many times. I have had nothing but problems with it. I contacted them and they tell me to delete the app and reinstall it. I still have the same problems. It will not let me log in I get the message that something went wrong with the pairing with my device and the MFA pairing. Please contact my Colorado for support. I’m very disappointed.

Updates have logged me out and doesn’t support iCloud Keychain/any password manager. End result is I have to pick between an insecure password I can remember/have used elsewhere or having to go through the password reset process every time which is what’s been happening. If those two things were fixed it’d be five stars. Love the concept, can’t wait for it to be supported more commonly like with law enforcement or airports.

Update: The developers reached out to me and suggested that I exit all apps and restart my iPhone then try again. I did and it worked. I am changing my one star to 4 stars. They may want to add to their initial login screen that the app uses a lot of memory and you should exits all other apps prior to continuing. Original review: You have to take photos of the front and back of the license as well as a selfie. The app accepted my front photo without a problem. When I tried to submit a back photo, the app hangs. So try again... and again... and again. Now I can’t even get the front photo to get accepted. Setup a different account name/email. Still won’t accept any photos. Oh well. It seemed like it would be a useful app, but for now it is just a time waster trying to get past the initial login.

Tried several times several different way to get the front and back of my drivers license and the selfie. Photo checks out during the process and gives green checks but fails every time when it tries to upload and says the photos are blurry or have a glare or something is wrong in general or an error occurred . Then it makes you log in again and redo it to have the same thing happen. It’s funny how my iPhone can recognize my face in near pitch black to unlock my phone but this app can’t recognize a face in a photo and upload to finish the account setup. Really frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP.

First of all, scanning the license is so hard, I have to hover my phone over the barcode for like a minute before it scans it. But my main issue is that I cannot create an account because every time I try it, after creating a username/password and all that stuff, it displays a message saying something like “oops, you caught with our system down, try again later” and it doesn’t matter how long I wait to try again (minutes, days, weeks, over a month now) it simply doesn’t work as it keeps displaying the same message. This app definitely needs an update!

Great new way to show my ID… clear enough for business’s to scan the barcode on back and to use for online verification! Also, a super quick way to update my address! I moved a couple weeks after getting a new car ID and I updated my address on the app, it only took a few days for the address to change on my digital ID!! Awesome

This app cannot be used by someone who uses a screen reader or completely blind. The app ask users to scan a barcode in order to register on there Colorado ID which a blind person cannot find. There’s also no guidance of where the barcode is from the app to help a blind person be able to find the barcode and register. In addition, after logging in The app asks users to verify themselves using a selfie video which also a blind person cannot do. I am posting this review here so it’s publicly available and the state is notified about the issues.

For the last 2 years at least since I have been trying, I have not been able to create an account with the same message: "myColorado is not able to communicate with the DMV systems right now. Please try again later.". Clicking on "App Support" takes you to a non existant webpage (404 page not found). I cannot believe this is an acceptable state-endorsed app. It is 100% completely useless. I have tried every recommended thread on the internet. I have the latest phone, latest OS and latest app. Still no joy. Even submitted a support ticket and still nothing...

This app is really convenient. It works well and doesn’t have many bugs. Just one thing though, when I exit the app after I go onto the digital ID, because it automatically increases the brightness when you go on it, if you don’t click the back button and you just exit the app, it stays on the maximum brightness.

I installed the app several months ago and got my COVID vaccine pass which took quite some time to verify me. Then added my drivers license. Last month the app didn’t work, and had me verify again who I was and I spent about 45 minutes going through that process again. When I got my booster shot I went back into the app to see if it was registered. Well, I had to verify myself for the third time!!! All was working last week. Two days ago Denver went into a mask mandate or allowing a business to admit COVID vaccinated people. One of our entertainment centers already had that mandate in place. So, with $249 in tickets in hand, I was not admitted. Why, I could not open the Mycolorado app. I showed the ticket taker a pic of my card, but it was a bit to dark and out of focus. Frustrating. Well, after observing a bunch of people having the same problem the center relaxed the rule for the night. Don’t trust this app.

I really love the concept of this app. Debility to store your Colorado ID, your vaccination records, your insurance and registration information as well as other state related info… However getting access to this information is difficult I will keep the faith and continue using it because it’s the best way for vaccination records to be stored and validated without having to carry your vaccine card everywhere. Looking forward to fixes and updates as the application matures

Able to scan DL; however, Creating Account is non responsive. Have tried several times and receive the spinning wheel of death after entering my account info and select Create Account. I tried later in the day and I was able to complete the registration process and it has been working fine ever since. I am excited to see how this app will evolve to include car Registration and Insurance info

Genuinely such a cool app. Not only does it have my ID, but it’s able to load nearly all other state documents as well like my vehicle title and registration. I think if the Keep Colorado Wild digital pass was added it would be perfect. I’d also like to see voter registration added in some way in the future. Right now, though, it’s a very cool app that works flawlessly for me.
