Just what I was looking for!

Scans are not processing correctly

I saw this app advertised a month or two back and I was curious to try it out against Evernote or Expensify. I initially like the scan feature and it’s ability to cut and make make clean copies of the receipts or documents I was scanning. However after a few times I started to notice inconsistencies and errors. Several of my scanned documents were scanning blurry, and automatically coming up with the wrong business name, date, etc. A scan for let’s say Starbucks Coffee would display as “spectrum” with a bogus date. So I found myself having to manually adjust the error. Additionally the scans were coming out blurry for documents or not always auto cropping on large receipts. Additionally the app doesn’t appear to save this info to the cloud so I’m concerned my info won’t back up and be saved if I lose my phone. Additionally it would be nice to have a way to sun group receipts or categories based on store/practitioner/topic/etc. rather than by year. I also find that the document size for scanning is difficult to collect when trying to take photos. The emailing of receipts and not stop email confirmations and having to manually enter in the info for the receipts is also annoying. Apple app receipts were not scanning as the vendor and only appearing as apple. Super annoying. Otherwise I like the app and hope they can make some improvements to make this more function-able.

App is great, pricing scheme not so much

So far I've done the week trial and have enjoyed the app and how it mostly works. I think I've only had one receipt that didn't populate the info but I think that was because it was an old and faded one. The email function has worked decently as well, just have to remember to get the right email. The few things that I didn't like, and the reason why I'm only giving it 4 stars are: 1) the app doesn't seem to always save the settings. I think I've gone through the "set up account" thing like 4 times and it's still coming up. 2) the pricing scheme. In the app there's two choices, base and business. Simple enough, right? Well you'd think so but if you look in your subscriptions or even in the app on the app store, there's at least 8 different options, with no explanation about what they do. If they're old options, they probably shouldn't be shown let alone be able to pick them. Other than that, the app is great.

Love this App!!

I can't believe how well the scanning feature works. Every single receipt I've scanned has imported the merchant and date correctly. Only twice have I had to make a minor modification to the dollar amount, and this was likely to a wrinkled receipt. I'm in awe of how well the OCR works - which makes this app a pleasure to use. It's also easy to change the category of a filed receipt at a later date. The export option is well worth the price as you have an option to export date ranges with or without receipt images. Lovely. ----Only suggestions would be an option to import or download into the iOS Files app and import directly into iOS Numbers vs email link. Also adding more icon options would be useful. Specifically more types of buildings and folder colors/designs. I very very rarely write reviews. This is a Great app!!

Best app & customer service

This app is the best app I have found for receipts! It has great customer service and I love the fact that you pay what’s fair. I’m going through tough times and this allowed me to still do what I needed without spending a ton of money. I asked the customer service team if they could add multi page receipts, and they out of the feature very quickly within a week or so. They asked questions and were very respectful. I’ve seen a lot of growth in the app meaning constant development which I love. The app is easy to use. I like that they are working on features and are willing to put this in the FAQ. That they give you work around if it’s something they don’t currently have. I suggest this to all my friends and family. Thank you all so much for your wonderful app and your friendly customer service.

Where have you been all my life?

I’m going to sound dramatic but this is true… I’ve been looking for an app like this for SO long! I’ve tried so many other apps but they didn’t have the features I needed. I resigned myself to buying a receipt scanner, which is not cheap, and even that didn’t work as well as this little app does. I have to admit that I cringed at the yearly fee but I got to test it out for free for one week and saw how well it works. The fee boils down to about $2/mo AND allows me to get rid of receipt clutter and organize my receipts (and other documents like prescriptions, etc) digitally. It looks like the app creators are pretty responsive as well, if I ever have any issues. I can’t ask for anything more (well, “free” would be nice, but what can ya do?)

Be Wise Get SimplyWise!

I do bookkeeping, business management, and prepare taxes I’m recommending that all my clients get the SimplyWise app. It scans in your receipts and keeps an itemized list of your purchases. Easy to create a series of folders for specific businesses. The superior export to spreadsheet function allows sorting and categorizing all expenses on a monthly and weekly basis. My clients will have more accurate information about net income on an ongoing basis. This will enable them to know their cash flow so they have the capacity to take advantage of investment opportunities with confidence. Extra benefit no boxes or bags of paper to find and sort at tax time! Purchases are categorized and filed at the time of purchase. A win for everyone.

Love the features, but the dollar amount on individual items keeps turning up way wrong

I thought this app was so cool, especially because you could select individual items within receipts and move them to different folders or categories. For example if I bought home goods and personal items, I could select the personal items to go in that folder and the home goods to go in a separate folder. That is amazing. However, the whole concept is ruined because the scanner doesn’t input the amounts of those items correctly. The amount as a whole is correct but it kept getting WAY off when it came to each item within a receipt. Deleted my subscription right away. If they can fix that issue within the app it would be well worth the 24 dollars a year

eReceipts are not working

Need help with the e receipts every time I forward the email it doesn’t work. I went to the app support link on the App Store and it leads me to a web version of the app. No help at all. I think the e receipts should have better instructions in the beginning. It’s very confusing. And I’m begging for the setting to be able to turn off the additional emails I get after I forward an email receipt. It’s way too much clutter. Also would love some folder icons more inclusive to women. Like a cosmetics one and for clothes maybe some dresses instead of a men’s work shirt. Would also be nice to have different colors in each for different family members. But mostly I just want eReceipts to work again. I’m on the seven day trial right now and the fact that I’m already having issues is extremely disheartening because I was very excited.

Absolutely The BEST receipt Keeper

What an outstanding app. I’ve tried a few others whose name I won’t mention that have left me dazed and confused. This app scans your receipts no matter how torn, wrinkled or messed up they are flawlessly and once taught where each item goes does it flawlessly and efficiently. I am able to scan all my receipts from shopping to dining to travel to whatever and bingo! Correctly scanned and placed in the correct finder. I live the running balance of my spending as well as the awesome reports it issues. For a few extra bucks you can even have it linked to your QuickBooks where it flawlessly integrates your receipts. Keep up the great work!!

Keeping me sane!

This app has been a lifesaver! Before I was drowning in paper receipts, and now, whenever I have to look for anything it’s just a matter of a few seconds to find it. My paper piles have shrunk to almost nothing! I started a small business with friends, and we were able to use it to keep ourselves square with spending! I love how intuitive it is reading the receipt and knowing where to categorize it. Of course, it’s always worth checking each item as you scan it because sometimes the receipt is not clear and the information can get picked up incorrectly. But way better than trying to read faded receipt!

SimplyWise is simply great

I’ve only been using this app for a short time, but I’m already finding it indispensable. It saves me a lot of time dealing with paper receipts. I’m able to take a picture upload them and export them so that I have them all in a central location that is easy to find, and I’m able to export the data into my budgeting software program.I’m really looking forward to exploring the new functionality that the developers have put into the program, and I am excited to see what they might do in the future with this app. However, just as it is, it is definitely worth a download and is a huge time saver!

Best App ever

This app is great. I use it for receipts, documents, etc. it is also great for both sides of loyalty cards. Previously I almost always forgot and left it in the car. The pictures of everything are clear, as are the receipts, documents, cards, etc. it is also great for copying business cards, and organizing them; medical, auto, restaurants, etc. Almost forgot, great for copying menus, even multi page. I know I missed a few I use it for now, and more in the future. Best of all, response from customer service is outstanding; which is all to rare these days. Love it but would love to see one thing added

I love that I can put receipts into my phone and file them into folders as soon as I make a purchase or pay a bill. Only one request I would make is if this app would automatically post your recurring expenses each month such as a car payment, or loans that have fixed monthly amounts. I dislike having to add these on every month when they could easily be put on some kind of recurring schedule. It’s really not a big deal but it would surely make this all ultra easy to use. Thanks for this app, I really love it.

disappointed

Some very good aspects EXCEPT scans are blurry when viewed on desktop (but readable) and the big one, email receipts are not added to the folders. they’re only put into an eReceipt report. eReceipts aren’t categorized and no way to edit entries. go back to folders and only ones i’ve scanned are there. i doubt anyone needs a list of emailed receipts—i need those found in email slotted into their categories and added to the year/month/quarter. the OCR functions are excellent, but blurry scans and the email issue; i’m going to have to go with zoho for functionality. I’m disappointed. sounded like exactly what i needed without all the extra functions i don’t. boo. PS also i don’t want to pay a fee to QA your app. this is an obvious function that’s missing with the e-mails.

Simple, Efficient, Quick Works!

I started using this to track business expenses/receipts. The ability to set up folders is simple and to navigate. I love that I can quickly pull up the app after purchasing something and in less than 15 seconds it is logged with all of the information that I need. The only negative that is not really a negative is that you have to pay in order to be able to export in spreadsheet form, but I prefer that to ads. I have not purchased premium but the free functionality is very well executed. Kudos to the develops of the UI.

Not a true trial, you’re charged immediately

I thought I was getting a 7 day trial & am very angry I was charge before the trial period. The app is NOT AT ALL what I expected. Tried to cancel & get a refund & Apple says I’m not eligible for one I wouldn’t be angry if you had not charged me. If you are going to offer a trial at least wait until the trial period is up before charging. I will be posting this on my social media accounts. WOW 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I’m changing my review because once I contacted the developer they were prompt to respond & very understanding and resolved the issue immediately. ALL GOOD‼️

Spectacular image capturing

Has made 30 years of home improvement records very relatively easy. Captures correctly VERY faded receipts from 1994. Amazing. For all its smarts, it does lack one puzzling ability: for some reason it doesn’t recognize dates of receipts— so I have to manually correct each one. (It always puts in today’s date, which is a safe bet since this is probably meant for expense statements reporting). In my case, I’m preparing to use all these receipts to reduce my capital gains taxes by increasing my base. It’s amazing what you spend on a home over 30 years!

Best App Ever!!

This is the best app ever. I like to save all my receipts in case I ever need to return something and to keep track of what I spend. My wallets would get so full of receipts and they would begin to deteriorate after a little while as well. And I would have to search through a ton of receipts to locate which I’m looking for. The receipts are also easy to print out if needed. So I am thankful for finding this app. It has everything imaginable to help keep everything paper free, organized and easy to find!!

I’m so excited about this app!! My daughter said, “MOM, you will love this, you have to get it!”. I AM loving it, and am on a roll plowing through YEARS of built up paper piles that not only clutter my home BUT ALSO MY MIND. I am already feeling relieved and hopeful that this paper mess has been combated once and for all!😎 I can see this saving a lot of grief, time, and MONEY! So many times I’ve returned things to the store, only to get the sale price bcs I cannot find the receipt!! I am planning to throw these receipts away after scanning. Have most of you had luck presenting either a digital or printed receipt to stores for returns? I HAVE A FEW SUGGESTIONS FOR THE DEVS. I would love: 1). Ability to CROP a photo 2). Ability to DARKEN text 3). ENCRYPTED feature to securely store sensitive Docs, ie medical bills 4). I would like assurance knowing I’ll be able to retrieve these downloaded docs if for some reason you discontinue the app

Exactly what I was looking for!

This app gives me exactly what I was looking for. Most receipt scanners are too clumsy and this one categorizes , stores and exports so beautifully for an accounting professional Who can now generate p&ls in a breeze! One suggestion would be to export the receipt images in a single file instead of separate files. If you want to take it one step further, make the receipts searchable within the one big PDF file. That would be amazing! Thanks for all you do and can’t wait to keep using this !

Use to be 5 stars

I have used this app for almost two solid years for both business and personal book keeping. I have rarely ever had any issues but the last few weeks unless I am connected to Wi-Fi every receipt I scan it’s says I am offline and reverts them to my inbox. It really has become annoying, extremely inconvenient to the point where I have over 100 receipts to log and hoping the publishers come out with a update to fix the issue.

Best Receipt Scanner I’ve ever had

I’ve tried multiple receipt scanner app and this is the best one even the free version. Other apps all need to pay for the full functionality, but SimplyWise doesn’t. It gives the free user to upload 10 receipts per month with all functionality like categorizing and exporting reports, and it’s already good enough for me as a light user for personal use. I will definitely buy it if I need it for business use, more than 10 receipts per month.

Wow!

My first praise is for the customer service! I filled out a “help request form” giving my email address and cell number and was contacted probably within 30 min or less. That’s huge in my book! They worked with me to understand what my issues were to a satisfactory conclusion. I love that my husband and I both can easily upload receipts. The scanner does a great job of picking up the needed data. So helpful in looking closely at our spending habits so we can make adjustments.

Almost perfect

This is is very much worth the price. If I had one request it could use to be better at the email scan. It picks out some things. But at the same time it misses whole sections. If there was some way to give the app an email address to look out for maybe that would help. For example I get fuel receipts emailed to me. The app ignores them. Something about the format maybe but it is inconvenient to have to manually enter every fuel purchase.

The Best Receipt & other important documents app

This is by far the best app that scans and downloads all the pertinent information on a receipt and allows one to classify and put each copy into folders. It continues to get better! I particularly like how the app allows you to link your email address so that receipts emailed to one can be automatically downloaded. It even allows user to download receipts from emails through the beginning of the previous year. Good job SimplyWise!

This is a great app… if you only make 10 purchases a month to scan receipts from

I used a verse app for months without any limitation on the amount of receipts I could scan. Now the app says I have to upgrade and pay to scan my receipts because I’ve already used my 10 scans for the month. So if you’re making more than 10 purchases in one month, it’s a great app. But if you buy more than 10 things in one month at 10 different places, you’re better off using another app where you can keep your receipts in one place and not have to physically keep them.

Don’t install - bait and switch for payment

This has to be the most annoying business ploy in the world. They let you install the app, suggesting it’s free ( says in app purchases ). They scam me into giving them my mobile number to create an account in order to use the app. Then when they have my email and phone number I get informed that in order to use the app I need to agreed to a subscription via Apple who has my card on file. I can’t begin to describe how deceitful this company is in their business practices!!! Enough for me to write an app review which I never bother to do. Shame on this company and I hope others write similar reviews against this company. Ohh and I can’t find a mechanism for them to forget my mobile and email. I am so surprised apple actually allows this sort of shady business practice on their platform. It’s a scam and should not be labeled free. It should be clearly labeled a subscription. Then I could have protected my information from the wolves. Who knows how they will use it if they are willing to be this deceitful from the gate….

Love it love it!

I think I’ve written a good review on this before I want to make sure I get my thoughts entered here. This app is very simplistic. I use it for both personal and as an individually run business. The app works, does what they say it does. It makes organization of documentation and receipts, very efficient, and I mainly use it for tax purposes to keep track of receipts. If you need a good way of keeping track digitally of documentation, I would recommend at least giving this app a try. Randy, Florida

Not Just for Receipts (Caught a Crook!)

While on vacation a couple of years ago I was able to identify a waiter who stole my credit card info. He used my credit card info while going back to see his family. I had saved his name and a picture with him ( I do this on vacation with all my servers “for the memories”) and it matched a picture at a gas station 900 miles away when he stopped for gas and attempted to use the card info on a cloned card. Gotcha!

Excellent way to go paperless

I’ve been using this app for a couple of years. I’ve enjoyed it very much. The developers seem to be listening to the users. The improvements over the last couple of years have been positive, although with the last update I noticed the photo receipts aren’t as clear as they once were. It’s not clear enough to scan the barcode when returning an item. In the past it was. Overall great app!

When seeking support, all it does is report an error message? At first look, the App seems organized but once utilizing, it becomes very confusing. I used it for a few days but then I attempted to in out income? That became another rabbit hole? It looks like it has great possibilities but I do not have the patience. Let’s start with the support feature? Because there isn’t any. I cancelled before even subscribing. Apps are supposed to hasten usage not hamper it. Hopefully, it will improve. MAT

Absolutely amazing way to organize!

This is a great app. I have never written a review on an app but I wanted to tell the developers that I truly appreciate their creativity and putting together something that is so easy to navigate. It will save me so much time, preparing my taxes for my accountant. It normally takes me days to do this, but with this app, it will take me, no time at all. Thank you so much for saving me this time. As they say, “time is money”and you have save me a ton. ☺️

Amazing and easy to use!

The app is very easy to use and versatile. I went through 30 years of receipts to deduct for capital gains from my last house. It took me a week, but I couldn’t believe how easy it was. What was amazing is the receipts that I couldn’t see with the naked eye because they were heat affected, the app still picked them up! I did it in the bright sunshine, and the results were amazing. I would recommend this app to everyone!

Line Item Export is Annoying

Exporting receipt line items (versus just the receipt total) is only available via Excel format and not .csv and they’ve added a bunch of formatting to that .xlsx file that makes analysis via pivot table very frustrating and time consuming - that data has to be cleaned up before i can work with it. This is probably fine for a lot of people, but not for me. The scan quality is good and the app is easy to use, but if the reports don’t offer what i specifically got the app for then i will look for other solutions.

Great for receipts

I’ve been using app this for a couple of years and really like it for keeping track of my receipts and monthly totals. It is easy to scan a receipt, review it, and save it in a folder. With the latest major update, it was not immediately apparent how to add a new folder or new category, but the developer replied and explained how. It is is quite easy once you know how. It is also good to know that the developer is so responsive.

Absolutely Stellar Support!

I’ve truly never heard of a company who works as efficiently and effectively as SimplyWise. Any issue or concern we have ever had they have personally reached out and fixed ASAP. They’re so quick with their work, and they’re so good at it as well. They have worked with our organization in ways we could have only dreamed and I would highly recommend them to anybody who’s looking for a receipt scanning app.

New user

So far the possibilities and all I’m told this app does sounds great I’m really happy I can save things I find important all in one place and don’t have to have them on my photos taking up space and can quickly find them when needed , I only wish it had a tutorial on how to use the app cause I’m learning as I go with a lot of errors ;( but it’s worth it if I can have my important paperwork in one app .

Super great app and development team

I was hard pressed to find an App that worked for my rentals and my side hustles. As well kept my personal life in check. This does it for me.. it helps me categorize and put reciepts in the right place.. also if I need to look up a receipt for a return it is right there. I am going to start to use it for my Airbnb business next. The development team is awesome and they listen and make improvements all the time. They took my detailed list and considered and implemented them!! Only reco is that they develop a module for those that are starting or some videos of how to set it up and get you moving. It took me two tax seasons to really get this thing working the way it needed to be.. Awesome team/ awesome app/ awesome experience keep it up!

Scan receipts

This is the third company I’ve been within the past twenty years. This app is perfect and easy to use, but what happens to the other two companies is they change the apps or sell the app and change everything. That’s what happened to the last two. Keep this app easy. Like I said, the other two companies I was with had issues scanning. I recommend this app.

Worth every penny

Im very critical on apps as they all seem to have short comings in different ways. I honestly cannot find any reason to dislike this app. I scanned in over 200 receipts the day i got it some very wrinkled and extremely faded and had 1 that didn’t scan and upload absolutely perfect. In the app’s defense it was so faded I couldn’t even read the name of the merchant. Solid 10 out of 5 stars. Keep up the good work

I love how easy and user friendly this app is. I already love getting all the paper uploaded so I don’t have to worry about losing it and it’s all in one spot 👍The only thing I can think of it needing after using it for only 24 hours would be to have sub categories in folders to be more efficient and organized. But other than that I love this app… and look forward to using it more in the future 👍This should help my tax time be much more organized 👍😁

Great for all receipts, but even better at holiday time

Love how this app instantaneously recognizes the info from my receipt and allow me to easily organize by category. I am putting stuff in folders which will make it easier when taxes are due! They also have find the return dates for your purchases and alert you so you don’t forget. Relieves a lot of stress with all the holiday shopping! Keep it up!

FINALLY

After wrestling with QuickBooks for three years, I have finally found a simple receipt tracking app that is user-friendly (what a thought), generates clear reports, is customizable, and isn’t bloated with features (there are optional upgrades). The only reason for one star off is because the text extraction is not always accurate- that being said, I have found that to be consistent with most receipt apps (I’ve tried a bunch).

Horrible

I downloaded this app a few months ago and started uploading all of my receipts. I went to open it today and now it is asking me to pay for a subscription when I first started there was nothing I could just open it and start downloading receipt. If they are going to start creating a paid app, then they have to allow those of us who have been grandfathered into the app someway to get in but now all of my receipts that I have downloaded the last few months are gone, some of them were business but I will never get back for tax purposes. I would highly recommend not ever downloading this app!

Easy scanning, logging and exporting all in one!

This has been a huge timesaver to address piles of receipts by providing a solution to not only import expenses easily and correctly but also itemize for exporting. Categorization of expenses makes the export easy to navigate. SimplyWise team has provided excellent support for questions and updates and shown to devote time and effort for continuous improvement from its users. 5+ stars!

Sales Tax Report

I downloaded this app to record my receipts for the sole purpose of getting a total of the sales tax when I itemize my deductions doing my taxes. I have to do the business plan in order to get this number from what I can tell. I would have given more stars if they could provide a sum of all taxes on the PDF when export the images with the personal subscription only. Not sure I want to pay $90 a year just for this one function. Otherwise the app seems very easy to use.

Great App but could use some extras

I just signed up for the pro subscription. It’s a very good app and it does just what I wanted. I only gave it 4 stars because the reporting and exporting features are not very good. You only seem to get one report format that is not very good and you can only export it to xlsx or print. I think adding CSV to the list would be very helpful. I prefer using raw data that’s not formatted. Thanks for the great app. Just what I was looking for at a reasonable price.

Easy to use

UPDATE; crashes. This crashes every few mins. I thought maybe my phone needed more space (iPhone) so I cleaned it up by deleting pics and vid’s and some games. Got a good GB from cleaning. But still crashes. I’m so so disappointed. I was in love 😫🥲 PREVIOUS; I didn’t want to have to learn too much since I wanted to keep it simple. This takes a pic asks for category then saves it. Exporting was a breeze!

TL:DR - Wastes your time with an overly long setup before you get to the prices. Don’t take me through the dog and pony show of giving you my information and the opportunity to scan receipts to evoke a sunk cost fallacy (“I spent time doing all of this, might as well commit!!”) to get me to sign up when I finally get to the pricing screen. The type of people looking for an app like this are already likely people who know they are going to have to make some sort of payment for the services rendered. Give me the price, and the option to go through that little pony show you have up now to see how the app runs if I’m not sure. I’ll decide from there whether or not I want to go through an actual trial and purchase.
