Easy to Use but missing features.

The user interface is very easy - just drag and drop or browse for the file you want to convert, pick the output format, and then move it from the downloads folder into your project folder. This works especially well with docx documents, and supports the formatting you've set up an the title and author set in properties. There is not a way to incorporate a book cover, so you only see the title and author on the cover.

Does what it is supposed to do, but slowly, lamely

Good interface that is easy to understand and simply upload to get a completed file... but this is little more than a website wrapper that they are selling a subscription to. It has NO bulk features, it has NO Settings about conversions, it has NO ability to modify the process at all— heck, you can't even tell it to SAVE to a different location. Plus we have to take it on TRUST that the files are ACTUALLY being encrypted and removed afterward. There is no transparency on that claim, there is no transparency to the process, and there is little reason to pay $6 a month for something that you can pay $4 more for in order to get a lifetime access subscription. I don't understand why you *would* do that, as there are better and more *FREE* versions of that out there that can actually do bulk processing, and doesn't treat you like an idiot with its interface. Maybe do it for a free converter during the trial if you need something quick and dirty that needs an easy 3 minute solution, but I don't recommend paying the pric they're asking for it.

Easy to try - a great value for what it does

You're right. The size limitations on the free version don't let you do very much, but it's easy to do a test run. Just trim down the PDF doc you want to convert to the 5MB size limit in Preview and give it a shot. I found that the epub it produced had a working table of contents and all the nice epub features in Apple Books. From that point on, the $9.99 lifetime version did well taming some heavily illustrated software manuals that ran close to 1,000 pages. I'm assuming its mobi conversion will do as well for Kindle users. No frills really, but it creates a totally rightous epub with all the expected epub features.

Almost Useful to Create mobi Files

At $10 for a lifetime license, The Ebook Converter could be a great tool. But it misses the mark. In converting, it identified a number of slips I'd made in formattting. But it also failed to format copy I'd handled correctly. All the chapter titles after chapter 6 were offset to the right... for no reason. The app insists on creating a 2nd, non-functional, TOC at the end of a file. And the title page refuses to format consistently. Which looks like crap. On the plus side, the app is incredibly easy to use... and I haven't explored beyong converting a docx file to mobi. But that's the main reason I bought this app. To those who complain the free functions are limited, come on. Do you expect everyone to hand you everything for free? App developers have to make a living, too. And $10 for a lifetime license is a freaking bargain. Here's the deal: No app should have major faults... even at $10. On the other hand, if the developer cleans up these bugs, they'll have a killer app on their hands.

Very Intuitive Interface

You can't get any easier to use than this app (even if it is just selecting an input file and delivering an output file). There are many output choices from which to pick, and perhaps a short expanation of each format would be good (although this might exist, as it asked me to review after only a few conversions). We shall see, although it's quick enough to try several formats.

Easy but slow

Pretty straight forward operation. It's okay for occasional conversions but I have several to do and it is teadious and slow in that I can only do one at a time, wait for it to convert, then reset the app for drag & drop the next one. Would be great to be able to drop several ebooks for batch conversion - and come back later to reap the results. Would be worth paying for that.

great, minor suggestions

Great. Very helpful, I hate epub, clumsy. I highhlight and resarch and pdf is much better for that. Suggestions: 1) stop making user clear out prior conversion manually, 2) stop making user select format being converted to (let the pick a default).

Great job doing what it says it will

I have several business books and wanted something that would put the text into a digital form that was easy to notate reference and such. This program does exactly that. It even takes books that are a bit difficult for other programs and converts them to forms I can use.

a great app if you convert a lot of files

Buy the lifetime pass if you convert a lot of files. I've had the app for quite a while and converted many files. I love how easy it has been to flawlessly convert between any types of file I've run into. This is one of the most useful apps I have.

Capabilities and trial

I tried to convert a .MHTML file into other formats three times. I chose .TCR first, and Ebook Converter chewed on the input file, never returning anything. I stopped it after about ten minutes. I tried .PDF next and was overjoyed when it returned a file after about two minutes. I opened the .PDF, only to find what must have been a slab of the language Adobe sends to print PDFs after Postscript. I tried .MOBI next and after a couple of minutes I got something back. Calibre and ebook-viewer could not display the contents of the file. Kindle did, but the fragments of text looked more like a Scrabble game dumped on the floor. I was just an hour or so into my three-day trial, but when I went to cancel my subscription, it canceled a twelve month subscription. A trial period was not mention nor was it recognized.

a MUST for college students

I have bought both the lifetime versions for iOS and MacOS. This app cannot get enough praise. It is a literal lifesaver for students. I am able to quicly convert files through a workflow that makes sense and is speedy. Thank you for your work!

Cool but page#-less

This is a great app. No question. For a scholar it is problematic because the source material for some ebooks don't have page numbers and that flaw carries through into the conversion. To source these books for citations, most style guides have recommendations.

Recognize Purchase Probelm

I've already paid for the permanent purchase, but keeps getting reminded to buy the app. I have to keep pressing the "restore purchase" a few times before the app will move forward.

No Bulk conversion, converts on a server

No bulk support, you have to convert one at a time. Related, all the conversions are done over a server, not locally, which means a few things: * Its slower, if you have a fast machine * It's dependent on the developer maintaining the server, take care if you purchase the lifetime version - support could end if their servers go offline. * It relys on an internet connection to use the app

Does not work.

Any PDF of even moderate size will require you to make an In App Purchase for a “seasonal” or “lifetime” pass. The app is effectively a pay app that presents itself as otherwise. That isn’t the problem. The program simply does not convert as advertised. Even the most plain text of PDFs cannot convert to various edoc files. I experimented with various files over the course of six hours while working. The success rate for conversion was 15%. That does not warrant a purchase.

Useless to me

Look for a different solution. I needed to convert Word .doc & .docx files to Kindel format .mobi. The product sauys is does this. Then you find it only does it if you purchase an upgrade first. I should have stopped there. My bad. I purchased the upgrade only to find that it distroied the formatting qnd made the resulting Kindle file unuesable for me. it would load byt wasn't worth reading. I contacted the developer and asked for a refund and was told Opps, sorry can't do that. What a scam!

Not as advertised

I paid for this app hoping to convert PDF books into ebook format like it says it will, instead I get an unreadable format of literally 17,000 pages with 3 or 4 sentences on each page, no table of contents, and no way to navigate the book. Just horrible. And according to this app, every single nickname in existence is somehow taken so I had to make a super long name. They trying to avoid any negative posts.

It's a joke

Just downloaded the app, which says free, but then to do anything you have to pay a subscription. I did pay it and the book don't get converted. I did everything by their instructions and you can't see nothing at the end of the conversion. Biggest scam ever for $9.99 Why two stars - because they were good in making me believe that this will actually work!

Just use the free online tools

Downloaded this app thinking it would be a tool to use locally on my computer; however, the first epub to pdf conversations all resulted in error messeges. Then, the 10 page pdf to epub conversion took nearly an hour to upload to their server somwhere and convert. Why pay a monthly subscription for this when it does exactly what the free online tools do?

Easy to Use

I have to convert epub files to mobi frequently and I haven't found an easier, or more effecient app to that with. So glad I found this one.

Piece of cake

downloaded and converted a mobi to epub within seconds. Click and drag the file into the window and select output format. Haven't tried PDF making but assume it will be more complicated.

App is slow. And, can only process a single file at a time. Feels like it just kicks out the document to an online web processor, which you could do for free without buying the app. It also doesn't let you specify where to save the output. I did not find any added value in a stand alone app.

Not worth the money

I bought this with the premis that I would be able to convert and ebook to a pdf. I have tried numerous times and can't get my book converted. To pay for an app you are expecting to work, and then it doesnt.. crappy. To pay, not work and can't find a way to contact someone.. even worse.

EPUB

I purchased an epub Math Book a year ago and can't convert it. I tried many apps, but to try this app I had to pay first, only to find that it also could not convert the epub book. Not sure if this book is unique, but I know it works because there is one app that can open it... SMH

Scrambled all the text

The reason I bought this App was because Pages failed to maintain the text fulfilled to the right once exported into ePub format. So I bought this App in hope that it can successfully convert the PDF file generated from Pages to ePub... and I eneded up with scrambled text all spreading across different pages of my book.

Doesn not work very welll

I have converted several .pages documents to .mobi and they always delete 'll' to jut an 'l'. It also appears to happen to 'ff' also. Very distracting when trying to read a document when instead of 'office' you get 'of ice'. Sorry I paid for the full version. I will be swtitching back to Calibre

EASY!

That was just about the easiest thing I have ever done. I forgot my kindle at home, have a book in azw3 on computer, need to read on computer, voila this app DID IT FAST! YAY!!!! Love this!

Does the job well, but it isn't really free, you'll need to cough up the ten bucks, but that's not too bad for what you get.

don't keep pestering a PAID user for a rating

Any App that does not give me the option to turn off the pestering for a star rating AFTER I paid for lifetime automatically gets a 1 star review and this pre-written paragraph. If I wanted to review it I would do so, however pestering me to review it just pisses me off so here is your review

Locks you out of anything functional

If you're trying to convert old e-book files into something supported by apple books or kindle (which is soon not supporting mobi), this app will not allow you to do it without a charge. PDFs, epubs, etc. are all premium features.

Waste of time and money

I purchased the full edition (a Lifetime membership) to convert a Kindle File into a PDF, and simply put: it doesn't work. I have gotten several error messages and it's just not working. Nothing but error messages. I asked for a refund immediately.

Description Lies.

The description says it’s free with in-App purchases. But you can’t do anything with it without paying so you don’t even have any idea if it works before entering in your payment info. Since they can’t be straight forward and just say this is an App that you have to purchase to use, I’d say just avoid it.

Wish it could split 2 page scans

I was hoping the conversion would also spearate 2 page spreads so that scanned PDFs could be legible on the kindle.

Forces subscription on files over 5mb and couldn’t even convert my epub to pdf

Scam of an app, for forcing subscription on any file over 5mb… Most files are going to be over 5mb, use online converter it will be free and you don’t have to worry with the hassle of reversing the subscription.

Refund requests

I bought a lifetime license and tried converting files. However, the results were very unsatisfactory. There were many parts where the letters were broken and converted to look different from the original. I respectfully request a refund.

Why upload?

Having paid for a subscription, there should be no need to upload a file in order to convert it. Regardless of the qualiry of the conversion, this is a deal-breaker. This is not a tool to use to convert any files which are confidential to any other format. I will be deleting this app immediately.

Trial LImiting to Judge Plus Requires...

The trial requires you to pay to use any way to tell if it really works. Plus this yet another monthly subscription model. I am tiried of paying every month for a product I use two, maybe three times a year. Don't bother to download.

Don't waste your time

I downloaded this because I wanted to convert a Mobi file to epub. After opening it, it demanded that I pay to complete the conversion. Apparently, converting to epub is part of their "Premium" service. I hate apps that advertise themselves as free and then pull this bait and switch.

No bath option or destination setting (easy at least)

Wokrs great but I couldn't drag and drop multiple files at once nor could I set a destination for the output. Convertion does work.
