First off I’ve tried a lot of photogrammetry and Gaussian splatter apps. Most of them are limited in functionality are require subscriptions. Also results are mixed. When I saw this app was free I didn’t not expect this level of quality and options. Truely blown away. No taking hundreds of photos, with this you just scan/move in real time (even without a lidar). The feedback you get while scanning is so helpful for seeing where more detail is needed. Multiple processing options for photogrammetry and additional training enhancement time for splats make this the most user friendly and high quality app I’ve found so far. I don’t understand why other apps are so unintuitive, clunky and limited. Add to that it does all of its training/processing locally on your own device so internet connection is not needed. 👏 finally someone made a truely great scanning app for enthusiasts instead of just trying to milk the AppStore for microtransactions. 10/10
I’ve been making and posting board game videos but filming in tight spaces with kids and noise make it hard. I got this app to play with the idea of making cool little 3D scans and animations with them in another app only to learn that everything I wanted to do was built in and FREE to use!!! I’ve been building my library of scans to use and to 3D print for game night trophies for a few days now. The quality and clarity is fantastic and it delivers on the promise of being easy to use and I couldn’t be happier with this find. I haven’t played with the 3D printing yet but the video exports have been great.
For scanning - Exactly the app I wanted - fast interactive scanning with results processed on-device. No network connection required. A must-have app! I’d pay for this For viewing and sharing - not being able to set where the initial view, the orbit origin, the rotation limits, etc. is frustrating. I have 360 scans where the app limits my view angle. I have large scene scans where the initial view is dozens of meters from something reasonable. If I could set the view start position, orbit point, and rotation limits manually, this would be an easy 5 stars. Also, processing UX. Why can’t I refine scans further after saving it if I save scan data? Why can’t it also save depth, camera poses, etc. so I can continue training later?
From what I can tell so far, this is truest free! Like truest and honestly completely free! Now that’s what I’m talking about. I mean I pay for everything! EVERYTHING!!! And I’m TIRED of it! So along comes this app. What’s it called? Hang on…. Oh yeah scaniverse! Awesome! Freaking amazingly awesome!!! Now given I’ve only just begun! A mere 2 scans in! But I am loving it so far. Like totally LUVVVINNN IT . Now this can always change. If they come at me like ALRIGHT TOME TO PAY RHE PIPER. Then I shall update the review and most likely delete unless it becomes inexplicably evident that I simply cannot live without this incredible application of all things internets!!!
I looked at a few different software apps that do the same thing and they wanted a lot of money and they wanted you to pay right away without even being able to try it first this app is free and it doesn’t incredible job. The first couple scans I did came out kind of rough but after playing around with the software, I’m getting some really exceptional 3-D scans. I even made an avatar out of my wife who is very patient with me. I never expected the software works so good for something that’s free. Excellent product.
First update: scanning has been simple, but I’m needing to work more to identify if it’s technique or limitation with some intricate details I’m going for… the elusive 5th star when I work out that the hardware/user is the cause. Cropping is a welcome function when working in 3D spaces! Exporting in multiple formats is fast and easy. Developer taking note of store feedback and responding is a bonus! Original 1-star review: iPhone 13 Pro not actually supported - Even though the device is listed as supported, it won’t go past the demo screen (intended for devices without LiDAR). Looking forward to updating the review when working :)
I have tried about half a dozen of LiDAR room scanners and scaniverse is the easiest and fastest to use plus gives results as good as any other. One thing I have learned over time using proprietary camera apps over the last decade is you can’t put your eggs in one basket because you never know when a developer will yank their app off the store or stop developing for it. So my best advice is if you want to be sure to keep a scan for a long time is to scan a room twice using 2 different apps.
Let’s be real, this app is incredible. The only reason I why I give it 4 stars is because there’s no way to export out all your scans at once. There should be a way to select all meshes and either export as a zip folder or to send to iCloud or google drive. Please allow “select all” option and export. Also please add an easier way to leave feedback than having to leave the app or at the very least give the ability to copy the email address.
Im a real estate photographer and im getting tired of fixing floors plans like from cubicasa. To the point ill just draw my own. I need a simple app to capture the site to draw the plan from. After a quick test this app might do the trick! It allows me to process and export directly to the cloud drive, without paying for a darn subscription! (I have had enough of those). Honestly id happily pay ONCE for an app like this to help continue development.
It's 2021, why is there no support for both Landscape and Portrait mode? I have uses for both, why do my apps not support my choice? Also, I have an iPhone 11 pro max. Now, obviously it doesn't have the LIDAR system but my 2021 ipad pro DOES, and I can share files between the two devices. You mean to tell me you can't let me open and view my own scans on my device which obviously supports viewing because there is the option to "view demo scan" right beside the "lol ur device don't got the lidar" error. No let me hurry and go buy a new phone so I can view things I made on another device....nope
I’m new to using the LiDAR function of my new iPad Pro and was looking for ways to quickly make 3D models by taking pictures of objects. I tried several of the apps on the AppStore and Scaniverse made the most accurate 3D models, was easy to use, allowed me to crop and change the sharpness and contrast of the image, and let me export the models to multiple 3D image formats. Best of all it is now free (the developer indicated that there is no longer a “Pro” version of the app)! Great job, thank you!
Ngl i downloaded the app just because it was the first one that didn’t have in app purchases so i dont know what other apps are like but for free you get to scan a room and get a rough model of it on your iPad. Honestly crazy app and you need to try it if youre thinking of modeling a room and want to have a scan of it to go off of. My garage is very detailed with tons of stuff just lying around and with a 5 min scan it picked up most of it. Wow just wow
I did not know I would love doing 3-D models or pictures as much as I do! This is a very fast and pretty good rendering app. It would be nice to know what programs work best with it though as far as utilizing the role data. I think if there was a way to do like for us and daughter something to keep things in perspective for the app to use LiDAR it would give much better resolution and less artifacts. I love this app thank you guys so much.
This app is very fun and useful, I first heard of it during a conference. It was being used to make interactive databases for museum artifacts so people could move the artifacts around and look at them without risking too much exposure. It takes a bit to make a super great model but it is worth the time. The splat AI mode yields great results. It is a wonderful use of the lidar on phones that I didn’t even know I had.
This app is very easy to use and a wonderful teaching tool for LiDAR room and photo metric object scans And it all runs on the host device and not the cloud I wish the photogrammetry scan could be of better quality but again the time it only takes to make them is also attractive when you just need a quick model like for sketchUp.
What can I not say! I will keep it simple, very very nice app a must have. I’ve been looking for this for years this makes life much easier and detailed. Especially for the 3d printing artist and graphics design. Author you and your team are awesome! I would give you ten! Stars if I could! Thank you for your god given talent and happy new years to you all!
Best mobile app by a fair margin. The results often exceed even expensive desktop software. Desktop apps have more editing tools but this produces a cleaner beginning scan, which almost eliminates the need for all of the fancy editing tools desktop apps have. Very very impressive, and it’s free, the publisher should get some kind public service award for this.
It blows my mind that a free app running on a iPhone can create scans like this. In the photogrammetry world of take pictures l, upload them to your powerful desktop, and process them, can take hours. Scaniverse takes minutes for a comparable scan. And now Gaussian splatting. Unbelievable this runs a phone. iPhone 15 pro max.
Now that it works on the iPhone 13 Pro I got a chance to run it through its paces a little bit. It really works remarkably well though it is definitely resolution limited such that you can’t really scan small objects that are just a foot or two across with any level of detail. Still it’s quite impressive and I look forward to seeing how I can experiment with these assets in AR.
A Phenomenal company giving powerful tools to the people for free. This company puts human exploration and advancement above market profits, caring more about giving tools to future generations. Bravo !! Update: Still phenomenal, splats are so so so crazy good! I can’t wait until you can rotate, AR view, and export a splat scan just like a mesh scan; keep up the important work!
While the app does some pretty nice scans, their confusing privacy policy has me wondering. Their blog, specifically about Gaussian Splat, notes that everything stays on device. While their privacy policy on the App Store notes that data linked to you is “use content, location” among a host of others. Also, developer is Toolbox AI, but the privacy policy leads to Niantic, so that creates further confusion. It would be nice if the developer more clearly stated how how and when user content stays or leaves the device.
Most impressed with ease of use, clarity and features. I use Scaniverse to document areas I am remodeling and find it much easier to use than other paid apps. Congratulations to the development team, I work in software and am impressed. Was trying to pay for app to help fund work but not clear if that is set up yet.
I have downloaded countless “free” scanner apps, all of which yield suboptimal quality, and nearly all of them require an unreasonable price to even export your scans. This app surpassed my expectations in every way. It’s completely free, and the scan quality is really good. It’s perfect for 3D printing! Thank you so much for developing this app.
Totally free and no ads, professional and intuitive UI, accurate scanning without needing LiDAR sensor, can export as 3d model files. Unbelievable that this app exist. Feature request: 1. Currently only models scanned through this device can be exported as files, and there’s no way to share the scan across devices. The closest feature of sharing is by publishing on Scaniverse in the “sharing” tab, but models from the “Scaniverse” cannot be exported as files. It will be great to be able to export models from “sharing” as .obj files. 2. It will be great to be able to camera between front and back cameras during scan.
I think this is the only app that can effectively scan objects. All other scanning apps are meant for rooms and have a very hard time scanning objects. This app also includes a free photogrametry algorithm which is very hard to come by. All other apps try to get you on subscriptions. This app has the best developer!!!
I’ve used a number of LIDAR apps, and I agree w others that this is the best iPhone app. Having said that, this tech is still very new and most of my scans, frankly, have a bit of an AppleMaps 1.0 vibe. Looking forward to seeing this tech improve, both the mesh accuracy, and particularly the texture / image mapping capabilities. As it stands right now, this is more of a novelty than something that can reliably generate usable 3D scans.
This app makes my scanning of 3d objects really good quality, plus it’s free. All the other apps make it harder for just a simple scan. I can import images to my pc refine and rebuild without having a stress headache. Doing some small projects and using this app is a blessing, good karma on the way to the developers.
At one point this app was decent, but it was quickly surpassed by other apps. A lot of other apps have a strong suite, wether it’s scanning large spaces, small objects, or having clean textures. Scaniverse doesn’t have a strong suite in any of those categories. You are often left with many holes and gaps in the model after thorough scanning. It does scan as described, but you’re better off scanning with something else.
I have been wanting to get to know LiDAR for quite some time, downloaded some apps, and they’ve just been sitting here on my iPhone. I just opened this up, scanned a small part of my house, seen soooo much detail. I just finished scanning my whole house, it was lit. All for free, thank you boss
I love the app and even upgraded a phone just to get better results. Unfortunately now I am trying to export the models and they don’t look as good as they do in the app. I want the same quality I see in the phone but on my own system. Maybe I am not choosing the right export but it losses a bunch of detail.
So far, loving this app. Outperformed my expectations. Just needed to scan things and then measure them and then save the photo of the measurements. Very easy interface, easy to learn. The AR use of scans wasn’t important too me but now having fun with it too. And now exploring the idea of 3D printing the scans.
Fast and simple rendering yields astonishingly good results! I am by no means a professional, but even with my limited experience I was able to create detailed renderings of objects in my area. I also enjoy browsing the map and seeing the work of others!
Based on the alternatives especially, but even in it’s own right, this app is very impressive in the quality of scans. Love the disappearing stripes signal used to show you what’s been captured. Well worth the premium, btw, for highest quality.
After Action Review: Admittedly I am not the most technologically savvy person around, however, I can with proper instruction figure things out. I was not raised with electronics and as far as I know I was following the instructions properly when all I got was a blurry facsimile of what I was going for but that might just be a practice thing too… time will tell. If there is a way to walk me through a better picture taking lesson I’m all ears folks. Happy photographing
…I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve been looking to get a 3D app that will supplement my surreal image making. This app does it and it’s freakin’ free! And it’s simple to use. My only critique is that it shuts off the flashlight when scanning. Would be great to evenly illuminate the subject.
This app allowed me to export my scans as FBX for FREE. On top of that i could regulate the quality of the scan and crop it. This app is perfect. I almost paid for polycam and it is no where close to as good as this. Made my day and saved me monies. Use this before paying for anything else!!!!
I used this app a lot of times and I love it and also wish that all the tools in mesh could be on Gaussian splats also can you add an auto mode when you select the size of the object on mesh please it always doesn’t work and process good in mesh but the app is STILL SUPER GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
We all want the cost of a hamburger and flavor of a steak. I give this five stars because this app is both free and they continue to improve the product. Is it a steak yet , maybe not but it continues to feel like it is on its way.
The cool factor is high. But if a picture is worth a thousands words, 3D scans are worth a million. Today I scanned my car’s bumper that was damaged at a parking lot hit and run. Shared it with a friend to discuss possible fixes. He can see exactly what the damage is, much better than a handful of pictures. We have scanned rooms before going to the furniture store. The salesperson can see exactly what we have, including doorways, windows, and wall decorations, and visualize how new furniture can be placed. And the best part of this app? The cost.
Tech is obviously still not there yet. Tried several scans of objects and small areas and Images do not come out as displayed at all. I’d like to see the scan reviews some people are giving 5 stars of because its a bit hard to believe Compared to polycam and 3D scanner app, scaniverse does tend to do better with their stripe notices
Tried all of the lidar apps and this is currently the best
Easily the best as of now in terms of functionality and usability. Would be cool if we could watch a certain amount of ads each day in return for a use of the ultra quality render.
I literally used this app for a minute or two and I immediately was shocked by the quality of the 3d scans. Not only did it make a very accurate and clean model, but it kept the texture with amazing results. I’m impressed!
This app is literally the goat. Thank you so much for making this accessible to more people, and adding functionality for scanning even without a lidar phone. Impressive software and amazing execution.
This company allows you to test drive the app, and they are confident that the results will be well worth owning. I don’t currently have an income, but I plan on paying for at least 1 month, just as a Thank You.
But it’s free. No point complaining. The bigger the model the more scanning the more the app will get disoriented. It should use visual queues to make corrections along the way, but it will instead produce doubles of edges and so on. Still, pretty useful and fun with loads of promise if they keep improving it…
Isn’t letting me use the app on my 13 Pro Max… telling me I don’t have LiDAR… UPDATE: the new updated version that came out did fix this problem and now app is MUCH better. Response was very quick! Good work guys/gals!
This app is fast and after a few tries we just can’t believe how wel built it is. It scans and processes really fast. The export is amazing can export as stl for 3D printing and a glb for XR use when. Highly recommended.
Scans well if you know what your doing. Fun to mess with. Plus there are no hidden fees or “premium version, subscription” to found. Though I have got some great scans with this app, it can be finicky at times.
The app was finally fixed, so I upped my rating. I feel like these apps aren’t quite up to where the tech is, so I’m giving it 4 stars for now. I hope updates in the future allow me to up this to 5, because it’s very fun to play with.
This is my first download of a LiDAR scanning app, it’s fantastic but my only complaint is that it doesn’t produce files I can put into Sketchup or AutoCAD and all the conversions I see online cost money not sure if this is a IP thing and they have to pay to use his file formats.
