I use it a lot and love it mostly. My big complaint is the day or two delay between making a Bill Pay payment and a reduction in the account balance (when the bill pay also disappears making it difficult to see current account balance and pending debits.)
Let me say up front that I like SDFCU as an institution. My problems relate solely to their app, which is sourced from a vendor. Obviously, the State Department has numerous overseas customers. We travel frequently, so access through a web page is no always a good option, and the app is essential. Twice this year, in July 2020 and now, the vendor has attempted to program “enhancements” to the app which has resulted in total loss of service to some overseas users. The first time, service was disrupted for nearly a month. Then, after fixing the problem, there was about a month of usability until, about a week ago, service was again interrupted. The vendor’s approach to these issues has been to first request information from the customer on a variety of technical points: IP address, device, OS, etc., which are completely reasonable. However, after obtaining the information, there has been no explanation or response. At present, the app is unusable and untrustworthy, which seriously and negatively impacts my SDFCU experience.
SDFCU use to be a favorite but as of the past few years (been a member since the 90’s) the services have declined tremendously. Their Zelle is always failing, so it no use to have it setup it since it is unusable. Checking account ACH withdrawals lend for way to long and shows inaccurate account balance to its members How can you have items pending and the available balance are the same Current should be balance including with a pending not same as available balance - with items showing as pending- this is so inaccurate! Every withdrawal triggers a security alert -causing account to lock - but no one Service Rep can change the settings including the Member to reduce alerts! Customer Service rep spent 45min of my time talking about his personal business verse solving my issue.
All it shows is current balance, which is not necessarily in line with available credit. I paid my balance in full, which then reflects a zero balance in the app. Turns out it takes 5 days for the payment to post after it’s made. That’s fine, but it said I had a zero balance the payment was showing in the transactions, so I assumed all of my credit limit was available, and I had I learn this this hard way. . .had to get embarrassed at the store when I tried to make a purchase, because I didn’t have enough available credit. The website shows available credit, so this should be an easy fix for the app. Just get the data and display it.
I've been using this app with great success for some time, until it stopped working about a half year ago. Now, whenever I attempt to open it, I get this error message, which is quite annoying to say the least. I even deleted it from my iPhone for months, hoping that it would get updated and remove the bugs that was causing it not to function like it used to. But right after I downloaded it to my iPhone again and input my login ID and password, that old familiar error message popped up once again!
The app is always saying ERROR and it’s always right when I need to use it. I just tried to use it just now and of course when I really need it it won’t load. It says try back again as if I can just wait on their servers to ever function correctly. I was hoping to see lots of improvements in this app through the years but NOPE!!! And it still doesn’t send alerts for whenever you make a purchase the alerts it does send are hours late. App needs a total refresh this app is waaaaay behind other financial institutions’ apps!
When the system does work, it is very convenient, however, In my experience it crashes a lot. I know it is not my service because other apps work, but other than that, it is great.
I have been using this app for years and it has been great. Recently, probably a month or two ago, anytime my wife or I try to use the mobile check deposit, we get an error saying rotate your phone. It does not go away and I have to leave the app to use it again. Fix that and id give a 5 star review.
SDFCU mobile app by far is the most user-friendly and efficient of all the apps that I use! I appreciate the upfront account information at a glance and not once has my banking information been incorrect!
The app gives you all the tools you need living overseas. All accounts in real time except for the credit card when you pay (a two/three delay). Instant info when needed. Would be 5 stars if the credit card balance was reflected instantly like USAA.
The app won’t let me log on and tells me to provide valid log in information, but I can log in via the website just fine. I called customer service and it was a complete waste of my time as the woman had no idea how to fix the issue. This was especially unfortunate as the new SDFCU phone system I needed to go through is also not user friendly. I have been an SDFCU customer for many years, and the service is just going downhill generally.
I’ve been a member for almost 30 years and this has made my banking tasks a cinch. Great credit Union with a great app. Helps me find atm’s with no fees. Useful for depositing checks. 98% of what I need my credit Union for I can do with the app. A++
The app tells me “rotate to continue deposit” no matter what position I move my phone to. I am now unable to complete a mobile deposit until this is fixed at some indeterminate point. Mobile check deposit was working fine until recently.
It has all the basic features and at least for me it is reliable and doesn’t crash. Visually it definitely improved in the last 8 months but it’s not quite as nice as some of online banking apps but I don’t mind as long as is works.
Absolutely fantastic app! I used to use the mobile site frequently until I came across using the app and now I can't look back. Face ID integration is also just as secure as it is convenient.
Can no longer deposit checks. App says the phone must be rotated, but camera never functions even after phone is rotated. I’ve tried on multiple phones, but none work.
This institution is horrible! I had a car loan, it is almost impossible to make payments to the principal and even when I called because that is the only option it just got deposited in my shares account with my loan interest continuing to accumulate. Just tried to pay off my loan in entirety - every option besides going in person requires a fee.
Current app is lacking functionality in regards to multiple accounts. Other banks and credit unions apps have no problems displaying multiple accounts for individuals with multiple accounts but sdfc lacks this functionality altogether.
This new update is horrible. The app has issues recognizing when you are holding the phone sideways to take a photo of a check for mobile deposit. I have to slam the side of my phone into furniture to get the app to detect my phone is sideways. Please fix!!!
I have had countless difficulties online since setting up my account. This is the least user friendly platform I have ever seen, with problems in all areas of functionality. I plan to close my newly opened account.
This update isn’t working! I keep getting told to rotate my device to deposit my check but it isn’t rotating. Just displaying a grated out screen. Big with the update. Very frustrating.
Both app and people of SDFCU are buggy, and will cost you money, credit score, and health. They are unprofessional and they don’t have any drive to improve. I am so sorry I got tangled with them.
