My first experience and it seems like a good way to do things! (For both host and renter) I like the flexibility and professionalism of renting this way. This method also seems like it could provide more safety to the renting experience. I’m a STAR on the Rise and I feel like PadSplit will help me achieve my life goals!
The customer service is horrible. I’ve stayed in PadSplit before and it was straight. I’ve recently had to get out of my living situation to start on my own one. The customer service representatives barely speak English and are going to read from a script the ENTIRE time they talk to you. They don’t do no type of trouble shooting. Miriel don’t even do her job I done sent 2 months worth of my pay stubs to her 3 different times spanning from the 20th to the 27th each time she replies saying the same exact thing. Not telling me what’s wrong with what I sent but instead telling me what to send. Even though I already sent my paystubs and ID. My ID already got verified and approved. But of course 4th times a charm miriel reset the entire thing my ENTIRE ACCOUNT. Now I have to send everything AGAIN. I have all of the emails to prove what I’m saying. I wish it was a law in place for customers that can only talk to people of their native language cause I’m pretty sure they couldn’t understand any of the English besides what they were reading from that script.
I recommend this housing option for anyone who needs a quick plan out of any type of situation you are in but please be weary of the app rules and pad mates you choose to engage with. Run fast if on your first day they start telling you about other people that were before and just do not trust anyone really. Keep to yourself. I deal with the master bedroom pad mate who thinks because he has the pad mate hosts personal number he can regulate and break rules also because he makes money. Be mindful of who you engage with and if they are toxic you should leave before they start to mess with you. When you come in inspect the whole house because my pad mates planted things in the house to see if I would clean it just to mess with me but I did because I read the rules. If they leave their items out don’t even fret or Take pictures just throw it away good condition or not because they should know better. All of a sudden doorknobs will get “loose” just be careful people are weird and do not trust everyone.
Applied for 2 properties off this platform, called customer service for at-least an answer why, since the host doesn’t communicate. They proceed to tell me the host can choose what people they like since it’s there home. Keep in mind this host has 5 properties on this 1 site with open rooms he cant rent out because of who know what reason because customer service doesn’t know, they just answer phone calls. Not sure if I would recommend this to anyone. Why have a platform dedicated to helping and assisting people when all your gonna do is profile us and discriminate against us and not give answer to why you did what you did. Find somewhere else or another platform cause this one isn’t really helping anyone.
It seems like a good option starting out, once you actually get into housing, in my experience customers service for padsplit renters is half ssa, and there are no real solutions. Once you pay that deposit, it’s basically all about the money regardless of any maintenance issue request you put in. I didn’t feel heard. It seems as though they take whatever the host says as facts. It doesn’t seem as though the houses and rooms are fully inspected, and once they clear the house as good, any requests you put in go unheard because their system is saying the house was cleared. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless it’s a last option. If I could find a extended stay near a train station, I would rather pay more than to be inconvenienced.
I was placed in a house with rats. The host had no interest in paying for an exterminator. He sent some guy to look at all the rat droppings, and pretend to clean it up. He didn’t spray, he didn’t set traps. The host closed the maintenance ticket. I contacted PadSplit customer service and I requested to be put in a different house. I stated that I would be needing a free week of rent because I do not want to pay a man who just tried to trick us. I was told I need to pay this man before I can be re-located. I wouldn’t have any problem paying him if he was respectful enough to send us A REAL EXTERMINATOR. I told PadSplit I was living with rats and the host isn’t doing anything about it. THEY DO NOT CARE if they place you in a house with rats.
Unseen Dangers,Fake Profiles of Location And Housemates

They are a fraudulent company that tries to hold you to a lease even if you have been with them for over two months. Somehow they tired renewing my agreement and told me I have to stay an additional full month. I had to leave the platform due to the lack of action taken towards black tenants who complied about a racist Padmate . Nothing was done dispute their policy stating they take these kinds of issues seriously. Stay away from this platform at all cost. Not to mention they promised me a refund and when it was all said and done they tried charging me over $600 in rents despite me not renting with them. Stay away! 🏃♂️💨💨💨
Honestly, regretting how I spent the amount of money I did on renting a tiny room with a ridiculous amount of drama and constant thefts arguments and disputes when I could’ve just stayed at a shelter or something. I had a roommate that has codes to all the rooms (PadSplit support confirmed this shouldn’t be the case) that our host empowered to be a live in landlord. They would linger outside doors and constantly be on the phone with our host over the smallest of things We had people vandalizing the ac unit, smoking weed in the house, sneaking people in, coming back after they were evicted, breaking things from fighting, loudly hooking up in the bathroom, the list goes on. The app itself crashes constantly and you’re better off using the desktop version of the website, but even then it’s a toss up if the right pages will load. You’re better off sleeping in a tent somewhere.
I actually really like my Room Mates, I don’t want to change houses, but it’s my first day and there’s already no hot water for any of us downstairs. Besides Maintenance, I really enjoy the area I chose- the house- and I love that I get along with all of these strangers so far right off the Bat.
Confortable / quietness I like / no one medle in your affairs my pad mate we barely see each other.. everyone is busy working and mind their business when at home.. The only thing is there need to be quiet some pot in the kitchen to at least boil water or make an omelette 😂 that’s the only thing that need improvement.
This company is a big fat joke. Their customer service is trash and they should not even exist. My experience with them was horrible and very disheartening. They wouldn’t listen to anything you had to say, but would believe anything someone told them concerning you. The living conditions that they have people living in and expect you to continue on living their. There’s a lot of dysfunctional people that they allow to live in these places. It’s extremely scary and dangerous.
This couldn’t have been the best move for my temporary stay I’m enjoying the new environment and the process was productive I really appreciate the opportunity to share your padsplit experience.
I signed up and applied and they claimed they “weren’t able to verify my identity.” Well I’m a real person and a citizen of the U.S. and I gave them completely accurate information and my ID and SSN. So they completely wasted my time and clearly there is something wrong with their identity verification process.
Everytime I call customer service it’s always something. I stayed with padsplit and some of the people I stay with is terrible. This whole padsplit experience has been devastating. I’ll never stay in another padsplit ever again ..
This app is fraud and they will scammed you. You’ll need work verification to rent a room for a week. Majority of the places are awful unkept and have no furniture. You better off at a Airbnb. They’ll take your money and deny you. They stole my $19 twice. They denied me because of my email and refused to refund me.
Honestly, it's a good idea until you move in. I didn't think that these were long term housing alternatives. However, it is widely used by others as permeate housing. Beware
The idea of the App is an appealing one👍but there is way too many careless host & landlords who takes too long to repair things at the house, is a constant disappointment dealing with neglectful owners.
Do not use this app They will charge you 16 $for background check After that in few seconds deny the application I used my friend s too same They want to scam 16 $ Do not use it Use ARBNB
PadSplit is the only current solution for affordable housing for single adults. Being a California native, all the bad reviews are misleading. LA is obviously expensive. But PadSplit in ATL gives people an opportunity and access to live on their own. There is minimal communication between homeowners, which truthfully isn’t needed. All the rooms are furnished, full kitchens, full bathrooms, full utilities for one set price on the app. If there’s any issues, then the app is available 24/7 to make requests. It’s just like any other tech-housing app. For anyone opposing, I doubt they have anything better in mind. PadSplit is very solution-based and I highly recommend.
if i could give -0 stars i would this place is such a flake stealing fake pictures manipulating and deceiving people as if their property are newly renovated i moved into a property got the property information the day of move-in date and the property was out of style very dirty from top to bottom roach infested dust mites odor stench my room in particular had no light bulb the window seals were dirty and dusty the walls were chipping paint the blinds were filthy they gave me a stiff mail bed dead roaches in the window seals no batteries in the smoke detector wood floors non-polished cob webs in the corner of the walls the place was tragic then they had the audacity to tell me i had to wait 24-48 hours to get a transfer made up false claims about hosts visiting the property once i left i had no contact for hosts membership services barely speak English no offense just a whole lie don’t ever move in a place were you can’t visit the property days in advance to check out the property padsplit SHOULD NOT be in business poor bad business .
I had to move out of my towne home due to some last minute circumstances and two days before my move out date I was stressing to find a place still…then I downloaded this app and booked a room that same day. I don’t know what I’d be doing right now, without my friend, telling me about this app!!! They arranged everything nice and the rules and systems to keep the Home orderly no matter how many padmates you have is affective! Thank you PadSplit!!
Somehow my bad reviews keep getting removed…. lol. I wish I never moved into one of these places because they lock you in a monthly lease & if you move out in the middle of the month it’s a $300 move out fee. My house is horrible simply because there’s no common areas in the house which would be nice if you actually want to get to know the people you’re living with. The only area that could be a common area is the garage but we just got informed by the owner we’re not allowed to store any items in there or it will be thrown away making it a total waste of space. At the end of the day I recommend looking for a room to rent elsewhere there are plenty of other sources that where you can leave with good credit & won’t require a lease.
Some of the homes advertise as newly renovated but they are not. You’ll get there and there are marks/stains on the walls, glass missing from the cabinets, leaks in the ceiling, slow internet, bad paint jobs, holes in the doors and bad patch up jobs. They will say that the home is in Midtown when it’s really in the hood. There was a shooting a week after I moved in and nothing was done about it. There were a few more shootings after that. It’s definitely not worth $1,000. Also many homes use lighting and editing on their photos to make it seem like it’s a huge nice place/kitchen you’ll get there and it’s dated AND filthy. They won’t even refund your money back. So make sure you document everything. Take photos and videos.
PadSplit offers many options for great places to live. No long term contracts which is amazing when just starting out trying to get your bearings in a new city. Thanks for providing a wonderful product .
PadSplit is just the middle man in a sense to the house owner I never met the owner of the property of which I stay (currently) and the environment is very unsafe I’ve wrote to them and no response they just take your money but don’t gaf about you as a human being or making the environment comfortable for you.. they catfished me with nice pictures of the room but when I moved in there were dead bugs in the sink, the coolest had burn marks at the top, paint flaking, the whole house has a strong stench and nobody has a thing about it. I don’t see this company lasting without making the necessary changes. They simply don’t care.
The app isn’t showing all of the available states for PadSplit, but the website is. Also, it’s extremely difficult to get a hold of the Host for certain things. Maintenance concerns aren’t addressed until weeks later, evicted people still living in the home weeks after they’re supposed to be gone, causing disruption to the ones who are actually paying to live in the home. PadSplit is the middle person between us and the Host.
This has been a huge help! I’m in a home close to my job and everyone is the house is cool. Don’t let the reviews scare you, there are real properties on this app! You do have to watch for the fake ones but this is definitely great for what’s happened during the pandemic. Also, the app has been working consistently but now the screen is blank.
They charged the entire house for “violations” without figuring out who is responsible and you’re expected to pay on top of your normal expenses or you’ll be terminated for your roommates mistakes. My host (that we can never contact) charged us because my roommates had their laundry supplies on a shelf next to the washer and dryer… I don’t get it. The customer support team is trash! They are rude and couldn’t care less about our issues. Trash establishment just find a roommate on FB marketplace, Airbnb, book an extended stay or something. Anything but Padsplit Very unfair! They see guests as weekly deposits and not human being. “We afford affordable housing” (but we’ll make up fines and charge you whenever we like)
This company is terrible. From fake and old photos to having people living in your house that are not register anywhere and PadSplit doesn’t do anything to kick them out. Rude property manager and their only looking to charge you any fee very chance they get. Have the worst customer service I’ve experienced. Do yourself a favor a look somewhere else.
This is a great way for people to find themselves in life while not stressing on paying a monthly fee on rent that is so high! It comes with everything
Everything about this is horrible the houses are usually gross and not what you see in the pictures. Safety is a biggest issue if a member is causing a place to be unsafe or hostile. Nothing is done about it. Maintenance is never done. Calling you will never get straight forward help or answer. And the app it self never works properly
This is addressed to the fine folks at Apple: this app has been non functional for over a month (as of 8/25). We all have to use the web browser to pay rent, file maintenance requests, etc. why is this app still even here if they won’t put in the effort to fix it?
They’re over priced. Keep the house cold and don’t allow you to have a heater!!!! You will get sick starting at these properties. They confuse you with allowing you to have a payment day and if it’s not paid in 24 hours there are Late fees. One day and day only to pay. You better pay on time
Any time I choose to use the app or even open the app. There is always a blank white screen. Any time I choose an option…the next screen turns white. As of 9/2/22 I believe there are no actual humans trying to maintain operation of the app. It’s completely useless.
