Swords and Sandals 2 Redux

I played this game as a kid and I’m really happy it’s in the App Store today! I think overall this has never been a 5 star game so I can’t really expect it to be one today but I would definitely like to see big fixes and balancing fixes. I like the new skill system that’s introduced but it’s overshadowed by the fact that your progression of skill points can’t keep up with the gladiators in the arena unless you know metas. This game wasn’t really intended to be “hard” as much as it is “luck based” but I’m over here dumping stats into my attack still and I still come up with %30 chances to hit endgame. The daily quest mechanic is really nice however it’s annoying to click through the day in order to access it. There should really just be a button to access the daily quest so we can quickly get random skill points when we are struggling. Overall high scores could be presented by how many days it takes for people to beat the arena that way there isn’t necessarily a punishment for going on a quest but you should be striving not to go on them.

I love this game, I even bought the Maximus Upgrade because it was my favorite game back in the day, I wasn’t disappointed either. There was a few minor details (some are glitches) that have bugged me since I started playing. Dungeon XIV (14) has the hardest challenges in there. When I beat the gladiators I immediately died to the dungeon keeper because of how hard he is. You can’t even defend against him since all of his attacks hit and you only have a 25% chance of hitting, making it near impossible. And this is for other fights too where people have several hundreds more power than you and you can only get 25% chance. Anyways, when I went into the Gladiators fight, it took like 20 straight minutes because of the challenge. He wasn’t even he boss! And when I beat him, it gave me an achievement saying I won with 5% health or something and it said I died. I had to reroll my luck and ended losing almost all my money. This made me extremely mad and almost convinced me to delete it, but I still love the aspect of the game. Maybe remove the 25% chance of hitting for harder enemies and I’ll give it 5/5 rating. This game is decent but it does not have the niche appeal of the original game. There are some changes that I don't agree with but overall I don't consider it to be a cash grab. If the developers read this then I would recommend adding certain content back. First add back the original enchanting with elements as it was a fun creative addition. Second the exp rates need to be lowered due to the fact that I unlock new weapons and armor before I can finish the previous set. This game could be great with some small changes. If you have nostalgia for the old game, I would not recommend the full version but if you like swords and sandals then I would buy it. (There are features from the old game that are not listed with the Maximus upgrade description) Thanks E-games. (Also please create Swords and Sandals 3 with multiplayer for mobile, don't redux it, just remaster it. People would buy it 😉) -Matt

This game is incredible. After it’s most recent update so many improvements and bug fixes were made, any past complaints are gone. This game is nearly perfect. Allowing you a long lasting strategy game on your mobile device. It’s a thing that’s hard to come by nowadays. With the new update so many new play styles have become viable, adding a ton of new replay-ability. If you were burnt by this game in the past, now’s the time to check it out. Understand that all the negative reviews that plague this game are from another era when this was just a bad port of a flash game. Mobile users just don’t update their reviews after patches and bug fixes. Now S&S is running smoother than ever. Countless hours of fun. Ps. Try a ‘Taunt’ build with all Charisma. Can be fun!

Loved it I used to play this game on my computer years ago!! I have one question though and I’m curious to know if anyone has experienced this but I feel like the game lagged out or something because I completed about 6 or 7 tournaments and don’t know how to advance in the game.I purchased the Maximus edition too and I literally reached level 60 and it says all I have to do is fight the emperor but like the game never progressed me forward is this normal? I really want to continue with the story but idk what to do now Maximus edition mentions 20 tournament so I’m confused any help? Also I never got the Maximus armor either so I’m kinda bummed about that. Thank you!

The game is great just as I remember playing in the past, the feel and the gameplay still aged well, only problem I’ve experienced is my game going black screen and staying this way after purchasing armor and exiting shop. I’ve tried to bypass this by closing app and opening the game up again but the app doesn’t save what I buy so I’m basically unable to keep any items and progress. UPDATE: the game apparently does this when I switched to classic shopkeepers and classic graphics doesn’t appear to go black screen on redux graphics and redux shopkeepers.

Swords and sandals 2 was my favorite computer game growing up besides big name games like club penguin, toontown, bloons tower defense, etc. It just confuses me why this developer choose to change everything that seemed to work well in swords and sandals 2. Don’t change the layout and graphics and characters builds so much. Keep the characters consistent and game consistent like it was successful previously. You could add more swords, axes, bows, spells, armor. Create a different emperor. Make new bosses. Guarantee this could even make a great xbox or playstation game. There’s just so much potential.

This game brings me back to 2008, in college lit courses playing swords and sandals. Glad to be playing it. Since I used to play it back in the day I figured I’d support and buy the full app. It was great, started off with gear and all that. Now I am at the point where I have to upgrade to keep competitive. The problem is the app freezes every time I purchase a weapon or armor. Other than that it’s fun. Basically I am stuck at this skill level for this character, need to start over. I will see if I am able to progress through the game as promised with the full purchase.

I used to play this game years ago and loved it. I was so excited to stumble across it on the App Store. I immediately paid the $4.99 pack because I knew I’d spend hours playing this again. After my first character, I noticed I was playing matches and not earning EXP. I played 4 more matches and sure enough, no exp gain. I closed and relaunched the app, played another match.. nothing. I decided to make another character thinking maybe something messed up when I paid the $4.99 pack. Nope. Right at level 3 again, no more EXP gain. Please please please fix this. I really love your game and would love to get some dang EXP. Not sure if you care to much about ratings, but I’ll gladly bring this back to 5 stars if this can get patched.

I use to play this game on my computer when I was younger and I was excited when I saw it got added to mobile. I grinded through all of the bosses but when I got 3 away from the Emperor my character “maxed out”. No better weapons or armor in the shop to buy, no more skill points to spend, no more progression besides playing. And with the tournaments brings 12 duels each it’s pretty frustrating not being able to level up anymore. Other than that it’s a really good make of the game I use to play.

I’ve been a fan of the series for a long time, but oddly enough Swords and Sandals 2 has always been my favorite. The game on the computer wasn’t perfect, but regardless the nostalgia of playing one of my favorite games back in the day prompted me to buy the Maximus upgrade. Wasn’t disappointed. There are a couple kinks that need fixing, but the redux was very well made and fixed a lot of problems that were in the original Swords and Sandals 2 game. The storytelling element was also a very nice touch as well. Kudos to you guys, thanks for the great game!!

Look, I’m a long time S&S lover and when I saw this I was/still am tempted to pay for the $5 Maximus pack, but if stuff in the main game doesn’t work, like watching ads to get stuff, and then not getting your reward, how can I spend money on a broken game. If you are even still looking at reviews I would appreciate fixing stuff like that and who knows, if it does get fixed, I’ll update this review and might even buy the upgrade.

I used to play this game all the time at school, and when I saw this I was ecstatic and downloaded immediately. When I first got an ad I was a bit bummed but I bought the ultratus edition and it was cheap but still a bit much for some nostalgia. The bug is that whenever I leave a store after buying some items the game either works or just softlocks me on a black tinted screen and I have to restart the game and I can’t buy any better armor. Please fix this devs.

Some weird bugs, but the worst is the fact the enemy you face glitches a extra turn sometimes, and in my case all the time, i had a opponent literally get a extra turn every time he went costed me the arena, a big problem considering you have a difficulty were you cant die or you lose a character so if anything thats a big let down knowing i wont be able to play that mode with this bug being active

I have been so down in the dumps and live over 3000 miles away from my little brothers. We used to play this game on the computer non stop. Now that I have this game again I feel like I’ve been transported back to happier times. So thank you so much for making this. I know they really liked those terrible happy trails games so if u could make those too I know my brothers would go crazy!! Once again. Thank you so much

It’s a really good game. I love the style, the weapons/ armor and “the coin system”... However, one bugg ruined it for me. I’m talking about the bug where you’re enemy gets to hit you two times in a row. It might not sound that serious but honestly I wouldn’t recommend this game while the bugg is still there. Because... who want to play a gladiator game with UNFAIR combat. As I said it’s a good game, but please fix this annoying glitch...

I used to play this game as a kid in the computer and I just found it I want to play it and I just start it passed the first fight try going into any store and I come out of it and it just never loads please just patch it up you don’t got to add anything else just fix the bugs so I can play this legendary game please!!!!

I was playing and i won the 3rd tournament and then it stopped the music and my game froze with nothing i thought it was a bug and i also thought if i deleted the game i will keep my progress since you could link your account to game center but when i deleted it i installed it again and then it wanted me to make a new character please fix this and give me my 12 levels back

Ok, ok so Swords and Sandals is my favorite game on the computer and now it’s an app? I was really happy about this coz I haven’t played it in forever! I haven’t had time to play it on the P.C ever since I got to middle school (I’m still young but of course I won’t tell you my age). The game is really good but there’s a bug in the game where when you exit the shops the game won’t load. Please fix this bug because I can hardly even progress meaning I can’t get new weapons or armor due to the fact I can’t even buy anything. If I did buy something and exit the shop. My screen goes black and the game soft locks itself.

Bought the ultratus edition, turned on the classic textures went to the shops, left without buying anything (even happens when something is purchased form the shop). They did their usual dialogue, but then after the game will black-screen and I will have to remove the game from the multitasking bar to fix it. Really love the game and the nostalgia it brings, but this bug makes the game literally unplayable.

This game deserves 6 stars if I could, love it and have played it since my childhood. Only problem I am having is the shop glitch taking away the enjoyment and functionality of the app/game. Hopefully corrections can be made for this glitch. Without glitch a no question 5 star. Please correct asap.

I love the stores, but there is only one graphics mode that just doesn't work, but you only have to choose the other graphics, and if anything, the other graphics are better! Please add more to the game, i love it and im sure other people feel the same. Please add more spells too! Thanks developers!!! I bought the Ultradus additional purchase too!

Once you start getting to the last four arenas, it just takes too long to burn through the fodder for a real fight. My biggest complaint is the second to last arena where you fight your shadow. My character is god mode, and it takes half an hour cheesing through the fodder just to get into an RNG battle with myself into what seems an uphill battle where a majority of your attacks are blocked.

This game is my childhood and is very well done. Everything is great except that I reached the max level at tournament 12 because I died so many times before reaching the champion and leveled up quickly. I can’t gain any more experience and I’m not even half way through the tournaments, I wish this could be fixed so I can still gain points without the health and magic boost.

I’ve been playing swords and sandals on those unblocked games sites at school now I’m finally playing the real thing so fun before even playing I bought the hardest difficulty cause I’m just kinda like that regular hard ain’t enough for me umm very fun love figuring out how to beat the first arena boss

After I got to tournament VI I went into a shop and my game refuses to load when I exit, I even started a new character, that didn’t work, then I uninstalled and re-installed and it still was crashing! Please I love this game I remember playing it when I was 9, I’m 21 now and I’d love to continue playing, I even bought the ultimate edition so I don’t want this to be a waste of money

I loved this game when I was younger and still love it to this day, going as far as to buy Maximus. This game has many things going for it, especially as a mobile game but, I don’t like how when I try to get the Maximus armor the game soft crashes. The screen will freeze and only show blackness. Otherwise, this game is well worth the money.

Every now and then you'll win a fight but lose anyways. It shows your gladiator standing over a vanquished opponent and then the banner at the bottom says you died and it sends you to the graveyard. In addition to this, my character ignores all opponent's armor in both boss fights and ghost fights making it extremely easy. These two bugs pretty much ruin it for me and I paid money for the full version. Just play the free version, not worth the money.

I have loved this series of games since I was little! This is the ultimate gladiator game, and I have played many, even expensive ones. This is probably my favorite game of all time. I am 22, and just wanted to let you know some people really appreciate you 🌹⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My opponents have agility at level 2 yet they are still leaping towards me making it too difficult to keep my distance from them. In the original you could level up your charisma to like 10 and just shout at your opponents until they lost. In this version charisma is almost useless. Even with charisma at 10 or more dealing damage is very rare. Make it more like the original online version

I don’t care about the bugs, I feel it gave it more character. Been playing this game since I was ten and found the flash game. Now I’ve played it on mobile and this game just holds a special place in my heart. Trust me. Get the game, it’s worth it

Literally the worst game I have ever played and I've played some really bad games but this one is horrible. Casually playing on standard difficulty when suddenly on my 2nd fight ever my opponent regenerates health and energy in the same turn as attacking me and deals double the damage that my special attack does on his weakest attack I've fought this over 30 times now and got close to winning many times but of course he somehow gets back all of his health and instantly kills me in one hit dealing 70+ damage really great game

Google this as I didn’t and sure enough it seems like a 100% success rate if you buy the game. Every time you leave a shop, the game gives a black screen and you have to create a new character. This happens every time I play, every character I make. This issue has persisted for over a year and no changes have been made. Insane it’s still up for purchase on the App Store. Its an actual, unintended scam.

Played this on the computer when I was young brings back great memories, after all these years I was finally able to beat the game and it was still as fun as I remembered it! Always been a cool game

Could be really good. I bought the max upgrade and the game crashes every time I leave the sword shop. It just completely black screens and I have to restart. Please fix this bug, it is still happening when I try to use old graphics.

I really did enjoy the game buy i did not like the fact that i will have to pay in order to continue but maybe one day i will bit I loved every bit of it I could play

Loved this game growing up, never had a problem with the app until about a year or two ago consistently when it just starting bugging out… mainly due to every time I leave a shop, the game freezes indefinitely. I cannot progress at all. Would love for this to be fixed so the game is playable.

This is my all time favorite game ever, aside from Rainbow Six Siege. I played this for 10 hours in one day. On tournament 3, after you beat the champion, it makes you pay money to continue with the game. You can pay the $3.99 price but I will be paying for the $4.99 price because I love this game so much.

There is a glitch where when entering the shops to buy weapons/armor, you’ll get stuck in an infinite black screen and none of what you purchased will save. Everything else is pretty much spot on from what I can tell so please fix this.

This game is fun I been playing for a couple of years so I’m use to a fight and lot of death but the ads .......the ads yes mess up the game and kick me out the I sometimes lose my reward and it happened every battle I finish also none Tournament battles don’t have a defeat animation

The game is great, maybe even better than the og swords and sandals II. However, any time I leave any shop the game goes black. The only way to fix it is to close and reopen the game. Every time you go to the shop. So, obviously I stopped playing immediately and don’t plan on coming back. I doubt this will ever get fixed, so just keep your money.

As much as I love this game it’s impossible to beat it! There are certain tournament level where the enemies are way higher than my character, even if the game is on easy mode I can’t get past certain levels, please set a balancing limit

The game looked good so far when I purchased the Ultratus edition, until I enter one of the shops, the game suddenly goes black when I exit the store not purchasing anything. Ive restarted the game multiple times and tried different characters, but I still havent fixed the problem.

I bought the ultratus version, i’m enjoying the overall game but there are bugs and glitches that should be fixed: 1- i keep fighting on the very first arena despite unlocking new ones 2- sometimes when i fight a boss I immediately damage their health and it ignores the boss’s armour 3- when i switch to classic graphics, enter a store then leave, it blacks out the screen and i would have to restart the game to get it to work please fix these glitches to highly improve my experience.

I bought the Ultratus version of the game, and of course I’m using the classic graphics, and it seems that every time I exit the weapons shop, it hangs on an endless black screen. Other than that, the game is solid.

Im maxed lvl in standard mode but if you seen the stats of the bosses they completely over power i have an attack lvl of 50 and i have 99% power hit on hard fights but have 25% hit on bosses who always lands there power hits i am lvl 60 but always gets destroyed bu the slave driver
