Excellent card
I had a quite bad credit score actually if you ask me. It wasn’t even in the 600’s I don’t think if that not much over I was instantly approved for this card with a $2500 limit. I thought it was a gimmick but it wasn’t. I love the card. I now have many cards but this one actually has lower interest then my Apple Card my credit one card or first bank MasterCard and the app is also great has many features like showing your debt to how much money you have in your bank account and also free credit score. I would recommend this card to anyone. The only negative thing I can say is that My husband was denied I don’t know how , and once you apply once if you get denied they don’t ever let you apply again which I do think is pretty stupid But my credit score has gone up now since getting this card I was approved for more. Now I have about ten cards and make sure to use them wisely

My card is constantly suspended for no reason
I loved this card, I was so happy to be able to start building credit. BUT the first purchase I made with this card ($12 from safeway) caused it to immediately suspend. My first purchase! So I figured that maybe the card just needed to learn my spending habits so it doesn’t assume fraud, and gave it another chance. After I got it unsuspended, it worked for a day and a half. I tried to buy my ($20) medication and boom, suspended again. I waited 8 days for them to figure out that no, this isn’t suspicious activity. Calling didn’t help, you can’t get through to the people making those decisions, you’ll be bounced around and told “you’ll get an email when they make their decision”. Finally, unsuspended. The purchases that have been blocked are all in my hometown, under my name, and under $50. So finally I figured that I’ll try ONE more time, out of a need to establish my credit. Bought a $5 item, which was fine, then a $15 item, and the familiar “suspended for suspicious activity” message popped up once again. I tried to call numerous times to see why they kept assuming suspicious activity, all they could say was “I don’t know, we’re looking into it”. So yeah.. be wary. BTW, I had no bad credit previous to this, just no credit at all as im a college student.

WORST CC TO GET WITH NO CREDIT
Ive had a credit line with this company for a few years, the only reason i have one with them is because they were the only cc company to accept my application considering i was young and had no established credit. It was fine when i paid on time until i lost my job and my financial/ living situations changed and I couldn’t keep up with the payments. The interest on this card is HIGH at 33% and they dont allow bank transfers or give credit limit increases. If your payment bounces from your bank and you pay a day late they charge $30 fee no remorse. They offer NO FORGIVENESS whatsoever and I was declined for a credit limit increase so i can pay it off and not have so much interest even though i have a good history of my account paying on time and in full. they are charging me almost $45 a month in interest and that’s nearly half of what i can afford to pay every month. this company only cares about money and is a scam to get people with no credit to work with them so they can make money off of them with high interest. After i pay it off closing my account. my other credit lines dont do this. Literally go to any other place to get a credit card!

Forcing people to cancel
I have had the Petal 2 card for over two years. It was a good starter card to build credit, but now it is suddenly emailing many customers that they will be downgrading the Petal 2 card down to Petal 1 Rise. With this downgrade, there are no new benefits but a new annual fee of $96. This is higher than the annual fee of the Petal 1 Rise if you apply for it instead of being downgraded, which is $59 per year. I have read many peoples feedback on this same matter, and it is affecting all types of customers—those who have not touched the card in years, as well as those who are currently using it as their only credit line. Customer service will not give any reason to why people are being downgraded. Many people giving feedback, including myself, have had no late payments ever or any negative reason to justify a downgrade. It seems Petal is simply forcing people to cancel and close their credit cards for whatever reason. Through email or phone call, no answers are given other than “this is a common practice in the industry”. They mention these changes are based on the “economy and other factors” but cannot and will not state why it is affecting specific people.

Update - Love my Card!
This was a great starter card for me. I was so scared about credit and how it worked, but Petal was truly amazing in not only improving my credit score, but just laying everything out in an easy-to-understand way. You always know your balance, how much interest you will owe, and how to avoid interest in the first place. I only got approved for $500 at first, and now have a much better card with a higher limit I use alongside this one, but that’s not putting Petal down in any way. They are even adding new features all the time (recently Apple Pay and cash back rewards), which is something you can’t say about many cards. The only thing I’m not a fan of is that there is no option to get a credit limit increase in the future as of now. I left a negative review about the app not working on iOS 13, but it has since been updated. (Though I would LOVE dark mode)

They turned my no fee card into a monthly subscription
I’ve had problems with Petal since the beginning. They advertised a card based on my credit score, income, AND total assets, but when I applied, no questions about that were asked and none of that was taken into account. So, I ended up with a very small Petal 2 credit line (I had two cards with 10x the limit they gave me). They were very unprofessional when I asked them to reconsider, and basically said, “Take it or leave it.” Then, after about two years with no missed payments or anything on my end, yesterday I got an email saying they were changing my account to an $8/month subscription! What reputable company has ever done that? And if you don’t like their new plan for your account, you can’t switch to another free card, they tell you to just cancel your account. My agreement with them was for a no-fee card, and this is clearly a bait-and-switch tactic to squeeze extra money out of their card holders, so I cancelled. Do not apply for this card!! There are so many better credit cards out there, trust me, you don’t need this one with a yearly $100 fee.

Randomly Suspends My Account Without Warning
I have had this card for about a month, and it has already suspended my account twice. The first time was less than a week ago, when it was suspended during the weekend. I was only able to get it back working on Monday as their customer support doesn’t work weekends. They said it was suspended due to me “mis-entering” the card information 4 times online when trying a purchase. Both my wife and I attempted to order something several times and we are certain we entered the card details correctly. It is not rocket science. As of today, Wednesday, my card is once more suspended. I have only made one minor purchase in between suspensions, which was at Kroger. I tried to purchase groceries this evening and my card was declined, and an automated email has informed me I have been suspended again. As one may imagine, this card has grown to cause many frustrations in the short time I have had it. For more intel, my account is not overdue, so I am genuinely left confused and disappointed.

Annoying app
The card itself is nice, no international fees, accepted almost everywhere, easy to use and the customer service is super helpful. The app is so annoying and nearly everytime I try to login, it asks to verify my identity with a text. Using Face ID i feel this shouldn’t be necessary and just adds an extra step almost always. This is especially frustrating when I have been abroad as I have a different SIM card out of country and can’t even receive the text, essentially blocking me out of viewing my account info. This has happened countless times. Also, it sometimes picks and chooses where it is accepted and I have had the card declined for reasons that I do not understand and just looks bad when out to eat with friends and it randomly won’t be accepted at well established places while abroad. Cool concept for a card, easy to get accepted, and the app is nice and user friendly. But with the countless times I’m unable to access the app due to the extra verification has really turned me off from card itself.

Petal is Amazing!
I usually don’t review apps even if they’re amazing. But petal definitely deserves it. Maybe it’s because they’re relatively new and want to attract the most costumers, but hopefully they continue doing the great job they’re doing. After a speedy application I got accepted quickly too, the card took about a little more than a week to get to me. And ever since then I’ve fallen in love. I use petal to purchase almost everything, the no foreign transaction fees, the monthly statements that make it easy for me to understand what I’m paying and why. They give you store numbers for transactions and a the store or company number where you can reach them if you have any problems. On top of having a super user friendly app, a great looking card, cash back and reasonable rates they have an amazing customer service department. Petal cares! And it shows.

Amazing and helpful Application
Hey y’all, Petal makes it easy. The app layout is straight forward and easy to use, and it moves seamlessly from one section to another. You can check your balance on the main page, then pay it off just by clicking over to the next page on the app. The app brings over all your benefits from your account and lays out how to increase your cash back; serving as a reminder to keep up on the card payments and showing that the rewards are close within reach. This is my first credit card and the app just streamlines the process and my credit is doing great in part because of the help this app provides. Get the Petal App, you won’t regret it.

Cardholder since the beginning, yet decreased my credit line...
I have been with Petal since they first started accepting customers. I aways pay off in full, and have never been late/missed a payment whatsoever. My experience has always been pleasant even with the lack of any rewards (the new ones they rolled out are garbage at best), until recently that is... I received notice my credit limit would DROP to $750 from several times that amount originally due to “lack of usage”. All the while, when asking for a credit limit increase in the past, I was told “MAKE SURE YOUR UTILIZATION IS LOW AND YOU PAY OFF” by their customer service. I have never had a card decrease my limit due to not using it enough, especially after being a positive customer for so long. I am closing my account as it is just clutter in my wallet anyway, and do not recommend Petal to anyone except those who have subpar credit and really need something like this. Fortunately, I’m not there, so I’ll stick to my higher rewards cards and forget about Petal. :)

Don’t do it beginners
This company was mediocre at it’s best. 4 year run nearly 5 years and my second credit card now might have to close it because of a unreasonable fee. Started with $1000 credit limit then a year later down to $500? Always tried to increase my limit to not use above 30% but what can you do with 30% of $500? Nothing. I will fight to keep my credit age as is but it may not be worth the struggle with such a horrible company. As good as it looks now, don’t do it. Stick with Chase or Amex, even Discover is better. Get a secured credit card if you have to but do not get this card, there’s no way to increase limit every other month. Company got greedy hopefully they get bought out or knocked out the credit card game. I have 10 credit cards and this was the only card below $4,000 for me. My total credit limit is $96,000 currently with Amex Platinum and a Gold card under my belt and a 780 credit score so take my word for it and don’t do it look elsewhere.

Terrible
Worst credit card company I have ever seen. I am a college student who doesn’t want to pay an extra fees. I signed up for Petal because of the no annual payment. They added a fee that I didn’t even know about, and I had stopped using my Petal card for transactions. One day i get an email that I owe over 200$ for a racked up interest on an 8$ monthly fee. Petal sends me an email that if I pay of $55 I could close my account and owe nothing more. That was not the case. I paid off the $55 and my balance was not waived. They are greedy people who think nothing for their customers. I then had to pay off the remaining $150 I should have never owed because I signed up when there was no Annual fee. They did not make sure I knew about the new added fee, never received an email, and down $200 as a college student is a big deal. I suggest you take your credit card journey elsewhere as they will do nothing to help you.

At least I found it was a terrible app asap
I make good money. I have a decent credit score, not amazing but nowhere near bad although not that bad credit but owe 300 in one credit account that I’m paying off still so why didn’t pedal or petal or whatever not approve me?? All I gave was my name, address, social and phone number. Craziest thing was according to their website… “ You are not currently eligible if: Your current address is a correctional institution You have previously applied for and were approved, or currently have a Petal card account You have filed for bankruptcy within the past 48 months” None of these apply to me even close. Wanna know when I filling out my pre approval application I did do one thing. Everyone hates to be marketed to especially from a website I might not even be approved for so I went ahead and unchecked the (not required by the way)box that basically says” we’re gonna sell your data for marketing purpose” most likely because they probably love money more than anything and can’t get enough of it. That’s literally the only reason why someone with a credit score and barely any debt would be shot down within 3 seconds of clicking on the button to see if I’m pre approved. So do with that what you will but I wouldn’t check the box.

So far so good
I am very pleased with Petal so far. As someone who is trying to rebuild and establish credit after a years-long hiatus, I am happy to have a credit card that makes it really easy to stay on top of things- and rewards you for doing it! I paid the minimum payment early on my first monthly statement and already got a cash back reward! I thought I’d have to wait until the end of the fiscal year 😂 It’s nice to see the perks in real time. Also, their customer service is pretty phenomenal. Very friendly and personable staff unlike what I’ve experienced with traditional banks and credit card companies. Keep up the good work guys!

Change your stupid verification phone number login
I recently changed my phone number and thought Oh it’ll be fine. I’ll just go into the account settings or call them up and I’ll be good to go. Ha nope. You have to use your freaking phone number to login every time and that is the only way. Cause my password is totally not safe already and face id. What a joke. They’re email is screwed up and they can’t approve all the written information for my new number. Like another reviewer said, do i really need to go through an fbi interview to change my phone number and they can’t trust the information you are telling them over the phone?! Common guys. Get with the program. Every other credit card company i have i just punch in my new phone number and done. No hassle. You can’t even login through your computer without your phone!

Does not take Zions bank
This is a great card, no problems yet. After like 4-6 months of having the card I got a credit line increase which was nice. The only issue is that my husband could not get the petal card because they don’t have Zions bank listed. He was the one that really needed to start building credit after some fraud happened to him. They accepted my credit union BECU just fine though. Also they need to figure out how to get to the point of adding people under you so I can add him to my credit card like the discover it credit card does. That’s the only way to build someone else’s credit who has had fraud happen to them.

Changed my Card Account without notice
I’ve had the Petal 2 card for almost 2 years now. It was good for what it’s purpose was, to build credit. I hadn’t been using it as much since I now get better rewards elsewhere on different card accounts. They recently sent me a notice saying that they were changing my account to the Petal 1 Rise effective next billing cycle with a new $96 annual fee for essentially the same card. No explanation was given for this change and they said I would need to close the account for this not to go through. Needless to say I canceled very fast (which I think was their intention). All in all it’s a fine card for building credit, just didn’t have a good ending experience with them and won’t be using Petal products in the future.

Beautiful card
The idea of this card is so beautiful and I honestly really love this card. There are a new bugs though- sometimes different banks have a delay with payments and logging in to access your bank doesn’t work. For me, I had to add my routing and account number so the account totals were inaccurate on that page. I wish Apple Pay and tap to pay were norms. I also believe you should be able to request a lower APR and a higher limit if you’ve paid off everything on time since you’ve had the card. Overall, I love this company and I will definitely be a long time customer. Petals support team really is different than others and they work so hard!

Great card for beginners, Not recommended for experienced card users
Had this card for a while now have always been extremely responsible with it so I can’t talk about their fees or interest. One thing I will say is the app is extremely easy to use and understand. The main issue I have with the card is once you hit their final rewards point there are no further credit increases or cash back incentives to make me want to use this card on a day to day. I keep the account open but I wish they offered more to credit users with a good history and score is all. Highly recommend for new credit users tho.

Excellent for Travel!
I applied for Petal so I could have a credit card in Europe that wouldn't rack up international fees like my Chase credit card and was actually usable outside of the US unlike my Discover card. Petal has been my go-to card and I'm really enjoying the perks and the super-low interest rate. As a student, it's hard to find credit cards that don't hold your short credit history against you, but Petal has been fantastic! The app is very streamlined and straightforward, which is my second-favorite part of the experience. The best? The card is so pretty! I absolutely recommend Petal!

Petal
1. Petal is very simple to use. There is no cash advances or hidden fees or anything difficult that often causes more risk for credit card debt. 2. Cash back is real and you ACTUALLY get to see your cash back. 3. The Card itself is supper clean, simple, and yet stylish looking. No seriously I’ve gotten many compliments at bars or restaurants on the sheer look and design of this card. 4. My only issue is the amount of time it takes them to actually withdrawal your payment from your bank account and reflect it in your available balance. Hopefully with more time to establish itself this will become less of an issue or the time will have at least shortened.

Punished for perfect payment history
I have had this card for about 2 years (Petal 2). I have always really liked it, it has a great app user interface, offers cash back and updates payments fairly quickly. Unfortunately I, like many others, have suddenly been downgraded to Petal 1 with a monthly fee of $8. After reading about it on forums there seems to be no reason for this, most people who, like me, have great credit and have never missed a payment are also experiencing this. I recommend not opening an account with them because they clearly will change your terms without reason or much notice. If you are also experiencing the surprise fees and/or downgrade I highly recommend closing your account like I will be doing. It’s a real shame!

Good for starter only!
Had petal for the past 4 years and just closed my account. Don’t get me wrong if you have no credit, this might be an ok card. The annual fee is honestly pricey for having very little benefits. After 4 years I was only given a $700 limit and paid every month in full. The card was better in the begging, no monthly fee and good for starting out. Sad that they refuse to raise my credit limit, I have credit cards 20k and 40k and honestly sad to let this card go! Hope they change for the better! I’m giving it 3 stars cause it was really good in the beginning and was a nice card but has gone down hill! Hope this helps others!

A truly modern credit card experience
I’ve had a Citibank credit card since 1989 and an Amex since 1992. They both offer a lot of great functions on their apps but they feel like last century’s businesses trying to catch up. Petal is the first credit card that has an app that seems like they “get it”. Yes, the app isn’t as feature-rich as some other cards but I expect they’ll get there. Most important, while it’s not of use to me (I have long-established excellent credit) I can see how their “credit card for people without a credit history” is really clever.

Helps jumpstart your credit
Listen—when I was young, I made not-the-best financial decisions and it negatively impacted my credit score. Petal genuinely got me on a path toward rebuilding my score, with it increasing by over 100 points and dramatically increasing my overall available credit among my cards. I’ve gone from being declined Discover cards to now holding AmEx, and my credit has never been better. Petal is a great card to get you back on the path toward financial stability and help jumpstart your credit; I’m giving it 5 Stars.

Preys on Low Credit Buyers with a Myriad of Fees
Petal just updated the terms of their card to charge $8 per month, plus an additional fee for any transaction it deems “cash-like.” Upon further inspection this includes transactions made online or in person for anything related to betting or gambling, crypto or crowdfunding, payment services, and legal matters like bail bonds. What’s worse, the minimum for each is $10 or 3%, whichever is higher. This means that, in theory, you could wind up with hundreds in fees in a given week all depending on what they flag as cash-like. This is clearly a predatory action taken against low income individuals who may have fallen on hard times. This new policy change is yet another tool to keep certain classes of people in a perpetual state of poverty.

Don’t Do It!
Unless you have a 700+ credit score they “might” approve you! But just stay far away! They are anything but a credit card with a conscience. They will run a credit check and their credit response comes from Experian, if you are new to credit or just starting out or have been delinquent but have paid off your delinquency you will still be DENIED! I have a 645 credit score i had late payments in the past year when i got laid off, but all that has been paid to date when i went back to work. i’m concerned about my personal info. now in their possession and who knows what they will do with it! But you better hope you make a good salary and have a clean credit with just a 700+ credit score. They a joke like everyone else that so claim to help your credit

Stay Away! Bait and Switch!
Today I received an email that my account will be downgraded to Petal 1 with annual fees. I have had Petal 2 for 2 years, it was my first card, I have moved on to better cards but still use this one occasionally for small purchases to keep it active. First problem with Petal is they never give frequent credit limit raises. I only want the raises to build my credit, I never carry a balance. My other cards Apple and Chase, are almost 12X the petal! I even reached out and they say “an algorithm will do it”. It never happens. Second problem, after 2 years, my longest opened credit card, announced my fee free card will now be downgraded to an annual fee card, with no other benefits! That was the final straw, the reality is I only kept this card for my credit score because it was my longest open, however they are now charging me. So take this lesson, if you are looking for a first card DONT GET THIS! It will cause you future headaches and it’s not even a very good card to begin with! Go with a secured or some other first time card (make sure it does not have an annual fee though!)

Great card
Petal has surpassed my expectations in every way. A usable account limit, grace period, and payment posting. The one thing I would like to see improved is the long delay to adjust available credit. Payment post instantly but update to available credit takes a week or more which hinders the next purchase, especially when I pay the entire balance monthly. The app is lightning fast and accurate. It has been a great experience overall.

Sort reviews by most recent- it’s a bait and switch
Starts out as a no fee card but they’ll change the conditions on you, holding your credit score hostage- you can either pay $8/mo or close your account (which can negatively impact your credit score). No, you cannot switch to their card with less benefits and no fees- stay and pay or leave and take a hit you pick! Worse yet they will use your data to feed a risk modeling tool that they then sell (and rake in profit) to other companies looking to take advantage of people trying to get financially stable. They are promising their investors that they will be profitable by 2024, but that won’t happen if we boycott this kind financial of exploitation/greed.

Worse than credit one
I was accepted for their card in September. It is now January. I have been asked for my id, and they had me scan my face into an app twice, just to change my mailing address. They claimed to have sent me this card multiple times and it has never shown up. Customer service surprisingly answers in just a couple minutes and then they don’t want to help for squat. I would give a decent review if I could ever even receive the card! I don’t even want to give them one star, I should be able to leave a dislike and substract 5 stars from them. Cancelling this card I never received will burn my credit and there’s nothing I can do. I should sue Petal, even though I’m not going to.

Absolute Scam
For the love of god do not open a petal account. I opened mine 3 years ago and regret it so much because if I close it, my credit score will plummet as it’s my oldest card. I hate that you can only get the 1.5% cash back if you pay off your card which means you’re stuck in an endless loop of keeping the card so you can use the cash back to pay your balance and if you cancel then you lost some of that eligible cash back. In addition, they randomly charged me a monthly membership fee without my consent. PLUS, there is no option to close your account on the app or website from what I’ve seen and heard, you have to do it by calling their horrible customer support phone line.

Avoid at all costs.
I’m amazed that this app still has such a high rating. I’ve been a customer for years, never missed a payment, no complaints at all. A couple months ago, they decided to downgrade my (and thousands of others’) Petal 2 card (no fees) to a “Petal 1 Rise” card, and charge me a higher monthly fee than new customers. So be aware that they will change the terms of your agreement, offer you no explanation, and treat loyal customers like garbage. They pitched their card as one that would help you build credit, so who knows how many of their customers don’t have much credit history and will be left at square one or worse if they close their account. Sounds a lot like holding their less advantaged customers hostage. They went from being one of the best CC companies I’ve dealt with to using scummier business tactics than any of the mega banks around. Mind boggling. And the cherry on top is that you used to be able to close your account on the app, now you have to call a crappy support line and pray. Just don’t do it. Look elsewhere.

NOT GOOD! Will switch up cards on you.
First off, I have excellent credit and have made on time payments for the entire 3.5 years I have had the card. About 2 weeks ago they emailed me that they would be downgrading my petal 2 to a petal 1 rise card that has annual fees totaling $96. This is awful considering there are a plethora of other cards that offer the same or better benefits for free and I was getting them for free until now. Now I had to close my second oldest card. If this is gonna be your first card I would seek a card from some other issuer that won’t pull the rug out from under you. Downgrading a card is one thing, but charging me fees when I was on a free card is a whole other thing.

Pretty Good
I actually got this card because I wanted the 2% cashback, but it is a really good card if you’ve never had a credit card before. My only complaint is I like being able to pre schedule payments for anticipated purchases, but the app won’t let you. Also, while I’m sure it’s helpful for other people, the email and notification alerts that come when you're about to pay off the card but you “don't have the funds in your account” are annoying, especially when the next day is payday so I’ll definitely have the funds.

WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE
I’ve returned items from a store and the Petal card company messed up on the return and charged me instead. I have screenshots where it first says return and charges. I called them 3 times already and still have not gotten my credit return on my balance. They then changed what my online banking says that they did a “double” return and returned too much money. The balance in this card does not add up. Since the situation i only had one transaction which happened also on the day i returned some stuff and my balance is that purchase WHICH SHOULD BE LESS BECAUSE I DID A RETURN! I would not use this card company anymore. I am disappointed on how the customer service handled my concerns.

Petal advertised their Petal 2 card to me (an 18 year old with little credit history) as a “no fee” card that’s great for building credit. For two years I was very happy with the card. I recently got an email that they’re replacing my Petal 2 card with the Petal 1 Rise card. I did not authorize this, and the card comes with fees that add up to $96 a year. Now I have to cancel the card and lose 2 YEARS OF CREDIT HISTORY, which is almost all of my credit history. I have been building my credit since I was 18 and now I have to start over because Petal falsely advertised their card as being “no fee”. It seems like it should be illegal.

Customer support is lacking
So far I’m off to the wrong start with petal. The concept of the card and company are good but the execution of chromed service is poor. Customer support doesn’t seem to have the power or resources to escalate matters or do more that read off a script for now. I was approved for petal on Jan 28, due to not being able to change my address after a move I’m stuck waiting not to receive my card but to be able to request a card sent to my new address. Having dealt with my other credit card companies customer support is very obvious that they are more invested in providing quality customer service. At one point after waiting on the phone I was told to email petal for better help. What is like to see from petal: Apple Pay/ability to add card to wallet before card is sent out. In app messaging with customer support. A way to verify identity rather than wait a total of 60 days to change an address and receive a new card. Customer support trained to answer questions and resolve problems. So far petal is not very impressive and hasn’t.

Easy to use
I’ve been using this card for about 3 months now and I have no complaints! The app is easy to use, as well as the desktop webpage. The card has a neat design that has never given me any issues at the multiple stores and gas stations I’ve used it at. The cash back and payments for the bill cycle sometimes lags but it goes through smoothly! Love this card! As a past damaged credit score owner this card is helping me build up.

Nice Card for starters
Great card helps with building credit as I am young (20years old) although this card can take long to report payments on to the bureaus but it’s get there, and also I’ve never had any surprises with fees or money because I’m pretty much always on time, but a teller from Wells Fargo told me it was kinda high but .. like I said I don’t have any problems and you won’t either if your on top of it . Current credit limit :$750 , they haven’t given me a raise yet lol

Amazing Card and App!!
Not only is the card wonderful but the app is amazing! Good looking on the eyes, easy to navigate and, extremely thorough! I really do wish all cards were like this one! Honored to be a Petal costumer and looking forward to my future with them! I rarely write reviews but I absolutely had to let the company and potential future customers know how incredible Petal really is! Thank you Petal you have a great team of people!

loved this card.. greatly disappointed..
this was my first credit card i started with getting my credit going! i absolutely loved the layout of the app, the speed of transactions and payments, etc., just a great card! highly disappointed in prior and recent changes and will not be recommending this card anymore. one review isn't going to break their company, but if you're on the fence, i no recommend caution to the extreme.. when i got it 2 years ago, it was genuinely a really nice alternative to a brick-and-mortar bank card, even referred others if they were interested. within the past year or so, they increased interest rates pretty decently, which was manageable; most everything spiked. the day of this review, i get an email stating they're adding an $8/mo charge for having the card and adding transaction fees on certain transactions, among other things.. recently, i did share with my close friend that i was worried this company was 'milking' existing customers, and here we are. personally, i do not think the value of the card is worth $8/mo compared to a card that is free or even an annual charge. the cash-back is completely third party (you get more cash back doing it yourself). the consistency and substantial changes have forced me to close my account, which ultimately will cut my credit age average.. if you want a consistent card, do not recommend. if you don't care, it's pretty flexible..

Petal has horrible CS
They will not defend you in the event of a dispute. I had a $18 order that I had not received from Doordash, but I was unable to contact DD about it because the issue was several days old and I was unable to reach them due to issues on their end. So my only option was to dispute through the credit card company; however, they always agree with the merchant, regardless of the evidence you present. I was also unable to receive a refund on a jewelry I ordered from TikTok for my niece but NEVER RECEIVED. They sided with the merchant and demanded additional evidence.... MORE EVIDENCE THAT I AM NOT GETTING WHAT I ORDERED? Told me to file a police report for something that was $25+… wow!

Smoothest and most up to date credit card service I’ve ever used.
My bank and I have had many issues before with paying credit cards. Late payments due to system lag, communication between servers being buggy, visa not receiving a payment, and then crediting the account 3 months later twice for it... you name it. Well with petal I don’t have to contact anyone to make a purchase or payment. They’re just a tab away.

Nice card but terrible customer service
If you get this card make sure u don’t lost your phone or SIM card because there’s no way you can change your phone number. I called multiple times to get help so I can get access to my account but they refuse to help me because I don’t pay my phone bill. It’s really frustrating the way that the lady from customer service told me “you cannot access to your account anymore” “you have to call to make your payments or get your statements” Isn’t it way more easier having the option of changing my phone number without an FBI interview? This is ridiculous.

Address verification software outdated
I downloaded the app and tried to apply however was not allowed to submit an application due to an error in the address verification system. The system will not pull up my address and when I try to put it in manually it tells me I must live in the United States. I tried using what would be called a common gps address of which that street name hasn’t been legally used in over 50 years, the drop down menu would show the address but when click next is says address not found. I would highly recommend getting your address info from the post office not google if you are going to use it verification

it could be better .. !!
Currently and since it was approved the credit limit is 750, and I have requested an increase in the credit limit because my score is 765, and my monthly expenses exceed 2000 a month and so it could be the main use card but they informed me That it is not possible to make changes to the credit limit, and it is sad because the bank should allow it to be possible and more so if your record is excellent and a good payment habit without any errors or delays. This is how clients like me do not see it useful if you do not have a credit limit according to your use and your good management.

App not working
I pretty much like the card a lot. I appreciate the tips that come through on it about if you’re paying at least 15% of your total and how you can increase your credit line is all great, but I’m only happy with it when the app works half the time I open it it says not found there’s nothing I can do visually on the app I can’t hit any buttons I can exit out of it and try to go back in and it just keeps saying not found so then I have to delete the app and then re-download the app.

Screwed themselves
Been a customer for 4 years. Definitley helped me build up a good credit score. Support was very helpful and responsive. Now the ugly is that starting July I'm going to be charged monthly $8 to use a credit card that I use to buy and pay off.. it's a credit card not HBO max.. Lastly I've never gotten cash back from any of the merchants listed. Not a bad card to start it's great for building credit and seeing your score with no harm. But a subscription for a credit card is wrong and advertising cash back but never delivering is also wrong. I'll be canceling and switching companies soon.
