I have played and loved the original version many times. The artwork, the soundscape are beautiful and soothing. The premise and gameplay are very rewarding and it is satisfying to restore polluted biomes and see wildlife return. Especially as there are so many games (and the real world) focused on destroying or blowing stuff up. I particularly love playing it in Zen mode. BUT the new version will not advance beyond the first biome, River Valley, even though I have completed all goals, even the optional goals. I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times and my iOS is up to date on my iPad M4, but no joy. I’d love to play this new version through all levels, so hope you can fix it soon. Thanks for the creativity.
I’ve played the first version multiple times, and despite its glitches, I had become addicted to the beauty and simplicity of the game. However, all of this time to wait for a new update with new content and there’s only one new animal? I was let down. The new levels are fun but the animals are just repeated ones from the other continents. Having Boar on 3/4 regions was redundant. There are so many other species that could have been used instead. (Tapirs, Caiman, Capybara with the Jaguar level would have fit well as an example) Also pandas? In the tropical island with the South American animals? That made no sense at all as pandas aren’t even on the same continent as Flamingos and Jaguars. It took away from the suspended belief of the game. The glitches are also now more persistent, with the animal bar opening up repeatedly even when you didn’t mean to highlight an animal. The game also lags constantly and zooms in to the fullest at random. The Abandoned Quarry level also doesn’t let you complete the Temperate region to 100%, as even if you unlock the Beavers in the level, it still shows up at the end that you didn’t, thus you can never complete the game. Also the bonus levels from the previous version are now just regular levels. Because the game’s glitch makes it so you can never fully finish it, it is unknown if there are actually more levels as a bonus after you complete the game.
This is the kind of game that’s right up my alley. Calm and quiet, animals and natural scenes, restoring beauty to a wasteland…all of that. But the game is so buggy as to be unplayable. It crashes constantly, sometimes within seconds of loading my saved game even on the lowest settings. Would love to play more but I actually can’t. Edit: was hoping the recent “bug fix and stability” update would help. But now I can’t even load my saved game. Thought I’d see if this was available on PC and it was! BUT, reading the Steam reviews, apparently that version is just as buggy if not more. Resulting in CPU overheats, BSODs, and other failures. Yikes! I’m not downloading that. The graphics and gameplay aren’t complex. My devices aren’t that old. If I had to guess, the coding is overwritten and inefficient as to be causing such a high drain on resources and I don’t think this game can update its way out of that.
I really enjoyed this game for about 20 minutes until it started crashing within 3 minutes every time I opened it. I tried rebooting the game and my device several times, as well as reducing the video quality. Nothing I could think of worked. This game seems like a really cool concept and I want to see where it goes. Please fix the issues!!!
I’m playing this game again after I played it a year ago and had to quit due to a random glitch where it just crashed mid-game. Now the random crashing is starting again. Please fix this! I’m also getting farther - underwater city - and unable to play mini-game without a crash. I mean, I just click on the mini-game and it takes me to iOS Home Screen. I downloaded it via Netflix apps and they have no place to leave comments. Please resolve this issue. Thanks!
I LOVED this game!!! I thought I’d try again today, but they made some interface updates that aren’t great. For one thing, it doesn’t fit on my phone screen anymore so I can’t see all the interfaces because they get stuck under the buttons (even though this phone is bigger than the one I used to play last year). Also, some aspects of the game don’t seem to work (for example, I can’t start fires). I do love that this great game got some more development attention; I just don’t think it was tested well enough before release.
I don’t normally write reviews, but this game is exceptional. Like other Netflix games, it is so refreshing to have no pay-to-win aspect or ads to disrupt gameplay, but this game goes above and beyond to capture your attention and relax your mind. It feels rewarding, progress never slows down (this is what makes Terra nil a success and Godus a fail IMO), and the game is just beautiful. Many reviews mention crashes, but I have never had this issue. Maybe it’s been patched.
Play this game a while 100% and stop playing. Checked back and there was a new update. most of my progress was gone, but I was excited for the new update. It seemed fun, but they’re clearly wasn’t enough play testing before as the were tons of crashes. by the time you read this, it will probably be some bug fixes so please download this game. It’s very good not just a “mobile game”. Devs, please don’t add more. There were enough crashes before the update. Please focus on fixes.
I would LOVE to be able to play this game! I can play the old version on my Nintendo Switch (kinda, I have to close and relaunch the game every 2 levels) but I have NEVER been able to get it to play on iPad. I have all the visuals turned to lowest quality, this iPad is barely 1 year old, I’ve even wiped the iPad back to factory defaults because I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME…but I can’t. Can’t even get through the first level. Super sad. If the developers could fix the crashing issue then this would be an instant 5 stars and I would give them all my money forever.
I am not sure why, but the last update to the game made the end game confusing by removing the animal scanner feature without explanation for the new system. It also led to incessant crashes to the point the game is unplayable unless you’re 9k with re-starting the app every few minutes. Love the game, but I’ll have to take a break until the devs address the issues.
I really love this game. The concept is amazing and the gameplay is fun…when it doesn’t crash. Sadly, like the others, mine crashes even after the update making the game unplayable. I’ll keep it installed for awhile hoping that the next update fixes this. Devs - if you need any device details, let us know.
I loved this game for a long time, so excited for an update but now it crashes constantly. I have restarted iPad, deleted and reinstalled game, cleared space on iPad storage/memory, everything I could think of! But I am LUCKY if I make it to three minutes as others have stated before it crashes, normally within 30 seconds of the map loading it crashes or goes black screen. Please fix this!
I like the new scenarios found on the updated version of Terra Nil, but the game crashes constantly - something the older version did not do. Now I get an average of 45 seconds of play time before it crashes. Terra Nil developers, you have to be seeing the constant reviews that the game crashes since you released the newer version. Please provide an updated version with the bug fixes or at least a “Hey, we see the problem and we’re working on it” message.
This game is thoughtful, nice to look at and fun to play casually. That said, unfortunately after finishing a few different areas the game has become almost unplayable and crashes (even on lowest res) every few minutes making it impossible to continue with. Hope they update soon as this game has great potential and is really enjoyable the time I do actually get to play.
With the release of the new update there’s been a couple glitches I found that makes it difficult to complete the biomes in the game, like in the Flooded City, where tapping on the button for the seed vault automatically crashes the game.
I loved this game when it first came out, so I was excited when I saw they reworked it, but now I’m in the first tropical area and it crashed, and now it won’t load my saved game at all. So I can’t play without restarting from the beginning. Major bummer
The top review saying ‘love it but it crashes’ pretty much sums it up. The game is wonderful and so addictive, so peaceful to play, too, but the crashes are frequent and annoying. Since that review is 1 year old, I’m guessing these crashes aren’t a priority to fix for them. Too bad!
I absolutely love this game. It nice and relaxing, nice graphics and I love the mission with the spaceship. It was cool! I hope they will add more land to estire because I feel like it was a short game. And hopefully they’ll add more animals and terrain. Like a dessert terrain with cactus, scorpions and other cool animals. Awesome game!!
Love this game but….it has so many bugs. It glitches out and crashes constantly. I had switched levels, got to the 3rd phase and I can’t even play for more than a few seconds without it crashing. Please fix it. And allow us to exit a map without loosing all of our progress. I want to start and stop different maps at different points
The original version of this game was great, and the new update expands on the base game in good ways. It isn’t perfect, but it is still definitely worth your time. Such a good game!
The gameplay itself is fun so far, but the buttons on the left side of the screen completely block the animal information display on iPhone 14, making it useless. I’ve seen stuff about it from a year ago, so I guess that’s just an issue they aren’t gonna bother fixing.

Love the app, a lot. It’s beautiful and soothing. But every time I try to open the seed satellite for the final biome in the underwater city the app just crashes. Every time. It doesn’t matter what graphic setting I use, where I am in recycling, how long I’ve had the app open, it just crashes.
There was intermittent crashing here and there, I figured well it’s not such a big deal because it’s a pretty big game so I get it. Now I am on the level with the seed vault, and EVERY time I click on the icon for the seeds the game crashes.
I absolutely love this game. I’m sad that it keeps crashing at the point where I’m meant to be collecting seeds for my seed bank. The game won’t even open for me now.
Absolutely love the gameplay more than any other Netflix game I’ve played before, but it just crashes any time I try to load it up past the first region (keeping in mind that I’ve already tried all of the bug fixes on the website).
During the tutorial, every time I addthe irrigator after the toxin scrubber, the game crashes. I've tried all I can think of and its still happening. Very upsetting.
Need to fix the constant crashing. Can’t get past the first rocket level due to game crashing every time I try to load satellite and collect seeds! Cannot continue level without it!
It crashes a lot. If you can handle having to reload the game every few minutes or restarting the game and losing all your progress several times, when the game works it’s pretty fun. It’s just a roll of the dice whether or not your progress will be saved or there’s a critical error and you have to restart the game altogether. I’ll update my review to have more stars whenever they fix all the critical errors that cause the game to crash constantly.
I love the premise of the game, but am unable to finish the first mission and progress beyond the first biome, despite completing all objectives. This has been an issue through multiple playthroughs.
Let me start off by first saying I havent played this game. Why you might ask? Because I dont have a netflix account. Now why would someone ever want to buy a subscription for a (now) rather lack luster streaming service for the combination of game and streaming? Most wouldnt I would assume, if they dont already have an account. Now whats especially interesting is the other side of things, now you have a game which is just sorta a byproduct of your streaming service. It seems like it would make more sense to have it be a promotional thing for people who have accounts to not pay. Let general use be allowed, even for a short trial period, and then have to pay for it. Thats fine. Both ways you get your money. Its just odd in my opinion to close out a portion of potential users just for a promotional thing that I also think wont work.
Terrible optimization for mobile devices. It overheated my phone and turned itself into a slideshow simulator before I could even finish the tutorial, on the lowest graphics settings.
This game scratches the world building itch I’ve been unable to satisfy since Age of Empires. You are an alien on a wasteland planet working to re-establish the flora and fauna that were previously decimated. Terra Nil has several different difficulties to choose from, and a walkthrough that doesn’t feel tedious and unnecessary. The graphics are beautiful in their simplicity. It’s not hyper realistic, and it doesn’t NEED to be. The animals have little animations, and the simulated rain/snowfall doesn’t crash or slow your gameplay down. Each level introduces you to new features that add to the complexity of the game without being overwhelming. I am a little bit of a perfectionist, so I love that it’s SUPER simple to restart a level as many times as you want without any repercussions. It also auto saves, so if you have to duck out in the middle of a level, you can come right back to it when you have time. The map is also different every restart, so the replay value is high. The only reason I haven’t given it five stars is due to the preset resolution not being optimal for the average cell phone. It was too large, and the game menu covered the animal gauges, so I was unable to see what my animals were lacking in space/food/water. Luckily, this is an adjustable option under settings- but it did take me a while to figure out. Also, I did notice that some of the levels that require you to place a building over a current one/or the fire starting building seem to glitch out if you accidentally click on a local animals species inhabiting that same area. You then have to edit out of the new building and retry it as many times as it takes. I also selfishly wish there were animal/nature/earth facts, but I don’t downgrade the devs for that. It’s just something I feel would add to the overall experience. I don’t understand the low rating this game currently has, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a city building sim with a different twist. 9/10!!!
I saw the trailer for this game two days before it released and I instantly wanted to play it. When it finally released, I started the game and created a new world. Then it crashed. I thought nothing of it and started the game again. This time, it actually loaded and i could play it. It was wonderful, I love the gameplay and art style. Then I got to the part where It starts raining. It crashed. I booted it back up again, loaded in and it was extremely laggy. The lag calmed down in a few seconds and I tried to place down the ship when it crashed. Now I know something is wrong. I start the game, load the world and instead of moving the camera, I leave it be to see if it crashes. It seems fine and I zoom out and it crashes for the third time in a row. I just stop trying at this point. Then I noticed that my battery went from 80 to 62 in 7 minutes of gameplay. I would company of heroes on here and it would take five minutes to drop one percent. I hope, since the game just released, that this is all fixed and works properly as it updates. I really loved the first few minutes that I played it for and would love to play the rest of the game.

A very fun puzzle/strategy game that just feels good to play. Amazing graphics, the theme of building from the ground up, it was a blast. It was a solid few hours before I finished the regular difficulty, which is a shame that there aren’t more levels. There wasn’t much wrong with the game, either. I never crashed, and while there were some minor bugs with object placement, it was never a setback given that I could back out of it. You don’t really have to replay a level either. At then end you have some excess currency to remodel and obtain all objectives in a single goal. Even if you do have to reset, you can reset only your current phase which makes planning for what comes ahead much easier. Very easy, fun one-time playthrough, would probably play again, certainly if more levels are released.
The game itself is great, but it almost feels as if bugs are built into the game on purpose to make the gameplay hours longer. You are expected to replay the same regions and phases multiple times before you pass. Once is a learning experience but multiple times is just annoying. The tutorials and tips aren’t very useful. It’s more of a trial and error process. It sometimes looses your progress which adds to the number of times you must re-play the same part. It’s 4 stars if you don’t mind not being able to finish the game - but 3 if you really were enjoying playing and ran into bugs. There’s a bug at the end where you can’t recall the satellite to complete the last mission. A quick google search may provide some tips.
This game was fun. There are certain aspects that make it challenging, but also fit within the theme of the game. For example when you place a building, you can’t relocate it (at least initially). So it’s kind of like chess where you are thinking a few moves ahead. There are some issues with the game that prevent this from being 5 stars. For example, there are some actions in the game that could use a few more details. Like how to leverage monorails, perform a satellite recall, and the secondary use of some buildings. Additionally, there is a seed gathering mini game where the controls are somewhat obstructed by existing UI elements. All of these amounted to minor inconveniences that a google search solved, or just being careful when pressing buttons. Nevertheless, it’s fun and would recommend.
This is quite possibly the most innovative game I have played. I absolutely loved the gameplay and the increasing levels of difficulty with each biome as the game progressed. That being said, flaws in the game coding made gameplay quite frustrating at times. In the final level, when I was collecting seeds, the satellite interface would randomly exit, dumping me back into the main screen and exiting the biome I was collecting from. The location of the interface buttons also have entirely too much overlap, meaning that sometimes I was unable to scroll because the directional arrows were directly underneath the main game menu. The in-game help was also less than useful at times, requiring me to exit the game and do an internet search to solve my problems. Honestly, if they took the time to fix the GUI, in-game guide, and coding issues, this game would deserve 5 stars. Pros: — innovative — engaging — challenging — extremely fun Cons: — badly designed GUI with too much overlap of clipping paths — poorly coded interface — errors made gameplay extremely frustrating at times — needs an update to address coding errors
Sim City brought me in to the gaming world many many years ago so this game really brought me back. This is obviously Netflix but I’d like to know more about the company that actually developed the game because this is a great unique spin on a building-simulation/strategy game. I would say that the game is in its early stages with some minor UI issues but I don’t think it’s worth losing a star over. It hit the top 50 for strategy games already so Netflix will probably fork over some money to the developers to get those issues updated soon. I see many people having issues about getting stuck in certain sections of the game but I haven’t had those issues. Also, I think the crashes are dependent on what type of device you use too; which will also be fixed shortly. I don’t see Terra Nil throwing in micro-transactions in the future either so if you’re looking for something to kill some time while getting your Zen on, the core of this game should be good for years to come.
