Huge Fan
I love the total war games on PC, so I thought I’d try this out. I love it. It’s amazing. There are a lot of factions you can play as, you can build forts and watchtowers to see over the land and stage raids and sieges. This game overall is amazing. There are a few things I’d like the developers to add, which include fixing units in towns and cities, or when they are on walls, it can be a little glitchy sometimes, but otherwise huge wall settlements are my favorite sieges to do, also sea battles and naval landings would be awesome to have in the game so you can do something like a Carthage beach landing and have an attack from land and sea, artillery ships attacking the walls so the naval troops can get through. I love being able to play one of my favorite PC games on my phone, and the great thing is, doesn’t need WiFi. I can play it up in the woods. It also has easy to reach cheat codes. Press the top corners of the screen and hold it and you get the Rome Shell or something like that. Players can use that to do the campaign quickly and see how strong you can get. I’ve only used the showmethemoney cheat and the process_cq all and process_rq all which, in order, is gives you I think a million denarii, instantly complete construction queue and last but not least finish the recruiting queue. 10/10 recommend to players who like rts style games.

please read I have a few suggestions
I just can’t get off of this game. I think it is the bomb. I love this game and it’s great strategy and factions. I wish you could tell your archers to put a stake in the ground in front of themselves. I wish the cavalry could dismount. I wish I could get a diplomat to say anything. I wish you could play the rebel faction and Rome . I wish Rome would fight and conquer territory.I wish you could trade troops with other countries. I wish that after a while a fort became a town. I wish you could play with other people, it would make your game a lot better. Over all I love this game and would recommend it to anyone who wants it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!⚔️😃SEE YOU ON THE BATTLEFIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also wish you could play a sea battle ; you could completely destroy a town ; there would be Vikings who would come take a town , pillage, and leave ; and if you went through a mountain some would die from the cold, and falling ; I wish you could have your own person killed by a assassin; and a storm would sink ships; and you could attack at night;1 forced march and last the red line would vanish after all units are in rout .

2 questions/ complaint now
A.) I know I’ve asked before but do you have a a estimate for when we could expect mod support. And B.) so you have any plans bringing the total war warhammer 1 or 2, I would honestly buy it as quickly as possible and I’d be sucked into that 10 times more than total warm Rome EDIT: also could we/the players get a answer about the total war medieval games, or shogun, or any of the other total war games EDIT: hi, so I I’m quite annoyed right now, out of all my games I play this the most still and I am about to transfer because of the absolute mound of crashes, EVERY battle I do, campaign or custom, crashes, I liked a lot of big battles, I finally did a 1v1 on larger unit scale(eagle legionary cohort vs urban cohort) and it crashed, I know sometimes if you do something like that in some games it’ll crash so I changed it up thinking it’ll help, 11 more crashes.... finally I let it rest, tweaked with setting, and bam, got a themed custom battle ready, hit deploy troops and it crashed... before it would at least start battle, not just crash immediately, I love the game to bits don’t get me wrong, hours upon hours of gameplay, and I even sucked my dad into it some(he doesn’t play games at all) and then this happens, in a small battle with at most 106 entities and it crashes, thank you for reading this and if any player has a problem like this I’m sorry but it is still a good game

Almost perfect
This game is honestly the best not in graphic compared to other but gameplay wise. The one thing is that how come there 50 region and u can only play as 13-15 region that not even half Macedonia I defeated and yet still couldn’t play as them Also the Greek kinda seem Under powered because in my understand the Greek were very intelligent but they can understand that they can’t just Pikeman all of the time yes they have archers/skirmishes and cavalry but that doesn’t really make up for there one weakness I know this game is very old now but I wish you could FRIKEN FIX THE SIEGE TOWERS TOO and also add new unit like historical units. Side note: Why tf did u add ship engagement if u can’t actually see them what’s the point u can’t retreat if you get attack so what the fricken point ik this is a little thing but it bugs me for some reason Question:Will You add Rome 2 because for me the selection in Rome 1 is not really great such as the Greeks with practically only pike man and is starting to get boring after a few month

Giving only two stars until there is another patch.
This game is truly amazing to play on mobile. Sometimes i enjoy it more then the pc version. The reason i am giving it 2 stars is because the DEVS. Its been over a year and still no patch or update to fix all the bugs? The troops are still have a hard time using the siege towers. The AI factions do pretty much the same thing every time you play it gets a bit old. Basically Rome and Egypt take over everything in their way. And even tho the selucids have an awesome roster they always seem to get steam rolled by everyone around them. Also im noticing new bugs now. Now when i am invading a city and i order my units to enter a gaurd tower so they can take it over they end up lining up infront of the door outside the tower and they keep taking arrows until the unit is wipes out. Its stupid. If you wont take the time to fix these bugs and at least care for the mobile gamers in your business then you guys deserve a one star. The only reason i give it two stars is because the game is really fun. But the fact you guys dont care AT ALL about this mobile total war you guys are going to lose many players and fans and im going to make sure the entire community understands this if it is not addressed.

New idea?
I absolutely love this game! As someone who can’t afford a pc I’ve always dreamed of playing a total war game and this was my wish come true this is a game I seriously love and really hope you continue to add more units factions and details to the game! I’ve always sort of hoped there would be some non human factions but I guess that’d be too much like warhammer (really hope that comes to phone too) but I was hoping maybe just maybe there could be a zombie faction or something similar in Rome total war? Like a dlc with a new playable faction and a whole story to go along with it where you either pick whichever faction and play the game normally while also accounting for the new rising zombie faction or play as the zombie faction I just think that would be amazing also I’d really appreciate it if alliances would be made more useful every time I make an ally they refuse to help me and inevitably stab me in the back anyways if this is read thank you for taking the time to read it can’t wait to see what you do with this game!

I love Total War but this is ridiculous...
I have always been a fan of the game series Total War!! I love the strategy aspect and actual time you have to give to win the the game! It's always exciting, fun, and easily the best game on the App Store!!! With all that said I find absolutely INFURIATING that 50% of the time I divulge into an in depth battle, I have fought through the lagging, the endeavors of a heroic victory, and I have won the battle. The moment you see your after battle kills screen and you're ready to move forward the game begins to load and BAM!!! THE GAME CRASHES!! The half an hour to an hour you just spent winning a battle that was highly out of favor is all lost....it takes everything that is so great about this game and ruins it. I am giving this game a 1 star because it has been months and instead of updating this problem they've released expansions that do the exact same thing....i hope to see this problem fixed immediately so I can give this game the 5 stars it deserves.

Battle controls need work :(
Edit: Thanks for responding, I appreciate the team’s dedication to customer support. I did some closer testing and found that the drawing instead of scrolling results from the touch controls simply being too imprecise. You can try scrolling quite a ways off from the actual unit and it will still register like you’re trying to draw a path. (I’ve noticed this imprecision contributes to difficulty placing units during deployment as well). If the battle touch controls could be tightened up just a bit, this game would be elevated to near perfection. The further I’ve gotten into the campaign, the more frustrated I’ve become with the battle controls. Panning across the field while units are selected is an absolute pain because the game will think you’re trying to draw a path. Drawing a path is a neat function in theory but only makes sense on a larger screen. It makes me wonder if the game was ever thoroughly play-tested on an iPhone. Please allow us to toggle the path drawing function - it would make battles infinitely better on small screen!

Can’t employ real strategy
Actually paid money for this game and based on the previous reviews at first I was excited. However after playing a few rounds I realized that you were kind of painted into a corner as to what you can do. I’ve built up huge armies and then I couldn’t do anything with them, despite plenty of people you could attack. Eventually you have to do what your commanders in Rome want you to do. You can’t attack them, you can only go after who they deem as enemies. Technically you could make alliances, but it doesn’t seem to do any good as they don’t fight on your behalf. Pros: Nice fighting sequence where you can deploy units on the battlefield. Cons: 1. The AI “allies“ will attack and conquer territory well before you ever get there. Hence to be able to attack anybody, you have to march clear across the map, and even by the time you get there, there is a little left to attack. 2. You can’t attack any Roman allies at all. Historically this isn’t accurate as Roman armies fought each other frequently and leaders were opportunistic. I would have opportunities all the time to attack other Romans but the game would never let me. It kept saying I needed “popular support“ however there is never any way to get this.

What I've done and what I've received
I literally Bought the iPad just to play this game (and just make it my game thing), I'm not really disappointed, if this is your first time playing a total war game, you will love this game, it is by far one of the best strategy/war games in the store, still, if you played the CPU version you will realize the differences, these differences are the change in scale of battles, to fit with the ipads mobility, you still get most of total wars immersion but with a small quality drop, but with right marketing I know total war is something that could take over a large part of the gaming community, I am very happy the creators are bringing these games to mobile devices , and hope the consoles are next, I really believe total war games could be a triple A thing, please keep expanding, one day Everyone could be talking about these games like they do skyrim and GTA, you better hurry before mount and blade is also a good game expanding its reaches

Very good game, has some quirks
This game is amazing. I was a little hesitant to buy it from its $10 cost and how many total war fake cop-outs are online, but this is actually legit. If you’re willing to pay, the $10 is completely worth it. However, there are some little quirks that I found. First off, this game drains your battery like a leech. If you don’t connect your phone to a power source, you won’t be playing this game for long, even if you started at 100% battery life. The second quirk I found is that this game is not big finger friendly. In the later stages of the campaign, when you need to micromanage massive armies, it can be really difficult, especially if you have big fingers since everything is so small and it’s easy to accidentally click on something you didn’t intend to click on. If you have big fingers, I recommend using a DS stylus or some other screen stylus if you have one. A third quirk that I found is that the sound quality of the game isn’t the best. When new background music starts, whether it is the battle theme or the peaceful overview theme, it doesn’t deactivate any soundtrack currently playing. After about 10-15 minutes of playing the game you get the accumulation of 5+ background songs playing over each other, and it sounds quite unnerving. Other than that, this game is really great and can give you months and maybe even years of entertainment.

Great, but I do wish controls were better
My biggest frustration with this game is not being able to easily shape units. It was much better in medieval 2. In that one if I tap and hold selected unit(s), I could shape them in formation and easily position them. There is a way to do it in this one by using two fingers, but it’s really tricky and finicky. It’s also better than medieval 2 in that the other factions aren’t magic and basically impossibly spawn enemy armies. For example I fought Milan and they had no castles but were still getting knights. Other factions would also have no money like me buys still come and smack me with fresh armies consistently and I couldn’t even pay to keep them replenished. Other than the controls issue, I’ve always loved this game since it’s original release. Such a variety of potential play styles. Horse archers are broken.

Needs AI vs. AI
I think it would be really great if there was a way in custom battles to not control any army and/or make a way to take control of all army’s. A lot of comments I read say the same thing. If this was added I would give a 5 star. I bought this game so that I could place as many units as I liked and then sit back and watch the carnage. But as it turns out I have to pain stakingly take a long time to set up a way to route my troops and then just watch the battle unfold. A lot of times the enemy sends most of it’s army at my men and it is really anoying because when you die the battle is over. That is another good idea. DONT END THE BATTLE WHEN ALL OF THE UNITS YOU CONTROL DIE. Like, who wins in the end? Apparently since your dead you will never know. Wow! I know it’s a lot but at the moment, (and I hate to say it because TW has been my idol) TABS is better than TW. That’s all there is to it. I mean you guys make a complicated battle scheme but in the end with out AI VS. AI, Your not a battle simulator. I’m not mad. I’m just slightly disappointed in the game. It never had what I’ve wanted most. AI vs AI. Thank you and hope you add it soon.

I love it but
Hi I really love your game at all but for the Greeks and Seleucids and a few other factions they all have pikes I know that’s what the Greek world had but they also had swordsman I know the Seleucids have a silver shield legionary but that takes three turns to make and that’s pretty crazy I was wondering if you could do an update were the Greeks and the Seleucid empire have a one tern swordsman because I know they both had infantryman with swords that would just make the Greek and Seleucids more fun to play with and could you please add multiplayer where multiple people can go into one game to do sieges and battles that would be really fun and instead of doing auto resolve with ships can you please add were you can control your ships and all and can you please think about adding a ROME: Total War 2 to the iPad that would be amazing anyways I hope you see this because it really needs to be updated into the game thank you!

Great port
Admittedly, I have never played Rome Total War on PC. I’ve been playing the IOS version for about a month now, and it’s been a mostly enjoyable experience. The game itself is undeniably a masterpiece of both real time and grand strategy. It runs phenomenally, although it will quickly drain your phone’s battery if not plugged in. I enjoy almost every aspect of Rome for IOS, except for a minor UI bug and the sometimes wonky battle controls. I notice that when I view my faction’s family tree, it is almost impossible to select the far left family member. The only way to select him is to repeatedly tap in his portrait’s general area until his profile is selected. I cannot think of any other bugs I have encountered so kudos! Great game. It would be better to play this on a PC, but this is a mobile port after all. And a well made one.

Controls and my personal review
Developers have answered my previous review and help me get some answers which I do appreciated. And they do care. If those who loved the pc version of Rome total war it’s pretty much the same in some expect. Yes the pc is a whole lot better but as a mobile total war game it has some potential just as the pc game in your pocket. Just getting used too especially controls because you don’t have a keyboard and mouse. This pocket version don’t require internet connections which is great. This game does eat some battery if your going to play for a bit. Other then that I believe it’s worth the $ for this pocket version of total war. At least I get to play again. Next would be like shogun total war. If it does come out yes I’ll buy it through the App Store just like this one. Btw give it a chance and play a bit you might like love it.

“We will find away or we will make one”(Hannibal)
It doesn’t get much better than Total war on a phone, Civ 6 is right up there tho but now we have CoH as well, it’s a good time to be a mobile gamer. I have been hesitating on buying this for months just because I own it on PC, so why should I, well I’m glad I did cause it actually runs smoother on my iPhone 8 than it does on my decent laptop, the touch controls are as fluid as any other well made strategy game on iOS. Instead of clicking and dragging mouse to select multiple troops, you draw with finger around the troops you want to select, makes it feel like you are drawing up sports plays but in actuality you are crushing your foes with just a finger mwahaha. If you, like me, are hesitating whether it be price or you already own, do your self a favor and have the Roman Empire in your back pocket at all times. GG

Old time player and fan...
I first began playing Medieval and Roman Empire versión years ago then only available on CD to play on my home computer and the game is still as great as when I first discovered it. I do wish the medieval version were available to download from the App Store so I could play it on my I-pad but having “ROME” to okay anywhere I go is a plus. What I love about the games ( besides the sound track of the original CD game) is the historical aspect and accuracy of the play. A player can apply different win strategies depending on which country he chooses to be as well as develop different strategies for winning using key military units. I first always played as one of the Roman family units but lately I go with one of the historic competing empires and have more fun “changing” history but conquering the Roman Empire. Great game... give us the Medieval versión to play on I-pads!

Worth the money!
I loved this total war on pc. I just purchased about a week ago and it’s been fantastic on iOS as well as far as the game itself, my only frustration which is likely just due to the platform, is the controls on the battle map are a little difficult without constant pausing because your units may completely shift their lines sideways or you may select too many units when in the middle of a skirmish trying to out maneuver your opponent. It just lacks the precision of the mouse which is unavoidable on a phone or tablet but if you micromanage your units and like to let the battle run real time you will have a harder time doing so. Fantastic game still and overall worth the money if you love total war and this comes from someone who never buys phone games.

Wait... how do you do other factions in the campaign again?
I don’t remember how I did it, but I remember playing with a lot of factions, I love the game, but how do you do it? Please tell me Edit: thank you for letting me know how to do it, developers! Also I love the fact that the game has aspects that are historically accurate to the Rome timelines, though this can be changed by the player for example, Egypt taking over the world. I love this game! Very well Made, good job. If you made more, like... some of the other total war games on pc, like total war arena (I played it at pax west!) or perhaps adding aspects to the game like full action ship battles like in the PC, that would be awesome! I know some people who made pirate: Caribbean hunt who could help with these aspects. The game is perfect. Keep updating!

Love this game but pls listen
Ok, first off, I love this game. I’ve gotten really into Roman history this year and this game was great for me. I love the immense battles and the campaign is super engaging. I usually hate campaign style games but this was like choosing my own path and I love it. I love being able to move my army’s around and explore the map. I love making deals or enacting revenge on my enemies. There are somethings however that I would like to be balanced. The rebellions happen so frequently and they somehow amass a giant army and I have to use my big army’s that were needed for campaigns elsewhere and put them to stop the rebellion. And the rebel pirates somehow have a godlike fleet that will just continuously attack my ships over and over again. Apart from that, I really love this game and rate it 5 stars

Get This Game
This game is amazing, the one big thing that I would change is: Currently alliances are kinda useless. Could you please make it so that if you are in an alliance with another faction that it means something. Because currently if I were to have an alliance with let’s say Gaul, then nothing would stop them from stabbing me in the back and invading! Another thing, your allies don’t do anything if you ask them too; like if I asked Egypt to attack the Seleucid empire, they would say no and betray me. All I ask is for alliances to mean something to the AI. If you could make an update, or something that would turn your AI allies into actual allies. Instead of backstabbing traitors. Thank you for reading, over all great game.

Glitch
Hey there’s this glitch it’s been around for almost a year now affecting all versions of the game on iOS and it makes it hard to play because it super sizes the units and makes like like 2-8x times the size of regular units so like a unit of 40 is now like 160 men and from what I have seen so far it causes the battles to lag more and causes units to break faster I mean I’m sure you can see how worth the mechanics of the game it really effects how it plays and makes it in my opinion unplayable but aside from the glitch and back when I could get normal campaigns and battles to load this game was amazing I love it so I still give it a 5 out of 5 stars just hoping they fix this or I find a way to idk

Total War just keeps improving
I have been a huge fan since the Total War line was first rolled out. Rome has always been one of my favorite games. I was hesitant to get it for the iPhone because I didn’t think they would be able to port it without giving the game a lobotomy. But I was pleasantly surprised at how true to the PC game the iPhone game is. It’s easy to see that the designers aren’t out to make a quick buck off the total war name. And now, for no additional fees, they’ve added all the playable factions that were not available before. That’s an incredible value and much appreciated. Good work and I hope to see the game continue to be supported and look forward to any additional content in the future.

Super fun but a few things
When I first got this game I was blown away by it it’s super fun and exiting but as I played it I realized a few flaws for one if you have a diplomat you can pretty much bribe anything on to your side which is a little unfair also it’s way to easy to bribe loyalty is such a minor factor in this game and also why can you bribe entire cities? I mean you don’t even have to have an army you can just throw gold around until everyone has joined you, also all the units behave so cowardly I mean only the general’s unit behaves like an actual military unit all the other units just run when they take a few casualties like the Barbarians in the day almost all of them would fight to the last man but in this game they act nothing like the real thing but overall a good game

Love the game but I have a frustrating bug that makes it harder to enjoy
I absolutely love the gameplay and how well it reflects the original game; however I have a big that I can’t fix where the music won’t stop after loading screens. For example, I start a campaign, and the main menu music is playing on the world map, and let’s say I attack a settlement right away, the music from the main menu, the campaign map, and the battle engagement music are all going off at the same time. It gets to a point where sound doesn’t work at all in the game. I have to turn the music off, or have multiple music pieces playing at once. I don’t know how it was caused, but I hope it will be fixed soon.

Really really really fun... But.
I’ve had a blast playing this game and sometimes staying up all night playing it. I remember playing this on pc a couple years back and now it’s mobile! Truly innovating and addicting! But on the other hand little things like an enemy general refusing to die when completely surrounded by your troops and sometimes killing a whole unit of yours before he dies. Chariots are a little overpowered as that they can outrun Calvary for some reason. Also reinforcements sometimes just freezes outside the map. Speaking about the map, when the game lags it’ll throw you to a random perspective on the map. Other than that I’m very thankful for this game cause it’s a complete blast to play!!!!

Update is greatly appreciated
First off I want to give a huge thanks to the devs at feral interactive for this amazing update. Giving us the rest of the factions makes this version of one of my favourite strategy games of all time a true remaster. There are still the issues of the Spanish having eastern voices but oh well. I’m updating this review after being notified of a response from the developers. I kind of forgot that I wrote this because I quit playing the game due to the various audio issues that plagued it. I decided to open the game again recently and noticed no issues this time. I have no idea how I fixed it, but I’m glad to be able to start a new campaign with the volume on.

I used to be a huge fan of these games on pc I bought total war Rome, Attila, shogun 1 and 2. I loved these games and still play them once and awhile. I wanted a game like those on mobile forever and I’ve tried looking for any ripoffs or anything like it. There was nothing so when I saw this was made I got very excited and instantly bought it. It is everything I wanted except for one thing. I’m not gonna go into super details but the only small problem is the battle controls are a little wonky and annoying sometimes. if you need more detail look st other reviews as that’s what a lot of them are about. but otherwise if you want to control an army in a mass battle or have played on pc and want to play it anywhere this is most definently the game for you

So close to the PC game, needs some improvement
Overall they did a fantastic job moving this to the IPad. Biggest problem is troop control and camera control, both of which are very unwieldy. Trying to get a better look at the battle close up and back out to the larger view in a functional way is difficult if not impossible. A couple of buttons controlling the camera might have worked better. For the attack selection sometimes you are given two options which both have a sword icon and I still haven’t figured out the difference. So the PC game is still better but for an IPad game this is outstanding. The issues noted are why I can’t give it 5 stars.

Game is great, but what about Macedon?
First off, the game is great. Buy it. However, as anyone who’s played the PC version knows, there are some things that are fun to do in the PC version, but are impossible to do in the iOS one. First off: there are certain factions that can’t be unlocked, such as Macedon. There is frankly no reason for them to be unplayable, so why not make them unlockable? Second off, there are some settings that can be edited in the PC version through text files. Some have been ported over, but others, like unlimited men on battlefield and AI prefer naval invasions, have not been. Is it possible to get them ported over? Keep up the good work Feral!

The honest review
I am a huge player of Rome Total War on the PC. I have thousands of hours spent playing since I was younger. I was excited about it coming to mobile and I was severely disappointed. Not 5 minutes into playing it, I was booted out of the game 6 times because of a bug while trying to que units. The battle map experience is difficult to pick up until you put many hours into it. My third battle I kept trying to face my units towards the cavalry to protect the flank and it wouldn’t allow me to do that, it instead created a move command to make the unit walk in circles. I get there are things that need to be different to adapt it to a mobile screen, but the execution I feel could be much better. I’ll definitely be sticking to the PC. Now if I could just get my money back…

No Remastered
I am totally into the Rome: Total War Series on both PC & Mac and I am also playing the RTW on my iPhone and its cool and I am ok with the UI. Remastered was released earlier this year for PC & Mac but not for iOS and considering the game engine & UI for Remastered is identical to the original RTW that came to iOS with nothing more different than a Fresh Coat of Paint - then why cant the Remastered come to iOS? Remastered uses the exact same game engine - exact same UI. I emailed the Devs asking the question & they replied that there are no plans For Years to being Remastered to iOS. The Devs did not give me any details for their decision but it was very disappointing news. I’ll gladly pay $30 for Remastered so please reconsider brining Remastered to iOS.

Great game, but one particularly annoying bug.
First and foremost, thank you for making the game playable on mobile. Everything is how I imagined it to be and more. The controls are intuitive and the battles are as exciting as PC, and the campaign mechanics are there too. There is one bug that tends to ruin the game at times. Sometimes during battles, the soldier’s models will be lowered in quality and their limbs will look like spikes. The shadows and trees also break and the game runs considerably worse. Even if I restart the app, the bug sometimes persists until I get lucky. Overall, I love the game. If this is fixed, I will be sure to change my review to 5 stars. Once again, thanks a lot!

I paid for this app thinking that my investment would mean a quality game that I could enjoy for many months to come. Not only has this been a terrible gameplay experience but it has literally become unplayable due to what customer support has blamed on new IOS update. So now every 5 minutes the game will freeze and crash. Just to sum it up. I purchased the app a little over a month ago and for now over two weeks the game is completely inoperable. I have never been so disgusted with a poorly developed game. Rest assured several weeks ago I was comforted to know the team is diligently trying to solve the problem. “Sarcasm implied” Hey feral how about a refund? Do you guys honestly think this is acceptable in anyway? I never write a review but this is outrageous and I hope this review keeps even one person from burning $10 on an useless game. Do the right thing Feral!

One of the Greatest Strategy Games of All Times
I played this game when it came out for PC and I loved it then. I was thrilled when I found out it was available on iPhone. It is the perfect mix of turn based and real-time strategy games. It is largely historically accurate allowing you to take the helm of one of three historical Roman families. I seriously cannot out put this game down. Every so often there are issues with the touch interface but they are not obtrusive. It is worth the price. This game will have your enemies crying, “A cloud has fallen on our shore, the mighty hand and sword of Roman war.” “And remember, our Roman gods are watching. Make sure they are not ashamed!”

Excellent!
This is an excellent port of an excellent game! The touch controls are fairly intuitive and once mastered allow for a great gaming experience. My only suggestion would be the addition of game pad/controller support for those who prefer that. I know many of their games do support this and unless I missed how to enable it, it’s absence here is the only downside to this app I have found so far. This downside however is still not enough to prevent me from giving this game a 5 star rating. I’m sure my family will be seeing the top of my head far too often this holiday season as I’ll be looking down at my screen so much! Well done!

Unfortunate
This would have been a great game, and don’t get me wrong there is some enjoyment (it IS Total War Rome). Looks beautiful and runs well on iPad( I had maybe a crash here in there) The unfortunate part is that there doesn’t seem to be much effort at all into battle controls. Super unfortunate given that is where this game should excel on iPad. I may be wrong, but I really don’t think that part of the port should have been that difficult and there are plenty of examples of games doing it muuuch better. The problems in battle controls: No way to easily change direction of your units. When moving multiple units it always defaults back to the original ai formation You can use the grouping feature but then there are many glitches where units move to unwanted locations or just will not respond to any input. The selection area of units doesn’t line up properly, you try to move a unit next to another and it will just select the other unit. It’s honestly pretty upsetting considering this is paid app and from a professional studio. I’d be pretty disconcerted with the project management and testing there. I don’t think they’ll be updating this.

Great, but one question
I am so enthralled in this game. Have been enjoying it a ton. It has hours of gameplay and plenty of strategy and fun to go around. Only question I need answered is, when will more total wars come to ios. This game I was skeptical at first, but seeing how it has been moved over and works incredibly well. I just want medieval 2 or any of the other titles. The older ones are probably easier to convert and run on iOS. Would love to see more titles switch over. If that happens then I know plenty will play it. I know I’ll empty my wallet for a medieval 2 on iOS. All in all great game

Never Gets Old......
I’ve been playing Rome on my PC for a number of years, and after I upgraded to the latest iPad, I purchased the game, and it has not disappointed in any way. My only wish that there were more historical “Set Piece,” battles available. What keeps the game from getting dated, is the ability to create my own custom battles, but this can be time consuming, so more ready to go battles would make it even better. But, it’s still relevant, after years of playing. Oh, one more thing. I wish they Barbarians version was available as an add-on or as a stand alone purchase too. Update. It is now available. Thank You!

They guy
First and importantly THANK YOU SO BLOODY MUCH FOR THIS GAME IT IS BEYOND AMAZING ABD THE BEST WAR GAME OF THE TIMES THANK YOU. However there is one slight problem I can play everything except the SPOR Roman senator that sorta takes away the excitement of feeling like your a true Roman fighting different fractions. I’m would like an update not just for me but anyone else who agrees that we should also have the options of commanding the heart of ROME. This would be one reason to give you way more credit than you need even so this game is still amazing. But just so I’m aware will there be an update where we do have that option of commanding the sentate or other fraction. Please let me know thank you

Long awaited, and couldn’t be more satisfied
I’ve always wanted to be able to play the total war games on iPhone and figured it was just too much of a programming challenge. When i found this app had finally been released, I was shocked to find it is EXACTLY like the computer version, which is AMAZING. There have been mimic apps that attempted to recreate what the total was game does, but they’ve never come close. Yes, it’s a touch screen, but once you are used to the controls, it truly is an awesome play that you can take anywhere. Nothing is as fun as the total war series! The world is a better place for this app!

Great Game
Overall, Rome Total War is a great game. Any fan of strategy or RTS games should absolutely consider buying it. However, there are some bugs. The most prominent of these is a weird glitch pertaining to the fog and war and console commands. Whenever I start a new campaign, the fog of war is off, and I cannot open the console command to fix it. I personally consider this a game breaking bug, but others might not, or might not experience it. Of not for that, Rome Total War would easily get a 5/5 review Edit: Forget everything about the bugs. It was user error. Rome gets a 5/5 review!!!

Close to PC quality
Real time battle mechanics are tougher to recreate, but I think they did great work on the campaign map and its conversion to mobile device. I am unsure if it’s me or the game, but I cannot position my troops to face a specific angle in real-time. I used to use that as a tactic when outnumbered by multiple armies on PC. I would back into a corner on a hill with spears in a semi circle archers in center with horse ready to counter flanking maneuvers, but again I can’t seem to figure out how to position troops at an angle. Side note, would love to see Barbarian invasion expansion come to mobile!!! Would pay extra for that dlc.

There is always improving needed
The game series is the best in all of gaming, the graphics, gameplay, and strategy that comes along with this brings old ancient warfare to life in the hands you possess by just a tap on your phone you can become great commanders of great armies in this game. You can relive the battles that once happened, sieges that once took place, go into the eyes of what Julius Caesar once saw; total war. I have been playing the total war series for quite some time now, and have finally played this game on the iOS. The only thing needed is Online Multiplayer!!!!!! Until that is fulfilled may I finally play a game in great competition amongst others around the world!

Missing factions, unresponsive controls
The game DOES NOT have all the original campaign factions playable. One needs to check the obtuse FAQ on their site to find out about 5 or 6 factions which were playable in the PC campaign via a simple file edit, literally changing one value, were left out. What the dev keeps talking about with the unlock from settings, are the advertised factions which would unlock after beating the game anyway. That outright problem and deceptive as crap marketing, the battles apparently auto save DURING the fight? No wonder they’re laggy still on a 1 year old IPad. Weak. Unit numbers tied to device, no green settings, incredibly buggy controls and missing content. Yea guys, the content is missing. The assets exist in the custom battles, and in the campaign. Y'all CHOSE not to make them playable, please prove me wrong by telling everyone here in writing, either about a licensing issue which forbade y’all from adding them, or why it’s technologically impossible to do that. Since I paid for your product, I expect an answer. Why were the Dacia et al. factions left out of the imperial campaign? Please don’t tell me I can go into the settings and unlock Egypt and all that, absolutely not what I’m talking about.

Good game, pretty bad controls
This is a really great game. I’ve been wanting to play total war on the PC for a while, then found it was on the phone too. It has been fun so far, but the controls are very frustrating. I think they were meant for iPads with much bigger screens, because I can’t precisely select and move and position my troops effectively. I often find myself just bungling up the battle most of the time because I can’t properly position my troops. But it’s still a fun game. It’s historical, you can build town, make troops, make alliances, and never get bored. I just wish there were better controls.

Love This Game!
I absolutely love this game and I can’t get enough of it, but I’m sure a multiplayer/hot seat mode would be greatly appreciated and accepted. One thing that I will add is that it is close to impossible to rule over all of Rome. Thanks for your time and hard work I know that it is your goal to create good quality games and that, well you already accomplished that. Thanks for your time. One thing that I will add is that I wish you could play as every faction. If you played as the Roman senate you would have to manage the different houses and stop one from getting to powerful to hold the republic together.

The best PC game on mobile
Seriously one of the best PC game brought to mobile. I downloaded this game a couple years ago and I noticed there were some bugs as it was expected especially when you’re converting a game from the early 2000’s into a new mobile game version. But I recently downloaded it again when I got my new iPhone 14 and WOW, there’s been some major improvement to make it more mobile compatible and user friendly. I still can’t believe one of the best PC games is on mobile. Making this in my opinion, the BEST MOBILE GAME EVER!

Just one word: WOW!
Never played total war series before and I gave it a try last week. What a game! For me it is much better and fun than civilization. For big battles, I have to play on slow speed and constantly scroll between my 2 flanks and click pause and issue order. It is not an issue, just so many things going on on the battlefield at the same time. Now I see why this game is truly a master piece. It is a tricky game though, especially on the map level, don’t grow your cities fast or you get into un-reversible trouble. It is a mechanism preventing you grow your cities too fast.
