Semantle: Daily Word Game

I have played wordle (and quordle and octordle) but they do not use your brain in the same way that Semantle does. In Semantle you are exploring ideas and language and then really working on your vocabulary and word association as you get closer to the daily word. Sometimes I find the word in 30 or 40 words and other times it’s more like hundreds. If I finish quickly but still want more play time I’ll go back and try to guess the top 10 words. This is the app that should get promoted as good for your brain, it is surely superior to word searches and anagramming games for making you think!

I am having so much fun with this game. It is a great challenge and keeps me very entertained. My only wish is that we could see our guesses in numerical order as well as how we currently see them by similarity. Once the word is guessed, it would be fun to go back and see the path that we took to get there.

I am a sucker for word games and I’m pretty good at them. I always get Queen Bee and Wordle. I solve this game about half the time. It’s supposed to be a context based game but sometimes the context doesn’t make much sense. Today’s word was Alike; some of the closest words were legions, spellbind, clamored, roomful, both, universally. Frankly, I don’t see much relational context among any of these words. No wonder I didn’t get it. So I think the algorithm needs work.

I play this game every morning and find it very challenging compared to other word games. It feels great when I see the 100% pop up and know I’ve finally figured out the word! If you want a game that will make you think….this is the one:)

This is really fun. I got the word in 12 tries on my first time. My friend tells me that I can’t play again until 5 PM? You should make it so you could play again if you get the word and enable people to play about 20 times per day

I don’t ever do reviews for games and such. This game was/is worth writing a review for. This game is addicting. I am currently on a 13 game winning streak. At first I was having hard time. And then I got a system worked out and now I am in a rhythm. The game is absolutely awesome. It worth the download.

Love the game, however, we play with multiple people and are disappointed that on several occasions we have different daily words….. why is this??????

Had a great first couple, really enjoyed the game with family but on day 4-today I haven’t been able to play, it’s glitchy and will not type, crashes and I can’t play anything nowhere to ask for help without divulging my email… sad hope it comes back soon.

I like this game, but my correct word is often different than other people’s words. Yesterday I solved it, but today on the screen that says “Yesterday’s word”, is a completely different word. Today I guessed and compared answers and my word was different again!

I loved wordle but it was getting to fast and easy to solve. A friend introduced me to Semantle and I just love it. Kind of forces one to think globally or just out of the box. Best game for those who love words!

I love this game play it daily regular and junior versions however the app insane as good as online there’s discrepancies and weaker hints on the app sometimes I play online and then plug in the word on the app! There’s a big difference in the hints revealed and the graphics

Been playing on the site for a while. Very fun game. Well executed and designed. No gimmicks, no micropayments. Thank you for making this.

My friends and I were enjoying this app for a few weeks and then it just randomly stopped working. Not sure why exactly. Tried rebooting my phone, reinstalling. Now I type in a word and click guess… nothing. Doesn’t even acknowledge it. Hopefully it can be fixed in an update soon. Meanwhile I’m deleting the app and moving on.

The hints in the app do not work properly. On the web version, if you ask for a hint it always gives you a better guess than your best. I asked for numerous hints in this app and it gives me worse guesses than I already had every time. Additionally, the app requires you watch way more and longer ads in order to get a hint.

Best word game out there. Win or lose, truly gets my mind operating on all cylinders, all day long. Simply love this simple yet complicate game. Five stars

Great exercise for the brain! Also fun to share solving with someone. App is really easy to use and the game stretches your mental muscles. I wish I could give more stars because this app says it doesn’t track any personal information. Hard to find these days. Thanks for a great game and a pleasant experience.

Loved the app until it stopped working. It now doesn’t take my entries. Upgraded iOS, reinstalled app still having problems.

The app stopped working a couple days ago. Have updated the phone, deleted the app, reinstalled, and it still will not recognize any guesses. Several others have complained about this. Don’t know what’s going on. Worked ok before that.

This game was introduced by a friend! It is great, but it needs to be like the website version. I needed a hint or two…. or three. Give a “hint” link. Just saying…

It’s a great word-guessing game based not on spelling but on semantics/connotations instead. PS, I found that when you input ‘party’ it shoots confetti!

I enjoy playing with friends in team mode. I guess I will be sticking with the browser interface.

Normally play Semantle on Safari through the website Semantle.com. But it seems to freeze up on giving hints; says it gave one but none are given. Same thing when accessing the page through Google or directly via chrome. On an up to date iPhone. Not a WiFi/router issue rebooting does not help. It seems the hints on the web version are disabled once one or more scores above 990 are made. [I got a hint of 3/1000 on chrome, then put I scores from 988 to 981 (below) and some lower and was given a hint of 991. The put in scores scores from 998 to 990 (below) and the hints died.] Downloaded app and put in scoring answers from Safari. 998, 997, 994, ????, 993, 990, 989, 988, 986, ????, ????, 985, 981 plus many lower scores. App gave hints, none above 929, and most <700. First one was 127. Many are “dead ends”; no synonyms or related words like dynamometer, Varistor. (Definitely seems the hint choice is designed to maximize the number of ads that need to be viewed; least helpful hints given, without making it too obvious i.e. starting from 1/1000 and working upwards.) The app gave several hints where the hint given was lower scoring than not only most previous scores but also lower than at least one previous hint. App does not seem to have a quit/ I can’t solve, give me the answer button. App does not give a “tepid” ranking like the web game, just says far. Over all, the web game is better, when the hints works. And even when they don’t, launching a separate browser to access the game and putting in high scores, but less than 990, would be a better option than playing on the app.
