The app has come along way it’s great in doing the basics, letting you view your account and look at all news but I feel that the charting needs a lot of work. It’s hard to view the candles when everything such as the price levels and buy and sell buttons are so big taking up a lot of screen space
Lacks charting functionality and support. Only good for putting trades on
I’ve had NinjaTrader for well over a decade and thought it was a great idea that they’d finally made the move to have a mobile app. But this app still lacks a lot of functionality that you’d want in a trading platform. Plus no specific mobile support. I’ve dealt with NT support countless times before since NT (Windows) Platform is a very capable charting software. With that, support was great. Mobile app support, however, is really bad. The only thing they’d tell me is to “clear cache and you can search online on how to do that on your specific phone” and “delete and reinstall the app” which did not fix the problem. For charting: the only way to expand a chart and add actual indicators is to click on “market screen” which means if you don’t have depth of market data on a specific instrument you cannot see price on y axis when you expand the chart (even though you’ll see up to the minute price data on the small line chart of the watchlist) i.e. for crypto and forex pairs (which price data is free and available on most if not all trading platforms) and $TICK (which I wouldn’t need the depth of market data for) you’ll be able to see live price data on the small watchlist but not able to see it if you expand the chart *A lot of the 4-5 star reviews just talk about problems of the app.. so don’t know why they’re all clicking 4-5 stars
I have been trading options for quite a while and wanted to start trading futures this year. My research led me to NT, unfortunately coming from TD Ameritrade, i am devostated to find out that they have no OS software (only PC supported software) for desktop application. I found the web based trading platform not so friendly and not sufficient to actually chart and trade on. I tried downloading the app on my ipad and come to find out it is not designed for ipad in the sense that it does not provide anything extra to take advantage of the screen size and resolution. It is the same app as iphone, and you can only “magnify” the app to make it bigger on the screen. I have a pretty decent imac set up for trading so i am not willing to spend a lot of money for a pc setup just to be able to use their NT software on a pc. So unfortunately until they have a native software that supports OS/iOS, i will stick ToS. It is a shame for a company like NT, which i would in a way categorize as a tech/finance company, to be so much behind time as far as Apple device support goes. Otherwise they have great pricing and probably the lowest day time margin requirements.
It’s ok if your away from your pc and wanna check or check your longer term positions. I scalp and there is no way I’d use it. Either you can’t or I can’t find out how to draw trendlines or SR lines. Also the chart is hard to use. You can’t look back without zooming out which changes the candle time frames. I like that you can put order on quick but it’s hard to see where the candle will finish because to order covers the candle (say if you try to 1 tick above candle ) I love how TDA charts are on mobile, you could actually use it to trade I love NT on PC and hopefully with some improvements it would be at least feasible for me to do a trade or two with it if away from pc and a great setup set ups. A lot of work to do to become useful but it can be done if they put some more money and time in it (hopefully they do)
I just joined and was so excited to trade with NINJATRADER. Unfortunately, I had to get away from my screens today. When I checked the market via my phone, I was excited to get into a trade. Went into the NINJATRADER app and couldn’t even get the charts to move. Couldn’t even change the time interval. I opened and closed it 3 times, still couldn’t move the charts. Couldn’t place a trade not being able to see what’s to the left of the price action. Any other app out there, you don’t find this problem. Please get it together or I’m leaving for AMP futures with my 140K account.
I like Ninjatraders desktop app but charting with this mobile app is frustrating, especially for day trading where one wants to be able to work with multiple intraday time frames. The interface is clunky and not very intuitive. Some examples: The timeframe options are somewhat limited, especially if you like to see and trade futures on tick charts other than 500 ticks. While expanding charts to see different lengths of time possible, it is not at all easy if you need to change things quickly. I use candlestick charts. But I am red/green colorblind. The candles are in red and green and there doesn’t appear to be a way to adjust this. This makes it pretty difficult to see a chart clearly and accurately. On the positive side, Placing orders is relatively straightforward and there are a number of options for doing this. Also, some of the different views like depth, volume depth, basic info, etc is nice. I’d love to be able to use Ninjatrader on a mobile device on occasion but it needs work before that is possible for me.
I had traded futures on TOS for years. I know TOS inside out and backwards. My biggest hurdle is learning the NT8 platform, but I’ve been watching a video a day and now I’m 2 weeks in…I’m really starting to prefer NJ8. Couple things I don’t know how to do yet, but I’ll get them down and likely won’t open my TOS anymore except for stocks, which I generally don’t day trade anyway. 80% of my trades tend to be a scalps cause I kill losers or shaky trades fast. NT8 is awesome for a futures scalper. Great tools. I think I’m gonna like it here. And it’s WAY cheaper than TDA/Scwab!!
-Uncustomizable time frames? -Line charts only? -NO graphing/setting trendlines? -No way set up complex order logic, and orders are on a different screen so you can’t see where you’re going to sell? “We’re NinjaTrader’s app team, and we are here to lack everything you need!” Whoever designed this app was complete idiot as far as what is necessary for traders. It is absolutely astonishing to me given how helpful all other people on their forum and support teams have been! The app lets you modify the balance in your demo account and close orders, but that’s about it unless you are either insanely good with line charts or generally prefer to trade in a long term fashion off of Google charts… NinjaTrader is almost exclusively for day trading. So why isn’t your bloody app designed for day traders??? I mean, you honestly incur a penalty if you hold anything overnight! The app itself is not that complicated. Or useful. Deleted after 10 minutes - I will not be needing it even to CLOSE my trades because ALMOST NOBODY ON NT HOLDS OVERNIGHT! Who designed to zone out on the day of the design meeting?
The picture that are displayed in the app store are misleading and honestly a lie. There are no charts, only small line graphs on a markets list view. If you are looking to actually trade from your mobile device, this will not work. This app would more so serve the only purpose as account management and closing trades while not at computer. Making informed decisions to enter trades would not really be possible given the lack of information this app doesnt bring. I think marketing pictures of the app than having the app look nothing like that might be a violation of Apples terms honestly. Something Ninja should consider.
Even if you turned of notifications for news and all other they keep popping up. Think about so much news popping up and you need close one by one. How boring and distracting it is. In addition changing time frame doesn’t not update chart automatically you need get out of chart and get in again to see the change. It should be improved!!!
Ninja trader charting on the app is not user friendly - there’s non stop useless notifications that aren’t simple to manage. If you bounce out of the app and then back in you can not change X axis. Additionally when you set up a stop loss the arrow buttons to move up/down are so small to press, it’s impossible to move quickly during a good running profit trade. There is no bar counter for your charts nor any way to add trend lines. Unless they make some refreshing updates, I wouldn’t use NinjaTrader at this time. Looking at moving out of NinjaTrader and into something more user friendly
It’s a good app to check balance and or check positions. And check prices. NT needs to update it and at least make the charts bar charts instead of this line graphs they have. I’ve been a client for years. I’m really happy with their desktop platform and the whole client experience. However, this app makes TOS mobile look good.
Charts are great but they will liquidate your position anytime of day. You will lose. They charge tons of hidden fees, and make it really hard to profit from your trades. They decided one morning that they needed everyone to have 4x the required margin in 30min or they will liquidate your positions, which they did. You can't even deposit money into the account that fast. You have to wait 3 or 4 days for it to clear. Total scammers. You're better off using another broker who doesn't eat your profits and auto liquidate your positions on a wimb and they charge you $50 every time.
I’ve really never run into any problems with this mobile app. I can’t think of anything it’s lacking. It does the job just fine. I really enjoy it. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here then what you’re looking for doesn’t exist. This is a complete trading system. Not too many bells and whistles but simplicity that works.
This was the worst experience i had with a broker. The charts are weird, you need a subscription to trade (when they say “pay as you trade with no monthly fee, which is a lie), and the signup process was annoying. I should’ve listen to the other comments. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I wasted 2 days just to be told i need to have a subscription to trade, after jumping through hoops JUST TO GET THE ACCOUNT. I never write reviews, so you know this was a bad experience if I’m taking the time out of my day to write this. I’m hoping to have better luck with Oanda.
I wanted this app to be good, it’s just not. The user interface is terrible. Took me a long time to actually figure out how to get to the chart. And then I was disappointed by the chart. TradingView and others have proven mobile charts can be great, these are mediocre. Oh and the app is the same as Tradovate. I don’t know what the connection is there but it just seems like a rinse-repeat app. Probably great for tracking a trade made on your pc while you’re on the John, but terrible if you want to use it instead of a pc to trade. NT8 is awesome, this app is just not good.
Please locked the DOM to a fixed size. It is crazy that it keeps zooming in and out every time you scroll or resize the chart. It is impossible to enter any trades. If possible, separate chart and DOM to separate pages. It is trying to show both and excel at none. Better to keep one thing working.
I’m unable to see the 5 min or 10 min charts which I use on the desktop version. I’m unable to chart S & R and not able to add my indicators. This app is not user friendly and hard to navigate. Even the 15 minute chart doesn’t seem to update & move every 15 minutes. The candlesticks stay the same! The only thing this is good for is to keep track of your profit or loss of a current trade which is not really valuable.
This app got so much better since my critical review back in April. The developers have been putting in their hours, thank you. I will be working with this daily to gain full confidence. I only hope they can do something about the price levels to the right side of the chart because they don’t auto format on an iPhone, they’re just adding screen clutter.
I initially was very skeptical of this app, until several improvements were made, and I actually learned to utilize it for my benefit. It is great to carry with you once you have entered your order on your desktop, then track the progress with this app.
Love NT. Been using it for quite a while and recommend it. The desktop and net version are worth it. My only gripe is the mobile version freezes quite a bit forcing the user to reset the app. Yikes! Platform stability has to come first.
The app is simplistic, but perhaps too simplistic. There are very limited options for indicators, the charts often lose sync to live data and freeze (though your P/L will continue to update), the app crashes from time-to-time, and please tell me why my charts reset entirely and I lost all my indicators, price scaling, everything? Please fix the app, developers.
I’m happy NinjaTrader finally has an app. I’m not stupid enough to try trading from a phone with any broker, but it’s great to be able to check balances, close positions in an emergency, and look at the performance metrics and achievements!
Mobile app constantly freezes, charting is quite frankly nonexistent. Whenever I close the app to look at something else whether it be a phone call or text message or TradingView, Ninja Trader is always difficult to get back into. Other mobile platforms have definitely shown that a user friendly mobile interface can be developed. I wish I could give NT a Zero star.
Sometimes the chart will just disappear. And prices will freeze and not update, however you can still see your position P/L changing and updating. Navigating charts is very unintuitive as well. Changing views and timeframes is overly complicated. Often the scaling of the chart gets crazy and weird, I’m not sure why. Consider simplifying the chart scaling by allowing pinch/expand on the bottom axis time line. This seems to only work at random conditions which aren’t intuitive. Consider locking the price axis and time axis in correlation when changing scales. Adding indicators and changing timeframes is extremely unintuitive. That whole window is confusing.
The app deserves 3-4 stars, user interface is decent but could improve. Customer support on the other hand ignored my question in chat and told me they would email me. They then sent a bland email with the company terms and conditions which did not answer my question, it was just about the topic of my question. That’s why they got the one star.
NinjaTrader 7 and 8 user for last 25 years. I love the desktop and will never use anything else. Phone app should only be used to check market and your position. Trading on here would definitely wipe out your account. Hopefully, NinjaTrader will make phone app similar to their desktop version.
Hopefully they read this and add functionality for adding levels/zones, or just being able to draw anything in general. My advice would be to take a page out of motivewave’s book…make it a duplicate of the desktop version.
Application seems adequately equipped for trading futures. Actual brokerage account and funding is another story. Multiple attempts to login plus many obstacles to actually start trading. Subpar compared to thinkorswim from TD even with their transition to Schwab. Experiencing the same with Ironbeam. Plus DOM is a subscription.
Hi, when I swap to another app on my phone and then swap back to Ninjatrader, the chart is stuck on where I last saw it, not live. This makes it very inconvenient because I have to go back several menu options and then get back to the chart.
The foundation of the app is great, but the interface is the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Too much is obscure or covered up by notices you don’t want. Doesn’t tell you the important things, unless you go look for them. Maybe it works better on the giant iPhone, but in the typical Pro size, it’s cumbersome.
On the DOM screen, you’re supposed to do a long press then quick tap to place a limit order. It works maybe 1 out of 10 times (no exaggeration). Very frustrating. I’m seriously considering moving my account to a different broker.
To start the app was on point and stable. The past few days however, my app only provides a White screen that shows NOTHING. Of course this prevents me from doing any trading from my mobile device and I do not have the luxury of just sitting stagnant at a desk pc. Please find a fix to this problem!!!
You can have my lifetime plan payment NT Their app is really not working for me it will only load infinitely and not do anything but loading….. It’s the same for their web platform and desktop app Customer support/ tech support also not helpful. Over all I will never use and work with company.
Coming from using both CQG app and TradingView the NinjaTrader app UI is badly designed and harder to use. The charting visual doesn’t work at at well on a Mobile interface and I find myself only using the NinjaTrader app for order entry.
First you can’t change your banking information once you registered, you have to email them to change or remove your own bank account details(which is pain in neck) Because support system is super slow
Tried reporting a problem but they don’t allow that so I resort to here. App was working smooth but for the past day until now. The app doesn’t load at all and stays on a white screen with a loading symbol. Really hope they fix cause no one has helped yet.
App asks to enable biometric authentication EVERY time you log in. Very annoying. I find the trade interface to be terrible and the brackets are awful also. Fine for checking markets and orders you placed on the desktop version but that’s it.
The app is good just to watch any swing to long term, I used to trade and can’t close my order, get disconnected all the times, need to put password all the time even I have facial recognition
The good. -Easy to track and execute trades. - User friendly navigation. The needs improvement section. - Over heats my iPhone 14pro battery. - Freezes multiple times during every session , in a trade or not. - Cannot scroll backwards without reducing chart size to an unusable level. -Tick charts are off compared to my PC version of Ninja that I review my day on and set my trading rules.
Would be great to be able to manage trades on the app. It’s clunky, outdated, hard to use. Also doesn’t connect a majority of the time and that’s a problem with trading.
