A 5/5 for artistic viability, but the game wasn’t meant for me
I was very much drawn to this game for artistic elements. The music can’t be matched, the character art is terrific, and the character concepts are terrific. The writing I did not find to be competitive with legitimate visual novels, as in events and the main quest it often felt like a strange set of excuses to lead you into another battle. This is why I say the character concepts are good rather than the writing, because if you get a good sprite, with good VAs, and roughly approximate the beats of a stellar story writing-wise, it will still be pretty easy to appreciate a character. I say the game isn’t for me because a lot of gameplay elements weren’t appealing… having to put time into progression every day felt like a chore. A major game design I disagree beyond incompatibility is the the fact that you get boxed into playing the same 6-7 characters (6 deployable in a normal game) throughout what appears to all of early-mid game. Leveling up any more characters than this is considered a strategic misplay. Sticking with the same loadout every game significantly decreases the impact of strategic planning and turns the whole thing into a level grind. I personally feel like some re-balance is needed to encourage use of more units. All in all, I still quite love it. The soundtrack I will keep, but have burnt out of playing in 3 weeks.
This game is very similar to Arknights in a lot of ways and is inevitably going to draw comparisons. The tower defense gameplay is similar, you rank up characters and skills, dupes are important, the gacha rates are awful and you aren’t guaranteed to get the banner character if you pull an s rank. But I think it does enough to differentiate itself that it’s worth a shot. Instead of starting with no one on the field, you start with all your characters deployed. Instead of having to remove characters from the field and wait for a long cooldown to be able to reposition them, you can move them around at will. I find this to be a more enjoyable experience as you can adjust what is happening on the fly, rather than having to quit out of the stage and restart because your vital character died. The same thing might happen here as once characters die they are gone, or you might start the stage with the wrong characters making it pretty much impossible, but the fluidity and speed of being able to move my characters around makes this more fun to play for me. Also, I like being able to understand what characters are saying so I very much appreciate English voice acting. The voice acting is nothing to write home about but it’s not bad either.
I’m going to go ahead and give this game a 5 star review. I’m liking the graphics so far, that’s what does it for me, good graphics for me always make a game more enjoyable, then probably the storyline or any other side activity would. A+ for that, the game design is Interesting as well, not sure if I’ve come across a game like this before in the past, if I have it hadn’t been like Path to Nowhere. Storyline is okay, could be better. Dialogue is okay, sometimes there isn’t a VoiceOver for the characters, and the player must read the dialogue manually, not sure if it’s a problem with pre - recorded voice lines, or they just weren’t added in. Combat is okay as well could be better. Right, what i mainly wanted to ask about in my review is this. Will there be a plan to add a way to revert sinners levels back to zero? I don’t like that there isn’t a way to get those resources “ ONE” has spent on a sinner, or multiple sinners and not end up using much or at all. That’s what has happened to me, wasted tons of resources on random sinners with no way to get them back. Please add a way to revert sinners back to level one, and get back all spent resources.
This game is truly a hidden gem. The story is dark, mature, and well written. The characters have unique personalities and depth. Through the interrogation and mirage system you’ll learn more about their past and motivations. The pacing is good and you’ll want to learn more about the world and it’s inhabitants. The events rerun and provide story progression or world building. The gacha is fair and the game provides plenty of currency to pull at least one copy of each new character for free. Shackles (or dupes) are impactive if you care about the ladders, but unnecessary to clear high end content and get the best rewards. No direct PvP either so you won’t have to spend unless you want to. Some of the best units are low rarity and easy to max out. One of the best S class units is also free from the beginner event. The upgrade system can be a grind but you’ll have enough for your main team by doing dailies, events, and using the exchange shops. There are plenty of ways to gear and there’s no annoying RNG upgrade system with multiple substats/main stats. If you like tower defense strategy games with good storytelling, give it a shot. It’s quickly become my favorite side game. It doesn’t require a massive time investment to progress, and it doesn’t use FOMO for retention.
My first impression of this game was very good- the art is beautiful, the story is good if you’re into that, and the game is fairly generous in what it gives you even if the gacha rates are average. My main qualm, however is over gameplay. Compared to a another popular tower defense gacha game, Arknights, the gameplay experience of Path to Nowhere is bare-bones and flat. In comparison to the DP system of Arknights, you begin stages with predeployed units and cannot redeploy them after they die, although you can move them. This battle system is not particularly dynamic or deep, and this problem is amplified by the lack of niche. All the units in this game do relatively similar things, and from my experiences in the first few chapters, level of units (over skill or unit choice) seems to be the defining factor in success, which I find problematic. Overall, this game seems like one which I could play for the art and story because they are undeniably good, but if you’re looking for something that’s also good gameplay-wise, I would just play Arknights. (Keep in mind I don’t have too much experience with this game so things might change)
Download this quality game now. If you’ve come here to check it out in the first place just do yourself a favor and install it. This is a gacha game that’s EXTREMELY f2p-friendly, and boy does it come packed with some excellent features. I normally skip stories in 99% of gacha games because I find them to be dull or repetitive but this one is blowing me away. This is the kind of quality and detail in a story you’d expect to find in a popular console title. I spend equal time playing the battle stages as I do watching cutscenes, learning more about characters while building bonds with them and enjoying the myriad of other features the game has to offer. The interface and visuals are gorgeous as well. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Path to Nowhere.
Great artwork, story, voice acting, and F2P friendly
Been playing since the first week of release so I have a pretty good understanding of the game. The gacha system is quite generous, and many non S-rank units are viable, some even top tier, making it quite F2P friendly. Sure there are some P2W units but they aren’t necessary. Heck the best unit in the game, Nox, is given for free! The story and events are well written, interesting, and fully voiced in 4 languages. The art is more mature than those typical anime style, which is nice imo. One downside is that once you’ve completed endgame, it can get abit repetitive - but the higher difficulty endgame was just released this week. And the constant stream of new events and units keep it refreshing.
I enjoy the story and gameplay even if it takes me multiple attempts to clear stages. But I don’t enjoy the— I’ll call it the “beginner event” where you can acquire Nox for free. You have a certain amount of days to complete a large checklist of items to get Nox. And like I mentioned earlier I’m not very good at this game, so it took me a while to unlock the features I needed to complete the items on the list. Because of that I have 64/65 items completed for Nox but I literally cannot finish the other items in time. (Checking in for the Guild feature, or finishing dispatches). I wanted to have fun with this game but that’s killed my vibe. Maybe I’ll come back one day. Also this game is stingy about the amount of stamina you get. That also hindered progress for me. Raid to get resources then end up having to wait to be able to even play the campaign.
I’m still pretty new to this game but so far I have enjoyed the story and gameplay. The character drops aren’t bad I’ve but probably could use a little better drop rates. The gameplay itself is excellent in my opinion a good mix of enjoyable and challenging. My main problem is there are some critical bugs I have noticed. Some missions are loading in with nothing but a black screen maze missions in particular. Also the missions for the mania crystals you need for upgrade will start working sometimes but then the screen will freeze up. Oddly enough the fighting will continue but you cannot tell what is happening. I hope that the developers will look into these bugs because these two missions are critical in the game progression.
I’m gonna be honest. When I first saw the game advertised on multiple social media platforms, I just thought of it as those idle cash grab games. However, recently I’ve given it a try and oh my god, the game is fantastic… I play games like Arknights, GFL and a couple of other strategy games and I can guarantee that if you like those type of games, you’ll definitely like this one as well. The characters and the art style are gorgeous. And the music… The music is just top tier… when I first downloaded the game, I find myself sitting in the lobby a lot more than actually playing the game. I’m not a specialist in rating games but I confidently give this game a 9.7/10.
Okay this game is actually really fun if you play it it’s kinda like arknights with the play style but other than that it’s actually really fun all of the storyline have voices in which actually help when I really don’t listen to any story lines since they have no voices over it so I pretty much skip it and just do the fighting instead but since this had voice over I actually listen and it’s really nice to listen to the storyline it is very interesting one actually and the characters are very stunning with the voices they all have really that all I have to say good storyline love the voice very nice characters and really a amazing game to try if you want something that is kinda arknights.
Honestly, I don’t have many complaints. My only few are how little our energy cap is. You either have to prioritize gaining resources for your characters or playing the storyline. My other complaint is the lack of representation in the game! There are at least only 3 characters that aren’t pasty white. Would love to see other characters who aren’t. There aren’t many male characters either, however, that really isn’t an issue. Other than that, I love this game!! Especially the limited stories featuring S-class sinners. I’m in love with the English voice acting, I’m glad there is some, even though the English-needing fanbase is way smaller than the others.
PTN seems like arknights, however having the ability to move my units as a need to is super helpful rather than having to redeploy units although you bring less units to the fight. But it seems more of a fun challenge and makes you think about more who to bring into more missions rather than just grabbing 2 monster units and running through a bunch of missions. The gacha rates seem a bit bad but i havent had bad luck getting characters and the game has a pity rate so if you save up to get a unit your really want you can eventually get them. Honestly some of starting units and low rank units can be better than the higher rarity which is great for people who like to be F2P
To start, this game is different than many of the cash grabs I keep downloading and getting disappointed by. Music is great, voice acting is great, and what I pay attention to most of all: grammar. Whoever put this one together must be an English major or something because it’s rare to see a game with proper sentence structure. Lots of story each time you enter an area. What I also love is that the game isn’t easy. Each battle you fight, even when you add more to your arsenal, it’s not always given that you will dominate and even come close to losing it sometimes. The art is awesome and I’m glad I pre-downloaded this one. I never review app games, but this one takes the cake.
The developer taking the time to translate the game properly and add English voice actors makes a HUGE difference in the fun factor. Without it, I likely would just skip all of the story (which is actually pretty good) and just blast my way to the end and likely get bored (like most other Gachas), but because of these VAs I’m now taking my time, slowly enjoying the content as I go. The TD gameplay in this is more fun than others, they have quite a few quality of life stuff where it doesn’t take long to do dailies and you don’t need to leave your phone on auto-repeat all day to farm stuff. Graphics and theme are top notch. Highly recommend this title!
Game is really enjoyable but it’s very highly pay to progress. What I mean is unless you shovel out a moderate amount of money you won’t progress at all literally. Some aspects are worse than momento Mori and that’s saying a lot. The amount of energy and power gap is immense even when you are in the second chapter. All characters I have are level 40 the ones I use and skills leveled to as high as I can’t currently get them and the enemies still literally kill my guys in 3 hits. So be ready to spend a lot of money because this game has some pretty aggressive predatory ways to get you to force yourself to pay $$$$ just to progress.
Honestly I didn’t have much expectations when I download it. I thought the art work and the mechanism of the game are quite good-since I always have a good eyes for games- I decided to give it a try. I play for the art but stay for the storyline; the story is well written and keep your expectations up at all time. The story is not like those kind of “I can do everything with the power of friendship” kind of cringy stuff, it doesn’t sugarcoat you or the MC. I still in the middle of judging this game as I play, just hope that I don’t get bore too soon since I can never stay long when the game no longer keep me interests. 😅
I’ve got this game today and played it for a while and it’s pretty good. Art is beautiful, English va’s are good and the story is intriguing so far. I have one complaint, though. This game ate my battery for breakfast. When I stopped playing, my battery power was at 32% and I’m pretty sure it was much higher than that before I started. Granted, my battery life is at 89%, so that might have something to do with it, but still JESUS. And I couldn’t find any settings to help with that, so if you could help me find it or maybe add it into the game, then that would be nice. Other than that, good game and somewhat generous with the rewards.
I don’t have much to say about this title. I like the character design, fits in with the theme. Everything else is fine. Very typical of this genre. The gameplay is ok, it’s more of a Tower Defense than RTS. As far as a TD game goes it does what it needs to. probably better than other gachas you can play, but not as good as playing an actual TD. I will say that at the very least you have more gameplay in this than a lot of other gachas out there. I does nothing egregious to make me want to complain, it hasn’t crashed on me and I haven’t been offended by anything it’s thrown at me. The story is there, im not really connecting with it, but it’s serviceable. I’ve definitely encountered worse, but have definitely seen better. I go into gachas looking for something to complain about, and there isn’t much to complain about which is a good thing I guess. Maybe it’s because I’m working on some other gachas right now and it all becomes a blur is the reason why I’m not digging it, nothing about it makes me want to connect to the characters or situation I just don’t care, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the game is bad.
This game is truly something special. The story presentation, graphics, and sound design are so far above Arknights that they aren’t even in the same league. AK has better strategic combat for sure but this game has a solid and fun system. It is worth playing to experience the story alone, but from what I’ve seen so far I have high hopes for the end game. I’ve played through the end of chapter 6 and all I can say is wow! I’ve played so many of these gacha games and nothing hit me like this. Do yourself a favor and play with sound on and read the dialogue or listen to the excellent voice acting.
Path to Nowhere is the biggest surprise for me this year. It is a really engaging tower defense game similar to Arknights, but I find its gameplay to be more approachable. The art is gorgeous and the English voice acting is spectacular. That latter point is rare for most mobile games. The protagonist actually has a personality and depth to their thinking in this game! The characters in this game are very likable underneath their dark and gritty surface. I personally think this game’s developers are very passionate about what they created, and it shows in the quality of the game. The rewards are generous and I feel comfortable spending to support this unexpected gem.
No game is gacha is perfect but this is a lot better IMO (so far) maybe it’s the because it’s the honeymoon phase so we’ll see but the game is mad fun and has similar mechanics to Azur lane and similar combat mechanics to ark knights, with their own twist to it. The story… let’s just say it’s better than most stories out here and that’s very telling; all the characters voices match there appearance and that is A MAJOR “W” . The story isn’t stale either it’s a very unique kinda thing but just a tincy cliche and basic but it needs that to fit the plot. - FIRST review I’ve ever made , you guys should check it out.
Game starts off impressive and strong. Good music and very good VA. Battle system that, ONLY at first seemed like it would be good. Somehow that system shifted into being little more than a pure action game and not at all a tactics game. All you're doing after ch3 is constantly picking your people up and moving them all over the place. And not in a tactical way mind you. It felt more action, like a COD game… For a game who's first impression leaves you to think its akin to battle chess, it ends up nothing, like it. Zero tactics are involved here. Only dragging your most OP char from one place to another constantly. The UI is the worst Ive ever seen before as well. Instead of your rewards being tackled neatly into one area, two tops, this game has you going into at least 10+ to redeem things everyday. Worthless things. And yes 10+ means 10+. It is that ridiculous. Stamina games can be fun if they're fair. This games stamina is anything but fair. You get enough items to level ONE person with a full days stamina maybe 1-2 levels after 40. Then you cant do anything. Even with the VIP pass. Its horrible. Do not play this game. Do not even download it. Trust me. Move on. Way better gachas out there.
That would dare to think that making a “welcome reward checklist ” would stoop to being a perma time missed content. Not everyone can slam or even predict having to jump into a game running or miss out on elitist style content. The pull rate and the satisfaction is terrible considering that every synthesized review is from people that have the hookup on getting these features with no work. Its high time gachas and mobiles stop woth the “pre reg, beta tester, and seasonal” only content and then think they can keep a community that laughs and shrugs at others on discord for missing out. This low review will remain and get reposted on desktop if it is to be removed because im so sad i had to waste my time on just another pred company that i wont give another chance to play. Because they ruined it the first time….
It’s fun and excited, they give us lot of times to save up resources to level up characters. The game had been constantly improving with great character designs and good storyline. They’re a bit slow on releasing time-limited event but it is overall a minor issue as the graphics and beautiful VAs’ kind up overshadowed it. In conclusion, should 10/10 played and u won’t regret for choosing Path To nowhere. It’s hella underrated and should receive more respect as one of the newer gacha game out in 2022
Great mature aesthetics, OST and VA (yes Eng VA for the most part) and a fully voiced gripping story that feels like campy but dark Mass Effect. Faster rate of combat compared to Arknight and VERY very generous with gacha loot. They allow you to guarantee to get S tier units if you spend set amount of draws, what’s more they’ll also often all you to roll your previous spendings and count them toward something else. (If you spent $9.99 on a season pass if you decide to level in to the next level they’ll deduct said 9.99 from getting it)
This is a great game. I didn’t like the combat initially but it’s grown on me. Design, audio, music, pacing is all fantastic. Community is friendly. Rates are okay. F2p friendly. The game is exactly what I want in a mobile game. Daily log ins where you only play for a bit once you’ve completed the content. The difficulty isn't set so high that casual players suffer, the games difficulty seems for be geared to the average of players which I love. To be transparent, I’ve spent 10usd for the first battle pass because I liked the exclusive skin. Downsides: oblivion pit is required that you do it manually (~6m of waiting for an easy mode to be completed) and chat messages have a low character limit. Your emotes are also restricted to individual posts and can’t be added to sentences. The chat cool down is low enough that this isn’t a problem.
Please, PLEASE adjust stamina rates, or give us more ways to earn stamina! I watched the hype for this game go from GOAT to not even being talked about in less than a week, you guys NAILED the launch, but stamina caps made your player base evacuate at an alarming rate. If you fix the stamina, your player base will return I guarantee it. Stamina is the ONLY complaint I’ve seen about this game. A barber shop game has stayed above this in ratings for crying out loud. PLEASE ADJUST STAMINA RATES SO THAT I CAN NO LIFE THIS GAME FOR MANY YEARS TO COME!
The eng VA is superb, one of the best out there (even better than Genshin) or any console game imo. Story is pretty decent (captured my attention). It was like reading a movie. Great char designs. Overall, I think better than Arknights. Wasn’t too fond of how the chars looks during battle, but getting use to it. Care less about it when you’re focusing on the battle lol. One thing is for sure, it is NOT gacha intensive. There isn’t a unit that you must have and some of the A and B rank units can do their role just fine.
This game is so incredible. I’m usually not a fan of tower defense style RPGs, but the art style and character designs blew me away. I regret not getting into path to nowhere sooner!!! The story is incredible and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. The chief is not a boring main character either. The combat is so fun for a tower defense, since it has character movement mechanics and it doesn’t just feel like staring at a screen. Game is very player friendly overall!!
Love the game. I play everyday to complete the battle passes when new ones come out. Don’t care that it’s idle. I’ve even maintained a secret society by myself till as of recently within the past 3 months I’m up to 14 people! But the problem I have is it shows incomplete for the 3.1 speed chase when I’ve completed it numerous times. Im OCD about my completions when I enjoy a game. Please fix or reach out so it can be discussed.
First if you haven’t played this game don’t review it. Have some self respect. Now as someone that has played it the graphics and voice acting are great. The story is ok, and the combat system is copy pasted from Arknights. What this game does much better then Arknights is NOT have their terrible base system. Your team is much more focused and personal. I hope they continue to expand the Sinner stories with more depth.
This is a great characters collection game, and fun if u like tower defense types of game. I really enjoy playing it but the way this game needed so much resource and stam to lvl up and promo a character is beyond ridiculous…they have so many cool designed characters and not able to play them is a bit of a let down since it require an abyssal amount of resources to upgrade a character. Hopefully they will do some about it sooner, and I understand the time gated concept but this is by far the worst I experienced.
I’m using an iPhone 11. I have no issues when playing other games. When I play your game, I have a difficult time to navigate around. For example, if I press where it says skip, it doesn’t skip. I have to tap it 5 times for it to register that I want to skip. Same with the store. When I go to store and navigate around, I can’t switch smoothly when I tap. Something is wrong with the game’s technical side.
Played this game for a long time. What really stood out to me was the artwork. The character designs are detailed and beautiful. This is one of few games that has an interesting plot. Events are entertaining and reward the player well. Was not a fan of gameplay though, but over time, fell in love with it. I just want to say, that this game is definitely worth trying
The visuals and details in this game are insane. The Sinners are all beautiful and their stories and backgrounds are fascinating. You’d pick just one and end up falling for most if not all the sinners! Me playing as the female chief. The work behind this game feels like they care for it. Cuz even the voice work in English is pretty good. But I like the original or Japanese voice work the most.
Simply one of the most well polished releases I have seen in a long time. Gotta put it out there, very similar to arknights, but lbh thats a fantastic game to be like. The art style and characters are stunning. The story is actually very good so far, and the voice acting is surprisingly good for a western release. Looking forward to playing this one a lot!!! Don’t hesitate to at least give this a go.
I normally never write reviews for games but I had to write one for this game! The story telling and the breathtaking art is what made me download this game. When I started playing it the characters and generous rewards is what drew me in even more! If you’re looking for a relatively free to play game with 10/10 story telling then this is the game for you!
A lot of people compare this to Arknights due to it being a unit defense game but, that is where the similarities end. Whether, it is unit placement or battle mechanics, Path to Nowhere has its own unique play style that is engaging and entertaining. Gacha rate and its intricacies in getting your wanted unit is also on the more generous end compared to many other mobile games.
The game was released for pre-download so everyone can pre-load the game. Lots of new games do that now-a-days. These people complaining about server being down and have to wait 24hrs did not read. They are just complaining about something they have no clue about. So far, good game!
If you like clash of clans or stuff like that you’ll like this game, but I’d rather much prefer the character models to be larger? There’s no language voice option, wasn’t clear where the inbox was or even settings? No login bonus? In short it was just sexy, tower defense game. Not for me, more of a turn-based RPGs for my mobile games. Feels like it wasn’t done for launch. Not to mention characters bleep out swear words??? At that point just make them say a different word. Must be some license issue with this version of the game.
To those who are familiar with both of these games, I could easily say “Path to Nowhere is a well-made cross between Arknights and Alchemy Stars.” The setting is a beautiful dark world. The writing is very good. I’m enjoying the gameplay and eager to see the story progress. Devs, my biggest complaint: Mazes are NOT enjoyable. They require more trial and error than intelligence, and they are a pain to replay if you make a mistake. They are not visually appealing or interesting. They are needlessly punishing. My advice is that instead of losing the maze resulting in you being kicked out of the level, it just resets the maze and brings you back to start with no load time. This would be a huge quality of life improvement!!
Options are under the profile which feels hidden. Tutorial is super long. The plot is okay, but also has ??? moments and has a lot of cringe dialogue that fits tropes. Not a fan of some of the English voice acting delivery, but it’s mainly because of who came up with their dialogue. The art is nice, but music is non-existent on many stages. The 3D character models look a bit cheap. Overall, an okay game but too new to determine if it’s “f2p”.
Ok- the graphics are awesome and I love the story. Which is part of the reason I’m so disappointed. I’m not a newbie to these kind of games, but I’m stuck on level 2-2. And it’s not even close, I’m getting absolutely destroyed every time I try. So either the difficulty needs to be scaled back, a lot, or I’m missing something and the tutorial needs to be better. The drop rate for good characters is pretty sorry, too. Either way, I’m not inclined to waste much more time trying to figure this out.
This game seems like Arknight but it’s really fun only the beginning. In story 1-4 to every story and chapter it gets really harder that I can’t complete. And it’s like just move your character. And for enemy, if there is healer,the enemy never dies and you are just moving and killed your character. So, I don’t really recommend this game.
This game has incredible production value, from the writing to the art to the gameplay. It stands out among other gacha games thanks to its well executed mood and theme. As someone who has played several gacha games, this is my favorite by far. The best part is you can play as a female or male character.
I really love the story and characters of this game. It's the best thing about it. However, THIS GAME NEEDS A RESET FEATURE! The inability to reset a low-rank character makes it incredibly difficult to have a good team. This makes it eventually boring to play as you grind to try and make it past levels. I also enjoy the gameplay. It's different from what I usually see from these types of games.
Ok I gotta say I still play ark night is gonna need to make some changes the this is the game to take notes. It’s just soo much better and u don’t have to feel like u have to pay to win to get new characters to just continue the game I love this game please don’t change…
This is without a doubt one of the best gacha games I have ever played. B class characters are absolutely worth it. Difficult is fair. Story is amazing. No skip tickets required. 80 banner pity, and it Carrie’s over. F2P friendly. And lastly the best character in the game is given for free. No complaints. Great game first, gacha second.
So I just completed what I guess you could call the tutorial, I’m in the main menu where it’s now telling me to complete my first arrest, but every time I tap on the arrest tab it freezes up in a sense where nothing works when I tap on it, if you can fix that I’d be willing to change the rating to five stars cause the games actually kinda fun to play
