I can see that an application or inquiry came in, but that’s about it. I cannot see the Comments in either area, or take any action on applications. I need the same functionality as I have on the website. If I have to open a mobile browser & login to the website to do what I need, then what is the point of the app?

With feedback and patience, things have improved since this app first launched. As a millennial Scouter, this app works just fine and as intended. Having assisted my… more seasoned fellow Scouters in how to use their phones, once they get the hang of things, they too find the app just fine.

At least with the previous Scoutbook I could stumble around and eventually get to where I needed to go. This new version has completely shut me out of my Scout Troop. And there is no indication within for a help or FAQ link. So until this version somehow becomes useful for me and I can actually evaluate its usefulness for me I stand by my rating. Would like to have something that works and is beneficial but I don’t see this happening in this version.

This app is not really a solution for anything. BSA has too many apps, non of which seem to communicate well with each other. A one-stop-shop application is what BSA needs. Neither one of the apps I have downloaded offer enough to not need the browser web address.

Training goes out to the website with a non-mobile friendly interface for completing training so I’m not sure why they don’t try to improve that with this app. I would love to do training on the go but this is just not helpful ☹️ this is certainly not your best, BSA. Also, When I click resources > units > uniforms, the app crashes 😾 Enough for now. Maybe I’ll try it again if they improve/flesh out the UX.

For the last two months every time I try logging in all I get is a blank white screen. I’ve deleted the app, reinstalled the app, even went as far as erasing my phone and setting up as new. Nothing seems to get me past the blank white screen. Not sure why I care, it’s mid March and my council has yet to update my membership but they were sure quick to cash my check. Deleting the app.

I LOVED the old version of the myScouting app. I would tell others about it on the commissioner team and District Key 3 Team. How at my finger tips as District Commissioner I could check unit rosters while meeting with them to confirm an app had processed or not. Also I used the color coded YPT all the time. With a quick filter then checks I could quickly email those expired or that would in 30 or 60 or 90 days. I was encouraging others to also utilize that so we could help get the notices out. After the iPhone update the old version wouldn’t work anymore and I went to look for an update and instead found a whole new app. Yes I can enter a simple contact still but the app was most being utilized in ways that are no longer available so we would have to have our computers with us when meeting with a unit to check on things for them. I 100% support having an app, the new look is nice, but please bring back where We can access easily the member lists for the units as well as the YPT status and send emails by selecting individuals.

Doesn’t work on an iPad. Won’t resume a session. Wasted 30 minutes doing hazardous weather, and it started over. It says 40% completed but after asking to resume it goes to the beginning. The drag and drop lessons don’t work. At first I was glad to see it had been updated because the old version was painful to listen to the robo voice. But wow, this is worse yet. IF YOU WANT VOLUNTEERS TO DO THE TRAINING, MAKE IT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

I am unable to move any of my membership cards in Apple Wallet on the iPhone. When I click on “Save in Wallet” it’s just opens Safari on the last web page I was on.

It is not possible to enter a contact using the precanned meeting types. The backend is returning a null constraint on the Other title which wasn't even selected at the time. This app is utter garbage and is making me reconsider continued service as a commisioner. A workaround is to use the Other title and enter in a value for the meeting type.

It is good to uses but minor bugs with the app and scaling to different devices. Buttons will work on the iPad version but not in iPhone. Otherwise does everything I need.

Just joined scouts with my child. The app is terrible. I can’t get past the welcome screen. Very buggy. Honestly, if this is how the scouting experience is going to be the entire way through I’d almost rather not. Also - why so many apps? I don’t understand why everything isn’t in one application.

It’s good to have an app when it’s functional. I’m able to see my profile but the resources section is broken. I can go through the selection tree but when I chose a resource the app closes. Functionality may be better the closer you are to the upper management levels.

Use a mobile browser. The only native elements of this app function as a bookmark manager that launches all content in an external browser. This app adds nothing worth the space required for install.

I believe this is a very helpful app. Especially to enter commissioners contacts

I am an asst scoutmaster. I need an app that i can use to help scouts check off the objectives they need. We dont need an app to look at my training that comes around once every 1 to 2 years.

Garbage application. Difficult to use, glitches. I have never had more difficulty trying to register my son or even myself for anything in 2024. Not intuitive at all.

This app and the underlying system are heading in the wrong direction. Stop working on features and ways to lock out admins and start fixing the major bugs!

Very poorly executed app. Odd interface. Should be merged with the red Scouting app. “Add Announcement” and “Scouting Calendar” are big buttons on the main screen. These haven’t been in use for years and have nothing to do with Scoutbook’s calendar or anything else.

How anybody ever imagined that computerized forms were better than paper I have no idea. This application certainly does not help prove that computers are worth more than toilet paper.

The Boy Scouts of America has app for the iPhone. Does not recognize your log in or pass word. Most pages are not mobile friendly.

Like most everything electronic that comes from National, this doesn’t work. Couldn’t complete YPT. Couldn’t even get this app to open.

Upgraded to a new iphone 14 pro, and the app stopped working. I login and the screen turns white and remains stuck there.

I understand that much of this app was created by/run by volunteers. I strongly encourage BSA to shell out the money to improve things. This app is abysmal.

I got the app. but I only get a few welcome screen and no place to sign in. I deleted it.

I agree with Sadie, as a District Commissioner I absolutely LOVED the features available to me in the original app. I particularly liked the ability to quickly access all my units and answer questions on the fly. The new version is too restrictive for a District Commissioner, it’s great for a Unit Commissioner, however, as a District Commissioner we need the ability to access more than the Simple Assessment, the original version was great at addressing those advanced features. I would recommend the app in the past, now I rarely use it because I have to bring my laptop to access the Commissioner Tools I need.

Thank you for the quick response with the glitch on one of my courses. Support looked into the issue. Sent out an alert about maintenance time the day it was shut down later I received an email notifying me of the resolution. Sadly I couldn’t login. Could have been my phone not sure. This time I called wasn’t waiting very long and within minutes I was logged back in. Thank you so much for all the knowledge I am receiving from this app for me to better myself, for my son, our den and pack. Great app. And the sync process is just the easiest thing ever. Not sure how it use to be but Thanks again for everything. Especially for the experience I can creat with my son, den, pack. God Bless.

I write software for a living so maybe I'm being a little bit harsh but this is the worst, and I mean the worst, app I have ever used. Think "making an app using Office 98" and you're only halfway there. I just imagine everyone at BSA HQ thought this looked amazing when it was running on their Compaq desktops with Windows ME... Just off the top of my head, here's the biggest sins: - The UI doesn't resize correctly when rotating. - The progress buttons are tiny and finicky. - The audio kicks in too late so you think it might have frozen. - The interactive elements of the training aren't aligned with the graphics at times so trying to find the next button you have to push in order to progress is a sadistic game of "Pin the tail on the donkey". - If you happen to find yourself on a screen where you need to scroll down to see the complete slide, be aware that you will not be able to scroll back up!!! You will need to leave the training and come back. Seriously!?! (On the plus side, it does save your progress, most of the time so this behavior can't be some sick interpretation of 'leave no trace'...) BSA, if you're reading this (***please read this***) find a contractor with a proven UI DESIGNER and a track record of successful cross-platform implementations before burning cash on another terrible tool! I am begging you.🙏🏻

This is a great start, but it was a little painful to use. The biggest problem was usability. On an iPad 2 AIr I found it difficult to get the full text or buttons to display in many places as I did the training. Drop downs to select A, B, C etc where frustratingly difficult to use. Some text was too small to select, even on a tablet. (For example, a list of the ideals in the scout law in tiny cursive text.) As a new Pack Committee Chair, it wasn’t obvious which training was most important and needed to be completed first. I figured it out, but the design could be cleaner and clearer when there are so many options and so much text. I hope this isn’t a one and done. QA and keep going!

A vast improvement over version 1, which wouldn't even open on my device. Fairly easy to use, but a few things need to be worked out: -- When taking training, it should be easier to move from module to module. It isn't obvious that you have to close a window every time a training module is completed. Why can't you just move automatically to the next module? -- Still too buggy. Too many hiccups in the course of training. I would think more beta testing would help. -- Generating reports in this app should be a breeze. Can't believe that I still need to go to the website to download reports from Training Manager or JTE.

Update: lost a star, I can’t see any my units rosters. I click on them and get the district. It offers the sub-districts as the district is two counties but I click on that and get a white screen. Click on change, hoping it will bring up the pack or the troop but no such luck! Beyond irritating as I don’t know how I’m supposed to utilize it as it is Thank you though for the fingerprint sign-in! I can’t do anything with the app but I can sign in easily!! ⭐️ I used the old app all the time as both a Unit Commissioner and District Training Chair. I found it useful to see each units rosters and especially YPT. Frequently throughout the year I’d email units a congratulations for everyone being YPT compliant or reminders that YPT was expired or would soon be expired. I saw a jump in compliance when I started doing that coupled with offering group YPT training to units. Please bring back the YPT gage and open up the unit views for Unit Commissioners and Training Chairs at least! Its fairly useless to me otherwise. Also add on fingerprint sign-on!!

I have quickly found a lot of useful data including Unit and Commissioner tools, and online training. It’s great that I can complete training on my smart phone. This is a big improvement over training of the past. It is challenging how many clicks it takes to complete the training though. I navigated through 12 clicks from logon to the start of a module, and then another six clicks to get from one module to another. This adds substantial time and overhead to the training. With some user enhancements, this app will continue to be useful for many scouters.

I see so many complaints and can’t help but wonder why? The occasional bug should be expected and they are getting corrected so why complain? Report it and give it some time. Ignorant comments just make you look foolish. Jeesh! The app has worked well for me and is coming along nicely. Keep adding features and it will be fantastic. In the future some roster section add ons would be cool. When you click on the leader or scout name a completed training and awards section/drop down would be awesome. Thanks.

Their is know way this app was beta tested as Scouting Wire indicated. WE ARE THEIR BETA TESTERS!! I had to watch the first module twice. Figured out that the questions wouldn't show up in landscape mode. Eventually made it to module two were the video disappeared and the video scenarios were blank, but the audio would still play. Also the in module two, the questions/answers would appear but the submit words were missing (red background present). The correct or wrong answers notification didn't appear. I have a iPhone 7 plus running iOS 10.3.3.

I tried it for the online training for the first time this weekend. At first it took some time Audio on the iPhone is controlled by your phone silence feature that took a bit to get use to. Logging in after every few videos got old after while. It was also difficult to add classes to do training on but got it done. All in all, going the right way, just a few bugs but will get better with time. Thanks.

Youth protection training is a critical component of modern Scouting, you cannot go on a trip with your own kid unless you’ve taken the course. If you take the course on this horrific app, you will lose all progress if anything causes you to exit the app. If you have to take a phone call, respond to a text, respond to email, if you leave the app, all of the time you invested in youth protection training will be gone. I want my time back, but I know I won’t get it, I’ll just get a bunch of excuses from developers too lazy to make their product work. I am furious. Do NOT download this piece of garbage.

This app continues to dissapoint me. It seems to be missing basic functionality that I would imagine would be easy to do. Right now I want to take my youth protection training but every time I go to the traning portal it gives me errors about api calls being invalid. This is not a one time event this is constantly the problems it’s giving me. I don’t understand why every app national releases has these problems. If they stopped changing apps and instead would work on fixing the ones they have already put out people would not be having these problems.

I liked being able to take courses via my mobile device. Those of us who have out dated computers and use them strictly for word processing are at a loss when we have to do something like this on our computer at home. It is tough when we cannot access it through our phones which we have on us all of the time. Otherwise I have no problems.

The idea of this app is great, however, many, many problems exist. 1) offers links to training that do not work well on a mobile device 2) if a Scouter has more than one active position, the app completely breaks. Now that I am a Nova Counselor and Supernova Mentor, I can no longer access my Cubmaster functions. 3) will only allow you to export one wallet ID at a time. If I try to export Cubmaster, then Nova or Supernova ID card to Wallet, only the most recent ID card is retained. 4) layout looks like it was done by a Highschool student with no design experience. If it actually was made by a Highschool student (always a possibility with the BSA), they should have been provided with guidance on proper human interface design. 5) Functionality is buried to deep to be of much use.

The application is potentially a very useful tool. As far as applications go, it has a long way to go but is a good start. I encourage the folks at BSA to continue improvement in terms of full functionality for retrieving information and records. Users are encouraged to download and use the application and send BSA clear recommendations for improvement. I have done this separately but you can do it in this comment section if you wish.

The app has some promise—how great would it be if we could actually do things with a mobile app, see results in real time (okay, near real time), and not have to click through multiple layers of intermediate layers. So, when I saw the “new version, please update,” message, I was hopeful. That was before I tried repeatedly to update the app only to have it loop me between the app button on my screen and the update button in the App Store. Over and over, different days, different devices, no joy. You’ve got to do better, especially for our Scouts.

I do not use this APP on my phone but instead on my iPad as when I do reading an go through the tutorials I like to be relaxed an not in front of a computer (workstation). The only thing I do not care for is the APP launches links to external browsers instead of keeping the session within the APP. I guess using the web browsers to launch content is for adaptability across multiple platforms.

Went through about 7 modules of Cubmaster position specific training and had no issues. Was able to pause and come back to spot where I had left off. The app had correct data for the modules I had previously completed and was seamless in telling me exactly what I needed to finish.

App wise it is nice to have access to completion dates, expiration dates, certificates, and ID number at the tap of a finger. However I would like to see the announcements delay resolved. I would also like to see the calendar events from the Scoutmaster account cross over (sync) to unit member calendars. The app access to training is basically the same as if you were trying to do it on the computer. Too many handoffs to other pages.

This app will randomly start sending me notifications that there are new leads or applications even though I worked them days ago. The notifications will keep coming until there’s over 100 in an hour. I’ve already deleted and reinstalled the app and this keeps happening. I’d love the notifications if they were legit, but they never have been.

There is no way to allow another commissioner to enter data for another commissioner like you can with the website. This is a must for a Commissioner to be able to create a visit of a unit they are not assigned too. With the App you can not enter a visit unless you are assigned. This needs to be fixed!! Also we need the iPad version of this app to be able to rotate the screen

I am Magine the app is a work in progress, but what initially attracted me to it is the access to training modules so that I would not have to log into the website. However, the training modules are not well integrated, nor do they fit well into a device screen. Basically, you were routed to a full webpage and you are left to resize the screen to fit your device.

Just downloaded version 2.0.15. Got right into youth protection. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is I haven't given it a full test drive. I'll update to five stars once I successfully do a couple of training deals. What I -know- works is my training records are correct. I login in without problems. Using an iPod touch iOS 11. Yours in scouting...
