I’m not sure whether it’s the app alone or the company in general since I called this morning when their app didn’t work, and they said they were “doing routine maintenance” and that I wouldn’t be able to remotely turn off my alarm from my phone “from the early morning until around noon.” So, because they can’t do their work in the middle of the night when it would pose minimal disruptions to their customers, I have to go downstairs and set off the alarm waking up my whole household to use the manual keypad. This happens at least four or five times a year. Sometimes for reasons like this and sometimes because the app just can’t connect to the device. They definitely need to work on this app to make it better and it minimize things like this to their customers at times when they know people need to be able to turn off their alarms.
Have had this app for years and find out upon changing my service contract that not only will I have a separate service charge just for having the app but I have been getting charged for it for years?! Was never told about this when taking up the contract initially, just that it’s an “easy app” to use to alarm. Never mind the fact the app doesn’t work half the time and constantly has to be rebooted. Hate it, ridiculous, and terrible customer service & management.
This company does not care about their customers at all! I would give this business no stars if I could! They sent a service man to our house to check our boiler and the man was extremely rude and belligerent! A company who could hire someone so horrid and do nothing about his behavior is the absolute worst! Would not recommend Slomin’s to anyone and would warn everyone I know not to sign up with them! Oh and on top of that, the app is simply garbage.
App doesn’t always connect to the system. So I can’t arm/disarm my alarm. App is also super slow! Sometimes it will load and show the system as it is armed but usually might show armed away when it’s not armed at all or the other way around. Both apps are trash and not helpful to use when arming the security system. Almost feels like they are a security breech.
The app is convenient to use — when it works, but it has stopped working a couple of times, and their customer service, while helpful, has had a hard time getting it working again. With an app like this, reliability is everything. Hence: one star.
From poor quality to simply unusable waste of time
This is truly to most disappointing choice of remote access security service I could have ever purchased. I’m so over the bogus updates and unusable software and minimally trained csr reps. Love and light but I’m done!!!
How you guys don’t have and update in two years then have two updates in a week and kill the whole app smh fix the correct problems Asap I currently can not monitor my home and that’s a REAL PROBLEM.
App does not connect to system or do anything for that matter. It’s been weeks. No info from company but they continue to collect full monitoring fees. Shameful!
I upgraded for the doorbell camera and remote connection. The camera works. The remote connection does not. Far too often, I’m unable to connect from my electronic device to the panel, even when I’m in my own home. I no longer have an upstairs panel and as another reviewer mentioned, I have to run to my panel once I’m downstairs to disengage the alarm before it goes off. They need to fix this. My friends with ADT do not have this problem.
Am I the only one whose iPhone app no longer works after the control panel radio upgrade a few months ago? Intermittently - and frequently - does not connect to panel from app. Numerous phone calls to customer service for troubleshooting, had a service call on site a few days ago, still crapping out on us, multiple iPhones of different generations (SE and 6S) affected, using both WiFi and cellular signals. Currently waiting for slomins to chat with their IT folks and call me back. Told that customers aren’t allowed to talk to IT there. Slomins app is our primary method of arming and disarming since our control panel is not near our usual entry door. Got mad at repeated phone calls over this issue and threatened to cancel service, and rep told us “No problem, we’ll just hit you with a four thousand dollar ($4,000) termination penalty, read your contract.” 😟😟😟
This app has gone from bad to terrible. I use it because I need to be able to engage/disengage our home alarm. The app is so simply designed yet it barely ever works. If it does work, it’s slow and cumbersome. Not sure what updates happened as of recent, but DAILY I receive messages that the app cannot connect to the security panel and to call Slomins. I call Slomins and they tel me to refresh the panel from within the app and that will will resolve the issue. What they failed to detail, is that you have to perform the aforementioned refresh multiple times and pray that it will allow you to connect. Slomins, why release such an awful undeveloped app? There is no way this should be in production; nonetheless charge your customers for this app connectivity. This is beyond poor.
I have been using this app for approximately 3 months now with utter frustration. To begin it has literally a 50 percent chance of actually working. When it fails to connect to my panel I will get a message "oops something went wrong connecting to your security panel, please contact customer service". When I called they tell me to refresh the panel which does not solve the problem. When the app does work, it takes an obsurd amount of time to arm or disarm the system. I can't definitively say if this is an app issue or bad hardware design. Wherever the fault lies, the app should not be released publicly and surely users should not have to pay for the service.
After going through and creating an account I tried to log on to this app. Nothing worked. Then I was told my account was not valid. So, I re-entered new account info online, went to the app and ta-da.....it still said everything was wrong. I stopped trying because I didn't want to confuse anything further. This app was supposed to be an integral part of the whole system so that you could be notified and keep an eye on things. Why doesn't it work? This is a huge company who charge premium prices, you would think they could get someone to competently build a very reliable app.
This app and system is a joke. The system you pay an outrageous amount for per month does not give you any extras. The app that’s offered is for managing your account and only allows to arm and disarm. Does not allow any notifications at all except if you pay 4$ extra/mo to get a notification if you arm/disarm. It keeps no log on your phone or in your account which doors/windows/detectors are being activated. Next alarm will not be through this company or ADT(had them when we moved in)They both are equal in the aspect of deficiency’s.
Such a scam - they somehow fix it while you’re on the phone with them but then when you hang up it’s not working again. Husband couldn’t believe it we changed password user name and nothing. Have called about this issue numerous times. Maybe it’s a feature costing them $$ I’m not sure but it makes me wonder how well they’re protecting my home if I can’t arm it while I’m away - how do I know alarm rings to them or that they’ll call me? I’m going to have to run more tests this weekend to see ... very frustrating!
This APP works great; however, it can improve by adding a feature in which you can monitor the events. For example if the front door was opened what time was open and closed. The status of the sensors as well. There are other APPs that have this feature so it shouldn’t be difficult to update on here. The data is already in the system.
This app is so slow. It takes forever to arm/disarm the system through the app. Whether I am using cellular data or wifi, it still take a good 40-60 seconds to complete a task. I also have to log into the app every few days. At first I thought it was every time they update the app I have to log in, but the app randomly signs me out on its own. It's frustrating when I am getting close to my home and want to disarm the system only to be greeted by a welcome screen on the app asking me to sign in.
This app is slow when it does work and awful when it doesn't. App goes down and you have no remote access. Ridiculous to pay for something that is only 1/4 reliable. SLOMINS needs to start over and rebuild this app. Notifications of events would also help greatly. Overall....Not worth the trouble.
It’s been Just over a year since we switched to Slomins and now my devices can’t connect to the home system (Coincidence?). I’ve re-installed the app, spoken to Slomin techs over the phone but they still can’t figure it out. Now I have to have a service tech come to the house at $79/hour plus parts to look at the system. It was suggested several different times that I purchase the protection plan to to keep from having to pay the tech. Think they’ve got a racket going!!!???
I recently updated my iPhone and iPad to iOS 15. Ever since then my Slomin’s app does not show live views. It still records activity which I can review but the only reason I can think of is the iOS 15 I updated to which stopped the Slomin’s app from showing live views. All it shows is a black screen. Help please.
Absolutely doesn’t work. I’ve tried downloading this app multiple times over the past 2 years, and every time it loops back to let’s get started. Have never been able to successfully log in using the app. I’ve contacted Slomin’s support & their suggestion was to log into my account through their website. It seems like they are unable to, or have no desire to fix this app.
Easy to use and great for controlling devices in my home. I just wish it had better performance when connecting to the panel for getting the current status.
My friend has adt and compared to their application this one is way outdated. I'm surprised because the actual equipment and service isn't. They need to upgrade their phone app to make it worth the cost per month. They should also not charge a monthly fee for it. Not worth it.
Since this latest update I can not use my phone to operate the system. This is not good. The old app for years worked great. Called the company and no one know what there talking about after I explain the problem. If this keeps up I’m switching to ring alarm. I have 7 ring cameras and always work great even with all the updates.
Every time I try to arm our system from my phone it tells me to call customer service. Even after I refresh the panel multiple times. Such a downer because one of the reasons we chose Slomins was because of the app. Very disappointed. Will probably switch companies when our contract is up to a company whose app actually works.
I love that I can control my alarm system, thermostats, and door lock. I can't believe how quickly it works. I had ADT in the past and this app is easier to use.
Slomins has moved to paperless billing ....which is great, except I don’t do on line billing, and you don’t provide an address. Why wouldn’t you provide an address? Don’t you want to get paid?
Ever since the last update, we cannot disarm our alarm from the app. I have to set the alarm off each morning by walking past the motion sensor and I can’t disable the alarm for my babysitter when she brings the kids home. Very frustrating, please advise and fix this!
Since the update, I am no longer able to use my phone as a remote access to my alarm system. I called Slomins 3 times and no one has been able to resolve the issue which appears to be an App issue. Please advise on what to do.
The app barely works and so does the camera. Really not sure what to because I need to feel secure in my home and be able to keep eyes on it. Also, when will the app allow us to add another person to the app to help watch over my safe place.
I can't believe that I can lock my door, arm my alarm, view live cameras and adjust the lights all with my phone. App is easy to use and pretty stable.
App works well to remotely turn alarm off/on. Not sure why they can’t send notifications to phone when alarm goes off. Seems like that would be really practical.
For the past 3 days I've had to run downstairs to set my alarm off to go disarm it. The app is constantly saying "try again" or it takes what seems to be 5 mins or more before it does what it is suppose to do. Good thing there haven't been any emergencies to speak of! This app rarely works!! 😡
Downloaded the app several days ago and all the screen can muster is a message reading "try again". I have not seen any of the functionality and customer service could do nothing more than tell me that it sounds like there is a problem.
The app would be fine if you were consistently able to connect to your panel. 50% of the time you are unable to connect. Disappointing and considering a change to another company.
