This bank is a great bank. The only problem I have is that the app takes forever to turn on and off your card when making purchases and frequently crashes if you can improve the app where you can easily access it like they do on say Cash App or Chime or you are able to turn your card on and off more quickly. This would be a fantastic app.
So the app barely works. It glitches way too often which is why I gave the app a rating of 2 stars. It freezes on certain functions. It keeps loading when I tap on the card function at the bottom menu. I had to set up Face ID twice cuz apparently it didn’t save my preference the last time. Stuff like that just isn’t working smoothly as you would hope a banking app would at this point. If you really need to get banking info on the go well it does that sometimes, I guess (if it doesn’t freeze on you) but I would use the website login instead to get stuff done until their IT gets the app going way better. And also the fact that you can’t get any of the loan info from Flagstar on this “new and improved” app is ridiculous. I should be able to go to one app for this bank and get mobile access to ALL accounts in one place. So yeah, ummm the mailed notice about this app being an “enhanced online banking and mobile app” is a straight up lie or this bank needs to sit down with their IT leadership and get real with them cuz it’s embarrassing.
When I click to see Statement it shows Loading and the screen flashes annoyingly as if you're in a disco! Then you can see pdf but nowhere does it show a way to Print or even download. The latest update did not help at all. Update: I called to see if someone in the bank could help... first you have to press 1 to get a callback because no one is available. Next you wait and speak to someone who has lousy headphones that you can barely hear but they can't help. You get transferred to someone else who has no idea how an iPad app works. You hang up and after much searching, find a download command. Press download and minutes later it still shows Loading but it's taking forever and quite possibly will never happen, so you give up. FYI, a glitch in their system sent me 5 emails saying my statement (for one account) is ready. Months later and app still does nothing but show Loading if I try to see statement.
So I guess it’s my turn to get slammed by the issues plaguing others. The mobile app won’t let me in 95% of the time because of “my disc being full” (it’s not), or “connectivity issues” (I have none). Then when I try to go on the desktop app, even though it recognizes my user ID and password, it tries to force me to answer a security question. Problem is, the security question it’s asking me is not one of the ones I set up. The desktop app seems to have created it’s own question which I have no idea what the answer is. And I thought it was bad when the app stopped giving me the balance update messages I asked it to do (it stopped doing that about two years ago). This situation is seriously causing me to consider switching to Chase when the Chase across the street from my local NYCB opens. NYCB needs to get it’s act together immediately.
Is there a 0 star rating? Update? Really? If you are updating something, doesn’t that usually mean improvements? Not with this. It was ancient before the update and now is even more archaic. Worst app ever. My balance on the app does not agree with what’s on the website on the same day. How is that even possible if it’s the same systems? Your only saving grace is now you have Zelle. But other banks have had that for years. You are so far behind the times. The other banks will be moving on to bigger and better and NYCB will just be catching up. Another disappointment. As of 12/30 I can’t use the app that I have been using for years. No I didn’t change my password or user id. I logged on through the website and received a text message to my cell phone number that the app says it can’t verify, so how did they send the text?
It actually loads now but still needs to fix issues with using Zelle
I wasn’t able to use this app at all before the last update. It would simply sign in and crash instantly. With this last update I am able to actually sign in and utilize the app. So far so good except whenever I need to Zelle someone…CRASH! Not again!! Please fix the issues with the app in regards to Zelle. What’s the point of having the convenience of an app if you have to end up going online to do your banking anyway? I’ll still give it 4 stars because it works to do other banking needs.
Do yourself a favor and look for another account. Don’t even consider this trash banking place. The app is horrible. Anyway, I just opened an account, realized this is such a horrible company and Zelled my money back to my account. I canceled it because it had taken over 5 days with no money received only to get my account suspended. Got resolved after a week and supposedly all was well right? WRONG! My money supposedly was back in my account and tried Zelling it back only to have it fail because “there’s no money” and you guessed it… account suspended again!!!!! DO NOT EVEN BOTHER THIS BANK WILL ONLY BRING YOU INCONVENIENCE AND STRESS. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!! The support call people seem nice but overall I’d mark this bank as INCOMPETENT AND TRASH. 0/10.
I’ve been using NYCB for 20 years. This app is awful. Couldn’t get my business account online because of so many ridiculous stipulants . There always seems to be missing money from my account. Ridiculous fees. The in person banking is only reason I still use them. They do have nice people in my local branch
My husband has been with this bank for 30+ years. I’ve been using them for almost 15. Since the app was updated It pops the message that my info cannot be verified and prompts to call the bank without me even trying to put my ID and password. I tried to log in to my online account and it doesn’t allow me to log in either. I called the bank and was on hold with awful screeching sounds over the elevator music for 1 hour 15 minutes and lost my patients. I will call today again. But I’m seriously considering to switch to another bank. It’s disrespectful to loyal customers. I feel like I’m in the third world country. What kind of banking is it when I can’t use my money and can’t talk to anyone?!!
Apparently NJ unemployment is using this bank for the deposit of your claim the thing is the app does not work for it ..I called customer service and they said in order for me to check my balance I have to call the number on the bank of the card that takes 5min to put in input thru the automated system ..WHAT? We have no option to manage our funds or transfer to link accounts this is horrible..So basically I have to go to a ATM and remove all the funds . It was Bank of America at first and I had no issue with this I could check my balance transfer money pay bills this Bank app is worthless…Oh and the nearest branch near me is 48min away ..
Half the time the app says your credentials aren’t correct even if you legit just reset your passcode. I do understand that glitches can come with updates and that nobody is perfect with design but it’s pretty frequent that this bank give me some form of software problem the previous was for about a month my card would get locked anytime I used it…. Legit anywhere. I would always be blamed for this even though the 20 times I called it was because the same transaction from a month ago kept a flagging my account anytime I used my card….again software and technology problems out the fricken wazoooooo
I have used this app for years and though it was outdated, it did its job. Ever since the last major update I have been unable to log in using the app. I called customer service and they have confirmed the app no longer allows passwords with multiple special characters (even though the website does). The end result was the rep telling me to remove special characters from my password thus making the experience less secure. The solution is to make the banking app more secure, not dumb down the passwords. Would give 0 stars if I could, I will never use this app and may change banks after finding out about the lack of concern for security.

This bank is slow at crediting your funds to your account, I think they do this so they can use your money for free within the transaction window timeframe. I lost 5 days of interest, even with the .03% apr increase it’ll take me 2 months just to break even on the interest lost. Customer service basically said “ this how we do business”. My wife was going to open an account here also, but she’s just going to leave her money at UFB instead. Kinda wish I had also.
Laughable service!. After the last update the app doesn’t work, it crashes instantly and won’t allow me to login, the website also has problematic issues and gets stuck on the secret question screen even after answering it. I can’t even reset the password because of this!. Do something!.
And what horrible customer service. I find it incredibly hard to believe that they would release this app with so many bugs and glitches. The app crashes. The app continually makes you sign in manually. Face ID doesn’t work. And it frequently makes you register your info. The worst part. The absolute worst part is that you are not able to speak with a human being in customer service. Of course I guess that makes sense. They are all too busy fielding the 1,000’s of phone calls. This has to be zero stars.
I’ve had no problems until I updated my phone to the latest IOS system. Ever since the update the app crashes before anything loads. I’ve restarted my phone and reinstalled the app to no avail
Between two days, over 3 1/2 hours on the phone with customer support. External transfer system completely unreliable, many times doesn’t work, and if a fraud representative needs to review it they will “attempt“ to reach you to confirm transaction. They won’t leave a message, and if they can’t reach you they will immediately cancel the transaction. If you’re getting a savings account for the interest rate, treat it like a CD. Because if you need reliable access to those funds, find another bank.
After last maintenance I have yet to be able to long into my account without changing my password. I know my new password every time yet I get a message saying it is wrong. In between logins I do not receive emails or texts saying my password has been changed yet every time it says my information is incorrect. This is not only inconvenient but a waste of my time as I am just making sure I have my money to pay my bills each month.
I’ve been forced to deal with this terrible bank since they took over my mortgage and it has been a nightmare for years now. So many roadblocks; every process fails or gets delayed. I can’t access my bank account and the app/site won’t send recovery details to my email. Website won’t let me make payments with a different bank account, or even with the Flagstar bank account I was scammed into making. Very convenient for them to charge late fees. Can’t tell if these people are inept or corrupt.
This app is awful and their customer service is not up to the task when their app fails to deliver. Why can’t I print monthly statements from my mobile phone? I can do it through my laptop. Why can’t I Zelle money to my own account at another bank? I did it a month ago but not today. Spent about two hours on the phone today to no avail. Customer service eventually advised me to use a paper check to effect the transfer. Customer service people were really nice but ultimately not able to help. They’re saddled with the poor technology as I am.
It’s been a couple days now since the new system work was supposedly completed, yet now with the new update I can’t even login to my account. It says it can’t validate my credentials. Won’t work on the website either, so I guess the entire new system has bugs still? Can’t even change password or anything. I’ve been considering changing to a bigger name bank for a while now, and this issue might be the one to finally make me do it if it’s not resolved soon.
The previous flagstar was garbage. This one is smooth and has no bugs compared to the previous one. I was going to leave flagstar due to their website and app being garbage but changed my mind now.
The old app was so nice. So simple, easy to use. Excellent functionality. The new app is so much more difficult. Clunky, not intuitive. Font and coloring make trying to read anything horrible. More steps, trying to fit too much information in too little an area. Seems as if they are trying to duplicate info from a statement, but not necessary in an app. Just want to see my balances, did my check clear? That is all. Some may find it an improvement. I am sorry I updated.
The entire reason I would get an app for banking is to get push notifications when there are charges that come through to my account. Well, for whatever silly reason, you can't get notifications until the transactions actually POST - there is no way to get notifications of pending charges as soon as they appear (ie, what really matters for staying on top of your account)! Fix this issue and I'll increase the score to 5 stars.
The new mobile app is terrible. It is so much harder to navigate than the last version. It is also down more than it is available. I have had to uninstall and reinstall this so many times that it isn’t worth the stress because it often still doesn’t work. I am so disappointed in the quality of convenience and accessibility. I am in the process of switching banks. I cannot be without access to my money!
Impossible for update on a timely manner. Each time this site “updates” things become more difficult. In the meanwhile, cannot access my account info. Please stop “improving”! Do not have all day to get personal info and apparently there is no access until site is fixed. I am abroad right now & will not pick up phone to be put on hold or have call returned or stumble from one person to another. Get your act together
first of all, the text is EXTREMELY tiny so i can barely read any of my account information. secondly, it won’t even show a login screen half of the time. i’m forced to repeatedly restart my phone in order for the app to even display an option to get in. the old version was wayyyy better, much more simplistic and legible. the old saying “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” applies heavily here. pretty frustrating.
Ever since I updated the app, I get kicked out of it while I’m in the middle of using it. This has happened several times and only after being logged on for less than 30 Seconds. I get a message that my session was timed out due to inactivity! But I was literally using the app to complete a transaction and had been on for less than a minute! Fix this please!
I really like this new update way better than the last one. I like the new new features and the fact that I can lock my card from the app without calling customer service to do it for me. NICE MERGE!😊
The chat window closes as soon as I click away and I have to restart the process every time. There’s no way to avoid the chat closing because the website times you out, but when you click to continue using the website, the chat closes because you clicked on something else. It’s impossible to get a hold of anyone. They don’t message back either.
I’ve made numerous phone calls and sent emails to get a fraud alert flag cleared on my account, and although I was assured that my case was put into a high priority status, it still has not been resolved (going into the third month now.) I cannot access my account and I still have automatic withdrawals coming out of my checking account that are going into this savings account which I can’t access.
It’s been 8 days that I’ve tried logging into the app with no help from anyone. The branch can’t help u, no one answers the 800 number or it shuts after 20 mins on hold, the system and website is outdated and keeps getting system errors for me to log in. Tired of the baloney... I’m switching back to chase tomorrow. My friends love chase and their app is a million times better. Shame cause I’ve been with this bank for years but today was the final nail in the coffin
I’ve been a customer for about 10 years and this upgrade hasn’t let me sign in yet! I’ve deleted and downloaded it multiple times. They have changed my access to accounts with no way of getting help. Haven’t been able to access my account in 5 days. Don’t waste your time with this. I officially changed banks today can’t deal with this out of date bank and it’s so called new app
It looks better than the old app but it really isn’t better than the old app. There are times when I can’t even login because it says there’s some type of error. I’m not sure if it’s my fault and if it is I hope I can’t figure out why because it’s very frustrating. Makes me consider switching banks at times.
The app no longer supports the instant balance widget. I’ve tried the chat service three times receiving the message that chat staff is unavailable. I’ve had to reinstall the app and it’s still randomly not recognizing my credentials or Face ID isn’t working. I then followed up by logging in online to find my account wouldn’t display any transactions at all…almost done with Flagstar in general.
I hardly liked that banking app before this merger/update but this new one is awful. I love black, my phone is on black mode along with fb but this, this is painful to look at. Y’all added the ability to see your account number which is awesome but to away the ability to see pending deposits and transactions.
I’d give zero stars if I could. App hasn’t worked in years. Won’t let me log in and keeps giving me an error message. Constantly telling me “come back after they rectify the issue” I’ve called the bank numerous times but no one can ever help me. Tell me “they are updating the app and the problem will go away” ummmm no it hasn’t. Problems like this make me want to change banks.
It’s a good app but they should really put it on the Apple Watch that way people can check their balance without going on their phones and they can check it quickly
The new “update” only runs on a 13.0 iOS so anyone that doesn’t have that has been wiped out from any device that doesn’t carry that!!! I had to get on my son’s computer to search for the website to access my account. I have been a customer for 20 years and will now be looking for a bank that I can access through my app!! All they said was sorry
Facial ID won’t work. It’s not my phone because it works on every other app and yes it is turned on on my app. Facial ID works when I log directly onto the site but not on the app. I couldn’t find a support number or email for tech issues.
It used to work all the time but after the merge there’s a new issue every week, and half the time you can’t log in, it was working perfectly before but now there’s so many issues that it’s hard to recommend banking with them because their app is so unreliable plus there used to be an instant balance widget and they got rid of it
This app use to let you in about 20% of the time you attempted before ultimately crashing. But, after this new update - It does not even make it past the log in page and then crashes/errors. The developers who created this app should be relieved of their position because this app never improves, it only gets more glitchy and problematic.
I can’t even see what’s pending a deposit into my account. This app is very annoying, and this whole change of “look” with merging banks, is also very frustrating, and annoying. Especially when you’re “updating your app” but make us redownload a whole other app.
I’ve been recently having problems just logging into the app. For some reason it won’t let me and it keeps saying “ If you are experiencing an issue accessing NYCB Mobile, please try to login to NYCB Online via our website. If you are unable to login to NYCB Online as well, please try again later as we work to rectify the issue.” It’s been like this for almost 2 months… FIX THE APP!!!
I had to delete the app, shut down my phone, restart my phone and download the app 4 times so far. It keeps saying there is a problem with connectivity. Or sometimes it says nothing, just displaying the photo of the building. This is VERY frustrating especially because the closest physical bank is 100 miles away from my home. That’s a long drive to make a transaction!
App doesn’t show the apy and doesn’t show whether the depositing money is generating the apy while it’s still on the way. The chat doesn’t work, says it’s open m-f 8-4 est but I’m using it during those times and it says it’s unavailable and just closes. The 9 day business hold is annoying and just worth using this bank. The interface is outdated!
