We enjoyed the original versions of Rolandos nearly a decade ago and were sad when it was dropped from the App Store. If you missed it the first time around, please don’t do that again. This is more than a re-release. With new graphics, a smoother and faster feel, updated sound effects, and the superb soundtrack from Mr. Scruff, this version is a real gem. If this is your first time getting acquainted with the Rolandos and enjoying their world is simple but they can get into sticky situations and will need your help. The challenging puzzles get addictive as you save your Rolly-Polly friends from the “baddies”. Capture the diamonds and solve the puzzles before the timer expires to win gold and max out your score. Our entire family loves this game. We hope the Rolandos are back forever. Don’t miss this must have game.
I played the original version of Rolando and Rolando 2 a few years ago and I had the urge to play it again. But a while ago I checked for them and was pretty bummed when they were gone from the App Store. Now though, it's here to stay! It's great that you guys brought this game back, since it was one of my favorites. And normally I don't pay for games, but this was only a dollar and I missed it. By the way, I'm not done with the game yet, so I was wondering if the bonus levels are still here? And will you guys ever plan on rereleasing the second game as well? I think I liked that one better than the first (that doesn't mean I don't like the first one though).
By far the makings of a great game. But Tilt controls kill the experience for me. When I realized you were forcing Tilt, the first place I headed was the settings menu. And to my surprise no control options other than, you got it, Tilt sensitivity. I saw in another review you mentioned possible MFI controller support and that would be a great option. But why no onscreen virtual controls? Doesn’t seem reasonable to force Tilt unless you are willing to whip out a MFI controller. There are many scenarios where neither Tilt nor MFI controller support are useful or practical options. And imo a creative virtual control solution would enhance gameplay when done right. Tilt controls here seem like an easy way out imo. You have a great game here, now make it even better with more control options and secure the coveted Game of the Year!!
I first downloaded this game in 2010 when I owned the original iPad. It was a great game, I always remembered it. When I found out that they brought a remastered version of the game to 64-bit devices, I couldn’t wait to buy it!! I’m playing a game I originally played on the original ipad, but I’m playing it on a bloody iPhone 13! How awesome is that! Amazing game, especially tilting. New games are so boring and make no use of the iPhones features, while this game was built in the prime of iOS when everyone was experimenting with the iOS SDK. TLDR great game!!
I had missed this game so much! It was my absolute favorite back when it came out and I was so bummed that it was discontinued for a while. This remake is so great! Same characters with official names, slightly different dialogue, new artwork, and same awesome music by Mr. Scruff! I’d like to see if there’s an option to turn off the constant 3D tilting though, it’s a good upgrade, but an option to turn it off would be awesome! Can’t wait for a remake of the sequel and see more later on! Thanks HandCircus!
This was the first truly innovative and amazing new iPhone game. It proved to me that a platform adventure could work on the iPhone by using mechanisms and design that might not work at all on other platforms. I loved Rolando and Rolando 2. We were promised Rolando 3 to complete the story, but the company changed its business model before it could be developed, and it never happened. Hopefully this return signals the designers revisiting the Rolando world further.
To this day, the Rolando series has been one of my favorite games to play on the iPhone. So, I was thrilled when I learned it would be returning to the App Store with stunning new graphics. I hope more of the older iOS games make a return because this title was definitely a front-runner for gaming in its time. It’s been so long since I last played Rolando, so it feels like a brand new experience!
This has the bones of a good game, but there’s a reason tilt controls have been ditched by most devs making platformers. They’re imprecise by default. And I have muscle tremors. So relying on them for this kind of gameplay is just maddening. It’s impossible to enjoy because these little roller dudes are so difficult to control. If you’re really going through all the effort of remastering a beloved game, you should rethink more than aesthetics. I can’t play this game now because nobody thought that maybe they should consider accessibility and include more control schemes. Whatever. I’m glad others are enjoying it.
I got Rolando back when it was one of the first games on the App Store and loved it. It had the best soundtrack on the store back then, too. I was disappointed to see that development had halted and I played the older versions while they were still available. I am so glad to be able to re-play my favorites with a modern look and feel. Great job, guys!
I remember playing this game shortly after it first came out originally on the App Store. It wasn’t long before I fell in love with it, and was devastated when it vanished. I’m so glad that it’s returned!! From the characters to the fun mechanics, as several other reviews have said, there just aren’t many fun games like this out there. If you’ve never heard of this game, give it a chance!!
I remember having this game on my iPod touch! It was one of the games I was always glued to and loves playing. The nostalgia is unreal with this right! I’ve been wondering what happened to this game for awhile now, I started looking up everything recently, too. So I can’t believe this was just released! Can’t wait to finish the game once again :)
Really loved coming back to this game after playing it as a kid. However, I was wondering if additional levels will ever be released? I saw another review on here from four years ago where there was a reply that additional levels would be added to the daily eventually. Well… it’s been four years! Will they ever be released? I miss bonus levels and the Rolando 2 levels :(
I grew up with this game, and have been nostalgic for it for years now, checking the app store every so often to see if it's returned. I was doing such tonight when I found that it has! And it's wonderful quality too. The art and design is cool, and the gameplay mechanics and concept are fun. Worth $3 for sure!
I just want to say how thrilled I am that this game is back on the App Store, and how pretty it is. I have one small problem though...on the original game, weren’t there about 20 extra bonus levels? I think they were accessible through a coin/button in the center of the map/book. Please bring these back, the game needs more content.
If you’re like me and think about the old days of playing Rolando on your iPhone 3GS then think no longer! Rolando has been remade with what can only be described as some of the best graphics in a game. This truly is the royal version and I am so happy I can add Rolando to back into my games folder!
Love the Remake of the OG Rolando but why is Rolando 2 missing?
This is a great remake of Rolando, and the updated graphics and iPad support are very much appreciated, checking the handcircus dev page however Rolando 2 is missing and that seems a shame, both games are great and it would be great to have a recompiled version of Rolando 2, just as it was, for modern iPad/iOS devices.
I loved the Rolando series when the iPhone was in its infancy. I was sad to see it fall away when iOS got updated. I was especially sad when the sequel got squashed with the breakup of Hand Circus. At least I can now play the classic games again. One more request - finish the sequel please!
I played many mobile games as a kid that are no longer accessible as of 2017, Rolando was among one of my favorites, I always loved the simple gameplay and interactive mechanics, I am so glad they brought this game back

A very long time ago, this was the very first game I had on my iPod touch. Years went by and I searched for it with no avail. THANK you for bringing back this wonderfully brilliant game. It deserves more attention than it receives. Please never remove it from the store!!
I loved playing this game as a teenager on the original iPhone. This remastered version is equally fun and the puzzles are fun and creative. The improvement to the graphics are icing on the cake. Highly recommend this game if you like playing games on iPhone!
I gave 4 stars bc I’d rather have directional buttons....the movement throws me off & I’m having a hard time being able to enjoy this game...I love the graphics & ideas of the levels...I just wish you could put directional buttons on this & id give it 5 stars..sooo could you....please
One week later and already getting QOL updates. No in app purchases, and a great campaign with lots of replay ability. Keep up the work handcircus! I’d buy rolando 2 (or 3) in a heartbeat.
Very few mobile games catch my attention like this one did. I usually don’t play many games on a phone, unless they are basic one finger type of games. This one is very fun and polished, I downloaded it as a free app of the day and I definitely would have payed for it. Some reviewers and complaining about the “tilt controls “.........I generally don’t like games that use tilt controls but this game seems to utilize it well.
Yo, I remember when I had this game on my 3GS. And Rolando 2. This one is exactly like the original. Refreshed and polished to take advantage of the new hardware. Big shout out to the developers. Clever thinking. Polished product. I bought this instantly.
What can I say? I have memories of 2008, being a sophomore in college and playing this game late into the night when I should have been studying. And now I can relive those memories. Perfect!
The App Store is over saturated with pretty, but ultimately repetitive and boring games. This one is pretty, but very well polished & lots of fun to play. Drop that $3 and get this game!
I played Orlando when it was first released in 2009. This remastered version recalled me so much sweet memories, feels like looking at an album of old photos. Please update for the Orlando 2: Quest for the Golden Orchid.
I loved playing the original and this remaster is really well done. My only hope is that they will give the same treatment to rolando 2 the golden orchid

I agree with others, great game potential but tilt controls ruin the experience for me. Add option for onscreen left/right arrow control and it would be a fun game. Jump instead of swipe would be a bonus.
What a delight this game is back. A fun but calming adventure game where you tilt the screen to roll little cute Rolandos through different landscapes.
