I love being able to check in before I go. I can decide what time works the best for me, and which stylist I want. I hated going there and waiting forever to get my hair cut if they were busy. Only certain stylists cut my hair the way I want so I like having the option of picking my stylist. The only thing I wish this app had was being able to know which stylists were working the next day so I could check in the night before especially to get that first appt. But the check-in doesn’t work until they open for the day, so then I usually end up having to call to see when my favorites are working. This app saves me a lot of time from waiting at the salon so 5 stars from me!
Ive been a stylist with smartstyle almost 6 years now. I had been at Supercuts when the app rolled out and it was great for their platform but, they literally just copied and pasted the app. These are two very different types of salons and on average we spend more times with our clients and that needs to be reflected in the wait time. There needs to be more options for service and yes I know not everything can be reflected service wise in the app but they could easily add some more options. Also wait times are not always realistic. Ive had a full book and the app has allowed people to make appointments leaving me try to fit someone in and that's not fair to either client or the stylist. I do like that you can check wait times and sign in which allows me to not have to walk away from a client to answer the phone or put someone in the computer. Fifteen minutes break times and lunches are already a joke so I won't even comment on that aspect. Overall I hope they make some improvements because I do like to tell me walk in clients about it but I have shied away from telling my more difficult color clients about it. Bottom line it needs some work!
I work in a Smart Style and we absolutely hate this app. The main complaint we get is that their future appointment is canceled and we believe it’s because it doesn’t show on our computer screen. I downloaded this app just to see what would happen. I set up an appointment for the next day, every so often I’ll look at our computer and nothing showed up. The next morning I had to open the salon and nothing showed up. I went a head and transferred the appointments from the book to the computer. After a few hours I received a email stating my appointment was unsuccessful.
I was a walk in yesterday into shop. Haven’t been able to have hair cut since all the covid stuff as been going on. I looked and felt like big foot. My hair stylist Rebecca made me feel at home and helped me decide how to cut my hair. She took the time to help me decide on the length of hair, layers, bangs. She was wonderful. She made me feel so great about walking out with my “new style” Thank you, Rebecca. I will be a repeat customer 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I use the app so that I do not have sit and wait two hours at Walmart for a haircut. I used the app today, and was “reprimanded” by one of the rudest and poorest excuses for a professional I’ve ever met in my life. I called to see how many people I had in front of me and she told me that “You really need to come in because it’s not fair for those who’ve been sitting here waiting...” Well, it’s not my fault that I checked in on the app when that’s what the whole purpose of an app! I literally have better things to do than to wait around Walmart for two and a half hours for a haircut. Locations can be short manned, I get it, but if using the app is discouraged for this reason, then it needs to be disabled for this location. Period.
First, why is there not a way in the app to provide feedback about the app? The only feedback form requires a salon to be selected. No need to blast it out to the masses, but if that is how you want it, here goes: Why is it not possible to go into the app during closed business hours and schedule an appointment for a future time? Ya, I know the place is closed at 6am, but it opens later, so should be able to provide functionality to schedule. Being able to only schedule during open hours is counter productive and you lose more than half of available time.
I’m always a little nervous to try new hair places but as soon as I walked in I felt comfortable. I was given my free consultation(which was extremely beneficial) and then My hairdresser LaTryce started her work right away. She did a fabulous job that I was incredibly happy with. The app seems a bit broken currently since the last update in the beginning of October. It always worked great for me before that, now it’s not. When I try to choose my salon and check in, the option to check in isn’t there. And nothing is scrolling for me that should be able to be scrolled through. Nothing is loading correctly either. Just seems to be acting glitchy. If it gets fixed I’ll give a five star.
What a joke this app is. I was able to locate my store. That’s it. No option to schedule appointment. No option to check in. Nothing that the developer claims. It has a phone number and directions to my store. Which I already had prior. I Can’t reset my password. It sends me a link to my email. That link takes me to a place to renter my email. Over and over to infinity. I can buy a gift card or look at hairstyles, those are the only available choices. Deleting this app. Like I said absolute joke.
The only issue is you can’t register using the App. When you get to the part when you have to select your salon, and you’re asked if you want to receive emails, the app freezes. The workaround is you must register via their website. Other then that, app works fine.
Often the App crashes out or freezes. Aside from the typical performance issues it isn’t always followed by the locations. I used the app 5 min after my nearest location opened and was unable to schedule anything in the first 8 hours when I called the location they told me they had no openings. Not sure how that happens in 8 hours. So the app really doesn’t work if stylists schedule outside it
I stopped having my hair cut, etc. at SmartStyle a long time ago because it was First come First served. Being able to know when I will be in the chair, saves me time- and am also happy with the results!!
I have always had a hard time trusting people to do my hair..well I took a big chance on going to smart styles in our Walmart. They have been the best! I love the way they took the time to cut my hair the way I wanted it. They styled it just the way I wanted. I trust them all the way!
I can select my stylist and times if available for the day I want to go. I hope you will think about making the availability of the different stylists for the entire week. I now love this app so much better!!
I have been coming to the Smartstyle in Pineville, Louisiana for so long that wouldn’t feel good about going anywhere else except my sister’s who is out of town for me. They always make me feel like family.
I like the idea! As a stylist working for SmartStyle I think it's great! But I would like for there to be more options for services. Like a perm, kids cut or just a roller set or style. I've been having clients sign in for haircut but really wanting a perm and it messes up the wait time...
I made an appointment for 10:30am. Showed up near 10:20am behind an older couple. The lady takes them first (and of course she’s by herself) since they arrived before me even though I made an appointment and arrived on time. What’s the point of having an appointment if they’re not going to take you on or around the time of your appointment?
I always get my hair cut at the same location for value , ease of appointment, and similar style. The same stylist cuts my hair. Fast and convenient in my small town.
This is one of the easiest most effective apps I’ve used. I’ve been using it for well over a year now and have never had any problems. It does exactly what I need.
It’s nice buts it really annoying when a stylist has been working there for a while and their name still isn’t appearing on the app to select them. I have to call or go down to get put on the lost for my stylist please get it fixed
The app is ok to check in, find locations, and have a history of what you got done but that’s it. I don’t if it’s by location but I can’t book appointments online or anything like that, they only give you the phone number to call. You don’t really need an app for that 🤷🏻♀️.
Checked in on the app for the time I would be arriving that day. Received confirmation and everything looked good to go. When I arrived, there was NO record of my appointment and instead of trying to offer me another time or in some way correct or make amends for the error, I was simply turned away. So I guess my extreme disappoint lies not only in the app, but in the service at the salon as well.
Wish the coupons would be sent through to the app instead of emailed. In the app would allow for me to remember them. Emailed coupons get lost amongst a thousand useless emails that seemingly come through daily! Anyway, pretty cool app.
Every time I try to put in my personal info it never updates! Also- why can’t you book appointments at my location from the app? It used to show who was working for the day and now nothing! Does show or save anything- my location just doesn’t participate? Not due to my network or devices- so terrible app- useless to me really ....
App is useless unless you live more than hour from the salon. Local salon shows 15 minute wait. Earliest I can book is over an hour later…sorry but that’s pointless. I can drive there. Get my hair done and be back home before the first available appointment. Deleted…
Can’t seem to find check in on the Green Bay Wisconsin site. Very frustrating. Spent a half an hour or more looking to see how I check in online for an appointment. Downloaded the app and that didn’t work either. Maybe it’s just me but your app and website seem technology deficient when compared with other before sites.
The app is pretty good but it would be nice to actually be able to make an appointment check to see when someone was on so that you could book with them and it would be nice if you could make appointments in advance
The app is pretty good it just needs the option to book all services at the salons. You can’t book eyebrow waxing and stuff like that. Would be nice to do.

I haven’t yet been to the place in my area BUT everytime I walk by the staff seems oh so sweet and I LOVE the app and how simple it is to use to book an appointment. Very satisfied!
Your app doesn’t work. I’ve called Smart Style in St. Lucie West, Florida and I don’t get an answer and if I do, I can’t understand or hear them. Now I’ve called and I get a voicemail. Well we will see if they call me back. I’ve been there before and they have always done a great job. I just want to make an appointment.
None of the 3 area shops do not accept the app. I thought it would be a great asset as I do not want to be there waiting all morning , when I would like to have an early morning appointment. When it finally opened up after 9 , it let me schedule an appointment for 12:15 ... got here and they did not have it. What a waste of time.
There’s no place in the app to leave comments or review of the salon it’s self. On several occasions I have book an appointment at the Williston Vermont location on the app. Then the salon it’s self calls back and says that there’s no available appointments for several hours past your appointment. You should add a place to leave feedback for salon directly.
This review for the app only. There is no login option...you have to register only...I expected to see an option to save the gift card or online schedule etc. You can just browse the web instead of this app.
I booked an appointment two days ahead. When i opened the app my appointment was visible. 10 minutes before leaving for my appointment i get a push notification saying my booking could not be processed. I called the salon and there was no appointment for me and they didn’t have room in their appointment book today.
I have attempted numerous times to “check in” and haven’t been able to even find it. I live 15 miles from 3 different salons and want only one stylist to cut my hair. The check in feature is a must... if I could find it. Also I would prefer a landscape orientation. So far I’m not impressed.
Can’t make an appointment, the gallery has a list of styles with only one style for each category, and no price list for a location. It does give a listing of salons, but I can Google those. Please give more options. This is basically an app that’s an advertisement for Regis products. Uninstalling it.
Yesterday, I book for a haircut today at 10:15. At 9:30, I receive an email my booing was unsuccessful. Waiting until 45 minutes prior to notify someone is poor since I travel 30 min. I have an effective 15 minute notice.
The staff is courteous and easy going. My personal stylist Tameka is so sweet and caring. She always has a great attitude and keeps my hair looking fresh and with current trends.
There needs to be a way to schedule an appointment through the app. In this present configuration, the only function you can perform is “check-in”, which you basically already do when you walk in the door.
