I live on 2.5 acres and lots of trees. Another gps collar and inground fence company told me that their product likely would be spotty. I can’t risk that with my Great Pyrenees/blue tick coin hound mix. I started searching and SpotOn fence came up. Once I saw it worked on tree covered areas I was a bit hesitant to believe from what I had just heard from the other company BUT THEN I saw that it was made and built in New Hampshire. That’s where I’m from though I don’t live there anymore and the ENTIRE state is dense tree coverage and spotty cell coverage!!! I was convinced that if it works in NH it will definitely work here and it absolutely does!!!! I love the app and the tracking though honestly she does not get out anymore. Very easy and quick to learn. Was a game changer for peace of mind and my stress. Absolutely get this collar! It works and if it can find and keep your dog in its boundaries in densely covered and remote areas like New Hampshire it will work anywhere!
I purchased two of these collars for my Presse Canario pups . They each figured out how to nibble the quick release fasteners on these collars and take them off of each other. Then they destroyed them the first day they were turned out . This has happened twice and SpotOn has covered these collars when it wasn’t expected but very much appreciated . I solved this problem hopefully. I put a small spike type collar in the front and rear of the collars . So far it has kept them from nibbling the clasp. I have these guardians running about 300acres of the farm and it is amazing how well it works . I can touch the track icon and see where they are spending their time during the day and they are checking fences when I’m gone . . I love it . I highly recommend this system . My pups are too smart for their own good figuring out the clasp is probably not common.
The SpotOn collar has been the BEST product we have added to our farm, and they collars have given me such peace of mind for my dogs. We have 28 acres of land, but live close to a busy road. Before SpotOn, our Great Pyrenees had been in the road several times and was almost hit by a car with me watching. By using the collars, I was able to easily setup a virtual fence for the dogs. The dogs trained quickly to the warning tones when they were nearing the fence line. I was able to firsthand witness one of them getting close to the road and turn around as soon as the collar beeped. Setup of the collars was a breeze using the new app and monitoring location through the app is great. I can’t say enough good things about SpotOn. It was an investment that I’d make all over again for the protection and peace of mind knowing my dogs are within their set boundary.
I love the concept of this collar and when it works it’s a great product, but the problem is that it so rarely works. I’ve had the collar replaced once and sent in and repaired another time and I’m still having issues with it. Currently the tracking isn’t working with nothing but a “we are trying to figure it out” from the support team. The collar’s fence randomly deactivates during the day and every time it’s charged. All the dog setting are lost when this happens as well. And again the support team says they are working on it and hope to have a fix in the next month. Last month the collar was being worked on because it wouldn’t turn on this month the fence and tracking don’t work, when will this collar work? When will I get to use and trust this product?
Purchased SpoOn for my dog Snoop. I had literally bought every containment system I could locally, with disappointing results. SpotOn allows Snoop to roam my entire 4 acres and me worry free! I was very hesitant to buy the collar due to how expensive it is. But after having it I am really glad that I purchased it. We live on 40 acres with Coyotes bantering my dog. He now doesn’t dig under the chain link fence and MIA for days. I like how I can can multiple fences at the Lake and at my parents house. It gives him the freedom of roaming and exploring but knowing he has a “fence”. I’ve had a couple issues with my collar and every time I’ve called customer service they have answered my phone calls, which is almost impossible now a days to get a real human to talk to. The customer service is amazing and has been so helpful. If you’re on the fence about purchasing this collar… I say DO IT! You won’t be disappointed. Monica A
We’ve had our Spoton fence for just over a month now with no complaints!! What an outstanding product that’s so easy to use. They made it so easy to set up with an extremely accurate boundary. Our Pomsky loves wearing his collar because he knows it gives him the freedom to run around our 2 acre yard without a leash. It only took a few days for him to learn the boundary. It gives us peace of mind knowing he’s free to roam our yard and safe!! Thank you!! For anyone complaining of the price, you get what you pay for. We tried other collars that didn’t work. They were a complete waste of money and would randomly shock our dogs. The Spot on collar keeps our dogs safely on our property while allowing them the freedom to roam on the land near our home. After following their easy training instructions, our dogs now know to turn back towards home when they hear the very accurate warning tone totally avoiding any corrective shock. The tracking feature on the phone app also allows us to quickly locate them on our property (several acres) if needed. An added bonus is their customer support team is so professional and absolutely amazing!!!
This has been the best thing for us. Have about 10 acres and other systems only allowed about 1/2 to maybe 1 acre or less of travel. Aza would visit neighbors and fields and be gone 4-5 hours at a time 😩. Used my hunting dog vibration collars on her ( an old English bulldog). But either to far or behind a hill or something. Got this collar set up on full 10 acres and the tone and vibration system she was accustomed to works like a charm. Never used static device and dog has never left “fence” area. Plenty of room to roam safely and we know where she is !!! She actually wants her collar on before going outside. Spendy but worth it to us.
I have two of these collars. It works great for my English Setter. He learned very quickly and knows the boundaries. My Anatolian Shepherd doesn’t care about the zap, even when its on 30. Its nice to be able to track her when she leaves our 5 acres. Ive tried tightening it, but then she just got sores because she has a lot of wrinkles and her neck wasn't getting enough air flow. Two things I would love to see change is having the ability to speak to her through the collar. She listens to our commands well. It would also be great to static correct her from my phone. Halo has that and I miss that. I think she knows the zap ends after 10 seconds and she just toughs it out. Overall, Im happy with the spot on collar!
Spot on has worked really well for us. It was very easy to set up and our dog learned his boundaries quickly. We have a large rural property so installing a fence wasn't feasible. We have also set up boundaries in other places where we have spent time, which was a bonus for us. I have 4 stars instead of five because we have had some glitches - sometimes when switching between users things have gotten mixed up, and we have had to reprogram fences when they disappeared for no apparent reason. The app has been updated a few times since we had those issues, so I don't know if those bugs have been fixed.
This collar is expensive. Having said that it is the most incredible collar with the best customer service out there! My dog was stuck in a cage most of the day because we just couldn’t keep him home. We had tried tons of other collars in the market and nothing worked. This collar allows him to run free all day long! We charge it for an hour at night and he’s good to go. He can now run our entire property with no problem. It has made him a 90% better dog being able to run free instead of caged up. If you have a dog and are on the fence I can’t recommend this collar enough.
I live out in the country on 2 acres and since we moved in and got our pups, it’s been a continuous inconvenience because our dogs were runners! Deer, rabbits, cats, other dogs, you name it, they chased it. When we were home working in the yard, gates had to be closed or the dogs had to be chained up. Now, after a few easy training sessions, my dogs run freely all over the property. They stay in the property inside the electronic fence line and are rarely even tempted. If so it’s very short lived. My pups now get more exercise and enjoy being free to walk or run all over our land. Thanks Spot On! Total game changer!!
We have an adventurous little hound dog… started with a manual collar.. he knows when the collar sounds to get back home.. but if he sees us not paying attention he sneaks out of range…. Not any more… with SpotOn Cooper has no choice.. he has approached the designated line only couple times in few months… abruptly turns around… we have no more worries because of this collar… runs the entire day on charge… he doesn’t even wander much in the yard anymore.. the border is easy to establish.. easy to edit… could not be happier.. it is expensive, but worth every dime without doubt…
I probably order an XL instead of the L ( yes I didn’t read the manual), my dog got a terrible rash and had to be shaved. They sent me a replacement strap to make it smaller and I hope it’ll work. After spending over $1k on a collar, I think I got second to none customer service. They apologize even if it wasn’t their fault, they care about my Mali well being and that matters to me. I got the strap replacement and I hope it’ll work. Extremely easy to do business, they have a super easy to work with.
The customer service department is beyond incredible. I have had issues and spot on took care of it with expedited shipping very short lead time. Interesting note is during the period the collar was being repaired Tessa still stayed within the boundary. We have a area of about 2 acres and she has been using it for a little over 2 years. We also have a boundary set up at our hunting cabin of approximately 10 acres and the transition between both fences is seamless. Fantastic product and company. Thanks SpotOn.
While it’s more expensive than its competitors, it is well worth the investment. SpotOn’s customer service is fantastic and have always been able to help me resolve my issues, which involved, mostly in just learning the sophisticated features. My dog likes to roam freely, around our 5 acre mountain property and he quickly learned the meaning of the warning tones that he received, as he approaches a boundary. He no longer ventures beyond our boundaries, which gives us good piece of mind.
We bought 2 collars and it has been the best!! No expensive fence taking away the view or needing repairs and no wires to bury and check. The dogs (especially the golden retriever) tested it out but was right back in the yard. Sometimes he looks to where he wishes he could go and barks at the other side!! lol The collar recently needed repair and words cannot express how impressed we are at the promptness and perfect resolution. I highly recommend this collar! We are so happy with this investment!
We love our collars! We have a Kangal (Livestock Protection Dog) who patrols our 25 acres of horse pastures and paddocks, 24-hours a day. Bought two collars for him, one for daytime and one for night. Setting up the fence was a breeze - got it right the first time we tried and haven’t had to adjust it since. The Help Department generously guided us through a couple of early bobbles while we were getting the collars set up properly. This is a great product and a great company! Give them a 10+ out of 10.
We’ve been using spot on fence collars with our livestock guardian dogs for the last two years. As well as with our house dog “Blue”. “Blue” runs free on the farm but when he gets into compost piles, it’s not fun to clean up what comes up later. So we’ve been able to “fence out the piles and he still gets his freedom. This is one of the most accurate and versatile dog collars on the market. And we’ve tried them all. I have been a spot on customer for 3+ years and I am still happy with the collar’s performance and more so impressed with the customer service. My dog has roughly 12 acres in his inclosure that includes my farm yard and surrounding area, somehow he managed to completely break off a contact probe on his collar rendering it useless. I contacted spot on though the website, printed a return label and in 7 days had a new collar on my doorstep, no charge!! Thank you spot on, keep up the good work.
Great product that works as advertised and a strong company that stands behind their product. All contact with technical support by phone or email has been handled by professional individuals. If there is a problem they will assist you in getting the problem resolved. Five stars in my book. I have a very active Airedale Terrier who hates trucks with loud exhaust and he will chase them for about 180’ then he will hit the brakes when he approaches perimeter line.
This was such a solid product when we first received it. Now, though, after several updates and added features that we really don’t need, it won’t hardly ever work! It frequently doesn’t alert our dog that he’s out of bounds, and it doesn’t alert us either. The collar used to be flawless. Now it’s either always searching for satellites, or turning off certain collar settings without us adjusting it. Several reboots and ensuring updates later, it still lacks functionality. Need to change the name to “spotty if it’s on” collar :-/
I have the Gen1 and the old app which worked fine. But you guys out did yourselves with this new app. Much more user friendly and as always, very reliable. I love the look and feel of how it works. Intuitive and works well with my phone. So much easier to set up fences and see where your dog is. I couldn’t be happier. Also appreciate your responses to any questions I have. Thank you!
We have had a few issues with the battery coming loose on our collar and the customer service team could not be more helpful. They have fixed the collar without question and expedited the turnaround time. Anytime we have questions,They are quick to respond and thorough with their investigation of issues. We love our collar.
I have a four year old, mini golden doodle who's very smart and loves to run. We have a good place for that, but he tends to want to go where he doesn't belong. we put the collar on him and walked him around the property on the leash. One time we have never set the collar to shock only vibrate. We've had it about two months now and he's never left the yard. He's got a 3 acre place to run. The spinal collar is awesome.
The collar and charger are well designed. The original setup is a breeze. My dog will often wear it all day and the battery always lasts. We don’t have any signal problems and we are in the forest. The training resources are excellent and the 2 tone system is much more effective at preventing run through than the competitors design. It’s a pleasure to watch her run and play.
I absolutely love this collar!! I had a few issues at first and they replaced the collar quickly and then I had issues of my making and the diagnosed it and told me how to fix it. Customer service was great every time I needed them. My Lab always ran down the street to a neighbors house but not anymore, Thank you for helping me keep my dog safe!
The collar itself works great! Support has also been pretty good. We use our collar to let our GSD run our 30 wooded acres. I have fences set for several houses we frequent and smaller ones around our own house. Only issue I have is it will not charge reliably. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn’t. Seems to be an issue with the base. Unless there’s a design change coming I don’t see it be solved.
It takes awhile to learn how to use it and I’m not just referring to training the dog. There is a learning curve to the app and the collar operation, but hang in there, once you get it down and get the dogs trained it is fabulous. The tracking feature is also really cool, I like being able to know where my dogs are on the property when they are not in visual range.
Would like to take the time to say we are enjoying being able to use the collars for our training pens as it has helped our pups from getting through and or digging under the fence line I have alternated a regular 2” collar and they still think it’s the Spoton so stay within 5’ off our fence line out in pastures
I contemplate the the $1800 investment but I couldn’t be happier that I did it ! We live in 20 acres and now I can open the door and know that both of my dogs are safe and not going to come in full of burrs. It’s also very easy to train your dogs to use it. I’m no expert dog trainer by any means but this was not hard to do !
Been using it for a few days now and it’s worked great. Our dog (7 years old) took to the sound warning right away, crossed the boundary once while learning and hasn’t crossed it again. Love that I can track exact location as we have wooded areas and thicket where he may not always be visible.
We have been very happy with the collar and Dash is doing great on it. I wish it would track his activity level. It would be nice to see how much exercise he is getting during the day. Dash is a German short hair pointer that is almost 2 years old. A few times the collar corrected him before he was within the 10ft area but this might just be the nature of a gps collar.
We can’t see our house or any other buildings on our property
We are a new build in Jan 2022. We have been told that Google maps has not updated their system to include our home and I think this is ridiculous. Does anybody know how I can contact Google to get questions answered about when they are going to update our maps?
I have owned this collar for one year now and have to say I am disappointed. After 9 months of use the collar simply would not hold a charge. The collar when new wouldn’t hold a full charge for more than 20 hours tops. I reached out to SpotOn and they sent me another collar which I received this week. Guess what happened…. It won’t hold a charge. I am beyond disappointed and at this point I just want my money back and I am going to try a different wireless fence collar.
Amazing product and excellent customer service! It has truly taken a ton of stress off our family. We used to worry about the kids letting our yellow lab out to terrorize the neighborhood. Now we can leave the doors open if we want to and he will stay on our property.
We are absolutely in love with these collars. Our 3 dogs (Husky, 2 German Shepherds) are no longer inside of a physical barrier which means they have a lot more room to roam on our 20 acres. Exceeded every expectation! We had them trained in about 2 weeks utilizing the free trainer they offer with each purchase of the collar.
This is one of the greatest products I have ever purchased. The improvement to both my dogs lives as well as mine is mind blowing. I have recommended these collars to everyone I know that has a dog. If you are contemplating getting one these, do it. You won’t be sorry.
After update doesn’t get any signal, collar is only 30 days old. Loved it until then and now they want me to ship it back so they can look at it. Clearly it was the update that caused the issue. Super disappointed unfortunately, and I never wrote reviews but the way they are handling it is the reason for the review. Should send me a new collar without a question with the understanding that I need to send the old one back or I will be charged, just like a cell phone does.
The Spot On system works great on our property at home. Bonus - when we went fishing at a mountain lake, we created a new fence and it worked great! She knows the tone and stayed in the boundary! We have confidence that this system works and we can all enjoy being outdoors together!
Our extremely high energy pup needs room to run. having 5 acres it is hard to keep track of him. This collar makes it easy keeps him contained, safe and helps him not to chase game when they run in places he’s not allowed to go. what a blessing. Thank you, SpotOn.
We have had three different dog collars and once we got our dogs trained, we are absolutely loving the SpotOn GPS Fence. We love the option of taking the dogs to different places and setting new boundaries. SpotOn Has also really impressed us with customer service. Great product!!
Lots of problems immediately when trying to “Walk a Fence Boundary”. Red error notifications. Then I had the same issue as others - the collar needed a hard reset every time we did a fence update. Which was often, when trying to correct for drift. Buggy app and product. Daily charging. Drifting boundary. Slow alert times. Overall this didn’t work for our .75 acre yard.
I love the new Spot On collar. It allows me to control where my dog is on our 28 acres. She is free to run on about 3 and I don’t worry about her because she is bell trained. Does not go near her boundaries. The new app allows me to control the collar from my phone like my home. Love it. Thank you Spot On And the tech staff are great.

This is an amazing Collar I love it, it’s very durable for our country living and very accurate. There’s only 3 things I would change, longer battery life, different color options and manual static correction option. Other than that I highly recommend this product.
