Great! Just lacking customization
This game is just as fun as Retro Bow to play. Really enjoy the game play and being able to play across all the different leagues. I really only have two issues with it. The main one is that there is no customization. One of my favorite things in Retro Bowl was that you could completely edit every team’s name, colors, and even their jersey. You could also edit players names as well. That is not something you are able to do in Retro Goal, even after paying the $0.99 for the unlimited version. I think it should be added, because I would to be able to edit all the teams and the player names as well. My other issue is that WAY too many yellow cards are given out to your players. Like I’m having 4-8 yellow cards given out every game, mostly to strikers and forwards, which makes NO sense. Attackers typically get the least fouls. And you don’t have control of this because it happens during the simulation part of game play. It causes an issue where I keep having my attackers suspended every other game almost. It is frustrating, but I enjoy playing the game so I get over it, but it would be much better if it didn’t happen as often. I’m fine with yellow cards be given out to my players, but in actual football matches, there’s normally 1-3 given out in a single game, not as many as I’m getting.

Amazing game, but not flawless
Retro Goal is a fantastic game. As the successor to Retro Bowl, I had high expectations for the game and in many ways, those expectations have been exceeded. However, I do think that the switch from the credits system to the new currency system might not be the best change. The cost of upgrades, contract renewals, etc. seem disproportionately greater than they were in Retro Bowl, and it almost feels like you’re being almost forced to spend real life currency to keep your team afloat.. obviously this is a mobile game so in-game transactions will be important but in Retro Bowl it felt like they weren’t necessary, something I can’t say about Retro Goal.. this is exemplified by the fact that some players in game are only available for purchase with actual money (also it would be nice if the game didn’t practically penalise you for accepting a contract from another team by giving you terrible players and terrible facilities regardless, it doesn’t make sense that accepting a contract from Man Utd would give you awful players, forcing you to have to spend actual money to be able to compete in the Prem, this was also not an issue in Retro Bowl, and thus made it feel a bit more realistic/fair, not incentivising the spending of actual money). It would be nice to see a more balanced in game currency system, but outside of that, I think the game is exemplary, the mechanics are great and it’s really fun, great game.

Really nice game, needs some additions. MUST PLAY
JUST SO YOU KNOW: Offline and online game. Must pay for full version after 10 games (1$). Easy to learn controls. Simple and fun. This is probably one of the best mobile football (soccer) games I have played on mobile, it is offline compatible which I LOVE a tip for new players, the game is free, but after 10 games you are forced to buy the full version (1$). Some aspects of the game confuse me such as the yellow flag above a player, does that mean they are offside? I’m not sure. If you could put some sort of dictionary for everything that would be really nice! Suggestions: I think it would be nice for new players to add an option to buy the unlimited version+ an amount of gold, for a reasonable price, so that people get get the full version AND some extra gold (or money or whatever the currency is 😂) But still have the option to buy just the full version. Another suggestion is; as the game becomes more popular and such, I think it would be very fun to be able to play defense, instead of it just saying “chance missed” whenever it goes past half field. Thank you for making this game, I love both this game and retro bowl. I hope the developers can make more of these games! If the developers could read this and respond to this I would be very happy! 😃 From, your #1 fan (probably not #1 but still up there)

Awesome game but needs a few ideas
After purchasing the unlimited version of the game I set out to become the best team in the league. After a shaky first season I bought a high rated forward and this is when things changed. With one good fast goal scorer on your team, you can almost score every time. After realizing this I upgraded the defense and set out to be #1. After just 2 more seasons I had completely dominated the liga league. I had around 5000 saved up for when I moved onto the premiere league. After simply one season I had taken my team to the top of the premiere league. At this point I wasn’t sure what to do. I had dominated every league I was in and now I was the champion of a world-class league. What I would tell the developers is, maybe make it so that instead of picking a team and taking a job I wish that once you had become champion of a league that it should send you to a higher level league. Once you’ve beaten most of the lower level leagues then send them to the premiere league. It just seems odd I can go straight from a low level league to the premiere league and dominate from the start. There needs to be more linear progression imo.

Very Disappointed
I am absolutely in love with RETRO BOWL and I’ve been playing it since it came out I have won every achievement and spent money on the game and still play it often. I was hoping RETRO GOAL was going to provide the same kind of lovely arcade style sports game but sadly IT DID NOT…First off, why is my team the only people with no competence no matter what start level they are. In what world would a 5 start player gain control of a ball and run a straight line out of bounds and no teammates make an attempt to make a run and if they do every single time my team gains possession they’re facing the wrong way because as I said they NEVER RUN FOWARD? How am I supposed to play authentic futball when my team acts like they don’t know how to play. I am playing as PSG with all 5 star stats and easy difficulty. I should not be getting angry at the ridiculous AI. Not to mention every time the other team touches the ball they somehow accurately clear it across the pitch and I miss my opportunity every time. The game is just downright unfair I already said I would spend money on it so I don’t know why it has to be so difficult to accomplish things. Please make the AI more responsive and play like real players. When they get the ball stop making them stand there backwards to goal. It’s unfair and unrealistic. I cannot complete passes if everyone of them is a back heel to the opposition.

Logic?
The only few problems I have with this game is like for one, every 4-5 star player wants good training facilities, don’t get me wrong I get that but like if you switch teams it’s hard to get new players because you have to max out the facilities or else you don’t get any players you want. Retro bowl was nothing like that, you could get any player you want without maxing out anything which was much easier and not as complicated as retro goal. Lastly, if you go to a really good team, you should already have great players, for example Bayern, Barca etc you switch to those teams and neither of them have a single good player. Make it make sense! I’m not saying they should be packed but like even if it’s just a 4-5 star defender or midfielder it would be better than nothing. I’m playing as Bayern and I’m literally getting dominated by teams that are trash in real life and I have no good players like what? I like the game yes, but it has a lot of flaws that kinda make the game sour and make you a bit upset. I don’t like how you have to buy the whole version after ten games, retro bowl was a great game that didn’t force you to do that. I did have a 5 star striker and he literally can’t score, all he does is hit crossbar. If you fix these mistakes or at least make the game have a better logic than I would have given it a 5 star.

Has potential to be special
I downloaded this game and had fun after the first 10 games and decided to purchase the full game. Game has been super fun to play and I have not spent a single day not playing the game. However, I’ve played the game for quite some time now and have some complaints about it. My first complaint is the dreading “Chance Missed”. What’s the point of having a great goalkeeper and amazing set of defenders if I can’t use them to play defense against the opposite team? I’d love to be able to defend against the opposing team instead of seeing the “chance missed” message. My second complaint is player contracts. They make no sense. I had player contracts that were supposed to last 4 years+. However, after the season had ended, player contracts would be near of even expiring, which is really annoying. Not sure if it’s a glitch or what but please fix this. Other than that, I think that player and stadium customization would be great. Lastly, when switching to a big team, players should not be poor along with training ground, youth academy, etc. If I get the opportunity to switch to a team like Real Madrid, I would expect to have a great set of players. These are just some things that I’ve noticed while playing the game for the past few weeks. Hope you resolve these issues!

Has some issues, but a fun game overall
As a big fan of retro bowl I was really excited seeing this game hit the App Store, although it pains me to say it, it’s definitely a step down in its current state. The controls follow the same style of retro bowl where most of the interaction is swiping and dragging, but in soccer there’s far less downtime and so it feels a lot clunkier here. I often find myself accidentally shooting the ball backwards when I meant to make my player run a certain way. Also, the entire defensive element of the game is just luck based rabbit hole gameplay. It feels really punishing and un-fun to see your team give up 2 goals because you got unlucky and it’s just out of your control, finally gotta say my biggest issue is when the forwards get this little yellow flag over their head and just stop playing, as someone who doesn’t have a soccer background I have no clue why this happens but I gotta say It is incredibly frustrating to pass to someone, see them get that flag icon, and they just let the ball roll away, I think there needs to be a better indicator/explanation as to why that happens and how to avoid it. I will say despite it’s flaws I have had a lot of fun playing the game. But there’s just some mechanics that are so frustrating and unclear it spoils the experience a bit.

Brilliant, but needs some work
Long time fan of Retro Bowl, an American football game from the same developers. I always hoped for a soccer game in that same style as RB is a very enjoyable game that I have played for years. Retro goal fills that space and is easily one of the best soccer management games you can download on the App Store. It runs smoothly and plays very well. I just think that it needs some time to get further updates that will perfect it. I have no major complaints other than that about this game. It is a very good game, it just needs to be perfected and have the details ironed out. I have been enjoying the gameplay since this game debuted and I see great potential. As with RB, the real fun starts when you have gone through some games and assemble a stellar squad, it takes some patience. Give this game a year and it’ll be one of the best gaming experiences in the App Store, period. I highly recommend playing it, every single goal is a guaranteed euphoric experience. New Star Games understands what mobile gaming should be and almost every game they have released has been a highly enjoyable experience that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys sports games.

Retro goal is one of the best mobile games I have played and I love how fluid the gameplay feels. Some things I think would add to the game is if it were given a little more personality and variety. For example all 5 star players have the same stats for their positions and the only difference between them are their appearance or special traits if they have one. I think it would be beneficial to add a few more stat types to differentiate and make the players more special. Also in game positioning is a bit awkward players just run where you are putting the ball instead of making actual runs like in a real game. It would be a cool addition if players had their own moves when you dribble with them or special celebrations. I also think that it would be easy to instill defense into the game which would be huge in giving the player more of a day with what happens in matches. International soccer and the addition of the word cup would also be another positive to put in. Glory across all leagues is something to strive for but everyone’s dream is to walk away from their career holding a World Cup.

Like the game but some problems
Once I got over a few problems I’ve had fun with the game. Now I just have a few problems first being players not wanting to join my club because my training building isn’t high enough level. This is annoying because I’ll have my training builder at a pretty high level but I still have to pay more and wait 2-3 weeks for it to be upgraded. Another problems I have is I will be playing a mess up and lose my chance. Then the other team will score (usually 1 time but I’ve had up to 3 times) and with that I might mess up at the 80 th minute and the other team will score and I won’t be able to play again and the game will end which is kind of annoying. (An example of this is a game where I was up by 3 in the 31 minute and I didn’t touch the ball again until the 73 minute and it was tied) Also the other team will kick it and my player will be about to get it and it will say chance missed. This is extremely annoying because a lot of the time it loses me the game or I will tie because I just lost a chance to score. But overall a pretty good game.

seems good but is bad
I downloaded the game and at first it was fun. i was new so i played easy and it was on offense. Almost every time they needed a goal or 2 they got it. I would have to score almost all my chances. The reason this is bad is you CANT PLAY DEFENSE!!! WHY? This is soccer not football. It is so easy to make defense but the creators don’t, if you don’t have possession behind midfield it’s called “ Chance Missed” even if you’re player was going to get it. The AI always waists so much time and even on easy will score. Some other minor issues is i’ve tried and tried but a midfielder unless on corner or a crazy rare shot behind the box cannot score. As soon as the player dribbles near the box he passes to an attacker no matter what, even if you control the player you don’t. Similarly players will randomly shoot when i want to dribble. Finally, every time the goalie hits it and it should go out it stops at the line and you are forced to miraculously save it without getting slide tackled. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME. The worst part is the game is not only pay to win with the new currency that costs more than Retro Bowl but it’s also just pay to play as after ten games you must pay to continue. Overall it’s ok but not as good as Retro Bowl so save your money.

Great game just needs a tiny more work
Love Retro Bowl and was excited for a soccer version. The overall game is great and after a short time of practice I had the controls mastered. The only big issues I’ve run into are easily fixable. First, the booking system is a little over the top. I had a player receive two yellows and red with 0’ minutes played. A bit extreme. Second, the system to switch teams needs a lot of work. I’m winning the champions league and accruing records with my first team then get an offer from Barcelona or Man U. These are typically elite teams. But when you switch over to them they have one star facilities and players. There is no incentive to leave your original team. That is a big issue in my opinion that needs to be adjusted. I would love if you could bring over the customization of retro bowl to this game too. It was fun renaming players and coaches. Currently that is not available. Other than those few gripes, this game is a lot of fun. I think in another year and some tweaks this will be the best soccer game available. Thanks for all the hard work devs!

Great game! But…
I’ve really been enjoying this game so far! The games aren’t too long so I can easily play during some down time. The ability to play across multiple leagues and competitions is very enjoyable as well and is good incentive to collect trophies across different leagues. My biggest complaint which is kinda game breaking, is the contract system. At the end of each season, I’ve had players whose contract won’t expire for another 3-5 years expire before the season ends. Which forces you to either renew or release them. And if you have a great team… each contract is not cheap and practically forces you to restart at the next season. Theres really no way around it unless you want to spend real money each season on the in game currency to have enough coin to renew all players, which is very unfair. Or swap teams/leagues each season. I sincerely hope this is a bug. I’m happy to spend a little money on this game for players and in game currency. Just not every season (which is about 20-30 matches).

Executed poorly
The concept of this game is incredible but the creators really botched its execution. The whole thing is rigged against you on purpose, the game bullies you into wanting to buy the “upgraded” version because your team is absolutely trash in the beginning. Even when you’re able to see progression in your teams stats the odds will always be against you in certain games. If any team has any offense better than your defense they will score on any turnover 98% of the time. This means every time you score they are extremely likely to score as well and if for any reason it’s turned over, you’ve now trapped yourself in a corner because they are almost guaranteed to score. It also doesn’t matter how good your offense is, if the other teams defense is better than 2 stars they can almost always keep up with your fastest player and will be ready to intercept the ball at any given moment. I’m sure once you’ve played the game a lot the stats of your team will be good enough but there is no sense of real progression because you get beaten all the way there and until that point there will always be a couple of teams who are practically unbeatable.

Details, Gameplay, and Business
First off, I think Retro Goal has the potential to match the game it rhymes with, it already has the best game details and little details, from seeing your name pop up in a news clipping saying you dont want a player back to one saying you are keen on landing a job at your childhood club, theres literally a social side to the game, something most games dont have, and its really a nice touch. The gameplay feels smooth and reliable once you get the hang of it, definitely wish there was more depth to the ref system than yellow cards for every foul though, but thats nitpicking. I took the challenge of playing hard mode and it is a lot harder than you would expect, especially after being a retro bowl guy, where hard seems like rookie mode, Retro Goal means what they set as difficulty, you barely get 5 seconds on the ball at that point. And business is a big part too, everyone knows soccer, much like the nfl, is a business, its all about the revenue at the end of the day. Every offseason is a budget build because you need that defender so they stop scoring five goals on you every game, but if you get the 4 1/2* one, you wont have enough to buff your forwards, and even then, you might not be able to bring back your youth player that just scored 40 goals, thats what i love about Retro Goal, its not one dimensional and it has so many little parts about it that makes it solid in its SECOND WEEK as a game! A five star was never in doubt

Advice from former retro video game dev on online websites
Here’s some advice I been successful in these types of games before like Minecraft to scratch but here’s some advice that will help you Number one you should update the game more often like monthly so you can assure you can always address issues quicker and you should update a league when the season end like update the Japan league when the teams get relegated or promoted and two you should add a name editor and you should had eufa but you can rename it to something like Europe championship or something. Finally add Central American leagues adding Latin American leagues will help cause Hispanics are one of the largest ethnic groups and the largest in both north and South America so adding more leagues can appeal to those countries also you should add more Arab and Asian teams to appease those ethnic groups too don’t forgot bout Africa also add Ukraine for obvious reasons cause we stand with Ukraine from a former retro game dev

Great game, BUT....
Let me preface this by saying I’ve been a big fan of everything New Star has ever put out. All of their games are outstanding, and if you haven’t played other games, you should. Retro Goal is no different, taking the concept and design from Retro Bowl to the other kind of football. In most areas, the game is a total success. That being said.... Man, the booking system in this game is horrendous. It seems like every other game I am down to 10 men, through no fault of my own. If there’s a trait that all of my players have where they are red card magnets, I’m not aware of it. It’s beyond frustrating to lose my best players game after game. One thing I do appreciate about the booking system - I can commit fouls on my own and get booked for them! It’s nice to have consequences for my ill-advised tackles. That’s not what I’m talking about here though - I often find myself getting yellow card after yellow card during the AI simulation period of matches. I’ll often end up with 4 or more yellow cards from the AI, plus a player sent off (and thus banned for the next match. This is even more of a problem when you are playing the half season length). It feels unrealistic, and thank god there’s no yellow card accumulation ban in the game, or I’d have no players left. Apart from the booking system, great game. I look forward to many more hours spent with this app, as well as the continued updates that New Star is sure to provide!

Fun but why can’t you play a however long you want
I just started playing and the game is really fun and enjoyable when you get the controls down but why do you have to spend money to keep playing your save I wouldn’t have an issue with this game if you didn’t have to spend money to keep playing I can understand if it’s players and in game currency but you want the people to keep coming back and playing so why restrict that it makes this game not free to play it’s like a free demo and then you have to spend a dollar to keep going if that’s the case then why not just price the game as a dollar in the app store instead of saying it’s free then forcing them to spend a dollar for the rest of your ability to play what I enjoyed about retro bowl is that you could build a god squad without having to spend money but now your forced to spend money just to play the game and that confuses me great game though just make it free

Solid, New Star keeps up their reputation, some small recommendations though :)
Overall really nice game. Can’t comment on a whole lot because I’m not too deep into it. One thing I can mention is that the UI is fantastic, maybe even better than Retro Bowl’s UI. I do have a few small recommendations though, a few changes that hopefully wouldn’t be too difficult to implement. The first is custom naming. A feature Retro Bowl already has, you could make it only available to full version buyers. But it would be nice to customize the names of your players The other is custom appearances. This would include access to the full range of preset faces, and the ability to select one for each player. Also, maybe adding in an option for custom shoes (nothing too complicated, just a single color), might make players more recognizable on the pitch :) Overall, still a great game, those small changes would make it even better!

Good gameplay, but not worth the monetization
I was excited to try out this game as i love retro bowl. It is truly one of the best sports games on mobile. However, when I downloaded the app i was very disappointed to see the attempt to monetize the app. Although the fee isn’t large it is still an obvious cash grab. Retro bowl is perfect with its Premium that you can pay for and it gives Free To Play players an option to enjoy the game without spending pocket money. I gave the review four stars because although the game was an obvious attempt to get cash to the devs, i truly enjoyed the game with the 10 free games i got to play. The gameplay was immersive and i enjoyed the game a lot! Don’t make the mistake of throwing away an opportunity for a great game with a big audience by monetizing the game with a paywall. The game has so much opportunity so it is truly a mistake to make players pay for the whole game.

Uhhh… New star? You are Insane!!!
This game is great. Im just gonna say that right now. It is probably one of the most fun games i have ever played. First of all, it’s retro soccer so it already has 3 stars. Then it just gets better. The gameplay just gets better and better as they update the game. You can’t really get bored playing it and it’s fully ad free. (No, the other new star games ad’s don’t count because you can x out immediately.) With the new control scheme of expert it just seems like you have full control and it’s great. The tutorial is quick but good and you can play this game anywhere. Online or offline. I do have 1 complaint tho. Some days the game is laggy for no reason and it just slows the pace of it down too much but this is pretty rare. Oh and if you want to contact them you tend to get an answer within 2 days which is amazing. Okay Byeeee!!!

Solid gameplay, well thought out execution
As someone who lived RetroBowl for a while, the dive into RetroGoal was intuitive and filled with curiosity. I’m not a soccer fan by any means, so the mechanics and logistics allowed me to learn the ins and outs of successful strategies on my own at the introductory difficulty level. While there have been more visible purchase elements than RetroBowl, I haven’t felt like the game would necessitate buying players or additional BUX to have a fulfilling experience. It is a slow process to 100% complete the game, but I find that it’s not the route I want to go. I’m thrilled to pick up a match every now and then, and sometimes more than I should. I’ve learned quite a bit about the international soccer scene and I attribute it to the labor of love the developers have put in. RetroGoal is worth whatever you put in, whether you’re a novice or a completionist.

Money and Team Training
Money is earned very slowly, you need to go through a lot of seasons in order to buy normal players, but you are struggling very hard due to the fact that you need to constantly increase morale and lvl up, update the contract and heal. If you assemble a full team, then there is not enough money at all for them to live up to half of the season at least. some of the moments and just score 3 goals and knock the ball out of the field to finish the match already. The money that was earned in the international competition cannot be taken away either, so why did we earn it then? I thought it could be different. The game is normal, but the minus is very strong in coins, so if you do not plan to invest a lot of personal money in the game or you are not one of those who like to collect coins for a long time, the game is not for you. Once this is fixed it will be much better for everyone. And the interest will remain the same

Could be good
This game has potential, but it’s a far cry from its predecessor, Retro Bowl. The controls are wonky. Be prepared for your player to stop running as you furiously swipe across the screen trying to get them upfield. Opponent’s defenders are routinely beating your player with max speed to the ball. Slide tackling is a mess that usually ends a dogpile until one of your players falls and can’t get up and the computer walks the ball across the half line. Don’t try a through ball through the air to your forwards, it’ll either go to far and the keeper will scoop it up, or the defender will turn in to Usain Bolt and get there just in time to head the ball to safety. If the opponent scores first, the best hope you have for that match is a tie. In those games, if you score, the other team will always have an answer. If you score first, you’ll likely run away with the game, unless you’re playing one of the top tier teams in the league, in which case get prepared for come from behind goals from your opponent ad nauseam.

Good game, but too many yellow cards
I played Retro Bowl before this and I will say that I prefer the graphics of this game over that of Retro Bowl. I also find the music to be an improvement. I also appreciate that despite having premium players, it is still possible to create an elite football club. However, there are a few improvements I would like to suggest: -I find that I am getting lots of yellow cards despite my players having good morale. I find my team getting 2-3 yellow cards in many games. This seems to occur most frequently when the other team has the ball. Please lower the frequency of yellow cards when the other team has the ball. -One of my players got a 1 match ban for receiving 10 yellow cards in a season. After 1 game I put him back in. He played 1 match before being given another 1 match ban for the same reason. I do not think that this is an intentional mechanic, as banning players every other match would seem a bit absurd. I have found the only way to get past this is by having the player get another yellow card so that they have 11 yellow cards in a season. Please fix this so that players receiving 10 yellow cards in a season will only be given 1 ban for receiving 10 yellow cards. Despite these concerns, the game is still fun to play. I look forward to what future updates will bring.

IDK just some ideas
1. I feel that a team such as Phoenix constantly rank at the bottom of the chart I feel they should be able to “rebuild” faster per say and in 2-3 years be a top team and if not top then a mid pack team. 2. I’ve rebuilt the Phoenix team for they are my favorite team and won countless titles I’m talking 5 star offense 5 star midfield and 5 star defense but the moment I left that team they collapsed I get that I’m the coach and losing a great coach can cost a team but they shouldn’t crumble to the bottom of chart. 3. Players after retirement should be aloud to be one of the hirable coaches that you have the opportunity to hire. I’ve had some star players that i feel had a legacy cemented for the team and I would love to see them comeback as an assistant coach. 4. Just like retro bowl I feel there should be a hall of fame for I know at least in the United States there is a soccer hall of fame. 5. I wish you could see the statistics of your players such as the amount of goals made in a career amount of assists and amount of passes for the goalie the stats would be blocks/saves and passes but I also would find it quite the laugh if own goals was a statistic the game had. I have more but these are my top five I’ll probably comment my other ideas but for now this is good.

Good game. Just needs a couple changes
I am really enjoying the game, but I do have some issues. To start, when you change a club the club already starts at almost no stars even though they might have finished in a really good spot for example I played in the premier league and I switched to a team that finished in third place and when the season started the team was 1 star in attack, midfield, and defense. They had at least 4 stars in everything when I played them. But when I changed to them, they have no players and not a very good team. A good idea for a fix is when you click on the team it shows you the stats and asks you if you want to join instead of just asking if you want to join and no stats. I love the game! It’s really good but it has some issues that make me play less than I would like. Thank you for reading.

Could have been a lot better
The developers of Retro Bowl are also behind this one, and they’re showing the same laziness that holds Retro Bowl back. You don’t get to control what happens in your defense half, which is unforgivable because it should be a lot easier to implement that than it is in Retro Bowl. The fact that New Star Games isn’t showing the hands-on commitment required to make this what it could be ruins the on-field experience and will make serious fans of real football turn to FIFA. The fact that the Global Championship is watered down and doesn’t include regional qualifying is a an automatic one-Star penalty, too. It’s too bad because the GM-light elements give you enough to consider as a manager without overwhelming you and there are lots of leagues to play in. But until the developers decide to get off their fat behinds and make defense something other than an exercise in helpless reliance on RNG, these games will be average at best.

They’ve done it again
I have to admit that it would be incredibly hard to follow up a game as polished and as fun Retro Football, but I can’t say that this game falls short in it’s predecessor. As someone who barely follows soccer, and usually has little interest in the sport, this game is INCREDIBLY fun. They’ve done quite well incorporating so many leagues and all of these countries, and it seems like the game will go deeper than what I currently understand i.e. family/favorite team. Every time a game like this I HAVE to buy the unlimited version, but I have to admit the game is more micro transaction prone than retro football, but honestly it doesn’t take too long to grind for a player of that caliber without paying for them with real money. Besides that I cannot complain about the game, and cannot wait until they release a retro basketball and baseball!

Good not great
This game has a lot of potential. It is a fun game to play, the controls are good and the gameplay just feels great. My only problems are the way the transfers and other clubs are made. It is tougher to get good players in this game which I think is a good idea, but it is almost impossible to do anything without an elite player. I had to buy a good player in order to have a chance to ascend to first division, other wise it would not have been possible. Once I ascended I had a job offer from Barcelona which I wanted to take, but the game makes you start the team from zero which makes no sense at all. Why would I want to go to a big club and have to start from scratch. Retro bowl allowed you to move to a different team and keep the players that were already included. Overall good game, just lacking some of the great qualities that retro bowl had.

Great game! A few things though
The full game was only one dollar, so I’m not gonna cry about it, though I like how in Retro Bowl it was totally optional to pay any real money. The gameplay is super fun, though there are a few things that are funky. The header mechanic can sometimes trip you up if you try to drop a lifted pass right in front of a player. If you swipe to set your players direction as the ball comes down, even if you haven’t highlighted that player in the yellow circle to select a headed pass, he will head it away, rather than controlling it and moving in the direction you wanted. It can be very frustrating. It would also be nice to see a change with the crowd noise to make it a little more fun to score. The crowd roars for about 2 seconds before quieting again - I wanna hear the crowd go crazy for muuuuuuch longer than that if I’m watching the player celebration.

Controls don’t work as well as bowl
Could be another banger like retro bowl (likely my fav mobile game ever) but the similar controls scheme to bowl just doesn’t work nearly as well in this one. It ends up getting very frustrating. I think an actual on screen button control scheme would benefit this game greatly. While still keeping some of the touch parts such as shooting and even passing, it’s mostly movement that’s super frustrating and could benefit greatly from a d pad and maybe a sprint button. Oh also the money system seems to lean much more towards having to spend actual money vs retro bowl where you don’t really need to at all, it seems like it’s much harder to get coins in goal and/or everything seems to cost much more, it seems like it’ll take a ton of work and/or actual money to get good players and that’s a put off as well.

Fun up to a point
Roster/team building part of the game is great. Really enjoy that it can take quite a while to build a juggernaut as opposed to Retro Bowl where you can do it in two off-seasons. Gameplay experience is… just ok. Hard mode is fairly challenging at first because your players are slow, so you have to make a lot of passes. But you have some margin for error. Once that becomes too easy, though, all you’re left with is extreme difficulty which from my experience so far requires incredibly precise passing and almost immediate reactions. I probably wouldn’t bother if your roster isn't full of 4 to 5* (or super fast if worse than that) players. This is the same issue Retro Bowl had, although I find extreme much easier in that game. Devs need to find a happy medium in terms of difficulty, which could honestly be achieved by just making it harder to score when you shoot toward the top of the screen.

Possible New Features!
With a game this entertaining and simple the only thing holding you back is imagination! Here are ideas that may provide interesting and even beneficial features to the game. This will be edited as others send me new ideas and new concepts. (Stars indicate most wanted features) -Long sleeve jerseys -Gloves (possibly wrist tape even) *-Choose who takes the set pieces (FKs, PKs, Corners) *-New celebrations -More crowd audio (Boos when fouls are made, crowd jeering as you get closer to goal) -Crowd can be animate and just bounce up and down along the stands -Goalkeepers should not just stand still during penalties, they should have an animation to try and confuse you -Potentially different penalty POV like in FIFA -Trophy raising cutscene with your team after winning a title or other competitions *-Choosing a team captain -During opposing teams possession there will be cutscenes or short animations of how they scored instead of a brief summary (this cutscene can skipped) -Opposing AI teams will have their own star players -Individual player awards (most goals scored in a season, most assists made, most saves, player of the season) ^ (These players can also be in competition with other AI players from other teams with generated stats THAT AREN’T OUTLANDISH)

Very good but does need a few adjustments
This game is very entertaining to play, though it is a little broken at times (like fast players being able to run through the whole opposition). I think a few adjustments are necessary outside the actual gameplay 1. Adding more accurate competitions Some stuff like a playoff for the last champions league place, or no Europa league equivalent could be added to improve the game. 2. More interaction with the owner. The owner should be the sole decision maker for how much money you have. There should be certain owner traits like rich (more money available), stingy (less money available), or maybe a local v foreign split which could affect the fan rating. Also at the new season, there should be a new refreshed budget, instead of simply a carryover from the last year. 3. The transfer system needs a few adjustments I like the fact that it’s harder to run a profit in this game compared to retro bowl, especially because of how hard it is in real life to run a lower division side, meaning less money to spend on players. For the players in the transfer market, there should be a club that they are from, like when a specific club tries to buy one of your players. Also a transfer window is necessary and contract and transfer negotiations should exist.

Needs just a few tweaks!
I really enjoy both this game and retro bowl. However, there are a couple of aspects of this game that I wish were more similar to retro bowl. Some minor improvements that I think would benefit the game would be: 1. Allow for creation of a team and place it in a respective league. 2. Allow for you to see which team you selected at the get-go (I selected a team at random and now I can’t complete certain achievements because I don’t know my “favorite team”… 3. Allow for you to view the standings of other leagues and for you to qualify for tournaments your new team qualified for last year should you join them next season- this way you’ll know if you are joining a team eligible for champions league etc. 4. Being back “dynamic” difficulty setting.

The game works 10% of the time
Headers only work if your on the other side of the field for some reason. Try to get a header? Team runs away from the ball, try to pass to team. They run away too, try to score a goal? Nope goalie saves it by someone grabbing the ball while standing up from 2 meters away. All of your starting team members should be in Little League because they run at the speed as a grandma, the only good people you have to buy for like 2,000 dollars. The enemy team somehow never gets yellow cards or red cards (even though they should). For some reason playing for the USA makes it impossible to lose but playing for Germany makes it so that all your players have brain damage. The AI acts like I programmed it from scratch. I win every game for a while only one (bad) team wants to hire me. Lose a bunch everyone wants to hire me. If I had to choose one game that fits “if everything is broken nothing is broken” I'd choose this one. Also every like 3 games I get an advertisement to get the better version.

Fun, but not as good as Retro Bowl yet
I enjoy the gameplay, and I love the amount of leagues and team they have, but the difficulty balancing and money system is not good. (At least in England) Normal mode is just too easy and hard mode is way to hard, since you don’t get nearly enough money to keep or buy any players and coaches, or upgrade facilities. It seems like they are trying to force you into buying more in game money, similar to how they force you to pay a dollar to play more than 10 games. Although to be fair, I did not have this problem with the USA leagues so it might be a balancing issue with some of the leagues. They have always been so wonderful at adding great updates in Retro Bowl, so I don’t doubt they will do the same with this game. It is a good game considering it just came out, so I will still be playing this and I will be looking forward for future updates!

Amazing but, a few things
This game is amazing and I find that the purchase I made was worth it. Of course, there is some flaws. One is that I wished the economics of the game would be different. I don’t like how when, when you switch to a new club, for example Arsenal, they aren’t as good as they were before you signed and everything. Overall this game is great, and I do know that this game just released but I do hope that over future updates, that we get more leagues and if not, have countries represented that don’t have leagues. I do notice that there are teams for example, Cruz Azul, that exist in the game but aren’t playable because the league isn’t in the game. I really like this game and I hope that in the future, it gets better and better.

Great potential, but bookings and injuries need to be adjusted
This is a fun retro game with tremendous potential. The game play is great for a phone - fun but not to crazy to make it frustrating. In addition, the club management functions are outstanding. Buying/selling players and managing the club throughout the season are exciting and well done. The biggest problem with this game is the ridiculous booking and injury rate. Im averaging a red card per game and an injury every few games. None of my players have poor traits; the AI generates the fouls. It negatively affects the entire game; I'm constantly playing with 9-10 men and my best players are out for 2-3 game stretches. Add on an injury every few games and its hard to get ahead without spending tons of money to buy a bunch of subs. I don't mind spending money on good games, but I don't want to feel like its wasted. I would rate this game 5-stars if the developers fixed the booking and injury rate.

Great gameplay
Hi, I love the gameplay in this. It’s one of the most fun sports games to play in my opinion. Some suggestions I have for improvement is to have a stats page where you can see player stats side by side instead of one at a time. Also, it would be simpler to have the contract length of a player written out as time remaining on contract and not by year and month. I also wish that the auto-pick feature weighted condition level higher when picking the starters, but it’s still a good feature in general. Also, a budget screen would be helpful for season-long planning because it can be easy to get caught out and forget that a players contract is coming to an end after spending money on the stadium or training.

Great time killer
First off, this developer has proven very consistent once again. Like retro bowl before it, this game is a great way to kill some time like if you’re at school or some other place. Gameplay is fluid and complex yet also simple at the same time. Despite being a completely different sport, this game is similar to retro bowl as far as team management goes and is even improved in several areas. Graphics are improved and there are so many team options to explore and so many things to win. My only criticism is the demo system for the base game where you can only play ten games before you have to pay, but if you have a dollar it a a worthwhile purchase to play the game forever afterwards.

Doesn’t live up to its potential
I love retro bowl and I love to play soccer with friends, so I downloaded retro goal and tried it out and immediately though on opening “Wow this is incredibly different” which is good that it differentiates itself from retro bowl, then I started the tutorial, the money system: not very good, it feels like things are more overpriced, but I did like the fact that it actually took time to build up your stadium and boost player morale, now here’s the thing that really burns me, ITS NOT FREE TO PLAY!!!! You have to pay to even play after 10 games?? It’s also incredibly pay to win, controls are harder and players stop moving after they receive a pass, as well as corner kicks being impossible. To summarize, retro bowl is better for free to play, this is more the pro all done with retro bowl ready for something else game, looks good on paper just done badly.

Bux System is Bad- Revised After 1 Month
Revised- After playing for about a month, growing a team is achievable in retro goal and the money does start to stack after awhile. My suggestion is not to change teams often, as this causes you to start over and have to spend a lot each time. The game itself is amazing, just like its predecessor. My critiques of it after playing awhile are: 1. No players should cost real money 2. Let us play full court, or stop the AI from just drop kicking the ball every time they get it 3 See below for original review- I come from retro bowl, which is probably my favorite phone game of all time. It’s balanced and growing a team is achievable. Salary cap is a great concept in that game! However, this game is a bit different. The mechanics are the same which I love, but the “Bux” system absolutely ruins the chance at growing a team. You only get like 1500 bucks per season, and that’s not even enough for 2 star players. This seriously needs to be fixed. Either an increase in Bux per game or going to a salary cap option is needed in order to actually grow a team like you can in retro bowl.

BEST MOBILE SOCCER GAME
This game has every team imaginable, from the premier league, to MLS, to even national teams. I play this game every day and never get bored. The controls are very fresh and there’s even better “expert” controls that help you make more accurate shots and passes. I only have one suggestion. This year they changed the kits for every team but only for new careers . I have an old one though and I would like to see the new kits for Chelsea and this is very disappointing. As a hardcore fan I feel after every season ( in game )you should have an update/ refresh where even old accounts get their new kits. I have grown very fond of my players and hope you consider this feedback Thanks - Brent

Very good gameplay, too dependent on in app purchases
I love retro bowl and so was excited for this. The design of the game and the gameplay are great, feel even better than retro bowl. But the ‘bux’ system is clearly set up so you can’t keep players on your team unless you are constantly feeding money into little purchases. At a lower level, I only have 8 players that cost and none of them are particularly great (max out at 4 stars and most of them are only around 2.5) and I’ve gone undefeated for several seasons and I still can’t keep enough ‘bux’ to afford to even just keep them all. Developers deserve to make money, no problem, I just wish more would welcome a bigger initial cost rather than attempting to make us buy over and over and over.

Flawed But Still Fun
Having a ton of fun with this game, but there are a few things that keep me from giving it 5 stars. My biggest gripe is the way the game handles you switching teams. As it stands currently there’s absolutely no reason to take another job with a different team. Whether you accept a job with a big name premier league side or a 2nd division French club you get stuck with a crappy squad and no good facilities like you’re back at square one. I made the switch on my first team and I’m really regretting it now. My other big complaint is the way the game handles defense or lack there of. With no way to control your defenders you just have to pray the computer is nice to you. If they can update those 2 I’d happily give this 5 stars.

Good game that needs minor features
Let the chance loss be more lenient instead of losing your chance because the npc headed the ball into your half with no opponents near it, especially if the defense part of the game is just text. Add little animation and maybe some slow mo to let the replays look a little more cinematic. Add a either a skill wheel or hand gestures for individual skills the you can unlock the higher level your player is. also maybe let us customize how translucent the shot landing mark is because it’s kinda hard to see it in the net. Finally, maybe let the user be able to make wagers with other teams like how other teams can wager them.

Great, but…
This game is really good in my opinion but there’s a few things that I don’t like about it. 1. If you want to start in the premier league only one team would want to accept you and sometimes no team wants you in the Prem 2. I left my ok team to go to my favorite team which is pretty good in real life but when I went there everything was just back to square one. 3. Why does it cost so much to re-sign a player when their contract expires? I had a 2 star youth academy player that cost 800 bux to re-sign. It didn’t make sense and I hope this is improved in the future. Apart from that, I love the game and I probably won’t stop playing it anytime soon.
