Yes, a must buy. Great training session that allows you to increase your speed as your skill level increases. The built is high quality and can take a few bangs. My only rub is that the speed, for those who master the ride, should be able to be adjusted to at least 15 miles per hour. It says 12 mph but you actually get 11 with an annoying beeping sound. I’m okay with the beep, but let it beep at 15 mph. I hope some type of software update change change the speed! There are e-skateboards that go 15 mph!
My husband bought two Ninebot scooters for my birthday. We live on CA coast and thought they would be perfect for jaunts around town, for a variety of reasons. However, for a variety of reasons, this is not safe. Here are two: The Ninebots do not go the advertised speed (20mph) and that makes them unsafe to take on the road. 20 km is as fast as they’ve gone—it’s NOT the same thing. Not being able to depend on the speed is a big deal. We would not have bought them if we did not think we could trust them to go as advertised. The app does not stay connected to the scooter, and we’ve had issues with locking it and not being able to unlock it. We hoped to use it as alternative transportation to firing up our truck for small errands; now we have to take the truck to pick up the scooter/s. From what other reviewers have said, the speed could be fixed via the app. As for the lock issue, If you’re going to sell a high end scooter, it would be smart to build a sufficient app to go with it. Disappointed in Segway selling a product that is far less than what they advertised.
This app was easy to setup an account with. The initial pairing and registration process with the scooter was fast and easy. On the day-to-day use the app is great. The dashboard shows live speed and power output (or input if your regenerating) battery temp, miles, time, etc. very cool! Just wish I could see live power info on the ninebot display instead of my phone but oh well! The app runs smooth, it connects to the scooter very very fast, almost instantly when I open the app! Although it’s a good app there’s always room for improvement. Being able to customize what your scooter dash is displaying would be a huge upgrade for customers. Personally I’d love to see live battery watts or percentage up there, not just speed. Let’s say your cruising flat ground and using 160 watts to maintain speed, the display could show “16” to indicate 160 watts or “43” for 430 watts. Then a little negative symbol to show if you are in regen braking.
1. Option for front light doesn’t saved! I want always front light be enabled after I turn scoter ON! 2.Annoying message - no internet!!! I never give this app an internet!! Just don’t ever show me that there is no internet! This message is blocking view!!! 3. In Ukraine there is no any law of speed for Ninebot G2, but why it’s limited to some EU rules? Ukraine is not in EU, so any rules should not apply to Ukraine!!! 4. Also: I need a button on the main screen - which will allow once a charge to 100% without changing charge limit settings. So for example, if I have a charge limit set to 80% and I press charge to max(100%) button then this time until I disconnect cable charging will be up to 100%, only this time. So I don’t need to go to setting and change charge limit to 100 and then go back.. I really need just one tap and charge to 100% right now and only once. 5. Switching between GT2 and G2 in the app, like I want to change settings one then another, is a nightmare! It doesn’t connects to any scoter, which is turned on, both are. Only restarting app helps.
I bought my ninebot kick max for transportation, and I am a long time longboard, bicycle and scooter user. The app features rarely work, and it doesn’t stay connected to the scooter. The charging feature is near impossible to understand how to operate currently without additional insight, and from the horror stories I’ve heard I don’t want to update the app and lose speed/performance on my scooter either. It should go 32km/hr or 20mph, and it already doesn’t… please consider a non regulated speed mode for users who A. Use their ninebot on roads making swift speeds safer than slower ones. And B. Who are adults whom understand the risks of higher speeds. Other modes of transportation inform the buyer of the risks but generally allow the user to also use at their own risk. Cars don’t cap out at 75mph, is eco friendly transportation is going to evolve and continue catching on this needs to be addressed ASAP. The scooter itself is good enough, despite its max distance being roughly 1/2 of what’s advertised, but the app tech and regulations have a palpable insufficiency.
***UPDATE*** Worst App + eBike integration I’ve ever seen. The app was already horrible, but after the recent update it won’t let me login. It says account doesn’t exist. If I try to create a new account it says it can’t because the email is already in use (with the account that it also says doesn’t exist.) So basically, I’m locked out of my $2200 eBike with no way to recover and support not responding. The c80 is heavily app dependent and the bikes are bound to a specific user via the app, so the bike is basically a paperweight now. This company is a ripoff! Original review - Just got a C80. The bike is an abstract work of art. The app however…horrible. I keep getting “weak network signal. Please try again later.” It doesn’t matter if I have 5 bars or am sitting on the bike with 5 bars. It’s constant. Often the error comes right as whatever I’m trying to do actually processes, but that’s 50/50 as many times the app just hangs. What’s worse the app isn’t intuitive in the least. This needs a major redesign. I’m surprised The Segway name would be put on something this bad.
The app has glitches when talking to reps on app , sometimes it won’t let you text them . More app updates options for all the units , for example emoped needs to give us ability to turn on and off leds ( front rear and handle bar ) also give us the ability to change alarm sound to a real loud and scary sound as the c80 has a friendly alarm low level alarm , I heard many have gps issues after app updates . Ability to have all over units the control on app to reduce if needed the top speed and low speed . A way to let us use or move the emoped with out sitting or alarma engaging while we aren’t setting to have the ability to push it and go throw some much settings or ways and won’t lock while using airlock . More accessibility of replacement stores apps
Choosing a Segway Scooter Was Easy Thanks to This App
The app was the reason I chose a Segway scooter, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. It offers a comprehensive dashboard that shows you real-time mileage, speed, and charge levels, making it incredibly easy to monitor and manage my rides. The user-friendly interface and reliable performance make it an indispensable tool for any Segway scooter owner. It has significantly enhanced my riding experience by providing all the essential information at a glance. Thanks to this app, my commute is now more enjoyable, and stress-free. I highly recommend this app to anyone who owns or is considering a Segway scooter. It truly elevates the riding experience to a whole new level.
My husband and I bought one of these to zip around locally in our community. I haven’t even taken my first ride and I hate it already. I had a very simple scooter that I could flip the switch and it would go. This one requires Bluetooth, pairing it with my phone, and apparently I have to have my phone with me at all times. Additionally, we cannot figure out how to get it to work with my husband‘s phone as well as mine. Therefore, he cannot take the scooter out without taking my phone too. You have to watch a tutorial with tiny pale print before you can use it and it goes through very quickly. I had to take pictures of the instructions to be able to read it. Apparently they don’t actually want you to read it. It’s just to prevent lawsuits. We’re considering returning the whole thing. What a mess.
First time user of an e-scooter. Purchased the Ninebot KickScooter F25 to commute 7 miles to work on city sidewalks and streets. Been using it for about three weeks now and I love it. Comfortable, easy to use, safe and fun! I travel 15 mph much of the way with lots of stop and go crossing intersections and navigating curbs. Love the automatic cruise control and the ease of disengaging it. Breaks are good. I have half charge remaining when I arrive at work or home. Takes a few hours to recharge to 100%. Took me time to adjust to their being an app on my phone and understand the need for it but it isn’t required to operate the vehicle. Now that I understand the app I love that too. Great job Segway!
I just want to ride a scooter and Segway forces me to register my email, and choose a public profile to “connect with other riders”. No way to skip this and just enable the darn scooter. Not interested in connecting to anybody thank you! The privacy settings just have the option of not sharing “distance ridden”. Before you can use the scooter you have to see some pictures with warnings and text in a laughably small font. No clue what it says as it’s unreadable... but I guess watching the pictures qualifies you as “instructed”. Have denied the app access to geolocation since the app doesn’t have the option to not use it I must resort to the os to block it. Will also deny it data access on cell. Wish I could deny it data access on Wi-Fi too. Seriously considering changing to a different scooter brand for getting just a scooter andnot something that wants to also be Facebook friends...
So, I pretty much faithfully update the app for use with a Segway ninebot s. Well, this last update causes it to like stahl out in the middle of riding it and…yes…I fall down every time!!! I can’t even ride it now because your update has made it unsafe!! Somebody either needs to address this or reimburse me for the cost of my ninebot considering your update made it unusable!! UPDATE: paid somebody that knows how to device these and it’s not the ninebot. This app is garbage and I wish I could revert back to the old software prior to the latest update. Can’t ride w/out getting hurt and I have over 800mls on it. I’m a veteran at this point. I’m speaking w/ a lawyer about my injuries to see what can be done. I pay over $500 for a device that your update made unsafe!!! And, not to mention my doctor bills. P.S.- I have video of it happening and of my injuries now!!! Thankyou!!!
This app is really cool. I got both the Segway-Ninebot S and Segway-Ninebot S plus and I can switch between them in the app quite nicely HOWEVER, if my wife and I decide to go riding, only one at a time will be active on the app showing miles and speed. So I have to switch back and forth to change lighting specifications if riding at night. The community is fun on the app. We get points for posting videos, pics and text posts and likes. Hard to understand where everything is and not very intuitive but after a few days you get it. I like the LOCK feature in the app. No one can ride it if locked so kinda a theft deterrent. Could be better but still a 5 star because of the LOCK feature and the overall fun of the app. BUT I should give it a 4 star because I can’t use it fully when I have wife or kids ride with me Maybe a SECOND user app log in for wife and kids using other models at the same time?
This is a pretty nice app where I can lock, register, and change the color of LED lights on my scooter. I can change modes too, as well as browse the scooter social media. Registration takes 5 min and it does ask for information, which I all rejected. The data doesn’t get traced to me either, so I guess it would be fine if the data share was necessary. The scooter was amazing and super easy to ride. I have it for 3 days now and have no complaints. This app deserves more than a 3.1, which made me regret buying the scooter at first. Reading the bad reviews made me quite hesitant.
Took about a half hour just to create a login. Restarted several times, reinstalled, retried some more times, finally it worked. Then connecting to new device—took four tries. Each attempt seemed to get hung up in a different place. For instance one time it said activate device, with a space to enter email address (not sure why, since I had just gotten done creating a login with my email attached)—but the space to enter email was grayed out/inactive and wouldn’t let me select it no matter how I tried. Close out, wait a while, try again. It was like this for about four different steps in the process—multiple attempts required at each point, each time ending with interminable spinning circles, unresponsiveness, or other inexplicable malfunction or nonfunction. It’s like an HP peripheral—beautiful hardware, running on crapware.
This app is completely useless invasion of your privacy it adds zero functionality to the scooter and try’s make a whole ecosystem around there brand (which they bought from Segway) the app has its own currencyN Coin and it has a rating system for you the user all related to its social media and tasks for you to do. None of those features even work well but besides that it doesn’t add any functionality to the scooter it takes It away. This is a shameless app and scooter product stay away. The scooter hardware itself could of potentially been good but tying it to this app or any app makes it useless I’m returning my scooter and uninstalling this app right now. I’m so disappointed in this product and company I hope they improve in the future.
This app is so great to be able to see all of my specs and data about my Segway. I don’t always have my phone on me. I’m wondering if there could be an app for the Apple Watch. I was thinking that it could just have the main controls and access to edit your account. It would be cool if it could also have the ability to record a trip. It would probably not have any of the social media stuff, but just enough abilities to be able to connect to your Segway without a phone.
The product itself is sa-weet. This review is for the app alone. The app is not good. It tracks mileage and and other basics but even then if you close the app out, it might stop tracking. There is so much potential for this to embrace the community aspect that Segway apparently doesn’t want to embrace which is too bad I think. For me, a huge part of the fun of owning my scoot scoot is being unique, showcasing my sick jumps, and getting reactions from passers by as I rock out to Darius Rucker’s angelic voice singing “Hold My Hand.” Plus, it would be so awesome to easily connect with others, track trips, challenges, create stories to share, etc. I love my scooter but I don’t love the app. I want more from it and I’d like to work with Segway to assist with the redesign if they’ll let me.
This bran new Segway-Ninebot pro mini Christmas present open right out the box and it does nothing the light in the charger turns green when plugged in and stays green when plugged in the lights on product do nothing I’ve tried holding the button in and everything I could think of taping it multiple time different sequences and everything and nothing read up on it last night and some take the battery off and some say not to their is stickers on both side or it with 4 Allen head bolts and stickers say if broken void warranty so what the heck am I supposed to do now bc support has been no help left messages not contact back really frustrating
Don’t get me wrong I love riding my segway (when I can) I have over 800km that I rode on it. I consider my self an expert rider. But when this expert rider has an issue don’t ask support or trust the app. Whatever you do for the love of god don’t update the app or firmware. If it works for you don’t change anything that isn’t an in app feature like changing lights. Right now you can’t even complete new rider tutorial without a Bluetooth controller. Mine after resetting it has the controller in a box in my storage unit. Not even sure why it’s required for a new rider tutorial if I never use the feature. Ever. If it wasn’t for the crappy interface and controlling app. I would rate this 5 stars
A lot of app bugs and no one is ever available to help.
I’ve tried to use the contact us feature several times over several days and no one ever gets back to me. I also have to turn off kickstand and seat detection in the app in order for me to be able to use my Segway C80. The app also does not record my rides so I do not have a riding record and am unable to get daily reports. This app is awful and it makes me want to return my new Segway because it’s hard to get it to function properly due to all of the app problems. Also, the app continually says I am not in an area with a good signal. That never changes. They need to create a new app because there are wayyyy to many bugs in this one.
The UI for this app is so unintuitive. I tracked my first ride and had to google how to add additional rides. Clicking the black pin that’s in the background?? When you do track your ride there’s about a 50% chance it will actually track the whole thing instead of randomly quitting or disconnecting. My girlfriend and 3 of our friends all used to track our rides and compete to see who had the most mileage but we have all given up now. The speedometer tells me i’m going 16 MPH sometimes. it’s usually about 5-6 MPH faster than what i’m actually traveling. It’s like they took the old app and just made a bad version of it. Only thing this is good for is checking your battery and turning your light on.
This is ridiculous. It won’t let me unlock my kids hover board from “safe mode” because the app stupid safety video doesn’t work. I had my kid walk through the stupid instructions multiple times only to not recognize the last step which is to step off the hover board. Because of this it’s locked in “safe mode.” It’s also stuck in km/hr and cannot change to mph. I’m about to return this thing. Make a decent product and take a big Cr@p with a app that handicaps your product. They would far ahead to not even offer an app. Do they not test the software or read user feedback. Literally almost everyone is complaining about the app. Sad.
I highly recommend the Segway-Ninebot S+. It’s an excellent product!!! In order to fully use YOUR segway the app wants you to view a bunch of dumb videos and upload your use information. Until you do, it operates in a diminished capability. Stupid app ! Don’t link it to your machine!!!!! That said….The Segway-Ninebot S plus is FANTASTIC!!! It does everything advertised. I have been using it almost daily at work with no problems and it has proven to be trouble free. I have recommended it to a number of people. Also, unlike “hover boards”, this Segway is approved for airline air travel when used as a mobility device for handicapped people. In fact there is a “Mobility Device” sticker on the bottom. It is eligible for both checked baggage and in cabin storage.
I like the GP Scooter. unlike other posts I see here I understand the difference between kilometers and miles per hour. I agree, I would like to have more speed on demand at certain times. These machines are built well I’m not too worried about running out of juice or the machine breaking down. I’ve taken the scooter all over the big cities in the middle of the country and it has not yet let me down.
There are so many bugs that it’s impossible to even count them all, but one of the major ones is that your device is hobbled by beginner mode, speed limitations, because the app doesn’t ever think you have completed the training modules, forcing you to redo them several times in order to get things to work normally. There are very few instructions or videos to understand what all of the beeping and noises mean needs a native English speaker to review for correct usage also since it was obviously not written by a native speaker.
This scooter is the best form of transportation when you’re in walking distance of your destination; instead of starting you’re car and waiting for it to warm up, you can simply start your scooter and get there in no time. As for the app, it’s pretty simple and has great features like guard mode, perfect for having to leave you’re scooter outside of stores. Highly recommend.
Met my high expectations! The app just like the scooter is constantly being updated with improvements. Most problems appear to be user error try to educate yourself by reading user manual and other available resources before posting complaints. I doing work for Segway by negative people annoy me. You're adults learn to figure things out on your own. That's why you have a brain. Use it!
I tried to bind my email and phone number many times and the app would not let me get logged in. After binding, I set the login password and then it says the login session has expired and I have to log in again. The scooter won’t go as fast as it is capable of going without registering with this app. I finally got registered after 20 or so attempts over multiple days. A few weeks later the scooter went back to default mode which stops it from going more than 15km. That is a lot slower than advertised.
I was forced to download this app so that I could use the scooter without it constantly beeping. Besides that if you want to be able to use your scooter’s advertised speed that you must have the app. And to top it all of, if you want to do something as simple as change the units from kilometers to miles, then guess what, you must download the app. After downloading prepare to accept whatever “privacy” policies they throw at you. The app will then ask to track your precise location, etc. Welcome to the Facebook of scooters, except this time you paid hundreds of dollars to be the product.
After updating the app, I was completely logged out and when I finally was able to log back in, all my previous mileage was gone/erased. The worst thing is that the lock icon is completely gone! I thought it must be an error or me so I logged out, reset everything and logged back in and bound the scooter and the lock icon is still gone. Without that, there is little the app is good for since most can be done via the actual scooter monitors Please bring back the icon ability/icon!
The app sometimes refuses to connect to my scooter, but overall a well-designed app. I do not understand the process with signing in, because there is no reason to sign into your scooter app. Also, the lock feature can come in handy, but a thief can pick up the scooter and wait for the battery to drain, then it’ll be unlocked when it charges, if the thief has a charger. Overall, GREAT scooter! Love it!
GPS map is correct, but given address is wrong. This is OK if it’s at my house because I know how this area looks on a map, but if it’s in another town or city, it would be a struggle to find the exact location. App usually closes out of whatever tab/ page you’re in for no reason. Should be able to connect multiple devices. I bought an eMoped for my son, but I like to use it from time to time. I created a profile for myself, but he wants to be able to track his own activity. This is really lazily done. Get it together, Segway/ Ninebot.
It might be a good scooter but the app restricts it from being one. The scooter goes half the advertised distance on a single charge and my flat surface speed is only 16 kph and only when it’s fully charged. I weigh 180. It took much longer than it needed to in order to set up the app. The app asks irrelevant questions and insists that you input information that has nothing to do with riding a scooter. The app would not allow me to get out of Eco mode until I completed the set up of the app, but it kept losing connectivity and it was frustrating. I’m going to return the scooter.
Fix app so you can controL LEDs and why did cruise control stop working?
Since the app and firmware updates my headlight cripples the scooter, brake lights flickering and throttle acts like a car running on fumes, a weak sputter every so often in between much longer moments of acting like it’s dying. Still can’t control LEDs on this app and have to log out to revert to the old US version to control LEDs. Also the cruise control works maybe 2% of the time since update. It used to work flawlessly on all accounts but now the apps and firmware have turned my excellent scooter into a scary deathtrap that I can use in the day very carefully if I am feeling brave and lucky.
Pretty nice app but extremely frustrating that on the scooter dashboard it keeps changing back to kph when I put it for mph or emperial system. Also the app always has connection problems with the device and a lot of times the digital buttons don’t respond or change anything. I usually have to check 3 or 4 times just to make sure different functions are on or off. Lightning effects are really beautiful though and I appreciate it.
Back metal piece over tire broke off and lights no work
I have bought this scooter and after 30 days metal piece falls off that is on back tire. My friend has same scooter and same problems so I call to get it warranty fixed and they want me to ship it out and then I’m stuck with no transportation for work. They should atleast sent a new scooter and took back the lemons. Not leave me with nothing to go to work with
I installed this app just this morning and boy did it do a world of wonders. The firmware on my old Max g30 was updated while I crossed my fingers, having read all these negative reviews. Contrary to all the nay sayers I have to take my hat off to the developers. Good F_____g job!!! This app works seamlessly on my 14 pro. As for the scoot….well it seems to be on ninebot steroids or something. The acceleration is absolutely breathtaking. This scoot never had this kind of power before. It’s amazing. Thanks again to the developers. You deserve some applause from this user 👏👏👏
Cannot believe how good these are for everyday use! I ride it about 19miles a day and sure beats sitting in traffic! I love how fast it goes as well as how convenient it is to use. Only thing I wish was different was that there was better headlight(s) and maybe even an option for lower or brighter lights
The app is super user unfriendly. It says I have to watch some kind of safety video that won’t load in order to get it up to full speed. He tells me there’s things that I can do but then doesn’t direct me on how in the world I’m supposed to do that or where to go. The product seems to be superior quality though. Hopefully they will fix the software soon having Bluetooth connection issues. Try to update and it got this disrupted and now I can’t find how to update it again.
IMPORTANT: social accounts do not work on this app. You can not use Sign in with Apple, Google, etc. you must use email-username/password to get the app to consistently work and activate your scooter. I work in identity for a large tech company. The app can not establish a user session with a federated IDP. They’re likely using a deprecated OAuth library. It’s broken and they don’t seem to want to update it. So you can get it to work with this known restraint.
The app won’t stay connected, like everyone says. Disappointed this is still an issue after complaints. It isn’t the most user friendly app either. Now for the good stuff… The record your ride is great!! I love the dashboard set up, wish it would stay connected with my Bluetooth. The app does have a lot of good info on it as well. It has a user section for questions and answers.
I was gifted a Segway scooter and have had it two years but as of today I do not have one. The app says it tracks where your ride etc. but that’s not the case. I have used the lock on the app but it is not reliable as well. If you are slightly away or distant from your scooter it will disconnect and allow other to get into your vehicle without any notification. The customer service is delayed and you have to constantly open the app.
I love my upgraded Mini Pro, but have a hard time navigating this app! I would love to use this app, but so far all its god for is changing the colors of the lights on my Mini Pro... Come on Segway, this seems strange considering how long your product has been around now!? Please fix this app seeing that every single review is a bad one with one exception, that one good review that just says they love their Segway... Probably an employee... Lol! Update your app & the firmware! It only makes sense!!!
So few things work well in this app. It’s a huge letdown, considering the price of the scooters it interfaces with. 1. Trip tracking rarely works at all, so don’t even *think* about keeping track of keeping track of how far your scooter has gone. As an odometer it’s a colossal fail. 2. The ‘remaining range’ is wildly optimistic. Even at reduced speed on a very flat course with very few stops, I’ve never gotten more than 18 miles on a charge. (15 is more like it.) But maybe I just got a bad scooter. 3. I didn’t buy a scooter so I could take ‘scooter selfies’ or turn myself into a scooter-media influencer. I bought it to get around, and the whole ‘community’ side of the app does nothing that I need. A working odometer and a realistic ‘range remaining’ are all I need. But this app falls far short.
I bought a ninebot Segway max scooter today at Costco and was so excited about it. First I downloaded the app and then I opened the box and followed the instructions. The app would not even load the tutorial video for me to watch and keep saying connection issues. Then it said it had a firmware update, this always would not complete. I contacted customer service by the app and phone, did not get to speak to anyone. Didn’t even get to ride the scooter. Within three hours I returned it to Costco.
The app doesn’t track my any of my trips. It disconnects from the scooter randomly even when my iPhone is strapped to the scooter and not in my pocket. The login doesn’t recognize my login each day. All the useful controls (cruise control, pedestrian mode) are now hidden away and takes many taps to get to. The interface doesn’t make any sense and the tutorial doesn’t help. The app is not essential to use the scooter, but it’s the only interface to the scooter so If this is important to you I wouldn’t recommend getting anything from Segway-Ninebot.
