Very good

This app is very nice and helpful when I’m tuning my violin. You can also tune cello and viola which I think is cool. And if you’re a beginner it will tell you if you need to tighten or loosen the string, the only reason I did not get this app a five star rating is because I think it is annoying that you have to tap a different button for each string. For example, on the violin there’s an E,A,D, and G string so every time I try to tune a different string I will have to put my violin down and push the button, which is time consuming, but overall the great app it’s perfect for traveling if you forgot your tuner , so that’s why I gave it four stars

Wonderful app!

I am a strings teacher at a private school and I love that I can share this app with parents! One of the biggest challenges we have as strings teachers in a school setting is how to help parents and students tune their instruments at home. More conventional tuners show the pitch, but students and parents who are new to stringed instruments cannot recognize when a string is more than one whole tone (or even a half tone) out of tune, let alone in what direction (flat or sharp) so those tuners are useless if the person tuning does not know when the string in question needs to be adjusted up or down to go to the right pitch, specifically the right pitch IN THE RIGHT OCTAVE. Simply Tuner does this very clearly visually, and by locking into the specific string also avoids the issue of going to the wrong octave. This app gets five starts from me and all the parents I’ve shared it with!

This Helps A Lot!!!

During this Pandemic, you can’t really go to go to your teacher or person who normally tunes your violin/viola/cello. Me who’s WAS in this situation downloaded this app and this really helps!!! If I need to tune my violin this app is always there (unless my phone died). Sadly this doesn’t work with Bass/Double Bass, so Simply Tuner, please add a Bass/Double Bass for those string players. This also helps with beginners for now and also gives them tuning experience and they can use this when ever who normally does it for them isn’t around. The other downside is that you will want to rely on it too much because what if your phone/iPad died and that person who tunes your instrument isn’t around, then that’s a problem. But ending in a high note, this really helps you!!! 😁

Broke my E String

I needed to tune my violin, and as I was unsure how to do this myself, I decided to download an app to help me. This app seemed decent, it looked nice and had good reviews, so I took a chance on this one. It can’t be too hard to get tuning a violin right, can it? I opened the app, and got to tuning. Tuning the a string went just fine, and I moved on to my e string. I got it pretty tight, but it still said my e string pitch was very low, and that I should keep tightening the string. As I’m no expert on tuning violins, I decided to trust the app. I go to tighten a bit more, then snap! My string breaks. The strings were in good shape as I had just bought my violin new, so the string did not break because it was worn and was gonna break sometime soon. It broke because I was told to keep tightening it, when apparently it had already reached a good tension. Now I’m out a fair amount of money as I will have to buy a new string or strings. That’s why I’m giving this app 1 star.

Perfect😍

I’m in the eighth grade and last year was my 5th year playing the violin and I did virtual learning for school, so that also meant I took virtual violin class. Normally before COVID happened my Violin teacher would tune my violin for me, but since I played the violin virtually I didn’t have him in person so I had to find a way to tune my violin at home. And I couldn’t have asked my parents because they would have broken it. So my violin instructor told me about this app and it is literally amazing I play the violin everyday and this app makes it so much more easier than calling my violin instructor so that he sit on FaceTime with me for at least a good 15-25 minutes just to tune my violin.

Using this app is enjoyable - it gets the job done and makes it fun and easy, even for me as a total newcomer to string instruments. User tip for Violin: we’ve found that tuning goes *immensely* faster and is done way more accurately IF: we play each open string with the bow (instead of plucking the string). We started out with plucking and that worked alright. But it was inconsistent. Switching to playing the open string with the bow, we can tune in about 1/4 of the time and it seems more accurate, too 🙌 Our thanks to the developer - great app and we are grateful to have it!!

THIS IS AMAZING

So I don’t have a tuner but I downloaded this app and my violin is perfectly in tune because the strings were all out but since I use this app it has been in tune and I can really start playing more and I’ve actually gotten pretty good at the violin so thank you so much BUT with my A string it does sound a little bit of tune and every time I try to use the app it says that it’s in tune but when my friend goes to tune it for fun its not tune in actually a slight high and she is professional violin tuner a I just can’t see her all the time because of quarantine but overall it’s really good and I recommend this app

Went past my expectations, worked very well!

I’m a beginner violist, and I needed to play a song for a homework assignment that was due tomorrow. Unfortunately my entire viola was out of tune, my A string sounded more like a demonic cry than a musical note. Downloading this app was a last resort for me at first, other apps I tried were crappy and left my viola ruined after using them. However, when I tried simply tuner, it tuned my instrument without problems! Instructions very clear, really came in handy and I’ll probably tell my teacher to recommend the app.

It’s Pretty Good!

I wrote another review before this and I was really mad when I wrote it because there was a glitch and a couple other things but I’m so sorry. It’s a really good tuner app. It’s super easy to use, too. I recommend getting it. I was also mad because I don’t like being called a begginer. I workee hard on my violin 🎻. If you’re reading this, don’t let what other people say bring you down. It only matters what you think, not what other people think. Bring your self up into the clouds! There’s no limit! Recommend this for beginners

I’m a beginner in playing my violin and my teacher always tuned my violin. Since the whole pandemic happened I was never able to learn how to tune I tried but I couldn’t. I then found out my teacher left my school and I had to figure out how to tune my violin. I can across this app and decided to try it out. I found this really helpful and I’ve been using this app for at least 3 months already. I really recommend this to people who are beginners in playing the violin and for the people who don’t know how to tune.

Great but I wish they had every note

I love the app and it usually puts me in tune perfectly or at lest close to perfect but I wish it had all the notes you can play. That way I could know if I were playing in tune or that if I were out of tune it would tell me what note I am playing instead since now it just says to high or to low and not like you’re in a b instead of an a. But otherwise it’s a good app

Works pretty well

I looked at a lot of reviews that said they broke there strings using this. It is a little slow I had to wait for about 15 seconds for it to load but, it works well I hit my Violin weird and got the D string way out of tune but now it is in perfect tune! I think the people who broke there strings weren’t patient enough if you look at the little blue bar tighten the strings then pluck it and wait it will load and you can get your whole instrument in perfect tune!

This app is amazing

I wondered why the rating was 4.2 stars so I looked at the reviews, and a LOT of them said that tuning was all over the place and their string broke! I don’t know if it was user error or a bug, but if it was a bug they most definitely fixed it. This app is great and keeps my violin perfectly in tune. I highly recommend it, and I’m pretty sure it was either a bug from a long time ago. Edit: it works perfect on my iPad, but was really glitchy on my phone. Not sure why.

Best tuner app for violin

Love it! Check it out if you don’t have a tuner, if you want to train your ear or perhaps like me could not find a regular tuner that was great for violin that I liked. The only downside is if you have a sacrilegious 5 string violin there is no C string. Not a true violin anyways so not really a problem. You can always tune the C string off of the G string once it is tuned. I have both a 5 and 4 string, either way it is a great app! I especially like that the tuning sound is not the annoying classic beep on handheld digital tuners.

Simple, but awesome 😎

I use this everyday to tune my violin before violin class! It’s simple and easy to use, but definitely worth getting! I recommend this to any beginner violinist or anyone who simply wants to tune their instrument. Plus, it’s free to install, so you don’t need to spend money. I have tried various tools in the past, but this is the simplest and most accurate that I could find without it costing money. Oh and for anyone actually reading his, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECTION! so practice right now 🎻

Can’t make up its mind

For the first three strings this tuner worked alright, however when I arrived at the G string, the app up and had a stroke. I would tune the string, I would be told “perfect” and move on. However after letting the thing reset and playing the same string again, which had obviously not changed pitch in the slightest I would be greeted with “very low” or “very high”. Mind between these tunings I did not play the violin or wait any amount of time. Each of these was taken within 5 or six seconds of one another, after making sure the pegs were tight and secure. Infuriating! It could be good, but right now it isn’t cutting it.

Amazing app, clean interface, Ad free

I just got my violin today and I’ve had a few problems getting it into tune, but I found this app, and it’s amazing, a really clean interface and I haven’t gotten any ads yet. My violin just has some problems (the tuning paddles or whatever won’t stay in place and keep letting out tension) and I haven’t been able to use this app to its full potential.

Simple tuner

It ls so awesome because when ever you need to Tun your Violin you just play the Note and there’s a bar that has a line that you can look at and when you play the note it will tell you to Tighten itIf it’s low it will tell you to loosen it if it’s really highBut when it’s perfect they were just goes directly to the middle and that means that your note is tuned and you don’t have to worry about it that’s why I love simple tuner go check it out

Last time when I first got the app I was calmly tuning and then... d strong go SNAP... I was very surprised and sad because I am a young and in learning cello player... I wish this doesn’t happen again and also the room I was in was pretty silent to and I’m trying it again and now I’m outside next to my house and lotta sounds and it almost made my a strong nap bc I felt straining and lotta pull. This might be bc the background sounds so I’ll blame myself for this one I will never tune my cello by myself without my Beethoven sister or just wait till I get tuning classes

Has to be the best tuning app. You can even use it offline not also that I thought the app’s microphone had a problem (turns out it’s was mine) but they were petty quick to respond when I wrote them a feedback. I hope they don’t ever change the app or have a VIP subscription because I would hate that and I’m broke so… Anyways great app!!! Never cheating on this app with another:))

good visuals, accurate tuning could use improvement.

The visual aspect of this app is great. However, I find tuning on this app to be a little difficult. when you change your peg to match the center part of the in-tune meter. it doesn’t register the difference every time so you have to press different string buttons go back to the original string you were tuning and try it again.

I wish that it was better for cellos

I am a cellist, and I like this tuner, but I wish it wasn’t completely geared to violins. It sometimes will glitch out and put me on viola or violin when I try to use cello. It has happened enough to be pretty annoying. But it is accurate in tuning, which some “tuners” aren’t. So it does deserve the 4/5 stars in my eyes for what I use it for and what i have seen

Awesome!

I’m currently just starting orchestra and I can’t go to my teacher every time so I started looking for a turning app for viola. I found a lot that were in the middle to horrible but when I got this ons it was perfect and does not only viola. It does violin and Chelllo too! I’m not sure if anyone will actually get to read this but trust me this is the best app for you.

Amazing app recommend for beginners!

I am a beginner violin player and usually have my teacher tune my violin but with this Covid-19 going around my violin hasn’t been sounding pretty. I still wanted to play my violin tuned so I looked for something like this app! It’s simple enough for a beginner to understand but it’s really accurate! Overal I have no complaints and the person reading this should really try this app out!

Great App!!

This app is amazing! I love how all I have to do is tap a button and it lets me know if my cello is in tune. And if it isn’t, it lets me know if it’s too low or high. I think this app is so easy to use and very helpful. If you are reading this before you get the app, I would recommend you get it! Trust me, it will make things easier for you.

Simply Tuner

I play violin and I swear by this app. Its a absolute game changer for performances and solos. It’s extremely accurate and I’m the type of person who’s usually very cautious about tuning apps because they can make or break the practice or performance. But if your looking at this review wondering if you should download I promise you will never regret it.

Great except for one thing

I love this app! It tells you exactly how high or low the sound is! The only thing that is bothersome to me is that the app doesn’t automatically sense which string you’re playing- the user needs to lean down and select it. Overall, I highly suggest this app for anyone who wants to accurately tune their instrument. Just a little feedback for the developers.

Works the first day but…

On the first day I downloaded this it worked fine and my instrument sounded fine and had the correct sound, but then the next day I decided to practice so I needed to tune my instrument. I had finished with all the rest and was on my last string to tune but it kept telling me I was to high so I loosened my A string but it still said that it was to high so I kept loosening until my A string came off, and sense I only just started playing the viola I have to have my teacher fix it.

used to be all 5, but now a 4

So it's a 4 now because everything was working amazingly, but the c tuner isnt working the mark stays in the same spot after chaing the pitch (higher/lower) and i continued loosening it until it broke because the app wasnt working right. Could you fix this issue please? everything else is amazing tho good work

Cheap Alternative for a Snark

About all of my classmates have bought a clip-on tuner that costed $20-35, and I’m one of the only ones who chose to download a tuner :0 My parents don’t have the time to buy a tuner but I have the time to download an app! Anyways this is great, completely functional, free, and I can also tune my friend’s viola. This is a great alternative, and I would definitely recommend it!

Actually Works on my cello

This app is good for tuning my cello because I tuned it on here then used a real tuner and they both said the same thing. The only downside with the app is that you have to tap the strings that you are going to play, which can be a little bit annoying, but overall good job.

100% Useful

I’ve been playing the violin for about 7 years and I’ve always had issues with tuning it because I was scared of breaking any strings. This app tells me exactly what I need to do to tune each string.. FOR THE LEARNERS THAT USE DO RE MI FA SO LA SI DO this app uses letters (like most english apps) but it also shows which string it is so it will not be confusing. Good luck!

Please please please invest in a real tuner!

Online tuning apps are ok but if you feel like a string is going to snap or something is going to break stop twisting and go the other way! I was using this app and being a fairly new violinist I was tuning the E string and it seemed to be going to high. I didn’t listen to my gut feeling and the string snapped. Although violin strings are not super expensive please take the 5-20 dollars to buy a real tuner. They are much more accurate and there is less chance of string snapping. I hope this was of help to anyone who read this.

Please fix

I tried to tune a viola, and it would say that my g string was really high, then low, then perfect, then high, then slightly high, then lower and the entire time I didn’t touch the pegs or fine tuners. Same thing with my d string. I used it to tune my a string too, and it worked fine, but after having issues with the other strings I rechecked it, and it said it was extremely low, even though it said it was perfect not five minutes ago. It might just be a glitch but it’s REALLY annoying. Please, please, PLEASE fix this

Good until…

This app worked well for all of my strings, and they were sounding really nice. But then I got to the E string, and the app told me to tighten it more. So I did, and of course, it snapped. I read a review before downloading this app about the same situation, but it happened anyways. I still think this app is very good, just incorrect perhaps in terms of tuning the E string. This was also my first time tuning a violin, so of course my inexperience could have contributed to the sad end result as well.

Amazing but…

This is such an easy tuning app! I definitely would recommend it! One thing is that if I had a base I would not be able to tune it with this app. Your only able to tune violins, violas, and cellos. If any developers are reading this you should add in more instruments to tune!

I play the violin at school and our teacher has us tuning by listening to another player and I am TERRIBLE at that but luckily my teacher lets us use a tuner if we have one!! THIS APP SAVED MY GRADE!! I am soo grateful!! such a wonderful app I love how you don’t have to pay to use which is also another factor I enjoy! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR VIOLAS AND VIOLINS!!!

Broke my D and E string

As a student in strings my teacher said to get a tuner app for a violin. I decided to get this one because it looked nice and decent. But I didn’t expect it to be hard. As I started to tune my strings it kept switching between very low and very high. Once I got it to the perfect pitch it said the pitch was too low all of the sudden. And I tried to pitch my G string and it kept switching between too low and too high. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this app

My violin constantly slips out of tune and my pitch pipe was making everything sound off. Turns out my pitch pipe was off. This app definitely helped out. I will say that it’s a bit hard to tell how much you need to turn your pegs, and so I did accidentally snap my E string. However, other than that I’d say it works!

Quick and easy!

My wife is the violinist and normally helps our children with their tuning. When she was out of town the task is one of great frustration! Within minutes of downloading the app I was able to tune perfectly!

Best Tuner I’ve Ever Had

This tuner is very good and would highly recommend! I love how it is so simple and easy to navigate. It does not have any in app purchases like so many other tuners I found. I appreciate the simplicity of the app and its accuracy. I have never bought another tuner since I found this. A total life changer!

BEST TUNER!!

I use this tuner almost every day to tune my violin and it works great!!!! I used to have to wait until my lesson for my teacher to tune it so this really helps. Almost every other tuner is hard to use, glitches or you have to pay for it. 100% recommended! 🫶

Well did like a lot of users and broke a string, yep sure did. But that was before reading the instruction on the lower end of the page. However the others strings were right on. Recommend to some where within the app select or create an instruction button.

Nice for beginners!

The app is really easy to use, but what bugs me is you have to click the string your tuning to tune it. The tuning is accurate and it gives the sound first which is generous if you ask me. In my opinion this app is great

Very Accurate

I got this app when I was on a trip and forgot my tuner and this did the same job as a physical one and it’s accuracy is really good. I still use this as my main tuner because it’s more convenient to use this an a physical one.

Very efficient and effective

I just got this app for my Violin. Tuning my violin has never been so easy. Takes two minutes and there so many different strategies to tune. If you are beginner, you will find this app to be very very helpful. Would recommend to anyone who is playing a Cello, Viola, or Violin.
