The app works well. I primarily use it to know when the cleaners may come as I work from home and need to plan where I’ll take any meetings. Right now, the app will not reveal the time window until after 8am. PLEASE for the sake of all of us reveal the time window earlier, or the night before. I understand it may change but having a sense if they are coming at 9am (me being the first house) or 11am (me being the third or fourth house) drastically changes how my day goes planning for them.
I give a 3 because their phone customer service is timely. But if I were to base it solely on quality of cleaning and reliability, I’d give it a 2. They have a perfect business model on paper but the reality of their service falls short. Surfaces are not cleaned to the level they advertise. We always have mold and mildew left in our bathtub grout and caulk as well as the faucet. “Hand-wiped” surfaces are breezed over. Furthermore, they have called 6+ times the day of our assigned cleanings to say that they cannot service us and need to reschedule. We pay $170 twice per month and sometimes the cleaners are at our house for less than 60 minutes if there is a pair of them. The limited time and the resulting lack of high quality cleaning is confirmation that $170 is too expensive. We recently got an email that their prices will be going up in order to uphold their high quality of service. We’ve given them so much grace because we NEED a cleaning service but we cannot rationalize the poor quality anymore and today we are canceling our services with them. My hope for this review is to guide prospective clients elsewhere and/or help the Cleaning Authority realize that their true business model needs to improve.
I’ve been using TCA for housecleaning for a few years now. At some point earlier this year, the app stopped giving me notifications that the cleaners were on their way. I’ve done all the standard troubleshooting steps (restarting phone, logging out of the app and back in, resetting notification settings, deleting and reinstalling app, updating to current OS update), and none of it has changed a thing. Since my cleaning is on a two-week rotation, it’s taken me a few months to try and test the possibilities. The “App Support” link in the listing just goes to TCA’s website, which has no apparent link for app support, so I’m forced to put my issue into a review in the hopes that they’ll see it and do something about it. I haven’t taken it down to one star only because I can still get the ETA range from the app (though I’ll reiterate another reviewer’s comments about 8 am being way too late to release the ETA, especially since my regular cleaning team told me that they get their daily schedule much earlier than that). So TCA, please fix this issue!
This rating is for the APP, not the cleaning service. You can find out when the next cleaning is and set up notifications for an upcoming clean (as if you don’t know when it’s a set schedule…), a notification when cleaning crew is on the way and when done with cleaning (which is helpful so I know when to set the house alarm off and back on). But thats it? Would be helpful if the app allowed for better communication with the cleaners coming in whereby you can send a message to them directly. Such as if you have someone coming over at a certain time and want to avoid a specific time frame but not the whole cleaning, and you want to ask about time options for the day to avoid coming in too early for that one day. It would be convenient and helpful if the app offered more than “here’s when your next cleaning is” and “your crew is coming / just finished”
We’ve been customers for two years. The cleaning service was so-so: good some weeks, less so others, and hit-or-miss because we kept being sent different people rather than a consistent crew. Recently it took a turn for the worse when the cleaning crew refused to wear masks inside our house. We’re in a city which still has a local mask mandate for businesses, and on top of that we explained that due to some health concerns I am at high risk even after vaccination, but they ignored this and said they were unwilling to wear masks. Well in that case we’re unwilling to have this business in our home. The iOS app itself is mediocre, nothing special but an OK way to get notifications. Disappointingly it does not provide a way to view the time of day for future scheduled cleanings, which can be problematic since the crew comes at different times of day unpredictably. Not recommended.
The app fails in two major ways: 1) Notification of cleaning times: the times are only added the day of, which leaves you very little time to prep if you’re the first clean of the day. More importantly, however, there should be a notification when the time changes! Right now, I have to open the app and refresh ad hoc to see if the time has changed. 2) Request for new services: the app currently just lets me see what is planned, but there are no options to request new services. There are some requests that I understand may need new quotes, but there are others that don’t. Like cleaning the fridge or oven, a basement that has already been quoted, or even a place to request a new quote would be great.
I’ve utilized The Cleaning Authority for years. Great service at reasonable prices. The app is minimal and terrible. Sure, I can see the date of my cleaning, however working from home I need to know the target window and See the timeframe in the app. An alert comes up however I frequently miss it or am unable to actually see the time (visual impairment requires a larger than typical screen font). Updates need to include a running history of notifications and the cleaning details view needs to show the “arrival window” details or “ETA” especially when the team is on the way.
I only use the app twice a month - to see what time the team left the office. That allows me an hour to make sure my elderly Mother is up, dressed & out of her bedroom so they can strip the bed etc. And toup the tips when they do an exceptional clean :) EVERY time WITHOUT FAIL, the app has LOGGED ME OUT & no longer recognizes my password!!! I’m using an iPhone 12; all up to date!!! This has been the pattern for a year now!!! And then I’m locked OUT & have to call the office to get back into my account !!! Plz allow the app to use facial rec - this would bypass this bug that renders the app useless. PLEASE !!!!
All people involved, from manager through housekeepers, they are the best and trustworthy of people. I feel safe and comfortable in my home with them in it doing their job and knowing that is all they are doing. There is no snooping or anything with them. This is a blessing and not many people like them.
We chose The Cleaning Authority after trying several other companies. They have proven to be the very best cleaning service we have ever had. Especially our favorite staff - Dorca and Jennifer. At least for my cleaning office, i literally NEVER know the next scheduled cleaning date until literally 24 hours prior which is very frustrating. I am pretty sure it is a local office issue, as they always tell me the check the app but it doesn’t work. Perhaps fix this, thanks. Ps- it USED to work great but about 2 months ago it went to crap. I used to have plenty of notice on my next cleaning, now it’s “info unavailable” up until 24 hours to the cleaning.
I recently scheduled my first clean with The Cleaning Authority and was impressed with their professionalism, thorough cleaning process, and management review system. The team was respectful of my home and very kind to our cat. I highly recommend this company!
There are several buttons on the app that do not respond. One is the extra rooms section that does not respond or provide options as the illustrations indicate.
We have used The Cleaning Authority almost a year & have been very pleased. The young ladies are very professional & get the job done quickly & efficiently!
I’d like to see an estimated cleaning time included weekly. Also, had some credit card fraud and couldn’t delete my card for a while and pay manually. Need that flexibility in emergencies.
Not as thorough as I would like. Would fine areas that were not attended to that were specifically meant to be taken care of during their cleaning. We parted ways.
My first Deep Clean and the arrival time has been pushed out 3 times. There is NO place on the app for the customer to make comments. Not an auspicious introduction.
First - this review is for the app and their security practices… not the cleaning service itself. My original experience with the app was fine. I used it to modify upcoming scheduled cleanings. I recently opened the app for the first time in a while and saw that it had logged me out. When trying to log back in, all I get is an error that just says “undefined”. I know that my username and password were correct since I have them saved in a password manager. I called them to have them make the cleaning change I needed and see if they could assist with my account. The first thing that was tried was for them to reset my password. I hung up and tried the new password and got the same “undefined” error, so apparently there is nothing that can be done for me to use the app again. I called back a second time and spoke with a different person. Here is the security practice issue: the second person was able to see what my updated password was! Evidently they are stored in plaintext (or at least in a way that they are able to view them), which is completely unacceptable!
