Love idea… Would like to see more though
The idea of this app is great! But I just think it needs to be expanded a little more. It asked for a lot of information but it doesn’t seem to utilize in the application of the app/program. Both parents should have full access and if for some reason a child isn’t picked up on time, notification should go immediately to the other parent and emergency contacts. I know it just really seems like it says when the chow was picked up but there’s no notification if the child is not picked up by the parent that was supposed to pick them up. Not sure if that’s left up to the school to do but having an app for something like this would feel more assuring if you got a notification for any of the important notices for your child, pick up or no pick up. So you know your child is not standing out somewhere alone etc. because if not then the other parent is counting on hearing from the parent picking up the child which makes the notification a moot point if you still have to do all of that work. If something happens to the parent picking up the child, such as a car accident, which may leave them on able to call, at least the other parent (& emergency contacts ) knows something is off if they are busy at work.

Great app
I love the PikMyKid app it comes in handy. It manages the entire student dismissal process in a smart, secure, and expeditious manner and provide real time and updates and change management options to parents. What I enjoy the most about the app is that I can always go to the app and change how my child will get home. For example my child was a car rider then she just started (APEC) afterschool two weeks ago. All I had to do was go to the app and put/update that she no longer a car rider anymore and that she is APEC (after school) for now on. I don’t have to worry about a teacher forgetting that she is now to stay after school. This app make me feel good that my child is safe because the app notifies you when your child has been picked up and who she is pick up by. Also the school pick up is way quicker and easy soon the person see you are in the car line to get your student/child the PikMyKid app will notify you also. Also I had to update my phone number in the PikMyKid app they assisted me right away and updated my number as soon as possible no wait time or nothing. This app opens the lines of communication allowing parents to have better control over who picks up their students and when.

We started using the app at our new school
We have never used it before. However I think it’s great. As soon as we get there we announce and without a few minutes our child is outside with an adult from the school. It saves time from parking and going in. It also keeps the staff and other children inside safe. With all the terrible things about crime in the news at schools it’s nice to have this system in place. It also helps eliminate kids getting lost. I can see so many good things in using this app. If we didn’t have this pick up system in place I think it would be chaotic at dismissal time. I’m grateful for the organization this app and system has brought into our lives. In a busy daily schedule I like it and would 10/10 recommend! Be so blessed!

This app forces you to have location on always
I just got a notification from my iPhone that told me this app had tracked my location 8 times in the past 3 days. It’s Sunday evening. Please tell me why you need to have tracking on always and not just use only track while in use and then please tell me why are you tracking me on the weekend?! Something very very shady about this company and it’s not making pickup any easier. It’s taking longer and this past week the whole thing was down during one day of pickup so it took even longer than ever to get home!!! I hope this business goes under soon. I hate this app with a passion. I’ll be complaining to my kids’ school. I don’t want to use this garbage app, I’ll have to find another way to pick up my kid. In response to the Developer’s response to my original review: Your automated sounding response to my review is not satisfactory. You still have not explained why tracking needs to be on always and why my phone said I was tracked by your app 8 times over the weekend when school is not in session. I stand by my original review and will further say that I don’t trust that you’re not using the tracking for something nefarious or selling my data. It’s especially scary to not trust you all because tracking is involved and it’s for my CHILD.

I am not sure this is a safe app for picking up kids from lower grades
If you read the fine print for the user agreement , it states that this app should not be used for children under 13. Now , the way this is worded in the user agreement ambiguous; it could be interpreted that the app should not be used BY children under the age of 13 to pick up their younger siblings, for instance, or it can also be interpreted that the app should not be used to pick up children under 13 years of age. I think this is purposely made ambiguous. Also, the fine print states that “reasonable” precautions are taken to protect the information stored on the app, or the actions executed on the app, but the company essentially exculpates itself if anything should go wrong (I.e., if the app is hacked and information is stolen) . And the whole idea of placing a large decal with your child’s number in your front windshield? Our school also told us that “if you don’t have the decal provided, you can just write your child’s number on a piece of paper and place that in your windshield… so potentially anyone who finds out your child’s number could replicate it . I am not comfortable using this app for a young child. May be appropriate for middle schoolers and up.

No ideal for parents with fluctuating schedules
The geofencing is nice especially when I remember to open the app on my way to pickup. However, other than that I’m not a fan. In 2024 it should allow for more than two ‘parents’. My ex husband only picks up every other Friday but is a parent so he is one of the two allowed parents and rightfully so. However, I have very hectic work schedule and often times things come up at the last minute and I can’t get to pickup on time so my husband has to do pickup. Prior to implementing the app this was not an issue because everyone at rec knows him, however now he needs to be delegated and that is not possible after 11 am. I often don’t know until 4 or 4:30 if there is going to be an issue. My neighbors are a nurse and a firefighter and due to their schedules their parents do pickup once or twice a week. There should be an option to add four pickup people. Many families are not traditional and this app does not take that into account. This seems like an easy update.

Efficient way to organize the kids’ pickup schedules
I have a kindergartener and 5th grader at the same school. This is the first year they’ve implemented PikMyKid. There were some kinks in the beginning, with the teachers not being informed on their end of changes I made (and were approved) on my end, but after the first few weeks, it’s been smooth sailing. Since the kids have so many different after-school activities, I’m in a carpool group with two other parents. So we are often picking up each others’ kids and/or their siblings. I’m able to designate another parent to pick up my child on specific days, and they get a notification on their end that they are the designated transportation that day. It’s very easy to set every Tuesday, for example, as after school TSA / car rider, while the default is bus rider.

New User Just This Year (2023)
Our middle school adopted this system just this year. Set up was a breeze for both of our children using QR codes. The interface is also fairly easy to use, but we needed assistance from the school staff to default our position to pick-up. After we were walked through, it actually made sense. Using the app is very simple as well. Most commands are executed with two button pushes, even if you have multiple children at the same school. The app works using proximity, so you can only pick up your kid (option on the app) if you are in close proximity, which I thought was great. With this app, the wait process to pick your child up from school is cut to almost nothing. Really enjoy this convenient and safe app.

CarPlay Needed
The app is pretty simple , but I am left fumbling around to get my phone out of the wireless charging spot in my car, trying to unlock it with Face ID, get to the tab to announce my arrival and click the button, all while making multiple turns. This app is the epitome of an app that needs to be on CarPlay. I don’t need dominos pizza on CarPlay, but there it is. I need PikMyKid on CarPlay. I could easily pull it up, at the previous stoplight, and wait until I get close enough to hit the announce button. No needing to grab my phone or unlock it and find the app. I have CarPlay up anyways, I could just swipe and click easy peasy.

Great concept and tool
I love the app! I’m back-up/additional transport for my great nephew. As an older person, I think the concept and app work fine. The app is simple and super easy to use. Not too many screens, steps or requirements. I would be curious to know if you all provide recommendation to the schools on how to use the app with their internal dismissal programs? Do you provide suggestions on quickest and most efficient ways to alert teachers? Is there another panel that schools use that alerts and shows list of dismissed students to teachers? The app can work perfectly but the teachers/schools have to close the communication gaps on their end. Thank you!

Great idea…needs a lot of fixes
Let me start by saying this is not a good app for parents who have a difficult co-parent. The school that my children attend requires this app for pickup. I was told that there can only be one parent who can delegate but that’s not true. The other parent lives 3 hours away, only have 2 weekends and month so he should not be able to have full access to delegation. If and when he does decide to show up for his visitation, I CANT DELEGATE HIM and let the school know he will be showing up. That’s an issue. I didn’t even know this information until he started adding people to the contacts and started delegating people who are not in our order. I’ve spoken with someone about it but the issue was not resolved. If you don’t delegate anyone, anybody with the app, can pick up the child and the app doesn’t tell you who picked the child up. That’s a flag for safety reasons. If someone gets my child, the app should say who that person is, even if they are in my (in app) contacts. I live 6 minutes away from the school and can click announce from my house. I should be required to be in a one block radius of the school for safety precautions. If these small bugs were fixed, it would be a better app.

Poor execution
The idea behind this app is well thought out, BUT it’s executed poorly! The idea of needing multiple people to pick up a student is correct but does NOT work. Adding approved contacts does not allow them to add my daughter, although all the appropriate steps have been taken. I’ve had to log those individuals into my account on their phones just so they can “announce” they are there to pick up my daughter. Simply put, this needs to be fixed! I know I’m not the only parent who sometimes needs a grandparent to pick up a child, and I just imagine how many other people who are waiting in line who can’t announce their presence, thus making this app useless. I haven’t heard if this is free or paid for by the school, but if it’s something the school pays for, it’s a WASTE OF MONEY.

Pikmykid Problems
Since I first installed Pikmykid I changed my email address. I do not remember my password. If I enter in, forgot my password, it reverts to my old email address, which I have not used for two years and tries to send a link to that provider. If I put in my telephone number, which seems to be an alternative. It gives me a notice that the telephone number already exists. I went to the school and two different people tried to make this app work so that I can pick up my grandson, but they could not do it. I emailed customer support at Pikmykid, but they only told me to do something that I already told them did not work. I would like to be able to pick up my third grader at school, but unless I can get this app to work, I will not be able to do it. It is very frustrating.

Safety First and Easy to Use
The app does exactly what it’s supposed to do; helping me to communicate when I am on campus to pick up my child. The app is consistent and I never have any issues with logging in. If there is a problem or you need to update information, they have really solid safety protocols to ensure nobody is going to be authorized to update your account. This is a great app, with no extra fluff or annoying advertisements. The poor reviews look like standard human behavior; blaming their tech anxiety on anything other than the loose nut on the other side of the keyboard.

Overly complicated, overkill for older kids
Asks for SO MUCH personal info, doesn’t seem to be able to actually use it, and has cookies you can’t turn off. Setting up a pickup is incredibly complicated, and the school QR codes expire quickly so you can’t actually use them when needed to delegate to people, you have to go in and add ridiculous amounts of info to just be like “X’s mom is picking up the kids today.” There also doesn’t seem to be a way to batch update multiple children so you have to do everything repeatedly for EACH KID. I literally had to wait 45 minutes to pick up my kids because there was an issue with the codes and the afterschool program hadn't figured out how to notify people that parents were waiting. Literally a clipboard with paper is better than this.

Convenient app
The app makes it very convenient to announce myself for pick up at school. It does however is lacking a chat feature when the app is acting up and on multiple occasions my child has been marked absent when she was clearly at school. Would be nice to override this somehow even if it was the schools fault for marking her absent. Tech support does get back to you in timely manner via email. Overall easy to use app. Only 4 stars because on the chat feature and override absence to announce myself to pick up my kid. But without this app I feel I would be waiting a lot longer in pick up line.

Parent and Admin at a school
I am both a parent and an administrator at a school that uses PMK. I find the parent app helpful to be able to open up my own child’s app and walk them through changes they need to make on their end. The only glitch I have found is that there are times parents need to login or logout for their child to show up after registering. Our school has been using the app for a year now and that is the only glitch I have heard from parents. The app is easy to use after playing around with it for a few minutes.

5 Stars Only Because The App Isn’t the Issue
So, the app… In my opinion, it’s great! For the day that I was allowed to use it, it was convenient and quick to get my kids to the car pibe to be picked up. My problem is with the school. This is why I didn’t change my rating for the app, because I know it works. Problem is, at this point, we have the app for nothing. The school turned off the announce feature which allows parents and guardian to call for their kids without giving a number or posting an obstructive card in the window. The school’s reason? Too many parents called their children too early and too many kids were having to walk the car line to find their rides. No effort was made to re-educate. The school just gave up. Now, this whole push they made to have every parent download the app was pointless because they turned off the best feature. At any rate, great app!

Needs work
School zones are supposed to be hands free. The dismissal button needs to be larger and front and center so that I’m not fussing with my phone and squinting at my phone on my dash mount while driving around children. If the button to dismiss my child could be in the middle of my screen and as large as possible when I’m in range that would be much better. I shouldn’t have to squint at a small button next to other buttons of the same size while trying to pay attention to everything else. My phone isn’t in my hand. It’s two to three feet away and it’s a standard size phone, not a “plus” model.

Great Fix for Carpool Woes
With this being my first year having to deal with carpool, I dreaded having to sit in a mile-long line hoping that my child will be ready to go once I made it to the front of the school. Now, with PikMyKid, all I have to do is tap a few buttons and my kids’ school gets a notification that we’ve arrived, no matter how close or far we are from the front steps. Not only that, but we can also modify our kids’ pickup schedule to account for after school activities. What a great app!

Easy to use!
This is our second year using the app and it’s super easy to use. Adding kids to pickup list and changing pickup preferences is pretty straight forward. I had a slight issue loading my child’s information this year, but I quick letter to support team yielded a fast response in which the issue was fixed same day. The GPS is on point and doesn’t let you outsmart the app by checking in before you are actually on location. Lol. We don’t use the app extensively, but for carpool needs, it’s great!

Safer
This is my first year picking up grandson from school. I have to say I feel safer for him because on one occasion I notice a vehicle without a childs tag or number. The school personnel stopped the vehicle and asked whim they were there for. The driver stated the name but could not identify the number associated with that student. They were denied access to that child until proven. Now this app gives such information about child, but since they didn’t have it the child stayed with school until arraignments were okayed. Thank you

Needs additional funding for better programming.
This app isn’t all the way there, why it’s chosen for any school beats me. The app is glitchy, have had the white screen issue mainly, the issues seem to mostly stem in the delegation tab. When signing up as a delegate the process for adding a child is insanely complex and often times doesn’t work. The app overall is incredibly frustrating, and that is coming from a 19 year old studying a bachelors in cyber security. Please consider switching to a different platform if you are a school considering / using this until the app is improved. If you are a parent who is signing up to pick up your child, I wish you the best of luck.

Function of the app
This app is actually very helpful in terms of all the information given towards picking up a child. The location, name of child, grade, and pick up number are all provided. The transaction of information given between parents/personnel picking up and the staff associated with the school always goes nice and smoothly. Also adding other members to the pick up list for a child is always easy and i love that they need to verify before fully placing the members name on the list. App functioning properly and accordingly as stated in terms and conditions.

PiKMyKid -Great idea, love it so far!…
This is my first year using this app. Plus first time school offers it. And so far its good. I’ve had no type of trouble, except when I’m trying to check in my child and the app is running slow, could be because of many parents trying to use it. But other then that, loving it. Also the times change to announce either to 2:25pm or sometimes 2:35pm. Not sure why… for early dismissal the times to announce stay the same … but again it’s my first year using it I’ll manage I’m sure…

Safe and easy pick up system
Going on year 2 of using this app for picking up my child and it makes the pick up process easy. With just the click of a button you’re able to announce you’re on campus to get your child and if you need to change the pick up method or person it’s very user friendly. One thing I wish the users had control over was the default pick up method, but overall it’s been great.

Great app, easy to use
Dropping off / picking up your kids from school can be absolute chaos. Especially when you have multiple kids! The last thing I want to stress about is, “Are my kids safe? Are they being stressed out by the process? Is there an easier way to do this?” Thankfully, this app has all but eliminated my concerns as a parent. I’m so thankful how user-friendly it is. I can confidently and comfortably drop my kids off, as well as pick them up. Highly recommend!

Pick My Kid app not so good
If I could give this app a Negative set of Star I sincerely would. Like Four negative stars! It really is crap at very best. It has a tendency to drop off ask you to re-enter all the information from scratch and of course that’s when you were in a car line waiting to pick your child up. Then there’s no provision for a teacher to notify the classroom you’re ready to pick your child up. And with that lack of ability you have confusion and delay, which screws everything up. So I don’t know why Saint Joseph Catholic school of Winter Haven Florida would continue to utilize this application. I know they’re a smart school but they are certainly demonstrating a great deal of stupidity by utilizing this particular application!!!

Love this APP!
Hands down love this App! It’s been life changing this school year for the kids . Took me a couple months to get use to so don’t be hesitant to use it because it’s technology. It really is so cool and the possibilities are endless. We’ve picked up friends from school with as easy as someone delegating me to be the pick up or Ive delegated my mom to pick up the kids . Love that I don’t have to frantically call the school anymore or rely on my 5-6 year old to remember their transformation. Love love love

Thanks for pickupkids app, every time I can fast to pickup one at chandler north by only one click operation then it can notify my kid out. Then I have enough time to drive around 6 miles to pick up another one. Thanks for pickupkids app. And this app can notify me if my kid attends after school hours then save my time.

UPDATED- the developer contacted me immediately! The school had figured out how to correct the issues, so I didn’t need their help but I appreciate it! This app is crucial for our school and I can’t even change the pick up method, which is the most important part.

Safest Pickup App
This is my child’s first year using the pickup app and I must say I am sooooo impressed! This app has so many different features and it allows you to announce that you are on your child’s campus with one click of a button. I really like how quick and easy this makes picking up my child. It takes literally 5 seconds. Another thing I want to highlight is the safety features it has. You are able to switch your child’s pickup location right on the app. Instead of having to wait on hold on the phone it’s at the touch of your fingers My child’s pick up lines moves very quickly now that PikMyKid app has been implemented. I only sit in the parent pick up line for about 3-5 mins. It really makes picking up easy and more efficient. Thank you PikMyKid!!!

Overall it’s a great app. However, there should be less layers. First page should have a list of delegation change delegation cancel delegation and drop down with two choices like select or finalize the delegated person, etc. then a second page to contact the app by email with concerns and questions. Should be more simple. Although it’s self explanatory, clicking here and there is such a headache, it brings you here there before you figure out which page you want to be on to do what you’re supposed to.

Great idea
The app works great. I love the fact that we can do early dismissal and or change the way the child will be dismissed from school. I did an early dismissal from the app 24 hours ahead of time. I received an email saying my early dismissal was approved. But when I went to pick up my children I still had to do the same things I’ve had to do before. So I’m not understanding why the app was even needed.

A good idea, hard to set up
My child's school adopted PikMyKid for the 23-24 school year, and while the app itself is a great idea in terms of efficiency, it took a full three weeks to get all the bugs worked out. This might have been the administrative staff at the school, or perhaps other parents being slow to download the app and add their child as they were asked to do. Whatever the reason, it caused a serious bottleneck for nearly the first full month of school. Now it seems to be working though!

No real App support
Had an issue with the app. The school and I already got to the bottom of it and it is a problem in the app. Well I emailed the support and they forwarded the whole email chain back to the school (which I did not want). They said it’s a personal issue and not an app issue. The problem is that the App Portal on the school end is jacked up and needs fixing. Yet instead of actually looking at the problem they just forwarded to the school and said “this is a personal problem”. I wish my school would use an app that works and offered support instead of a cop out.

The worst, and they bury the critical reviews.
You have my deepest condolences of your school gets a cold call from this company and they decide to implement it. My kid used to walk out at 220 and we’d be on the road at 227. Now I’m lucky if she gets out at 250 and hahahah good luck getting out of the lot. Their statistics of being 78% faster are a load of hot dumpster juice. Added! I hate it so much that I had to come back and update. I can’t express how intrusive the app is. It tracks your every step, harasses people who are designated to pick up, and gives notifications every day to my father in law, who has never had anything to do with it. And GOOOOOD LUCK if you designate someone to pick up, it never works and then you’ll get a frustrated call from the office bc the pickup line is jacked up. I quit the whole process and made my kid a walker. I pick her up in front of the school and will never use it again.

Good, easy to use’
Been using this app for the past four years, never had an issue! Customer support always responds right away and helps fix the issue right away. Easy to manage the days when pick up days are later due to after school activities.

Easy to Use
Pikmykid is easy to use on our phones. It’s use contributes to faster, more secure pick-up after school. The range of the app is far enough that we can announce, and the children can be out into the pick-up area by the time we drive through the line of cars to the pick-up area. Chris
