I use mobile banking for depositing checks and checking on my accounts. However I think the required change in password every quarter is overkill and annoying. The bank should have a more secure system and should not force all its clients to be obliged to make changes every quarter. Please explain why once a year is not good enough 😳
I’ve used this banking app for a couple years and I love it. I read that someone was unable to use the mobile deposit app—well I’ve used it twice this week, so it definitely works. You can use biometrics to log in, which is convenient. I just wish they had a way to raise your spending limit on this app—they always bump mine to $300 and it’s frustrating when I’m at places like IKEA and I can’t buy a bed because it’s over my daily limit and I can’t call support because apparently they work the same hours as the actual bankers... so I have to wait until Monday to buy the bed (or many other items that have been over $300). But the app is great!
The app rarely reflects the correct available balance for my accounts. Sometimes it will skip the whole days transactions completely so I have no way to track the right amount of money that is in my account. I have bill pay that is connected to the login of my account and when the app incorrectly says I have less than I really do, the bill will not get paid because it thinks the funds are insufficient. This is the worst and most inconvenient banking app. I will start using capital one checking more and slowly get rid of this bank from having my money. I’ve already transferred my savings to other banks.
Two issues for the mobile deposit process. 1) When taking the picture, you should activate the flash. Wells Fargo’s app does that. Without it, it is so difficult not to get shadows of your hand(s) holding the phone over the check. The result is the check images look very unprofessional to any customers who view them. Please fix this. Seems easy. 2) the app suddenly logs out after about 10-15 minutes. I haven’t timed it exactly. The problem with it, is if I’ve just clicked the final submit button on a check deposit, and the app cuts back to the log screen, I don’t know if that check has been deposited. I have to wait a day or so to check if it has been. There’s no way of seeing deposits that you’ve just initiated today. Solution: warn me that I’m going to be logged out. I’ll log out and log back in. Thanks.
This app is by far the most rudimentary, basic and frustrating financial app I’ve ever worked with in my life. They require you to change your password every 90 days, you cannot reuse the same password and it has to have a combination of letters and symbols and numbers. If you enter it incorrectly three times, it locks you out and requires you to change your password. Not a completely unrealistic expectation but requiring you to change it every 90 days and never reuse the same one creates a lot of problems at once you’ve had to change at 10 or 12 times. Frustrated every time I use it and makes me want to go back to Wells Fargo.
A customer can literally watch throughout the day before or after a transaction or deposit go wildly wrong and must be a computer organizing your money NOT in your favor. I’ve had to call the bank NUMEROUS times to save my money from being switched around by this bank computer to organize transactions to make fees or organize your money in transactions order to have you go into the red where they charge the customer for returned fees. It’s an APP you should have to make sure your not getting scammed and to see this bank is not on the customer side with your money but an app you can take screenshots to show how it’s mismanagement of your funds
I love Sunrise Banks, great pro-community, environmentally friendly bank. The app is pretty good, although about 30% of the time it hangs on the “loading” screen mid-deposit, won’t let me navigate and I have to turn off my iPhone to force-quit and then start over. This means allow 10 minutes for a successful deposit, which can be very inconvenient.
I use this app every day - several times - and it never reflects the actual balance or most recent transactions to my account. Luke Old-fashioned computer generated content, this site depends heavily upon the competency of the individual teller, banker, officer who accesses the site. I also bank with Capital One 360, and the difference between the two technologies is stunning. Keep plugging, Sunrise! And maybe invest in new software? But not on my money, please. Take some of your stock dividends and invest in your client interface.
I think the app needs more security, which is not the banks fault! The imminent threat of cyber security that appears to happen on a high frequency. Perhaps it is coming from greedy consumers or maybe from a terrorist network. Wherever it comes from is somewhat arbitrary, but I do think Sunrise banks needs back up so the criminals lose and go to the clink. These alleged criminals are interfering with progress and we simply cannot have that.
I can’t turn on and off cards, can’t get notifications from a specific account when card is being used. My capital one credit card app can do this. When logging in it’ll have important messages at the top but the load time is so quick you can’t even read the first word. This app is lacking a lot of standard features that other financial institutions offer. I tried to dispute a suspicious transition that came through and that feature didn’t work, just says unable to do it.
The app is easy to navigate through. All of the information I need about my accounts is laid out nicely. I also like that they allow me to deposit a check just by taking photos of the front and back of a check.
Interest rates reflected in app not accurate: for instance my mortgage rate is 3.625 not 3.63 this is an easy fix to get correct and makes the bank look sloppy.. Can’t access all your account statements on line why is that ?? Again looks lazy Overall interface needs work compared to other banks
Sunrise Banks is a wonderful bank. Great mission, outstanding service. This app easily lets you view all of your accounts at sunrise in the same place, including children’s accounts and it allows you to transfer money quickly and easily.
This app is the only reason I was able to switch to Sunrise as I travel a lot and need to deposit checks when I am not in the Twin Cities. I’ve never had a problem with my accounts or deposits, my only annoyance is how often they ask me to reset my passwords.
It’s the most convenient thing about banking at Sunrise, where if your account is mistakenly flagged for fraud out of business hours you are SOL, where traveling to a neighboring state triggers a fraud alert, as does, sometimes, just buying stuff with your own money. Maybe the app could be used to make those situations easier?I really do like the app and prefer to bank community, but the other stuff murders me on the regular.
The main reason I use bank apps is to be able to do remote deposits from my phone. Checking balances is easy to do on a computer or through a browser so an app is not needed for much other than remote deposits. This one doesn’t work, it always says “Unknown Error” when I try to use the remote deposit (I’ve been checking every week for several months), so this app is not very useful.

For a small bank it does a pretty good job at maintaining relevance of its app. The employees actually care about feedback on the app’s performance and will take suggestions from customers.
I really want to support small local banks but this app is poor quality. My most recent frustration is every time I try to make a mobile deposit I’m about to submit and it kicks me out making me have to log in again only to repeat the process. I haven’t been able to deposit a check via the mobile for days…
It’s tough because Sunrise Banks is a small bank with limited locations so it is essential that their mobile deposit feature be functional and yet I’ve had problems for months getting it to work. So basically I can’t deposit my checks until I’m home from college.
has resulted in log-in / password fatigue … again . I’m heading over to sunrise to close my account. It took customer service 30 minutes to fix this . Not their fault just a terrible system . Can’t bank with a company that is so unreliable on so many levels . Maybe in a few years when they figure it out
It’s convenient to be able to deposit checks via mobile phone but this app is kind of glitchy. I often have to try two or three times to deposit a check before I succeed. I’ve used other mobile banking apps that work better.
The edeposit option doesn’t work. It will tempt you. It will hover around as an option for you to do. You can click it. It will say it just needs an update to work. But it doesn’t work. This is not a feature you can use. I am convinced it will never work.
I tried to get somebody from the bank to explain why the mobile deposit doesn’t function. I was told to uninstall and reinstall the app. I have now done that twice, but it still doesn’t work. I’m trying hard to support a small community bank, but I need basic services to function properly. Please fix this!
If you get locked out you have to call during business hours so can take awhile to get into your account. Also can’t get basic info like your full account number either. Definitely could be upgraded.

I love Sunrise as a bank, but the app leaves a bit to be desired. There’s definite room for improvement with the user experience. American Express, for instance, has a great user experience with their app. I think that sunrise could learn a lot from American Express and how they set things up.
Unable to get remote deposit to work. I’m enrolled but the option does not appear under self service menu. When I go into enroll it says I’m already enrolled, and there’s a link to review terms and conditions. When I click on it I get a weird network error from the cloudera server.
I find this app confusing. Previous online banking app was very straight forward. This one, numbers shift in order over time and I can't always be confident of the accuracy of my online statement at any given time .
I do not like how often it makes you change your password to log in. That alone makes me not want to use that app at all. Other then that the app is fine and does what it is supposed to do.
