Gets the job done - tons of features - spread a bit thin. Potential is here!
I wouldn’t let the reviews tarnish your first impression of this excellent piece of hardware - AND excellent framework of a developing software platform. It did take some persistence to get everything properly connected, but I had firmware updated and full RGB scenes running in 20 minutes. The table makes designs from the moment you add the sand, ball, and power it up. Once you get connected - add the RGB colors and start to play with scenes and SPEED - wow just the first few I tried blew me away! Felt like controlling an RC car around a desert track as the full moon set, it’s easy to get engrossed with this experience. The initial app experience was a bit slow, (be patient with text entry fields - tap once and wait a second for the field to become active before mashing the buttons.) but that’s always the clunky part of app development and I’m sure they’re working on it. Once you’re set up it’s hard not to be impressed with the breadth of control and functionality available. As a Kickstarter backer I appreciate a heroic effort from a great team, and with constructive feedback I’m sure this experience will continue to evolve.
I bought a tabletop version through Kickstarter this year. It and this app are working just fine together. I did get the firmware update on 12/25/19. Sure, the app can be improved with features and better touch responsiveness (speed bar), so I’m giving 4 stars. But clearly the developers are making progress.
I have had a Sisyphus since the first kickstarter, they have come a vary long way and added a lot of great features. They seem to always be working on updates and staying on top of any bugs that pop up. The app is easy to use and feels similar to a music app meaning even my older parents can figure it out!
The table is fantastic and I love it but the app could use some work. Custom table designs could be better. Biggest complaint is that the app pauses the table after a playlist completes or all of the tracks have been run if I just start playing all the downloaded tracks. Would expect them to start over from the beginning or reshuffle the playlist but instead I need to hit start every couple of days.
We have had our table for a year and love it. The app is super easy to navigate and there are so many cool features (changing the lights, making playlists, drawing your own designs). I’d highly recommend to anyone deciding whether or not to get one!
We just got our table and set up was easy. App connects to the table and we’re able to make a playlist for tracks and even create our own- which is my kids favorite thing to do.
Bought this table and really love it. The app needs a fair amount of work. It can’t find my table and it is connected correctly. I have to use the computer to connect to the table as the app doesn’t allow you to manually type in the IP. The app is not able to appropriately search for it on the local network. Hopefully they can spend some development dollars to hire someone to fix it.
The App is clear and consistent, with new updates every month, and new designs to choose from all the time. It’s tons of fun to change my table up for the occasional party or get together!
The app is great and gets updated and enhanced regularly. Gives access to all table controls. Community of other table owners and free designs is connected through the app as well. Nice work!
I want to preface this review by saying the table itself is mind blowing. I am absolutely amazed at what it is capable of... But this review is focused on the app interface and integration- which sadly, needs major improvements. Consistently dropped connections, finicky and confusing UI, weird shuffling when selecting an image to play from a playlist, recently moving the color slide bars requiring the user to figure out they need to scroll down to find them, only to inadvertently click on the color wheel instead, and many other random bugs. Please Sisyphus team, spend some more time QAing your software before releasing it?
This app need some work it is very clunky. The search is very difficult to engage and the over all user interface for playlists and designing graphics is not easy to use.
Connection keeps dropping off. App will not allow me to change to any color. Just did a firmware update, and still have the same issues. So sad 😭 I have amazing wifi coverage at home. Which means the onboard wifi signal is getting blocked by its own case.
I loved the table but have now seen the same 40 stock designs every night. The app cannot stay connected to the wifi and I cannot get to the community tab to download new designs. The app needs improvement big time.
The table is being finicky fresh out of the box and the app is bad. Please spend more time on the app. I got a firmware update aswell and now i cant turn the light on. Cant find the light control anywhere now on the app. Table stuck in 2 ball mode. The attach and detach setting arent there anymore 🤬
The app doesn’t connect with the table, rendering a very expensive table completely useless. I’ve updated the app, reset the table. Nothing works. Don’t waste your money.
Connects to my table MAYBE 1 in 10 attempts. When it does, it’s fine but never finds my table. I’ve had my table for two years. Been like this from go.
The one feature I am wishing for is to be able to control the tracks that are nest up in the queue without making a new playlist this feature could just work like the Apple Music playlist where you can add a song to play “up next”. Other than that this app is wonderful and I love your products! Thank you for your consideration.
Poorly designed app won’t let you do anything, including change internet settings for table without connecting to table and it fails at that most times. NO ABILITY TO EASILY GET THE 150 TRACKS THEY PROMISE without multiple unhelpful FAQs, 3rd party apps, and hours of aggravation and techno expertise. Very disappointed.
The app doesn’t always connect, the table turns off when it should be on. Overall buggy. Super cool when it works but it doesn’t always. For the price tag it should work.
I haven’t rated anything on the app store before but am surprised by the relatively low ratings. I have had the large table since the Kickstarter many years ago and it still works fantastically well. Also, they update the app with issues when they arise, and new features. When things go wrong with my table, they ship me new parts…. and most importantly, there is nothing in the world like this table. Is this iPhone application as smooth as Spotify or Apple Music or Bank Of America? No. But who cares if it’s slick. It does the job of loading images you want and setting the brightness of the light and the speed of the ball and everything else you need to run this thing. You should not be in the app very much because the app is only meant to keep the table running how you wanted to run. It is a simple but powerful app, and it works very well. I cannot recommend this company and this table enough. They do a fantastic job and if I ever go to Minneapolis and visit them I’m going to tell them what a great job they’re doing.
What music brings to your ears, Sisyphus brings to your eyes. Kinetic art, technology, and design merged in stunning meditative beauty. In Greek mythology, Sisyphus was condemned to roll a boulder up a mountain for all eternity. In our art, Sisyphus is a kinetic sculpture that rolls a ball through sand, forever creating and erasing beautiful patterns. Sisyphus is a kinetic art piece: it is an instrument. As a musical instrument plays songs, Sisyphus plays paths. With the Sisyphus App, you can download new tracks from artists all over the world, create your own favorite playlists, and control your Sisyphus table from your iPhone.
