App is amazingly frustrating
I was really excited to be able to link my air purifier to my phone and see how the air quality in the room was since my son has allergies and asthma. The app is unable to link. About halfway... it just stops. In another review you see someone mention this as well and it makes sense. The unit is dropping connection with the phone and trying to connect to the home network... but isn’t working. Apparently this isn’t a new issue and seems to have been on going for a couple weeks now. I may give it a couple days and see but as the frustration builds, my excitement about this fan and cost is diminishing. Probably going to return it in a few days if this isn’t resolved. On another note. I purchased mine at Costco and noticed that there were a bunch of units there that seemed to have been returned units because the tape had been removed or visibly torn. In fact... it took me awhile to find a box where it looked like it was never opened. It now makes sense as to why so many of these were brought back.

Used to always stay connected now it’s intermittent
After an update about a year ago now when opening the app to control my air purifier it’s random now as to if the app can even find and connect to the purifier. This is absolutely unacceptable as the machines are 500+ not to mention that I’ve spent $80each on now 3 replacement filters totaling $240 just for those! And now I almost never can control the thing via voice commands or even the app. But the magic fix is if you unplug the purifier and plug back in it’ll connect right back to the app control this is utterly useless if I can unplug it then I can just use the little IR remote! Fix your software, or you should have to pay me a fine for inability to use already purchased features! Or refund my money for your defunct over priced machine! Dyson is so rich they absolutely could lower their prices they don’t have to profit the level they do that’s an active choice. One only needs keep their prices high just when founding a company after you gain notoriety and income you can lower your profit expectations. Get over yourself! I have other air purifiers in other rooms that are the price of just the dyson purifier and their app control has never once been unavailable, the others even have UV air sterilization which dyson doesn’t offer?!? Fix your junk dyson spend some of that money on good programmers!

SCAMMED BY DYSON
Another edit: Dyson continues to ignore customer and astroturf their reviews. They ignore customer service emails after giving garbage copy paste responses. Possibly the worst company I have ever dealt with. I haven’t updated the app on my phone since they removed the ability to view run times and weekly data. Today I get a pop up in app saying they no longer support my version, and I’m forced to update. It was working fine yesterday. Dyson is a trash company filled with trash people who don’t care. I bought my air purifier FOR THOSE FEATURES. Dyson should be sued. Original: Out of the 101 reviews so far in 2021 the app has 48 1 star ratings vs. 18 5 star ratings. If they weren’t riding on their past reviews, just for this year it’s at a 2.3 star average. They continue to remove features and ignore customers. I love my V11 Outsize, and I really liked my HP04 until they needlessly gimped their app. We would have two more purifiers for our house had they not made their changes. I’ve been holding out in hopes that the historical features would be added back in, but it’s about time to move on. I don’t see myself purchasing any Dyson product in the future; not from a company that charges a premium to then simply dismiss their customers. The state of their app in relation to the published rating is disingenuous, at best. 2.3 stars seems about right, though.

Newest update
Updated review: The app has been updated and the ability to swipe to the different machines has returned! Great job, I don’t think i could live without this app now. Thank you for the follow up Dyson The app has changed and where I was able to swipe left and right to see the multiple machines I own has been removed. Now the menu on the left is to select a specific machine and then see only those details, seems much more counterintuitive than the last version. Dyson products are so smooth to operate and normally sleekly designed. This actually reversed that and makes the app more of a pain than a pleasure. Please please please allow us to easily slide between machines as it was before, it made sense. I would go five stars on this app, literally love all of it aside from this klunky feature update

Temp control unavailable on app (UL 1278 compliance)
Bought HP02 in Sept 2020 to combats the smokey LA wildfire air. We planned to put the unit in our 16 month old’s room and was excited to be able to control and monitor her room temp remotely. We loved the idea of being able to heat up her room in the winter without the need to heat up the whole house, and being able to do so via the app remotely and adjust the temp as needed. Upon Installing the app, we found that the temp control option is not available and only accessible via the remote due to compliance with UL 1278 (we reside in the US). My friends that have had the HP02 from 2019 all still have the temp control function available on their app. I am not sure if this is an updated feature restriction to new machines made in 2020 only. Very disappointed as we paid premium for the connectivity of the machine only to find one of the key function inaccessible. It’s too expensive of a machine to not have the temp adjustment function assessable on the app. Having to be in her room to adjust the temp via the remote will be a huge hassle and defeats the purpose of having the app. Looking to return the machine to find better air filter and heater options.

Inconsistent
Hello! The reason for my score is simply the inconsistency of the app. When it works as intended it’s great! But I find that I am unable to connect to my machine regularly. I understand this may be due to my internet connection. Even as I write this review I have to type my note elsewhere and copy and paste it into the review section of the app because as I type text in the app the text is invisible and I need to copy and paste this to even see what I’m writing. Setting up my machine for the first time with the app was an absolute nightmare. I was getting help from the chat for hours and nothing helped. Eventually I tried a few days later and it worked. Just absolutely shocked that the app has failed me as often as it does with such a high price on my actual machine, and also I believed the Dyson name to be trustworthy and reliable but the app alone has really made me question weather or not I will purchase Dyson again in the future. Sorry for the bad review. I truly with I had more positive things to say but the app really just is aweful and frustrating when it is not working as intended, which for me is often. Sad day.

Dyson Link App is amazing, if it connects!
So the Dyson tech that helped me via Dyson app chat was of no help. Friendly, but had no helpful tips as to help me navigate the app connecting to my machine. I wasted so many hours and this sounds silly, but I think it may be most Link App users issue: For one, make sure you turn 5GHz wifi off. Make sure it connects to the 2.4GHz. 2nd, the Link App has a huge flaw in not blocking you from moving forward if you are accidentally entering the wrong internet provider/wifi password. It kept telling me it paired every time for appx 40 tries so I assumed I had been using the right password. It would say it was finishing connecting like it was successful and would apologize for connecting slowly. FINALLY I got curious about entering CenturyLink’s “passphrase” and a miracle happened! It connected to the app in 1 second! I very much hope this helps others as the HP02 machine is a wonderful machine for our baby’s room to monitor the temp and regulate air particles in our old house.

Bugged
This app is generally a bit buggy and cumbersome and normally around a 3, but the current version is broken. When you edit schedules in it, the settings are never saved. Meaning if I try to disable a temperature schedule and enable a different one, if I try to edit the existing schedule, none of that information gets saved. So I’m stuck roasting on a winter temperature schedule. I tried to report this in the app but there doesn’t seem to be anybody supporting the chat feature at this time and there didn’t seem to be an asynchronous channel for easily reporting bugs. Additionally, sometimes when you turn it on and override the hot and cold device’s existing settings, it doesn’t do anything (e.g., sometimes I have to hit oscillate several times to get it to oscillate). This product also desperately needs the ability to switch from hot to cool automatically if the temperature exceeds a certain value. And the ambient measurements displayed in the app often seem quite random or out of date. As a software engineer, I do not find this app to be well designed or maintained. Here’s hoping at least somebody at Dyson reads their app reviews.

What happened to the graphs??
This app used to display great and very useful graphs showing how the air quality, humidity, and temperature in your room and also outside fluctuated throughout the day and also from week to week, month to month over time. It was easy to access from the app’s main page, and to me was the main point of the app. Now, the graphs they do have are hidden— you have to counterintuitively swipe up from the bottom of the screen, but just in the right way so that it doesn’t close the app. But it only has the daily data for one week now. This is useless. How do I know how my air quality is changing from week to week? Please give us the old graphs back— or if they are hidden, unhide them! I searched the Internet for an hour before I even found out how to swipe up to see the daily graph, but I wanted the weekly one. Very frustrating. If anything, they should develop *more* graphs and *more* ways to view them, with *more* data, not take them away. This is very frustrating and makes no sense.

Helpful but deceptive
In all honestly I love our Dyson Cool Link Air Purifier. It creates wonderful airflow and allows my family confidence in the quality of the air quality in our home. That being said the app states that the air filter is GUARANTEED for 12 months, contrary to the approximate 6 months of use it has provided. Upon speaking to a customer service representative I was informed that only applies to 12 hours of use a day or 4382 hours of total use, about 6 months of 24 hour use. It is egregious that this is not stated, explicitly or otherwise. There is just the blanket statement that it is guaranteed for 12 months, no asterisk or anything. Similarly while a user is able to reset this “timer” once a new filter has been installed there is no mark or date of when this was done making this whole process quite deceptive. The quality of the app is honestly excellent but functionality is just as important as how things are labeled or represented on the UI. Buyer beware.

Great but BRING BACK SWIPING
UPDATE 2: It would be amazing if there was a way to set a maximum fan speed for the Auto mode. 0-4 is fine for Sleep mode but it would be awesome to be able to set Auto to have speeds of 0-7 for example. UPDATE: Thank you for bringing back the swipe!!!! It’s a great app and it works great with all four of my Dyson Pure Cool machines, two TP04s, a DP02 and a TP02. BUT, as many others here, I’m extremely perplexed as to why the Dyson app designers would make an update to their app where they make a very simple task more difficult and cumbersome than it was before. I see no reason as to why this feature was removed. You could have added the menu feature for those who want to click on specific devices but also kept the swiping feature for the rest of us because that was much much much better for me and many others. Like thousands of others, I am strongly petitioning to bring this feature back. This will become a five star review if ever that feature is reinstated. Upsetting is the fact that it disproportionately affects the more loyal customers; those who have multiple devices, since those with only one device would not even have noticed the change.

Pointless.
I’m normally not one to write reviews, but when the app I’m trying to use is just pushing me around in circles it gets frustrating. I downloaded this app a few years ago and it worked perfect, I could see graphs of air quality. I could control the fan with my phone. I just re-downloaded the app and was surprised to find that it’s all just instructions and advertisements of other Dyson products. Now its just useless. I cant control my fan with my phone anymore, I get there’s other ways to do that but it’s not as simple anymore. There’s no more graphs for air quality, I can’t even see anything other than “how to use fan” or “restarting fan”. Dyson, please bring back the graphs and the easily used controls from the mobile app. I know your technology in the fans now has most of that. But please, just bring back the simplicity of the mobile app, you don’t have to advertise all of your products on an app for the already bought products.

Live and learn!
You start to understand why Dyson products are so expensive! There’s a lot of value and quality in their devices… and the app adds total, from anywhere, control and monitoring. We mainly keep it in our backyard RV that we like to weekend camp in. My daughter suffers from pet allergies but we didn’t find out until years after adopting our beloved Lab. Since no one wanted to find her another home, we have been working towards keeping her environments as clean as possible. I can now monitor our RV’s air quality, temp, and humidity 24/7 from anywhere, even if purifier is off. I can also completely operate the unit including an auto mode that will continue to work towards achieving a particular goal!

Great Product, Horrible App
After paying nearly a grand for an air purifier, I’d expect to be able to use one of its promoted features, wireless control, without issue. This app is almost impossible to connect in the first place and if by some miracle you get it to connect, it will randomly disconnect. Customer service is not equipped to address this issue. The app currently thinks someone else is controlling my machine despite this most certainly not been the case. Reading through reviews makes it glaringly obvious that this is a persistent and well-known issue that Dyson is choosing to ignore. Edit re: developer response - Gosh, wish I would have thought about this during the 37 minutes I spent on the phone with customer service where we did that in addition to multiple other troubleshooting steps. Also, it’s HILARIOUS that I got an ill-informed response to my review before Dyson responded to my escalated case (no response since it was escalated last week).

Some areas for improvement
First I’d like to say that I enjoy using the app and dyson products in general. I have three suggestions that could greatly improve the product and app experience: 1- app interface for homes with multiple dyson air treatment devices: it would be much more convenient to display all devices on the home page of the app. Instead of displaying one device under the roof of the current design, display all devices there. Right now, I have to keep going to the menu each time I want to check air quality and controls of different device location. 2- alerts and notification. It would be nice if we are allowed to set app alerts if air quality goes above a certain threshold. It would help us notice and adjust controls and fan speed in a more timely way when the device is not within the eye sight. 3- this brings me to the last suggestion which has to do with the Auto mode. The auto mode needs a minimum fan speed attached to it. In hot days when I want the fan to work even if the air quality is good, auto mode is useless because the fan will go zero. I’d use auto mode much more if I can set a speed floor for the fan under the mode. Thank you!

Good product
We have two cool heat purification unit 07. We’re heading into our second year. The air quality has improved considerably. The heat work nice in out kitchen and bedroom. The app allows me to check room conditions which is nice. However you cannot control the heat from the app due to regulations. I’m ok with that. Adding if the heat runs continuously for around 8 hour or so. The machine shut off. Which isn’t that big of a deal. But it may be frustrating to those who try to use it as a main heating source. Which I don’t believe that’s the design led purpose. I’d like for Dyson to design one that could be a main heat source. I recommend this for someone wanting cleaner air with the added features of heat

It’s OK, but after so many years, it should be a lot better!
I’ve been using this app since 2016 and it is very surprising how little it has evolved over the years. There is basic functionality like landscape mode on an iPad that still isn’t supported. You can’t swipe to delete an alert or even get it to mark the alert as read. I recently added another HP02 and spent hours trying to get it to finish connecting resulting in a lengthy session with support and when I gave up on it and went to bed, it just magically appeared in the morning and was working. There are many other user experiences that just aren’t designed to make life easier and when you have multiple machines, no ability to show more than one at time nor is it simple to switch between them. For the price of these machines, it would be nice if Dyson put a few dollars back into the app.

I don’t know how I ever lived without this robot
I am truly amazed and addicted to this robot vacuum. Super easy to set up, use and it does an outstanding job. We have a dog, lots of hair and dander and I use this vacuum almost every night. It saves me SO much time not having to manually vacuum. I debated buying it for some time because of the price. I can tell you it’s worth its weight in gold. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my stick Dyson, but in between full vacuuming this robot does the trick. Now my dilemma is do I get a second one for upstairs!? I know I can just get another dock, but I need a back up too if this one goes in for service. I can’t live without it. Buy it today. You won’t regret it.

Dyson Link App for Dyson Air Purifier
This App states that my iPhone is paired successfully and the Dyson is connected, however, when I click on the app it tells me I’m offline and to take these steps to get back online like maybe my Dyson is too far away to get a WiFi connection. Well it wasn’t too far away to tell me it connected successfully. After repeated trying to get a connection I was told my generation Dyson purifier works only with 2.4Gz and my router works on 5.0 Gz. So I got a new router that according to AT&T will work with both frequencies automatically. End result- the app still does not work. Well I bought this Dyson before I knew about the “App” and this would be a nice bonus, but since I’m unable to get an internet connection to the Dyson, I will be using it without this feature. Just an FY I for those planing to buy this Dyson Air Purifier with this App-it will only work with 2.4 Gz., And maybe not even with that since it didn’t work with my router that uses both frequencies.

Disappointed by an app that is not working
Just bought a Dyson TP02 and was excited that I could use an app to monitor the history of air quality and control the fan from my phone. But what a disappointment with this app. It is not working and constantly trying to connect and most times fails. And the few times it works it is not showing any history data at all and to connect you have to force close the app several times and once in a time Hou might get lucky and the app at least connects and allows you to see the status of your fan. Overall a very disappointing experience and no suggestion is helping to fix it. I can only hope Dyson will fix the app soon and for such an expensive fan that is the minimum you can expect that quality control releases an app that works. Overall a very disappointing experience that I am not used to have with my other Dyson products.

Updated Review
My previous review complained about the removal of the swipe between room functionality. I have to hand it to the developers because they listened! I thank the developers for this! I still think the old swipe interaction was better for 2 reasons. First, you now have to swipe from the edge whereas you used to be able to drag the room to the side from anywhere on the screen. Second, the previous swipe interaction actually moved the house under your finger, which is typically how swipe interactions work on mobile. Overall, the app is a good app. There’s still room for improvement (I’d really love to see a view of all my rooms – fan states, air quality, etc – all on one screen). But if you’re a Dyson fan owner, this app gets the job done and it’s a must-have.

This thing is from the future
When i first bought the dyson cool link, i was wondering why it cost so much. i later realized that it filters out the air which is rlly good and my room has been fresh and clean ever since. I later discovered it can with a app. which is this app. you can schedule when your link turns on and how strong the air will flow. and this thing so has voice command. so all i have to do is set up what i’m going to say. then tell siri a voice command and it will connect to my fan and do what i asked. i can say full send to siri, then all of a sudden the link turns on and at power 10 which is the best, the thing rotates and does everything i asked for. So worth the purchase

Need more on app
Need to be able to view current temperature setting, even if we aren’t able to control it via the app it would still be helpful to know the current setting so I know if I need to go back into my nursery or not. Also the controls aren’t optimal or intuitive. I should be able to indicate the temp setting separate from the heat/cool function. And auto setting is misleading. Auto to me would mean whatever temp I set, the device knows to heat or cool accordingly. But instead, the only thing auto does is filter the air and change air speed according to conditions. That’s fine but the device should always be doing that already, isn’t that the point of the hepa filter and extra exorbitant pricing?

NOT an annoying appliance app (finally)!
I’m used to apps for appliances being slow, glitchy, poorly designed, and frustrating to navigate. We have had our dyson tower for almost 5 years now and I’m finally writing a review for the app lol at first I didn’t use the app because it has a little remote, but I found ease of access when using my phone instead now. I don’t really need the remote unless I can’t find my phone, and I appreciate how it tells me what allergens are in the room and how much of it, and even logs the time of day which it detected any. I love my tower so much and puts my health anxieties at ease.

Keep Supporting Zone
Love my Zone. There's nothing like it for people who need it. Please keep making it (better). The new audio control experience is great. Hoping for a Turbo mode for purification, for those of us cyborgs with tethered power. That said, the app cannot handle having two devices simultaneously. Zone and OnTrac support being paired to two devices, but MyDyson kicks you out each time. Finally, a percentage battery status in the app (currently the ONLY way to see battery percentage on iOS is with the Apple Watch companion)... Please!! BUG: Also, ordering Zone accessories in-app is broken. You tap Show All Accessories, and the app infinite loops. Would be better to just link jump to the default web browser.

Switched phone to 4G in order to connect
I was having trouble connecting my phone to the Dyson using wi-fi. I would get to the last step and it would say connection failed after 20 minutes of trying to sync. After one month - the fan and air purifier is great- I decided to try again. Again- failure to connect. Then I read you can’t use a 5.0 ghz network. Weird. So I turned the wifi off on my phone and switched to 4G. Bam- 5 seconds later it was connected. Seriously though- 2.4ghz is a strange criteria to have in order to sync an app. The interface seems quite intuitive so far. We will be adding a second Dyson soon so this will make it a lot easier then keeping track of the tiny remotes with two toddlers in the house.

Good info, but no customization.
The information given is nice to have, especially if you’re sensitive to stuff in the air. Meat to see when air in the home becomes ‘polluted’ so to speak. My only issue is the data can only be seen on a very vague daily table and bar graph that only goes back a week. I’d like to be able to see one year back. See how my air changes through the seasons, not just the last week. Also, it’s be nice if there was some customization like being able to set the level of stuff in the air before the fan comes on. It’s preset by the factory and not adjustable. You can turn it on and off yourself, or use their standard, that’s it. No adjustment in that regard, which is a bummer. Fan works well, no complaint although I’ve only had it a month.

Simply amazing.
The app is functionally amazing. I have three of the Pure Hot+Cool Links around my house and they all took minutes to connect to WiFi and get linked up. The app handles them all perfectly and never seems to have connection issues. Even when other smart product apps have difficulty. While my last year purchased purifier has the heat option in the app still, the newer ones don’t (even though they’re the same) due to some new US regulations. That’s not something Dyson has In their power to change/control, but is worth a mention since some people don’t understand that’s not the apps/Dyson’s fault.

Trash software and app
This is an abomination of the Dyson brand. They make great products but the “smart” element is in dire straits. First off, they seem to be using an old protocol (2.4 connection only). Most advanced router / mesh systems have a combination which Dyson DOES NOT support. That said, I was able to register the device ONCE using my wife’s phone. The stats appeared on the app for anyone logged into the Dyson app for about 30 minutes then the connection fell and we were never able to connect again. Dyson technical support does not offer device specific support (Nest WiFi) so you’re essentially paying a huge premium on an air purifier that has none of the smart functionality that’s loaded into the cost of the machine. Avoid until Dyson can get their software up to date. No reason to spend cycles with their support team or look on reddit since there’s no real help anywhere.

Love my Dyson
I have been enjoying my Dyson. I like the app and being able to look at the history of the air quality. As others have said, my wishes would be a landscape mode and an explanation of what the different air quality symbols mean. I have the page from the Dyson website bookmarked for reference but it would be great if that was in the app. The question mark explains the graph but not what NO2 means. I too have tried the chat feature in the app with no luck. I finally sent an email to Dyson with my question and got a quick reply. My BIGGEST WISH would be to get a notification when the air quality or one of the other factors spiked. That way I could try to pinpoint what caused it.

Stop complaining....
People in the US need to stop complaining about not being able to control the heater. Dyson is being over-regulated by US laws, politicians and the US government and because of this over-regulation, Dyson is not permitted to allow US app users access to the heating feature on the app. If you’re unhappy, write or call your local politicians. The United States likely has these regulations in place because of lawsuits and negligence by consumers. People have put their space heaters too close to blinds and furniture, which caused fires, they sued the manufacturers so laws were put into place.

No Landscape Orientation
I love the app and the functionality of using it wherever I am, but unfortunately you can only use the app with your device if its portrait orientation. If my iPad is on its keyboard and I want to use the app, I am faced with having to take my device off the keyboard to use since it won’t rotate, or simply use the app in the fixed portrait orientation while my iPad is in landscape orientation. The simple addition of using the app in landscape mode will make a world of a difference in terms of convenience. Plus many hotel or smart home iPad control units usually have all the controls in landscape mode vs portrait which makes the experience of being able to use the Dyson app in the similar functionality feel more premium.

Here’s how to get your device to connect
If you are having problems connecting your air purifier or other device with the app, you must do one of the following to set it up: A. Connect to your dedicated 2.4GHz WiFi network on your phone. This is usually labeled with some variation of “2.4” in the name of the network, or if it isn’t but you have one that has “5 GHz” in the name, choose the one without 5 GHz in the name. The Dyson must be set to connect to this network and not the 5 GHz network. B. If your WiFi networks share the same name, or you only have one network being broadcast, go into your router’s settings and DISABLE the 5 GHz network broadcast until you set the Dyson device up, then re-enable it. The Dyson will connect fine after you complete the setup process in the app successfully. This is an unfortunate design flaw as many modern routers use the same name for both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands being broadcast. Once the app is set up, it works great and allows you to monitor your air quality. Very nice!

Bluetooth issues
Serious bluetooth issues during the setup process using new IOS. I was able to set up the machine with old IOS. I had to redo the setup process and it has been a nightmare. After countless hours I figured out why. The fan drops the bluetooth connection during the setup process for some reason. And yes, I have tried everything the customer service told me to do. Out of interest, how many people experiencing this issue have narrowed it down to the bluetooth connection dropping during the setup process? Also, it is not because of other interference as I have tested this too. Bottom line: after the new IOS updates the bluetooth connection used during the setup stage is unstable and I can not use the app of my $700 fan. Here comes developer response: please e-mail us at.... so that we can waste more of your time.

You Don’t Get What You Pay For
If you buy a product it may work for a year or two. Then when something inevitably goes wrong you are on your own. Have purchased incomplete packaged vacuum missing the laser thing and was told that was on back order because of Covid. All this time later…… NOTHING! I have four lamps two vacuums three different style fans and the hairdryer. The lamps are cool but the fans have not held up. All the filters are different so frustrating. My dog attacks the hair dryer when in us. It’s Hysterical. And he plays when I’m vacuuming but I don’t have to worry about his eyes bc there is no laser for dust attachment. I’ve changed the filter on the fan just now but it still reads need change icon. Obs very expensive, was off to a good start with team. Love product and design. However the culture changed, all the people in SF left and the new crew has their hands tied and you will end up in the phone tree of dead ends with bad person customer service. I’m not saying I wouldn’t buy some of the items again. Buyer beware, you don’t get what you pay for. Warm regards - Sean

As much as Dyson costs we expect a decent app
As much as Dyson costs we except a functional app with a thought out design. Connection and update issues aside the little things matter too… Many little things are missing like matching the color and model year of the machine in the app to the machine you own (something I asked for years ago). Heck the icon now is a 10 year old white version of the most current machine. The last one actually bothers me the most because it is the easiest to fix… and design flow wise matters the most… How hard is it to give an icon that accurately represents the product? At least by color if not exact model since you know its serial number… or let me change it manually at least… but even manually isn’t available..

Was never able to connect via the app
So my old humidifier that I absolutely LOVED, the motor gave out, and they no longer make the motor or support the product...much sadness. So got out new humidifier/air purifier+cool and thought cool. Followed the simple 4 step IKEA instructions to set up. The humidity level after one night never got above 23%, hello I live in Colorado, so 23% is about our norm this time of year. So then I downloaded this app, maybe to see if it was more useful than the instructions sent with the machine. My iPhone shows the machine connected by way of Bluetooth, but the app says no. After about the 5th try I decided to call Dyson and got the triangle warning sign of death. New machine out of box one day, and now they have to send me a new one. Not impressed with the app or this new machine, seems Dyson is slipping with their quality.

Cannot link app with machine
I decided get the HP02 Dyson Air purifier over the HP01 because of the ability to use the Dyson App. However, after spending hours with frustration trying to connect the machine to my home wifi, I found out that the machine doesn’t work with 5.0ghz network. So what’s the point of making an app while your customers cannot even use it? Can you just pleasssse make the app/machine compatible with the 5.0ghz WITHOUT telling us to spend another hundreds of dollar on the second generation of this fan. Now with the HP02, wifi is such a useless feature for me and like others mention hope I won’t lose the remote control any time soon. This is such a waste of money when you’re not even get what you paid for. So disappointed with my first and probably last Dyson product!

You don’t understand.
I have had my air purifiers now for quite awhile, and let’s be honest.. those remotes fall into black holes quite often. So I like to use the app. Fantastic well designed app as it was. But with this new update. I’m talking about the new remote built into the Home Screen. Thank you. So very much. Who ever had this idea, you are a forward thinker. And thank you to the dev team for the CLEAN UI. Awesome stuff. I fully recommend a Dyson fan now. Clean bedroom air. And when you lose your remote in the pit of despair, just open the app, and boom, that sucker is right in your hand!

The app and air purifier will not connect as advertised
For the amount one pays for these products, it’s reasonable to believe that they should work as advertised. Alas, this isn’t the case with Dyson. I have a TP04 air purifier that will not stay connected to the app long enough to utilize the continuous monitoring feature, yet the fan is connected long enough for me to control it remotely, and view the current air condition. I have factory reset the fan DOZENS of times and deleted and re-downloaded the app in an attempt to create a better connection, but nothing has resolved this for months. Reaching out to customer service is also useless, as their only remedy is to unplug the fan and plug it back in after a few minutes. The other meritless resolution offered was to move the fan closer to the router. It lives 3 feet (line of sight) from the router, so I’m not sure how much closer it needs to be. If you are in the market for an air purifier, I highly recommend you look at other brands. If you’re dead set on buying a Dyson, be sure to buy it at Costco or another retailer that offers a robust return policy; you’ll be needing it.

Love it
I love my Dyson Pure Cool Link. It cools the room and being able to monitor it via the app is great. I can keep an eye on the settings and the air quality in and around my home with the touch of a button. I am, however, disappointed that the daily schedule feature is gone from the app. I used to have it automatically turn on and off at set times of day. That was great when not home so I knew my pets were getting the cool breeze on hot days. I often forget to click into the app to turn it on while at work so that feature was one of my favorite things.

Updates: Unable to connect
Until and unless this issue gets solved this all gets a 0 star if I could. I can never seem to connect to my machine and i'm about to just give up on connecting it entirely, which means I wont be able to use the AQI function i bought this for as well as remote temp control. ____UPDATED REVIEW Tinkered with it for hours and finally got it to download and it works, so I am updating the review as the app itself is intuitive and easy to use. It does disconnect randomly from time to time though. Still the app should be *easy* to sync with the machine... so it doesn't get more than 3 stars atm

App is horrible!!
Why do I need to set up an account with username/password, email, first and last name, location, and wifi password to control my Dyson fan? Why??? All i want to do is turn on cooling mode!!! I’m house sitting for some friends, and I don’t know the wifi passcode. My phone has it saved, but the app is too dumb to recognize it. But why does the fan even need all this? Just make a fan that connects via Bluetooth without all the registration hoopla, or better yet, put buttons on the dumb thing. The wireless sound board I run for the band is easier to use than this fan. If they can do it for a soundboard, Dyson can do it for a fan. I’d rather suffer through this 90degree heat than try to figure out this thing. So absurd.

It’s ok- basically just a remote.
I thought it was super cool initially how the app would tell me the air quality inside my house, but it varies so dramatically (swinging from “good” to “very poor” and back within the hour, etc.) that I don’t see how it can possibly be accurate. Plus when I change it to auto when the air quality is “very poor” the speed goes down? That doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it really knows what the air quality is inside, although the purifier does make the air smell cleaner at least. Without that feature this is basically just a remote for your phone, which is convenient, but not as innovative as it claims.

Pretty good - bring back the old swipe!
The app is pretty well designed but the removal of the intuitive swiping motion and affordance of how many devices I have at the bottom, is pretty bad. I know a hacked version had been put back in but it's not a great interaction. Please bring back the old swipe, I have four machines and that nice swipe made it much easier to see all of them quickly. Also having some sort of dashboard with a status for all the machine as a quick snapshot on one screen would be a nice feature. Especially if it could show current air quality and remaining filter life.

I love my fan. But…
I love my Dyson smart fan. So much better than the non smart fan, I would know, I’ve had both. But, my only complaint is that I’ve replaced the filter now, twice, I continue to see the ‘need to replace the filter’ warning. It’s annoying and continues to come back even when I toggle the display screen away from it. Make it so this display goes away, for good. I get that it’s trying to make sure you replace the filter, and it’s right, mine has needed to be replaced. But after I replaced it, the same message appears. For the second time! Otherwise, great fan.

WiFi problems are password related
For all those in previous reviews having trouble connecting a Dyson device to WiFi, part of the issue is the likely very secure password you are using. This includes those folks who’s app disconnects from the Dyson device halfway through setup. It turns out that the Dyson devices will only accept a few non-alphanumeric characters in the password. For example, a period “.” Is okay, but a dollar sign ($) is not. It turns out that Dyson employs genius mechanical and electrical engineers, but their software developers know absolutely jack about network security. For me, since I am unwilling to change the very secure password on my 30 IoT and other devices just to accommodate a really cool fan and air filter, it will be going back to the store. One Dyson support tech suggested that their highest end device “might” work since it is newer. My reply is that if that’s so, then Dyson should update the firmware on all of their devices to support accepted network security standards. Their lack of concern over this is unacceptable, hence the one star rating. It’s a shame, otherwise the Dyson Hot+Cool Link is a really great fan.

Failed connection problems
We have a Dyson air purifier that was working fine with the app for months. Every once in awhile we would have connection failed issues and would have to restart the device. Within the last couple weeks our connection to the app dropped for good. We tried rebooting and ensuring the WiFi was enabled on the purifier many times. After several days of fighting with it we finally removed the purifier from our app and reset the device. Now from the initial setup in the app we aren't even able to add the purifier at all. It’s a real bummer we loved this product up until now and were considering buying several more this holiday season.

Like the rest of Dyson - terrible support
Dyson has awful support. I tried this terrible app (no landscape - really?) after experiencing Dyson actively ignoring an issue with my vacuum order being dead on arrival order that I raised on their other support channels. This app was no better as chat was initially not responsive and constantly disconnected. Finally after reaching someone in chat, I spent almost half an hour only for them to ask me to try back the next day as their escalation team was not available. Dyson is having a laugh at their customer’s expense and seem to spend plenty of money on adverts but little on quality products or support. Once I finally get my DOA item returned I am done with them.

Someone Needs To Get Fired For This
Since the App Store’s inception nearly 12 years ago, I’ve never been compelled to write a single review ........until now. Why was the ability to QUICKLY swipe left/right between machines removed? I have 8 different purifiers and the newly-added “feature” of having to access a separate window from which we have to then individually select each machine is nonsensical. There is literally no practical reason behind this. If the purported excuse for this is to reassign that gesture for another future purpose, can you think of a way to toggle between machines that’s anything other than outrageously inefficient? I would pay a ridiculous amount of money for a transcript of the discussion that led to this decision. Whoever thought of this idea (and everyone who supported it) should really be removed from your design team. In fact, anyone who didn’t object to this app bastardization needs to go too. I imagine the people who are most perplexed by this are Dyson’s most loyal customers, those who own several products. Well done dev team!
