Was looking for an alternative to the popular Forest timer app and found Foca! While it doesn’t have the social aspect (as far as I know + I never used the social function of that app anyway), it does the job perfectly and is reasonably priced. I especially like that on iPhone you get the option to “buy what you need” instead of buying the entire app. The only extra paid function I wanted was the ability to choose how many auto-run sessions I could do and it was reasonably priced at $1.99 USD — not monthly, forever. Great job, developers! 👌🏻
I love this app as it is helping me get through my school work. I have noticed a considerable difference in the amount of work I could accomplish previously without the Pomodoro timer and the work I am completing now. Breaking my tasks into increments completed within 25 minutes with a break in between has made a significant difference. I wish I would have found this earlier.
The user interface is simple, no fuss, and sleek but I get no notifications or sounds when the session ends so it's not doing what I actually need it to do. I really wanted to utilize this app and upgrade to Plus for Statistics but I can't even benefit from the free version. I went to the FAQ page to look up how to configure notifications and it says for Mac users you can configure notifications using setting inside the Foca App. When I actually got to Settings inside the Foca App, it said "Background Notifications: On. Notify you when focus session ends" and I can't click into it or adjust the settings to find out why I'm not getting notifications.
This is a great app for the pomodoro method! The only this I wish it had, was like different sounds to let you know when it’s time for a break, and then when the break is over. I also would love some more calming sounds like ASMR or brown noise, or even some calming piano music. But other than that, I love it!
Recent updates made this app very usable. The “stretch” prompts for a break time are so-so (and I find the beeping timer annoying) but serve as a good reminder to stretch on breaks. Older version: Unable to choose 50 minutes for focus period (I do 50/10 instead of 25/5 for most work). It snaps to 45 minutes or 60. Didn’t keep counting in background. I switched apps and came back expecting my session to be almost over, but it hadn’t moved at all.
Perfect for those looking to implement a pomodoro workflow with amazing perks, like stretching exercises between sessions… I prefer these over other apps’ freeform breaks, which tend to give me just enough time to find a compelling distraction. Stretching is productive and feels good, a built in positive feedback loop.
The UI is really nice and it even has an option so that you cant directly stop the timer which keeps me from getting distracted. It even has a data chart which is a nice little gimmick. Would recommend.
I literally used this for the finals and I decently saved every information in that book in just 1 hour and a half I see myself highly distracted when not using it, it is amazing I would recommend using this app
Great app for keeping me focused and on task! Simple and easy to use. I might consider paying for the premium if it was compatible with my Apple Watch or let me choose my own playlist on my phone as the background sounds.
I am a college student with ADHD and anxiety. Foca has kept me from getting overwhelmed with studying by keeping keeping me on the Pomodoro routine. If you tend to have hard time with consistent, organized study habits, I highly recommend Foca!
I was just looking for a no ad, minimalistic, free, rotatable UI, that has good customizations for time, and this was the only one I found. Because of this, it deserves the money spent on extra features.
This is my favorite timer app. Is there any way to add a to-do list and a way to change the categories? That would make this app 100 times better. Thanks!
Doesn't let you set a focus time less than 10 minutes
I have ADD, and need to have focus times as short as 2-3 minutes. The app has a slider bar that lets you change the the amount of focus time, but it won't let you do anything less than 10 minutes. For me, this makes the app useless. I'm very disappointed.
It helps a lot in studying for finals and to get out of my procrastination state. I especially love the stretching exercise, it does relax my body a lot and makes me more refreshed. :3
The only analytics you can see of your Pomo history is in week view. Nothing to see about your daily stats. For premium it’s atrocious value. Why is it so hard to create a good pomodoro app?
hi this is very usefull app but after update it , it doesn't show finishing notification although notification is on can you solve this problem please?
Loved this app for the 3weeks that I had it,even though I didn’t start using it until a week or two ago. I’m starting to noticed that if I leave the app while my timer is going it just finishes. It’s very aesthetic and minimal for a Pomo app. I just can’t deal with it because I also do work on both of my phones. I’ll just have to use the Pomo app on my android!
