Better than the Tesla app

New Tesla owner here! I did a lot of research and when I found this app I must say I was scared of the price tag if you purchase our right but after a trail I saw the value. I recommend this app for any Tesla owner new and old. It’s way better than the Tesla app and gives me more details. The developers really did there thing with this app. I would like to see a future update specifically for Apple Watch but until then I will just add a widget to my watch. Even with that one item as a wish list thing it’s still 5 stars! I do plan on purchasing it in full at some point so I will continue to pay monthly as I know the value it provides. It can only get better with time but at that point I’m speechless bc it’s just that good!!

Amazing app - made by ONE man

Tessie has done an amazing job at creating a new API that is eons faster and more reliable than the Tesla one. Basic actions execute faster and more often. The ability to track every drive, charge, and battery health as well as export all data in CSV format is an incredibly useful tool for us nerds. No app compares to Tessie, it has saved me countless times when needing to find details about car location history for turo rentals and tax time for calculating uber miles driven. Awesome app and super useful features! it is amazing that this app is made only by one single person and he responds to technical questions within hours whereas Tesla does not respond to any questions without automated calls spinning you in circles.

Exactly what I’ve been waiting for!

Been using a web-only service for the last year and it’s been solid, but reallllly wanted something great on mobile. THIS IS IT! Beautifully designed and so many great features. Can’t believe it was just recently released. Would’ve expected something more bare bones and features to be added with time, but it’s already solid. The one thing that was holding me back was the inability to import data from my previous service, but that just changed so here I am, and it’s glorious. Thanks, Tessie! Looking forward to future updates. Would love to see you take advantage of the new Home Screen widgets in iOS 14, but I’m sure you’re already working on it!

Clean, highly functional app, regular updates, and incredible support

I almost never write reviews, but I feel compelled to write this one given how good this app looks, how functional it is, the continuous stream of updates, and the incredibly response support. When I got my Tesla just over a year ago, I tried out several web and iOS apps. I assumed I would mostly use TeslaFi given it is the standard and the comprehensiveness of the logging. However, a native iOS app was still appealing, particularly for Apple Watch functionality, and I found Tessie to be the cleanest and most functional, at a reasonable annual subscription price. Over the past year, I have seen regular and substantial feature upgrades. I also made a feature suggestion which was implemented within a week or two, and received one-and-done support and a fix for an edge case bug on an evening within the hour. Incredible. I essentially never even look at TeslaFi any more, and use Tessie on a daily basis - probably as important as the Tesla app itself. Cannot recommend enough.

Great app!

Great app overall, very useful and in-depth details about trips, charging, and battery status. One neat thing would be software versions and what cars have what, when a new update has been detected etc. Well worth the cost, and I actually got the lifetime subscription! One small complaint is the app used to show the scheduled time to start charging at the top right under the plug front and center but a recent update took that convenience away either unintentionally or intentionally- you now have to scroll down to the card to see that information for some reason. Hopefully it can get put back to where it was originally.

Amazing for Data Tracking

I downloaded this app before I took delivery of my MYP and didn’t know what to expect. I quickly realized that this is the best app to have if you are into tracking data over time, not to mention while doing so on a beautiful, easy to use app. I often tap and hold on the graphs to zoom into more precise data readings of energy uses on drives, idles, etc. I think the $200 for lifetime use is a bit pricey but I will write that off over the years of Tesla ownership. If I had one request to the developers: Please find a way to let us view Sentry Mode both live and after recorded events.

Suggestion for Tablets

Hello, so I would love to add two iPads, one behind each seat in my Model Y to give the interior a higher end look while providing passengers with options such as changing the temperature and adjusting seat warmers. This app would be so perfect if it had a “tablet” mode where it shifts into landscape and gives an even simpler UI for passengers. They should only be able to view the controls, climate, and location. Additionally, allowing us to launch the app in either Full View mode (like now) or Tablet mode to provide a seamless experience. I hope you guys give this a consideration. Great app so far.

Seriously Awesome

Just when I think there couldn’t be any improvement, I”m wowed by another cool feature added. I love how the app is actively being improved and the insane amount of data and features available. The apps UI is very intuitive and slick, everything works great! The shortcuts are the best part, I use Siri to open my trunk hands free and warm my car up, I love it. I have my sons Tesla set to let me know when he speeds, it helps keep him in check knowing I will get a push notification if he gets wild! Thanks for such an amazing app and thanks for continually working on it. I’m a Tessie user for life!

The Best App for Tesla

This app has many great features. I have been using this app since it’s inception. James is a very talented developer and his response times are amazing. He replies to all your questions as soon as possible. I really appreciate the app support. This is very significant and I would never use an app that doesn’t have good support. Also, when the app is updated, it has lot of meaningful features. It has a detailed release notes unlike other that say “bug fixes”. Overall, I am very happy with the app. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and everyone.

Everything the Tesla app should have

This app is so well-designed and has a lot of big improvements over the Tesla app. I like that it shows a more realistic range for my current battery level, and that it shows a more accurate estimate of what each trip is costing me (plus easy tagging for business people), but the best feature is the reminder that you forgot to plug it in! I have mine set for 9pm each evening and I’m sure it’ll save me a lot of trouble and expense just for that feature that will more than pay for the reasonable price of the app. Thanks!!!

This app is a MUST, I love it so much.

There are an ocean of monthly fees to pay and questionable ROI for most. Not here. The more time you wait, the longer you’ll live without really understanding your car. There are so many useful metrics and reports in Tessie to build confidence and comfort in driving all electric. 10 years from now we’ll take all of this for granted, in the meantime this app is here to help you see real stats and deepen your appreciation of the tech in your car. Short of installing a canbus reader, Tessie gives you all the detail you might want. Critical little features, like telling us what time the charge will be complete, but just how many minutes are left. Automations allow for creative vehicle management like maximizing free charging benefits you might have or ensuring you don’t pop that breaker in moms old home while visiting by setting amps on arrival. You’re just not going to be disappointed with this software.

Clean, Intuitive, Perfect!

I have tried almost all third app Tesla apps but came back to this one. The clean modern UI seals the deal for me. Behind the beautiful interface the app is so functionally perfect. All controls and information are placed right where one would need them. Additionally the Siri shortcuts are easy to setup and very helpful. I would like to know if the developer has plans of implementing the following - - An iOS 14 widget for quick glance at the current charge, and may be one or two main controls like lock/unlock or turn on climate. - A graph to show phantom drain. Nonetheless the app is perfect. Glad I subscribed to it.

DIdn't really know what to expect, but I've heard good things. Good news, it's all true!

The functionality of Tessie is everything you'd get from the Tesla app, except with all the data and anlytics you could ever want. It doesn't necessarily extend functionality in any way as a phone key, but it provides very useful and *fun* insights into all kinds of things... so much data that some of it isn't even practically useful, but if you're a data nerd and love combing over data, this app is aboslutely for you. Needless to say I'm very happy with it.

10x better than Tesla app

This app does everything one would want out of the Tesla app, and more. It’s totally worth the subscription price, and even worth it without it for those that just need a little more. With that said, for the developer: -would love to have exclusion dates for automations, such as US federal government holidays. -would love to have more detail marks on graphs -would love to be able to check for car software updates -would love to have follow the sun options for settings, such as “from sunset to sunrise”, etc.

Tons of cool features, great support too

Such a great tool.. I'm able to see and catalog/label every drive I've ever taken in my telsa. The automations are reliable, and so much fun to use. Every time I've thought of something I wish Tessie would do, the support team either points out that it can already be done, or works at getting it implemented. I recently traded in my tesla for a new one, and I was amazed at how seamless the transition was.. everything in my Tesla account "just worked" in Tessie. Beautiful.

Not worth it

I subscribed to it mainly for the Apple Watch key ability in my 2023 Model Y. It’s a bit buggy and requires persistent attention to get it to work on my Apple Watch Ultra 2. I don’t feel comfortable leaving my phone behind. It is NOT worth the continuous subscription for the unreliable convenience. I canceled. I would pay a one time fee just for the Apple Watch key access though with the hopes it would more reliably connect in the future. Edit: Thanks for the response. It’s an Apple Watch Ultra 2 and my car is 2023 Model Y. I keep all my software at the most current (non-beta) version of everything in my digital life.

Cool app pricing out of control

Check the historical pricing on this one. It’s outpaced inflation more than university tuition. It stopped working well with my 2 cars. I stopped my subscription which was $5.99 and see they raised the price to $15 per single vehicle and $20 for multiple per month. Simply not worth it. There is nothing the app does that is worth $15-$20 a month. Developer responded to this that Tesla is now charging 3rd parties to access their API. Tesla doing their best to extract as much money as possible while taking things away from consumers. Very cool, Elon. Very cool.

Hands down best customer service

New Tesla owner, I would delete the Tesla app if I could and only use Tessie. The app is amazing, but the customer service is why I’m writing this review. Kiel was absolutely amazing in helping me figure out why my vehicle wasn’t syncing with the app. He was excellent at communicating the problem, and guaranteed he would fix it that day. Even as the day got late and into the evening, at 8:35est he emailed me to let me know the issue had been resolved. Customer for life.

Updating my 4-star to a 5-star rating

Tessie just keeps getting better and better. It’s really awesome to see the developer continually improve this app on a very regular basis so I’m upgrading my 4-star rating to a 5. Based on how much it has improved in just a little over a month, I’m making the decision to stick with Tessie and stop evaluating the other apps, even though they are also making updates and improving. Tessie gets my vote for the best app out there for Tesla owners who want to understand how their vehicle is performing.

Love this app! And possible automation

I’ve only had this app for about five hours, but I’m already really liking it. Love being able to ask Siri to do things for me! One thing I would really like in the automation is that when I come home the rear camera app opens. I use the rear camera to let me know when I should stop in my garage. Just a thought. I always turn the camera on, but if I could automate it, that would be really cool. Again love the app!

Must have

It’s one of those apps if you don’t use it , you don’t even know what you’re missing but once you use it, you don’t want to go back to Tesla app at all; I use it now exclusively for my teslas; just paid for the lifetime membership today !! Only wish is to have a schedule where car will not be charged( like a block charge for certain time frame) at all instead of creating an automation.

Good but just not worth it

I really wanted to like this. Actually I did, it was a great looking app. However, in the end, it just didn’t do enough to justify spending over $60 a year on it when there are so many other comparable apps with a one time purchase. People are getting tired of every app becoming subscription-based and this one is definitely doesn’t make the cut for a “must-have” when the official Tesla app comes close to the same, as well as other third party apps that offer close to the same functionality. Make this $10 or even $20 and I’ll buy it, but I’m not subscribing to it.

EDIT: See original review below if interested. I had to restore purchases when attempting to integrate my watch or any other device. Thanks for the response. Changed the price on us! Loved the app until I get kicked out from my apple watch integration, all to find out it’s because you guys started charging $14 a month for it instead of including it in the $6 a month subscription.

Meh…just larger graphed info already in Tesla app. Too short a trial to really evaluate if expanded info is worth $60/year. UPDATE: Offering an individual (me) an extended trial just because I pointed out the trials shortness does not impress me. Do a longer trial (like 90+ days) for everyone or just make the trial forever with a few key (premium) features disabled. Even paid, $60/year is way to much for this simple app & its duplication of what is already available (Tesla app)but with added graphs. Most (& myself) would probably bite @ $4.99…one & done, NOT monthly or even yearly. Sorry, this app is just not essential, but merely a simple showy expansion of info already available.

Great support and best one yet

So I’m a techie and I typically find a lot of apps missing what I want or request. This app delivers and the developer responded super fast with a few feature requests. He also provided me a simple way to set up automation with the app to use with Siri and it’s incredible. I tried 3 other free trials and this is the app I’m sticking with. I see amazing updates coming down the line in the near future and see it surpassing the others very soon. Keep up the great work !!

Simple Yet Thorough

After buying my Tesla two years ago I have been looking for something that I can utilize on my iPhone and Watch that gave me “more” than the underwhelming OEM Tesla application does. I’ve tried several - I didn’t need any crazy in-depth reports and charts that I couldn’t read or understand, what I needed was simple, straight forward, and easy to understand data… this is the one that fits my needs!

Need Galaxy watch support

This app is so awesome. I especially like how broken-out the data is, where you can really drill down into the displayed analytics - more than the regular Tesla app can provide. My only issue is the lack of Samsung Galaxy watch support, which I read was going to be available, so I had to get another app—DRIVE ELECTRIC—that allows that support… but I am paying for 2 separate apps, instead of just Tessie.

Great app!

I was going to cancel this but and then I discovered notifications. I use the notifications the most now. I did not even know they were there. I wish you could change the notification sound. Because now it is like a regular text message. The other useful info is battery degradation And the efficiency report per trip. Well worth the money.

I love Tessie!

This is a must have app if you own a Tesla! The amount of info and breakdowns are amazing. For your “EV skeptic” friends, just show them how much $ you save with the stats from Tessie and they’ll change their mind quick! I love how you can name any location and it remembers it… you always have a list of places you visited. It keeps track of everything. And the support is amazing.

Another subscription

I signed up for the trial to see how much more info I could get out of my Tesla. Tessie does provide a little more info than the Tesla app and it breaks down each trip with analytics like how much battery was used between each trip and your max speed and distance during that trip. It even has a mapped history of your trips and battery efficiency which I like. However, like Tesla’s app, it’s not very sleek looking and, in my opinion, is not enough to warrant forking over $5/ month.

Email unsubscribe link did not work

It would be nice if ‘Try it free’ button had a link to video on the purpose of the app and prices before I allow it info to connect to my car. Having a button to accept the free trial would be nice as well. Not sure why there is not a demo mode so it works without the car info. or has limited features without car connection. I don’t want any app connecting to my car. I decided not to use after it wanted to connect to my car.

Charging Schedule

I absolutely love this app!! the only thing that i wish it had was a charging schedule. there are some apps that allow you to set a schedule with specific charges for specific days within the week. they also allow for a “safety percentage” that you can set so that your car will never be below that charge.

What info is lacking in the Tesla app?

This app very succinctly shows you almost anything that you wish to know. Getting text messages from Tessie is never not applicable. It’s useful to see what helpful info can be shared. Your car is happy and you can relax and feel secure in knowing what your car is doing and where at all and any times.

Solid, well designed

I’ve really enjoyed using this for the last month. It’s beautifully designed and I love the granular stats on the battery. The only complaint is the weather display for outside the car is often inaccurate, showing precipitation when there is none. Overall, well worth the yearly price.

Data lovers need Tessie!

Love the app and all of the info it provides! I use it more often than the Tesla app. One of my favorite features is you can turn “auto wake” off, so when you open Tessie, it won’t wake your car until you perform an action like opening the trunk. HEAPS of data about charging, drives, idles, cost projections, and more!

Great use case when car is in for service too

Awesome app! Great data… Tesla disables the Tesla app when you have it in for service. Tessie allows you to continue to monitor your vehicle. No cameras, but I could see my car being moved around in the collision shop for a few days. Knew it was done when I saw a 9 mile test drive.

Best iPhone Tesla app - but still missing a few key things

Tried TeslaFi, TeslaScope, Stats, Tezlab, Nikola, and Tessie. I pick TeslaFi and Tessie for now. I’d like to just use one, but TeslaFi is missing a mobile app and economic ability to support multiple cars, and Tessie is missing: 1) trips / roadtrips. I like to share my roadtrip info with friends. 2) better more concise visuals of analytics like TeslaFi 3) IOS shortcut “send destination to car” action 4) iOS shortcut “get destination from car” action 5) Calendar views by month and year with applicable stats via their web interface like TeslaFi. What they do have is 50% of that but I can’t easily go to March of last year and get all my driving/charging stats and compare to this year.

Not necessary, Worth having

I’ve been using Tessie for about a month. It’s definitely worth it for me. I use the watch app often. The scheduling options go further then the regular Tesla app. I use it for very specific off peak charging and preconditioning at work. The graphs are fun tools to satisfy my nerdy need for the extra information.

Best Tesla App

I tested all Tesla apps and this is the best. You should give it a try. Has complete driving history, complete phantom drain history. A lot of info into the charge section like volts amps on a certain date Woulf be good if you can make also apple watch version and some website to access the data from a laptop

Powerful and rapidly expanding

Tessie is astounding! I was hesitant to pay the subscription a few months ago, but in those few months Tessie has added (and continues to add!) New tools and features. This app went from tracking my battery for fun, to being a fundamental part of my Tesla ownership experience. Highly recommend.

Missing trips and information

The app has become less reliable recently. It’s missing entire trips in my history or partial trips. For instance, yesterday it doesn’t have my trip home from work. The day before it has me starting my trip to work a few miles from work instead of several miles earlier at home where I really started it. Used to love the app but it’s not working well now.

Can’t logon with 2FA - Update: Fixed!

I use 2FA on my Tesla account. Tessie doesn’t allow me to connect the app to my Tesla account without disabling 2FA. Edited to 3 stars: After I disabled 2FA and connected Tessie I enabled my 2FA again and Tessie still is connected to my Tesla account. Time will tell if it continues working. Edited to 5 stars: 2FA has been added as well as other features. I appreciate a responsive dev team!

Good app, lots of data, but I don't need it.

It works well, no glitches, has lots of data and is interesting for a couple of days, but I just want to drive my car and don't care about anything the app offers. If you are a data geek, you might love it. 5 stars for the app minus 1 star because I don't care about the features. If you do, don't hesitate to install it.

Just a few things that bug me to death.

Why can't the interface fit on the screen of my iPad Pro? Why does the interface consist of buttons ten times the size they need to be? Why did the designers make sure that there is as little contrast as possible between the lettering and the background? Do they think we like struggling to read apps? The charts are very useful. Why isn't there a way to export them? You can't even screenshot them because the useful information is carefully sprawled out so that it's bigger than the screen. Why do we have to look at drifting clouds and drizzling rain that make it harder to see what we need to see? Otherwise, decent app.

Reliable Automation

We have two Teslas and really enjoy the benefits of Alexa routines made possible using Tessie… specifically, using Alexa to manage climate, get range, get location, and set charge limit all with voice commands, not opening an app, or even carrying a phone around the house. This made a lifetime subscription worthwhile.

Fun Data + Great Functionality

Heard about Tessie through TMC forums where the developer is very active and was able to get it connected to my car just a few days after purchasing my first Tesla. The data insight make my inner nerd smile. The functionality is top notch as well. I’ve got automations in place to ensure my car is at my preferred temperature before I go to work. The Apple Watch key functionality is a great backup. I’m confident that this is just going to get better and better. Keep up the great work and kudos to the developer for being so open to feedback and suggestions on TMC. Top notch!

The Tesla official app is nearly useless when you’ve got this app. Tessie checks all the boxes and provides me with more information than I’ll ever need. If you’re a car nerd like me and want to know the most about your car, this app is for you.

Love the app. Some features are disabled due to Tesla known issues, but the data alone and the fact that it’s not sold to third parties will keep me here. Once the watch key is enabled (as I know it’s a work in progress) that will bring this puppy full circle. Thanks team!
