I love Salem Five as my bank but this app is SO BAD. I understand the upgrades were more than likely done for security reasons, but I have some other financial institutions apps and they are secure and 100x better than this. There whole new banking system is awful too. My direct deposit is now not available until almost 5 hours after when it used to be available. On the old system I would see a charge I made immediately, now sometimes I do sometimes I don't. It's really annoying and I am considering switching banks if this is not fixed soon.
I love Salemfive a bank that I can trust the employees are awesome Odalis is always available her good heart shes one of a kind she’s a hard worker. .Cristina is dedicated to serve us in every way she helps making any process go smoothly her help is always helpful. Lina another hard worker she’s always nice and patient. I think the whole staff is wonderful and helpful. Today when I tried to use the Salem 5 app a pop up notice regarding “beware of scams” appeared. This is the same information I received via email from Salem 5 this week. I appreciate the information but I can’t access the login screen on the app, there is no way to “exit” the pop up or close it out. I closed out the app and restarted it a couple times but the pop up notice remains and I can’t exit it so I can’t access my account. I guess I’ll have to use a desktop browser now to access my account.
When it works it’s nice and simple, better or equal to other bank apps I’ve tried. But .... don’t turn on FaceID as it crashes the app every single time. In order to you use the app, you have to hold the phone at a weird angle to prevent FaceID working. But turn off FaceID in iOS settings and now the app won’t work at all 🤦♂️ Was FaceID logon tested?
I haven’t even been able to get this app to work for me. I have deleted it, restarted my phone & Re-downloaded the app several times and it still closes on its own as soon as I log in. Every. Single. Time. Guy from tech support wasn’t sure how to help because their troubleshooting involves doing exactly what I have already done .. deleting App, restarting phone, and redownloading the app. Please fix this!! -I cannot figure out how to reply directly to the developers comment, so I am updating my review in response- no, this issue has not been fixed. I just tried re-downloading it and upon logging in it immediately closed. I’m on iOS 16.5.1
If it’s not broke don’t fix it! This app is terrible. Statements are no longer available and I can no longer search for transactions. Sadly, they seem to have messed up the regular online banking site too, when I login on the computer a search for debits only gives me ALL transactions. Also, it seems that statements are only available for the past few months, and that when they updated the software all previously uploaded statements were wiped from the system? Since I was enrolled in paperless statements I don’t have any records of what I need to double check my tax return. I guess paper statements is the way to go with this bank now that they ruined the app. The old app was so good, too!
I have a business account but then I’m limited on how many checks I can deposit a day and some days it’s more than a certain amount and other days it just won’t let me deposit saying I exceeded my amount limit. My personal bank allows more deposits than Salem Five. In addition, you don’t allow me to review more deposited checks and it can only date back to a month which is ridiculous. I should be able to see all transactions and tap on a deposit to see the image of the check and the details of who the check is from. Salem Five needs to improve severely on their online banking.
I do enjoy the app as a way to quickly check my account history though I wish I could expand each transaction to view more details without having to log onto the actively website. A recent negative is that at one point the finger print Touch ID was no longer working and after much trial and error the only way to fix it was to uninstall and reinstall the app.
Bank is fine but the app is Meh. No warning when password is due. If you’re using a mobile device and need to check your account, the last thing you want is to be locked out until you choose a new password. Recently had an issue where the app would not allow me to change my email address. Had to call support and wait half morning till that was resolved🙁
This is a bank that I can trust and it offers everything I need. I have been a member for over 40 years. Their customer service is outstanding. This app does everything I need and easy to use. Everybody should go to Salem Five! THANKS!!!!
If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The old app worked way better. When they upgraded their system, they decided to use this app. The Touch ID feature never works so I always have to type in my password even when I supposedly set up the Touch ID each time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times with no change. I have 2 other banks I have that use this same platform for their apps and I never have any issues with those. Sounds like you have some bugs to fix.
From a user's perspective there was no need to change the original app- this 'new' version takes us back in time and technology. There is no transaction search function. This is a very basic feature - that has been skipped? Can only view the last 30 days of transactions? Absurd. User friendly this app is not and aesthetically it looks amateur (especially in comparison with the old app). This is not a good look in a world where you have to have effective technology to stay relevant.
Recently tried to open the app to check my account balance and can’t due to a notice that doesn’t let me close its notification about, “Beware of Scams! NEVER share your user ID, password or security codes with anyone! We will Never call you to ask for them. Do not authorize Zelle payments for fraudsters posing as Salem Five.” Please get this fixed and add a close notice feature I already deleted and reinstalled the app just for no changes to happen.
It’s not fun when every time I update this app it fails to log me in. Every single time. Now I have to go into a store just to update my phone # because I can’t do the security question because they don’t exist anymore. If it works the first time leave it alone, no one like going through all these new hoops & learning new updated security features when you already did it 20 times
Edit 2: can no longer pay bills or people from the app. Can’t see pending or posted payments. Hello, it’s 1993. Edit: moved from 2 stars to 1 star. Bill pay is extremely confusing, hard to see what’s pending and what’s paid. It says to log in to online banking for more detail ..... no, I’m not doing that. No more “card less cash” feature. Screen of accounts and balances shows "current balance" in bold above the "available balance", which when quickly glancing you'll no doubt read the balance in correctly and potentially overdraw. Also, card less cash was an awesome feature, which no longer exists. I'm sure there are new, great features I'll learn to love, but I'm disappointed in this Salem5 app after being ahead of the pack for so long.
I see no way to print Statements from the App. If I pull up a Statement on my phone from the App I see no Share Sheet option as I do with my PNC Bank App, and with all my credit card Apps. And Salem Five pushes people to opt out of mailed statements so it seems nothing less than dumb to not assure their customers can easily print their own statements. So frustrating. It’s just generally not a user friendly App.
It’s pretty good. Opportunities for improvement are having a more detailed search function to view transactions, and being able to view transactions further back in time.
I absolutely love Salem five, it’s all around great service from walking into a branch and getting great service to calling for needing help with the app, even the app is user-friendly! Thank you for all that you guys day!
It feels like I'm just waiting for terrible ads for candy crush to pop up or something the last app was smooth and sleek and felt very well done while this almost feels unfinished. Also I haven't been able to even access my accounts because for some reason it won't verify my number or something Seriously though are we gonna get an updated version soon or am I switching banks?
Unable to go from printing out a statement and back to the history list without having to close out and start again (and wait for the history dates to reload)!! Also can’t update in “profile” because that choice is not available. What used to be a user-friendly app is now soooo complicated and time consuming.
The app is down a lot which causes problems. I rely on the app to know my balances and it’s frustrating when it frequently doesn’t work. I’ve mentioned this at my local Salem Five branch but they say that it’s the service in my town, I know that’s not the issue. The app just needs some tweaks.
I’ve been a customer for many years. I was one of the first internet banking customers. Unfortunately, quality of service has been going down lately. Especially on internet banking side. The app is full of bugs and kicks me out all the time, resetting password is a hassle. Anyway, it is very frustrating.
The old app was fantastic - this however has many issues: most common and frustrating is that it constantly will not let me login despite correct credentials, and no longer displays cash in/out flow. I miss the detailed search and the ease of use of the previous app. Leave well enough alone. The only thing worth keeping here is instant balance!
This app just undersells what a banking app should be. I hate the fact they make you change your password so often and keep the double factor check as if logging in 3 times wasn’t already enough. It also doesn’t even have the transaction history to view on a savings account!
I love everything about this bank! It is such a fresh breath of air compared to the old Georgetown Saving Bank! They treat you with the utmost respect!
The app often doesn’t work at all (blank accounts screen). Even worse, I checked my mail one day to randomly find a check totaling to the entire amount of my money market account. This was sent to me without any reason or notice. Glad it made to my house. Needless to say, I would not recommend banking with Salem Five. Untrustworthy.
More like Stone-Age 5 bank. They just aren’t adjusting to the new day. They don’t really care about you as a customer. I had to close my account over some bogus charges I saw on my account and they didn’t even care to help, just disconnected the chat on me. Forced me to close my acct after 10 years.
I’m trying to login and this “beware of scam” takes up the whole page and there’s no exit/clear button. I tried closing app but still there. Not even deleting the app work.
I cannot see my transactions anymore. Says to call? Like how is this a bank with a nonfunctional app? I have to keep going to the website which is inconvenient. It’s been 2 weeks of this!😒 They have the money (our money) fix it! 🤬
I’ve never had so much trouble with a banking app until I downloaded this one. The Face ID very rarely works, so you’re forced to put in your User ID and password that I know are correct, but then I get “we are unable to validate your information.” I give up!!!
Salem Five has been a solid bano for decades but I hope they didn’t pay the company that performed their upgrade a few weeks ago. Unbelievable how buggy their new software is. And contacting a help desk online is now impossible. Not good for a bank!
This app is absolute junk. Half the tone you launch it and it just crashes. Once you manage to get into the app it is just clunky and non intuitive with all sorts of lousy non standard navigation. Where’s the option for zero stars?
Used to work fine, but yesterday I got the error, “This application or device has violated security policies”. I un and reinstalled the app, but it’s still broken. None of the other apps on my phone are giving me this error.
Honestly sick and tired of how inconvenient this freaking app is and their website . When I get the chance I’m pulling all my assets and my account I’m tired of having to be late on things because they can’t “validate my credentials at this moment “
Cardless cash? Every time I log in it says they can't verify my credentials and the only option I have is to call and reset my password every time. Extremely disappointed they booted us off the old app for 3 days and forced us to download this "new" one. Which doesn't even WORK!!!! Awful!
No ability to see incoming direct deposit a day or two before, external transfers take several days, and internal transfers between those not on your account also take several days. It’s 2019. Direct deposit doesn’t hit until 7am or 8am. It’s 2019. This app is awful.
This upgrade is awful. I a couple of accounts t with the same companies. I used to be able to tell them apart. I have no idea how I am going to tell them apart. My life has now become more complicated. If I could give this upgrade a zero I would!!!
Upgrade? I think not! It’s like you went back in time with this one. The pre-“upgrade” was perfect, no problems logging in, real-time information, easy to navigate. Less is more, S5, and you may just end up with less customers with this one. Did I mention HORRIBLE?
I’ve only been using the app for two weeks. App attempts to load then freezes at the bank banner screen. I’ve tried a re-boot as well as deleting and re-installing app. If the app is this poorly designed I’d be better changing banks.
