Ease of payments
I’ve been using the PennyMac app for the past two months, and it has significantly simplified managing my loan. The app allows me to access my loan details quickly, make payments, track payment history, and check for updates seamlessly. This is the absolute worst Mtg company!!
Our payments have been messed up since November (it is now April) and we have received numerous late fees and ruined credit now due to this companies incompetence. We have made numerous phone calls and spent endless hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue. Always having to regurgitate the entire story over and over again. Obviously customer service does not notate phone conversations so no one ever has a clue that we have spoken with someone before. We have even been told that no one with that name works there. We have spent an hour on a call just to be disconnected and cannot be transferred back to the person that we were speaking to. Managers refuse to take calls when you ask to speak to someone with more knowledge. The calls always end with us being assured that the problem will be resolved within days but when we receive our next statement or check the website (the two never march) the problem is either worse than before or has been slightly corrected but new issues and late fees are added. It has been totally infuriating. Customer service reps are unprofessional and untrained. Dealing with anyone at this company has been a nightmare!! I absolutely HATE dealing with this company!!!!!!!!!

Fix App Crashing with Newest app version - Now Fixed
Update: Response received with advice on how to fix the below and it worked. If anyone else has this problem, delete and re-add the app. The only downfall if that you need to sign in from scratch with verification again which is annoying when you are used to doing a quick tap on the app and then an auto face login. App has improved with a lot of info as I looked around so give this 4 stars since I have a feeling every update now I’ll have to re-do these steps. Please ensure smooth transitions for members with app updates so we don’t have to delete, re-add app, and re-verify just to use the app again. Thanks. Old input: It is not letting me add 4 stars on top so hope this info helps others. Initial: Newest app version crashes every time you try to switch to a 2nd loan within the app. Please fix ASAP as this did not crash every time before I updated to the latest app version (have tried many times to switch and it crashes every time). People depend on the app to work to look up payment amounts due. Please fix ASAP.

Having same problems mentioned in other recent reviews
My app also just keeps saying “loading” whenever I open it for weeks now. I haven’t been able to check my loan info without opening a browser and logging on that way. I have tried using wifi, not using wifi, force closing the app, restarting my phone, etc. It wont load my info. I see the developer responded below saying that it wasn’t happening on their end, but it sounds like it’s happening to more people than just me! Update: The internet in my house is fiber and everything else on the network is working fine, including all the other apps on my phone. I closed all other apps open on my phone, uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and it worked the first time I opened it. Then every subsequent time I tried to open it, it went back to the loading message. I shouldn’t have to uninstall and reinstall the app every time I want to check it, just to have it work once.

Ref: Your automated system: Since October I have struggled to use your automated system. First , it is not user friendly. I'm 53 and I love paying thing esp on time. Your system , which I truly believe you have never used does not efficiently process my transaction from a convenient standpoint: automated system never links my four digit SS number to my account requiring multiple attempts. Rather than tell you how the rest of the long list of failures in your process that make money or how collect it. You should try using your own system and see how frustrating it can be. Your IT department should accrsss it regularly from a new customer stand point. Maybe in a board room with his or her superiors on speaker phone to see what a hard process it is! The value in my review is Gold if truly care about customer service. Sincerely Jason Williamson.

Frustrating Payment System Despite Good Website Navigation
36 years with numerous loans and never had a late payment until I started using the PennyMac mobile app. While the website provides a good dataset and is easy to navigate, the payment system on the app is incredibly frustrating. The confirmation pop-ups when trying to make a payment are confusing, and you need to double-check for a pending payment after submission. This confusion led to a late payment hit on my credit in the early days of using the app. This experience was disappointing and worth warning others about. Despite the decent website, the app's payment system needs significant improvement.

Frustrating
Downloaded the app and I’m unable to register because it doesn’t recognize my loan ID. Tried 3 different browsers to log in. Called the customer service hotline and after running the gauntlet of robot responses and doing their suggestions I was still unable to finish my registration. I’m unable to get a hold of an actual person to discuss the issue. It should not be this hard to log into an account. Reading the other reviews it looks like website/app difficulties are a trend and have been for some time. Very frustrating considering you don’t get to choose who your loan servicer is. I would take my business elsewhere if I could choose who my mortgage got sold to. Communication seems like an essential part of a home loan service.

It finally WORKS
I received another email by PM that the latest application update should have fixed the issues. I can now say that the app is good. Face ID works and all statements and documents can open on the Apple PM app. Click on the Doc Name pdf. and then click Quick Look in order to view/open it. It also seems like they fixed the issues of transferring you to their website every time you tried to open one of the functions under the three horizontal lines on the upper left corner of the phone screen; i.e Escrow, Make a Payment, etc.

Really Good App
I’m thoroughly impressed with the design and functionality of the app. For something as daunting and important as our mortgage, I am comforted to find that PM has taken the time and effort to create an app that is easy to use, understand and navigate. I have been able to find the answer to every question that I have had so far. Which means no need for phone calls! Win-win. Kudos PM. Keep up the good work!

Good but a couple requests
A past update took away the option to use fingerprint for login. Will you please bring that back. Also my link from my credit union also now requires me to enter a password every time I login in. I’m not sure why a refresh would need that every time but it’s quite annoying to get an email every time I login in to my credit union account.

Easy to use!
A little hard to get a hold of customer service with the automated phone service sometimes but online app is very easy to use to pay my monthly mortgage bill. Escrow payments can be done in there as well and I do like the updates and seeing the payments process immediately instead of snail mail. And no headache of missing stuff in the mail. It’s helped me keep on top of payments. Thanks!

I’m so blessed I chose PENNYMAC! They actually care about keeping families in homes!!! They have made so many awesome options for me when times are tough!!! If you choose penny mac make no mistake!!! Best Mortgage Company on Earth
I have never had such a better company to work with me. They helped us all the way through covid. Also, when you call PennyMac everybody is knowledgeable about most of home loans and can help you right away. I couldn’t ask for a better mortgage company to have in bad times or good times.

Do Better!
This app is extremely glitchy and it asked for your home loan however, the loan number that you are asking for is a completely different loan number than the actual assigned FHA loan number of the house. Make that make sense how someone is suppose to figure out that aside from it being listed in the email sent, why can’t you simply use the same number that would never change for the life of the loan? Loan number being the FHA number. Again, glitchy app, crashes often and is not user friendly. DO BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to set up my account via PC on chrome at first, but nothing wanted to work correctly. Thought to try the App and everything went through perfectly the first time. Fire your web team and hire your app folks to take over the whole project.

Mobile app
I set up the mobile app once this company took over my mortgage. The first month I made payment with no problem. The next month I had to call and make a payment. I was not able to use their app. This month I tried again same problem. Stating it did not recognize my user name or PW. I know it was correct because I copied and pasted. So I set it up again. When I called customer service I got someone on the line who was lacking in the English language. Go figure. Hello hire people who can speak English. After all I am in AMERICA/USA.

I received this loan 2019 of August. It’s been three years I had no racing calls from Penny Mac. Not even sending my loan to someone else. I’m so happy that I don’t have to deal with that so if there’s anybody else that would love to try Penny Mac, I say 💯 do it. I am glad that I’m going to be with one lender as long as the loan last for. Thank you, Penny Mac.👍💯

Not a friendly page.
It very bad that people cannot break payments in two without entering a contract, I gets paid every 2 week I would love to pay my mortgage half and half but will have to call to do so over the phone. Not a friendly page. That all.

This app saves so much time!!
Before I had to go through all of this authentication process just to try to pay my bill, but with this app, I use my Face ID and I can pay my house payment in under a minute where before it took me like five minutes to make a payment.

Face ID/Biometrics no longer work
I’m not sure what happened after update but biometrics no longer work; in my case Face ID. You can click it but nothing happens. You have to enter login and password each time. I’ve done all the basic troubleshooting even deleting and re installing the app and same issue. Leads me to assume it’s an issue with the app.

Radial button selection
Radial button selection is not terribly responsive. One has to double tap in order to select the option. In addition, when entering the payment amount, one can’t see it until clicking at a white space to “unselect” the text field. This is not very user friendly.

Payments Flawless
They have no problem receiving payments for our mortgage. Every single one has gone through. Unlike our internet bill that I pay four times a year, because their website never works on a monthly basis. Kudos, PennyMac!

Screen freezes & And forces you to do it electronically. like a paper statement set.
I would like to do it the old fashion way, where I receive paper in the mail of my statements. A pop-up screen comes on as soon as you sign in and forces you to electronically do it over the Internet.

Worst App and website!
Constant login issues with no support to help resolve it. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you will soon enough. It’s only humorous because it’s so painful. Even their own customer service admits the issues. Did I mention the fix is to login?? Yeah, exactly what I can’t do! What I can do is register for the 100th time to find out I don’t have an account associated with my information. Seems weird seeing they have no problems collecting my mortgage payment every month.

This new update is horrible but it back please!
I can’t see the amount I’m entering when paying just the principle. The numbers keyboard will pop up to enter and it covers it! Hardest thing to do! You have to guess you got it right and go back if you don’t. Then when you make a payment and press submit… I tried it twice … it spins and spins for at least 5-10 minutes then times out. I’ll have to go back to paper bills so I can make a payment.

Payment processing
For some reason your payment processor lost my account that I’ve been using for over 3 years and tried making me pay from two other accounts that I use for emergency only. Hopefully your system doesn’t do that again. That’s why I gave you a 3 star. Otherwise it has been a 5 star rating

Not intuitive at all
Setting up payments is t intuitive at all there is a very small link for adding your payment method. In addition why can’t I have it so I pay out of multiple accounts. Myself and my significant other don’t want to have to create a joint account to pay the mortgage. On the app and online when I go to check my banking information site freezes and I have to completely restart. Horrible software.

The process got totally turned around while trying to set up the account. I was unable to use my normal email. I could only get on with my backup email. I could not speak with anyone to rectify the problem. I finally completed it after an hour of hassle, but not in the email I would have preferred.

App & even website issues/improvements
1. It took me entirely too long to figure out how/be able to get the app & actually make it work. 2. I tried entering my bank account info to make a payment & BOTH the app & website wouldn’t do it (causing me to stress & eventually FINALLY be able to add my bank account to make a payment on the LAST DAY before there are late fees) 3. After FINALLY being able to enter my bank information, I submitted a payment for the 1st account… BUT… then I switched to the second mortgage account & HAD TO DO IT AGAIN… what a waste of my time. 4. Spent 20min trying to figure out the “mortgage forbearance that you are boldly/constantly promoting & couldn’t ACTUALLY “submit” anything (on both the app & the website).

Monthly interest
The only 2 things I usually want to find are the principal and interest breakdowns on monthly payments. Can you make these two items available on the activity page? Having to manually derive the interest paid from the current balance is a nuisance. I check each month on the 1st or 2nd. I know I can wait a few more days and navigate my way down to a monthly statement but that’s too late for when I update my financial tracking transactions in Quicken. Hope you make this user friendly change.

Give me the app very simple to use. You do have to go through a few clicks to get to a couple of places, but it’s not too bad. The calculators on the app is not the best, but I think in new versions they should give a calculator page that gives you all the calculator options.

Worst Mortgage company
It is a horrible company with horrible customer service and practices. They are extremely illegal in their practices. Their application doesn't even let you log in correctly. They messed up my payments and then dared to charge me a late fee for their system's incompetence. If you have this mortgage company wait and refinance when it's reasonable and leave them, anyone else is better; it's the worst. Their managers hung up on me explaining my issue.

Please fix login
The newest update to the 0auth process has been causing a very annoying issues. 1) the new login screen never remembers my device and the alert pops up every time I log in. 2) I can’t use faceID anymore with the native IOS. 3) the latency for the home page loading after I login has been really bad. It’s been several months now… please fix it!

Updated app
I was notified on my phone of the updated app. I updated and tried to get into to app to pay my mortgage, it didn’t happen. I tried turning off my phone and rebooting but it just circles and sits there. I then put to app on my tablet and that’s when it worked. I don’t always have my tablet but I do my phone. I’ve been paying on my phone for the last 3 years and now I can’t. I’m not pleased with this at all.

Pretty Good
This seems like a pretty good app to navigate. However, I tried to make an escrow payment and it took me two tries. It just kept spinning on and on the first try. I was hoping it wouldn’t double charge me. Second try to get a confirmation number.
