NumberBarn

More than half the time I call someone the calls have no audio and I have to try again. They can hear me, but I can’t hear them, but if I connect my headphones suddenly it works. Had this issue with multiple phones now. Seems to be a VOIP issue (even though my internet is great), works much better with the “callback” option. Another issue, when it goes to voicemail it goes to the forwarded phone’s voicemail — not one specific to your new number, so if you use the default voicemail, it will announce the number it was forwarded to, not the numberbarn number.

This app has so much potential, but basic functionality on iOS is missing - for example, whenever I get a text message, there is no notification badge, so if I miss the banner, there is no way for me to know that I have a waiting text conversation. I checked and double checked all the notification settings on my phone and it looks like this is just a failure on the app side. It also has a place for contacts, but no way to link the app to the contacts on my phone, which effectively makes the “Contacts” section of the app useless because I’m not going to enter the thousands of contacts I have into this app, nor try to keep them up to date, manually, which is how it seems to work right now. Finally, whenever I get an incoming call, there is a noticeable delay in the dialogue, which inevitably always creates an awkward start to every conversation. Not sure if this is an app issue or a NumberBarn service issue, but it is frustrating either way. Ultimately, the app works, in that you can make calls, send and receive text messages, and manage your NumberBarn number settings, but everything about these functions is awkward and requires some sort of finagling and/or workaround. Hope the development team is continuing to improve this app.

Love that I have this option to use my parked number, but every time I use NumberBarn to make or receive calls, my calls are frequently dropped during my conversations. Very frustrating! Can someone please work on fixing the reliability of this??!!

As other users have reported many calls don’t ring to my phone, which is kind the whole point. Unlike at least one other, customer service has been unable to resolve my issue for over a year. They tell me it’s fixed and since only about half the calls don’t go through I don’t know that people have had to call 2 or 3 times to reach me unless the customer tells me. Then I jump back on with support and they tell me it’s fixed again. It’s an endless cycle that never solves the problem. I’d suggest finding a different service because they here are sneaky enough to let just enough calls come through that you may not notice for a very long time.

I echo Spechtaculyons comments. Whenever I make a call I have to hang up and call again since nothing happens the first time. Notifications don’t always work requiring a force quit of the app. Voice mail goes to the forwarded phone which can confuse callers if using the default message which is my preference.

I can only get voicemails for my toll free number…call forwarding doesn’t work right. They blame everyone but themselves and don’t try to fix it or figure out nor confirm what’s wrong.

Downloaded this app to send texts. You can’t start a new conversation in the app. It never lets you select the number to text when clicking it. If you start a conversation from the browser then you can continue it in the app however. Seems broken.

Amazing and very cheap to keep American number being abroad, receiving text and voice messages straight on my phone in the app. Poor app quality – extremely slow, dropping, unstable for calls.

I’ve tried many phone apps and services. So far I like these guys the best. Pricing is very fair too.

The sms feistier is barren in the app and doesn’t allow me to send any messages so far. That would be a BIG deal. That issue cost me $500 this morning but I’m confident a fix is coming.

Fixed my login… my fault Looks very pretty I’ll use it and I’ll update rating as I feel the need later. Everything seems to work, 2 problems. 1- cannot pull copied number up for text messages, works for calls only. 2- cannot send any photos through text messages, number barn classic still works for sending photos. Receive is OK.

I often lose the ability to send and receive messages and have to do some combination of restarting the app, turning phone on/off or uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I would not choose NumberBarn again.

Nice to be able to have both apps on the phone. After a quick look, I’d like to see the date and time of day of the voicemails and calls rather than just the length. Great functionality. Looking forward to continued development. Thank you!

The app, when it works is a pain to login to. It’s clunky and temperamental. I’m frustrated to the point of shopping around for another phone port service, even if I have to pay a little more.

There is better functionality than the previous app, but apparently there is no speakerphone option while on calls? This is a dealbreaker as I am often scheduling clients on a different app while on the phone. I will be looking for a different service if this feature isn’t resolved. Edit added 7/2023 - The speakphone option did start working, but there still isn’t a speakphone option when listening to voicemails. Sometimes voicemails come into the app, sometimes they show in my phone VM. Biggest issue is that I can’t send any texts since a week or so ago. And draft texts will often refresh mid draft and erase everything I’ve typed. If texting issues are not fixed soon I’ll take my business elsewhere. For a while, my phone wouldn’t even ring when customers called, despite not changing any settings on my end. After a few days of customer service and lots of settings adjustments, it works again. Customer service was attentive but the app still fees buggy and clunky.

Way to go. Very user friendly app.

Great service with a great app. Which as of this writing, it does.

Just downloaded it and when I open the app it’s stuck on a login screen but I don’t have an account yet, and since it’s stuck I can’t make one :(

It’s like they didn’t read the very basics of iOS development. Notifications don’t work, login doesn’t use the iOS keychain. Also why no incoming calls? Basics.
