I LOVE this app, and I LOVE my Lumix S1H, but… there’s a HUGE issue where a dialogue pop up box saying “Recording stopped because the camera is busy” when we start and stop recording. We DON’T NEED THAT! And it doesn’t go away until you touch the phone, that’s crazy! Sometimes I have to use my nose to get it to go away, as my hands are busy… ya know using a camera! How has no one at Panasonic thought this was a problem? So strange! Keep up the good work though, as this app is soo close to being AMAZING!
This app is quite literally useless. Just bought my Lumix s5ii that I’m very pleased with. However, I film myself, so having something that allows me to be able to control the camera from my phone is crucial! Problem is, is that the connectivity between the camera and my phone is absolutely nonexistent. It only works LITERALLY about 5% of the time and that’s extremely frustrating because the app is NICE. It has all of the controls I need to film myself without having to go back and forth 3 trillion times and everything but what’s all that worth if my phone disconnects within 0.3 seconds of it connecting? Extremely frustrating. And what makes it worse is that I’d have to go buy a third party transmitter for it that might not even work properly. There’s got to be a work around… If you offer something like this, at least make sure it works at least 80% of the time, or sell a transmitter built for your brand that could replace this.
How can an app have a 4+ star rating when almost every recent review is 1 or 2 stars? The app refuses to connect to the camera. I have a 2 year old iphone. I tried the app about a year ago with the same results. Bluetooth connectivity is so easy these days. Even small companies are able to do it with no issues. How can a company like Panasonic not get it right? This illustrates that they don’t really care about their customers. Because the simplest amount of user testing would have exposed these flaws. Either they are incompetent or they did find these flaws in testing and decided to screw the customers anyway. I would hate to work for a company that cannot fix their app over a two year period.
I have recently tested and compared the Nikon, Sony and Leica apps to this new Lumix app, and the Leica and Lumix are the two that are reliable and most stable. Read the comments here, the users who rate it 1 Star, don’t even noticed this is ONLY for the Lumix S1 camera series... i use it to do geotagging from my iPhone without the battery draining issue I had with my Nikon (850 and Z7). I use it to transfer raw files to Lightroom mobile on my iPad Pro. Yes, the 250+ Mpix high resolutions raw files transfer like a charm to my tablet! Amazing Panasonic! Thanks
I’m downloading videos straight to my iPhone but noticed a video longer that 15 minutes freezes every time I try. The video fully downloads and says 18 minutes but on my phone when I play it, after the 15 mark it freezes??? The video when played on my camera is in full and totally fine. What’s the issue?
I don’t enable GPS on my phone for any apps, unless I get lost and need a map location. But this “LUMIX” app requires GPS to be turned on at all times to use the app. Aside from privacy not being possible with LUMIX, and photos being geo-tagged (which I always have disabled on my phone), this is a huge drain on phone battery life. There is absolutely no reason why, when using a WiFi connection, this app must REQUIRE your precise location to be shared at all times and GPS turned on. I completely regret getting this Panasonic camera. Had I known I couldn’t use the app without enabling location services at all times, I never would have gotten this camera. Aside from the location/privacy issue, the app is clunky, difficult, and time consuming to pair with a camera once gps is temporarily turned on. This app leads me to suggest that customers rethink buying a Panasonic brand camera and look elsewhere if they want the ability to upload pictures to their phone.
Hello. 1950 calling. They want their app back! Okay for a corporation as huge as Panasonic and designed for a camera range that starts at over $2500, this app is a joke. If you have the patience of a saint and 45 minutes to waste you might be able to get the app to connect to your iOS device. On my iPad i quickly found that the connection process only works in portrait mode although once (and if) connected you can use the rest of the app in landscape. This implies to me that a different incompetent wrote the setup program... There is so much wrong with this app that I will just get to the point. Please Panasonic hire a six year old to write you a new program, even a room filled with monkeys banging on keyboards could do better than this. This app is an embarrassment to your brand and for anyone counting on having a remote app this should be a deal breaker. Verdict: terrible terrible terrible On a scale of 1-10 I rate this app a 0
Coming from Fuji Cam Remote and Olympus, this LUMIX app is a breeze! I primarily use it for getting jpegs off of my S1H, and I love how after the initial setup it continues to work whenever I use it with my iPhone. With Fuji Cam Remote I would randomly have to reset the connection between my phone and camera every few weeks… that is not the case with LUMIX sync! It’s been working great since day 1. Thank you LUMIX :)
I have always wanted to use my iphone as a monitor for my g7. The other apps i have used in the past stops displaying as soon as g7 starts recording. This app solves all of that problem. Now i can monitor what my camera is recording on my phone. And i can control a lot more functions. Thank you. This app is perfect for me. I just wish there is a way to make the video full screen when monitoring.
I have used this app with my S5M2 for more than a year and it works as advertised. I've used it for photo and video and have never had any issues. Other reviewers said it cannot connect ... however, I have never experienced that issue. If you'd like a remote option for your LUMIX camera, this is a great choice.
The app forces you to share location before you can use the app. In addition, according to Panasonic, “[d]ata is (sic) also collected when the application is closed or not used.” Panasonic does not explicate any details regarding the data being collected. I fear that whatever I capture (if not the footage then the metadata whose size is minute) is simply sent to Panasonic. Hence, the app needs to be improved in that aspect. Regarding the app’s performance, it’s worth mentioning that it’s VERY sluggish and it keeps dropping the connection between my iPhone 13 pro and Lumix S5 camera.
If the app connected to the phone and camera in a more proactive manner, It would be so nice. But I’m struggling every time to get the three synced. The wording is often confusing and lacks meaning of what it’s trying to say. It’s not very intuitive to the new user at all. I wish it functioned more like apple earbuds connecting to your iPhone but it’s more like setting up a home entertainment system in the 90s.
The paradox of an app called "Sync" is that, as many others have reported, it can't actually connect to the camera. It also demands that you provide it access to your location. I can't think of a single legititmate reason why an app for controlling the app would need that, so I assume spying on users' whereabouts is a secondary income stream. That intrusion isn't acceptable to start with, but especially not when the app doesn't even work. You had one job, Panasonic, and you failed miserably.
These days view luts on camera becoming normal and the mobile app is good enough but missing some functionalities but one of the key feature would be if Panasonic can allow users to view the same LUT via the app, can be installed in phone. This would be an amazing feature to stop using external monitors and work with what we have in pockets.
LUMIX S1 - iPhone XS App worked great until I installed iOS13. Since my S1 has only connected by Bluetooth and can only be used as a remote with no image preview. When the app connected via WiFi it was GREAT. Better than the Canon, Nikon and Sony equivalents. Also better than the Image App Panasonic has. Once the iOS13 WiFi big is fixed I’ll happily give it 5 stars. Would be even better if you could upload any image to the sheer overlay like you can with the lumix tether app! That would be HUGE!
Connected once, buggy operation, could not reconnect
S5IIx w/latest firmware, iOS 16.6.1, all permissions ON, cannot Join Network. Connected once, app became unstable while remotely monitoring and operating the camera. Connection failed, unable to reconnect. Power cycled camera, force closed app, checked app permissions multiple times. The Panasonic Image app works fine on the same phone, I’ve used it for years. I film myself and use the Image app with GH5 weekly.
Works great when connected via Bluetooth but if you don’t use it all the time to import photos it’s a big pain to connect to iPhone 15 pro max This is after you delete n try to pare again. It’s a big pain n takes for ever to do. Should be easier Says to operate camera to join, but the camera won’t do anything. Please fix the app to make connection easier.
This app has slowly gotten better over the years but it’s still missing a crucial feature: LUTs. If you are shooting V-log, the app does not utilize the V-log assist viewing options so you’re left with a flat, desaturated image. Not appropriate when using the wireless feed for client monitor. Should be an easy fix so kind of baffled why this isn’t already included after all these years.
Not sure how this has an average rating of 4.2 stars!? Just got a new camera. The remote shooting feature is important to me. The app only connects to the camera for literally 5 seconds. The disconnect happens before I can even get in frame. I’ve tried most major camera brands and they all have horrible apps, with the exception of Nikon’s being the most reliable, but this one takes the cake for being the worst. It’s useless.
Unfortunately you can’t send raw files to iOS smartphone. One of the main reasons I needed the app. Transferring images without a computer for quick edits. Very dissatisfied. But everything else seems to work fine. I can control the camera remotely taking photos and video. I hope this can be fixed. I’d gladly change the 2 stars I gave.
I used this app’s remote shoot feature for a three hour architectural photo shoot recently and it worked quite well. I used to use a Canon DSLR with the Camranger. This app worked at least as well as the Camranger, if not better.
Setting up for remote usage on IPad. Nightmare. When downloading photos, you don’t have choice for what folder to put it into, then spend an hour trying to find where they were downloaded t. Constant freezing. As user-friendly as as a Russian sniper. Unreal, that this archaic application STILL exists. Just awful and the reason why my next camera will NOT be a Lumix, or anything made by Panasonic.
This was always a tricky app, but yesterday when I opened the app to transfer photos to my iPad, there was an update to the app. Now there is a disconnect between my camera and the app. It wants me to choose bluetooth on my camera, but there is not that option. So far, haven’t managed to find a workaround. Will keep trying.
It seems to require cellular data and/or a Wi-Fi network to actually work. I wanted to use my Lumix FZ 1000 in an area with no cell service, so no Wi-Fi. I was told it would work but it does not. The pairing instructions are difficult at best. At least the app is free so it can be deleted. I can’t get it to connect at all to my phone. Fix it or delete it. Right now it’s a huge waste of time.
This lumix Sync app can’t transfers Raw pictures from my G9 II Lumix into my IOS devices. You can transfer jpeg pictures perfectly. When are you going to provide adécuate and complete service that can fix this issue? Jorge
I’ve spent hours trying to connect the phone to the camera. I’ve been able to download images from the camera to the phone twice...every other time it’s all about trying to connect WiFi. Complete waste of time and energy. Fix this Ap or don’t bother putting it out for people to use.
Stopped working and does not work with any current or recent iPhone iOS versions. Keeps saying camera rejected connection or prompts to operate the camera to connect then when you operate the camera it says it can’t connect because i operated it.
Connecting with the S5, when looking at images and downloading to iPhone, images are not 24mp, they are not the original quality. This app does not load the full image so what’s the point!? Please update app so that it lets us view and download full resolution! iPhone 13 Pro 15.3.1
Bluetooth, WIFI, combo of the 2, phone initiated, camera initiated, doesn’t matter. The app shows the 2 have connected, but every time I try to transfer images it disconnects and doesn’t complete. Usually the camera keeps trying to sync but the app has moved on to failures. S1 & iPhone XS
This would have been a great app had it allow a full screen mode for video monitoring with focus peaking, or at least mirroring the built-in LCD. Come on now, S1 is a camera with pro video capabilities, why the app is not on the same level?
Using this app with the S5ii is just bad. Connection is never stable, unusable latency, freezing and constant error messages make it even worse. I hope the developers fix these issues because this is a needed solution.
If you are connected to this app via camera WIFI and you move more than 5-6 ft from your camera you LOOSE your connection to the camera! It’s infuriating! This means that most portrait lenses are OUT OF THE QUESTION! This app is absolutely useless. The engineering is shameful.
This program is so hard to use and connect to the S5 for updates I can’t even update my camera. I am regretting even buying the camera. I think its time to figure something else out. Buyer beware.
The software is so bad that cannot connect, and does nothing but wadtes your time and drains the battery in the camera. An award winner: the worse software of the year in the appstore. How did it get there in the first place?
This app is a horrible experience. I cannot believe Panasonic can’t do better. Simple doesn’t work on iOS 95% of the time. No rhyme or reason for when it does and doesn’t.
Had high hopes for this app. It locks up constantly and I am unable to use it to download or view my footage. Panasonic the camera is great but you need new mobile developers. Please fix ASAP.
I have an S1R, and even after the WiFi connection is established through settings the app thinks it is not connected and keeps trying and failing to connect. Totally useless.
When I first installed it it worked with my S1. That was it! Never again. I’ve tried many times to make it work but no luck. Please update the app. It’s the only downfall of Panasonic.
